Anyone else have issues with slow data speeds during phone calls? I came from the quickwiz from which was working fine. Im now using skyics uclc4. I've tried update 4, and 7. Tried the new base and update 8. Also tried switching to the uclc5 modem. Out of calls the speed is great but during a call according to speed test I get like 400kb down 20 up. I have followed the directions exactly with each wipe. Any ideas what could be causing this?
it has been known for quite some time that AT&T throttle during phone calls... I'm suspecting that Rogers does the same
I'm on AT&T. What gets me is it seems much worse after updating to the ics roms. Its to the point where simple websites do not even load and just time out most of the time.

Its known but keep this in mind stone other carriers don't have data at all during voice

There are no fixes for this as of yet? I use my phone daily while browsing and using other network apps. I hate the idea of having to go back to gingerbread to be able to load anything. It was never this bad before the ics update.

On my stock GB. I can sit and watch the phone for as long as I want and I have the little "lte" symbol below the 4G. If I then call my skyrocket from another phone, right before it rings, the "lte" goes away and then the phone rings. The "lte" stays off until almost a minute after my phone call ends. Does it every time for me.
If the "lte" isn't there, I get the old slow data speeds. Speedtest I did today 31000 up and 6000 down on "lte", 1300 up and 1100 down on a call. All within 5 minutes. Seems like "lte" is just turned off during phone calls.
Maybe they are not really throttling as just turning off LTE during a call. Of course maybe they do both.
I just did a test on the more recent ics leak and my phone falls back to utms when I'm on a call but my wifes gs2 (not skyrocket) get's h+ where I am. sad face.
Again lte is only data and doesn't support calling there is already a thread touching more on this

I could understand if it was for example, 1000 down / up. but 26? the fastest speeds ive gotten during a call is 600 down 45 up. and that was very brief. it hasnt always been this way. This is something that i use every day. 9 / 10 times i cant even load a webpage if on a call, it will time out. One thing i have noticed is it has been consistently slow. http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/845/screenshot2012041915404.png/
Updated to SkyICS UCLD2 base with update 8. Also updated to UCLD2 modem. still getting horrid speeds compared to gingerbread while on a call. managed to get 859 down 19 up. http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/72/screenshot2012042103232.png/

My data download has sucked since last Thursday/Friday. It takes 5+ minutes to download an app from the market(some <1mb) and I get "Download Paused" 5-10x per market download. Also, my speed test results are strange. I checked my data usage on Friday and I was only at 4600mb, yet my download was still horrible.

Average speeds in the past:
My billing cycle ends today. I guess I will find out tomorrow if my data resumes. I have been over 5gb a few times in the past, but never had an issue. Maybe I am not being throttled, I have tried all the fixes I have found for the Market issue. I formatted my memory card, delete .android_secure, have tried 3 different ROMs, same issue. If anybody has any suggestions, I would love to get out of the sub-dialup speed range!
No they are having network issues again. LTE for me is slower than yours lol.. If they throttled you to 5kps, they would be on the receiving end of a class action.
It still says I have 3g, I would only assume that 1x is faster than this. My buddy has a Thunderbolt and his works fine, but he is about 20 miles from me so he may be on a different tower?
Try rebooting your phone. Could always be something simple. Its possible that you are on a different tower thats having an issue. My 3G is great right now, but my LTE is slower than dialup. Think its their end not yours or your account.
Have you by any chance flashed the latest radio? I noticed that once I flashed the latest radio leak, my upload and download speeds dropped significantly. I flashed back to the old (stock) radio and my speeds have gone back to normal.
Reading through some threads, there seems to be others that have had the same issue, while others have had success with the leaked radio.

What's the status? Been having this issue ever since the network went down about 10 days ago. 3g hella slow.
I am still having issues. I took it into my Verizon store today which was a waste. The Vzw guy just called their tech support and he said that he did some stuff "behind the scenes" and that the new radio update should fix the issue.
I installed the radio update in the Thunderbolt Radio thread and I am still having issues. This is rediculous Verizon! It has been over a week! Makes my phone not worth using anything that uses data

I just got a replacement for my botched Nexus, this new one has 0% Time Without Signal (the old one had 50% and was eating batteries) so the new one is off to a better start.
The new one still has the old firmware GRJ06D. I am wondering of anyone noticed issues arising from the GRJ22 update. In particular, anyone get the Tine Without Signal issue as a result of the update? OR are they unrelated? I just want to be sure before installing this thing. Thanks.
Just checked and with the 10 hours up time, I have 0 tws.
I allowed the upgrade and I still have 0% twenty - so far so good. Now, who knows what was wrong with my first one (hardware or software?)

sweet already went there but never saw that appear. if you your 4g drops and it goes down to 3g, does that count as time without signal? just wondering if that counts towards that.

I did the update, but unfortunately the battery life is still terrible. Maybe a new ota will come soon to help with this battery issue. (This is the Sprint version.)
Hey everyone, I am enjoying the nexus s 4g(traded in my Evo 4g) but I have noticed some issues started to pop up after the OTA update to 2.3.4.(Build GRJ22). Also I am not rooted yet(for fear i will not be able to receive the next update that may resolve the issue's listed below).
Note I have updated my Profile, and PRL(Next to flashing to another ROM to mitigate the issue's).
1) Battery Charging, after the update the battery will not charge past ~95 percent.
2) Battery Life when idle, before the update battery life was outstanding with moderate usage. Now the device's battery life drops to ~85 percent after being unplugged for 15-20 mins.
3)Signal Reception, yet again my phone will constantly switch between 1x, and 3g even though my SNR, and DB never hits above ~65DB-~70DB.
4)Data Rate/Bandwidth, I was pulling 3-4 megs down/ 1.5 - 2.0 megs up(I live in the Virginia Beach Area) over 3g, Now I get "**** for speeds"(.3 megs down/.25 megs up. Maybe it is reference to the issue listed above(AOSP ROMS in my opinion provide a more accurate display of mobile network connectivity).
To end it I hope I am not alone with these issues?
Maybe if possible someone has a solution?
The battery thing is a means to keep the battery in better shape its not a bug.

You aren't alone, all of the issues you listed are being looked at by Sprint and Google right now, although like the above poster said, the battery thing is intentional. Hopefuly they figure out what is wrong soon =/
In the meantime, using wifi when possible should alleviate a lot of those issues, mainly battery life on standby.
Many of my battery and network connection issues got mutch better when I turned the wifi to never sleep.

If your constantly going between networks rider is your battery drain thought there. If it was better before then there is hope your problem can be fixed with another ota

The data issues you are having are due to 2.3.4 and they are known. google/samsung are supposedly working on it. But I doubt we will see a fix anytime soon if Samsung is fixing it!
Woa, woa, woa. Wait a second, are you saying that going back to 2.3.3 or whatever the previous version was will alleviate all the signal/radio/data problems? !?!!?
If so, will downgrading stop me from being able to upgrade in the future?

nope. depending on the version you are going back to you'll mostlikely get an insta notification that 2.3.4 is available for your device, you just got to ignore it until they either fix 2.3.4 or release 2.3.5.
2.3.4 is already out. If they release a new fix it will be 2.3.5.
And what the post above mine says about the updates.
I have also seen tat 2.3.3 also has some issues with 3g. But the post I read up could have been all lies

OP:
When you "root" the NS4G, you're just unlocking the Bootloader, then installing SU/recovery....I do believe you can still receive OTA updates. The only time you can't is when you're running a custom ROM.

Hey man, I returned the phone yesterday, and then bought a replacement(same model, but in order to avoid sprint's one exchange limit) With regards to the battery issue, it most likely is hardware related because the new phone running 2.3.4.(Build GRJ22), charges fully and does not have the so called "protect your battery feature". Also while i was at the Sprint Store, I compared the signal strength of my original Nexus S to an HTC Evo, HTC Evo Shift, and another Nexus S 4g. Oddly enough even in the store(which has signal booster's all over the place. All of the phones where around -76db. I am starting to think it is either a hardware issue or a ****ty baseband version. Most likely hardware. Kind of reminds me of the Samsung Captivate i had with AT&T and the ever so wonderful bug with Odin(Orange/Blue flashing screen of death that turned my investment into a paperweight. Also after running the *#*#4636#*#*, and displaying the Preferred Network Settings, I noticed on all 3 phones tested, all devices would switch from WCDMA, to Uknown, to the best of my understanding the default should be CDMA_Auto PRL. Very Strange, very strange indead......... Samsung needs to invest into quality control, before lawsuits start.
Damn! I am on wifi and charging the phone. I just woke up and picked up the phone and started using it. I've experienced that using the phone after an overnight charge, but not removing it from the charger, will make my battery go up to 98%. I just saw it hit 99 and was like I need to get a screen shot of this. By the time I downloaded and installed something it dropped back down to 98. I've never seen this phone hit 99 before today. If it does it again I am prepared to archive it.

To anyone who cares or was questioning the update. My update is running very smooth, GPS updates super quick, battery life has improved and all my apps are working perfectly. I must be lucky.
First of all, previously to the update I was running CM7 RC-1 with morfics kernel which ran great first of all. But of course i wanted to update to an "official" if you want to call it that.
This is the guide I followed thanks to TGA_Gunmann for posting first.

I made sure all the steps went exactly as they were supposed to. And i followed them perfectly.
Now i have this.
My version of OS im running.

Been using this all day as well. Widget and background (bg is a Live Wallpaper also)
If someone were to ask me if they should update, My answer would be yes. I have not had any problems yet. Just make sure you follow the instructions CAREFULLY! Maybe someone will find this at least a little useful.
People are complaining but I rather have the update than be stuck on 2.2. Only. Things worth noticing is the stock camera, but we have to wait 4 more months on the update.

I now notice it only seems to get stuck in the checked position if there is also active wifi connection, otherwise, if the phone is on 4G, the 2G box can be checked/unchecked and the selection sticks.
I agree if anyone wants to update they should, but the only down fall is losing the nice LG camera. That is the only reason I went back. I take a lot of photos of my son who is 2 years old and I need crystal clear pictures like you get with the LG Camera. I think if you want a stable gb rom, do the update. If you want the LG Camera like I do then do not do the update. Just my two cents.
I can agree. I noticed the camera was a little dark. But I can deal without it. I take meaningless pictures unlike you. Pictures of your son is a good reason to go black. I would probably also jump on board if I were to be using it for tthe same.reason

My Lg G2x Has been working great but more recently its done two wierd things; first at times when booted it up it will claim in a area where there is absolutely no coverage (although there is) but when i restart once or twice it goes back to normal (remaining in the same area) and second is there are times when i turn wifi on and both the wifi logo and 4g remain in sight. Does anyone have any suggestions other than doing a factory data reset as i have done more than 5 and had no luck

What baseband are you on? I've had that problem with the wifi and 4g icons at the same time, but I just turn off then turn wifi back on and it fixes the problem, I've never had the coverage ossue though. Also, how long have you had the phone? Maybe its starting to mess up internally with the antenna, but highly unlikely.

OK I've uploaded a pic of the baseband and yea I've noticed turning on and off wifi helps but not permanent solution unfortunately. But as far as time I've owned for about a year however LG has serviced it once already when it had battery issues (got the board replaced) BTW do you think rooting it and installing a custom rom might do the trick?

I found coverage/service problems were vastly improved w/ the newest baseband. There's about 379 guides (give or take) on here about how to update it.
Also, custom ROMs make EVERYTHING better

As for roms I prefer GB roms to ICS roms for my g2x, currently running and loving Hellfire Phoenix http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1420972
However, if you decide to upgrade the baseband and flash this rom, you will also need to flash the baseband fix over the top of it, that can be found here
