Hello, I recently purchased a Roger's Xperia Arc S LT18a and looking to root it using "DooMLoRD's Easy Rooting Toolkit [v4] (zergRush Exploit)". I understand this will void my warranty. However I do have a few questions I'm hoping to get clarification on before doing so.
1) On the box it said free upgrade to Android 4.0 however when I select Update on the phone it tells me my phone is up to date. It's possible the update is not yet available. Is there another way of updating it?
2) If I root the phone, will I still be able to perform this update once it's available? Or will the rooting process somehow prevent me from doing so.
3) Will I be able to unroot in the event I need to send for warranty?
Any positive input is appreciated. Thanks

Hi,
I wanted to ask my question in the very helpful post by xl VipeR lx:

But since I am new it would not let me and I received the following:
To ask Questions about developing your device, installing ROMs, software and themes you must go to the Q&A or General Forum.
Remember, your question has very likely been asked already, so please search before posting.
I searched around and was not able to find the answer. It may be a silly questions but it's a simple one so hopefully someone can assist.
I have a HTC Sensation and want to root it and put CM7 on. Do I need to unlock the bootloader with instructions from www.htcdev.com/bootloader/unlock-instructions before following VipeR's posting on rooting?
Thank you in advance.
yes you do
Thanks

My main reason for asking is I don't want HTC to necessarily know that I unlocked it. Some of the other forum posts have folks who killed their phone. Users recommend putting it back to stock so that HTC warranty will cover repairs.
If I use HTCDev then they would know that I unlocked it (warning mentioned when you register with them).
Any way around that?

Hello all,
I am prepared for your backlash and hazing but I used doomlords one click root yesterday w/o a hitch but forgot (was unaware I needed to) back up stock ROM. Now I got to unroot using doomlords files and it will not unroot so I can go back to stock.
I have searched all the threads that are suggested and it takes me right to the specific threads in which I am unable to post on....HELP please!
attached is a .txt of what i get. what am i missing?
Disregard....I got it. Again...total noob at this, but I figured it out..on the path to a little more knowledge in this area. Thanks for putting up with my nonsense.

Hey all,
I've never rooted/rom'd an android phone before. I own an LG G3 D855. I've read through the forums and found a spreadsheet to help me root my phone. I'm unclear (for a better choice of words, completely lost) on what to do step by step in order to install a different rom on my phone and IF I don't like it, can I go back to my stock rom?
Sorry again if wrong forum, complete newbie here.
Hi,
Here is a dedicated frequently asked questions thread for your device that will answer most your questions. And if you still need help with something after reading all you can, ask here too...

Good luck!
I've been attempting to root for a while now with no success. Is rolling back a viable option or is there another way? Currently i'm on 4.4.4. Please provide detailed instructions if there is another way. I've rooted my previous phone with towelroot, but it did not work on this phone. I'll update if i need to list any other info.
Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. Your first step should be to visit your device's specific forum here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-galaxy-s5. They are the experts on your device. Then look through and read some of the threads in the general forum. You'll probably find most of your answers there. If you don't, then go to the Q&A forum and look through this, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2697270. And if you still can't find an answer then ask in that forum.
Good luck and welcome to XDA.
As I said in the title, I need to root the sm-t297. Since this is the Turkish version, I did not find many videos and topics about rooting. I would appreciate it if you could help me. I tried rooting before and I deleted the firmware of the device and somehow managed to restore it with odin but I still don't have root
Also, my device is very stiff so I plan to root it.
