So I just switched from The LTE/HSPA/GSM (auto) network mode to the HSPA/GSM (auto) network mode and rebooted my phone. When it turned back on for some reason it booted into safe mode (I didn't even know phones have safe mode). So I rebooted again and some of my widgets are gone and all the apps I had sorted into folders were removed from the folders and are just loose in the app tray (the empty folders are still there). This is so weird, anyone know whats going on or why this suddenly happened?
what launcher, and did u change anything else at all? Install another app perhaps
Stock Launcher. Installed GO SMS early this morning (don't think it's the problem). This issue happened in the afternoon right after I rebooted after switching network modes. Also the weird thing is that a couple widgets (email and stickies) stayed while all the rest (clock, minimalist text, beautiful widgets) disappeared. Also I use swiftkeys as my keyboard but the phone resorted back to stock keyboard. I haven't gone through everything yet to see what else changed.
stock gb 2.3.6?
Stock GB 2.3.5. Has rogers released 2.3.6? I tried flashing CWM a while back which didn't work and soft bricked me so I had to flash the stock recovery tar from the dev section. My phone says I'm running official firmware though so I don't think thats the problem.

I reinstalled my stock firmware last night with odin (or atlease i think i did..i notice things like my modded recovery still in the system/bin folder, etc) all is working fine but the time seems to change at times, specially after a reboot. I have to go to setting and toggle the the automaic network time box for it to correct the time. my texts are ALL mixed up now due to this. Anyone have any idea whats causing this or how it can be fixed?
I always have this issue as well when I go back to stock, and so far has always been corrected with a factory restore. I consider it the final step when going back to stock now. Hope this helps.
I've had a few android phones, but so far I have not run into this issue with any of them. I am running stock + root (though the issue was happening before root) and every once in a while I'll notice an icon is missing from one of my home screens.
Typically, it's been my Scrabble icon that goes missing. Sometimes it will be TouchDown or Words With Friends that disappear, or it will be a widget. Has anyone encountered this?
I've tried doing a reset of the phone, but still run into the same thing after a few days. I have checked to make sure that an update was not done to the app, turned off auto-updates for any of the affected programs that I've noticed so far, but still I find that the icon disappears.
I'd appreciate any input as to a way to find out when/how the icon was deleted from the screen. Since I'm the only one that uses my phone, I don't think it's being dropped accidentally by someone else. I do know that I have used an app's icon before going to bed, but when I wake up the next day, it or one of the others that was there is gone.
Have you moved any of these apps to the SD card?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using XDA App
Nope, not running anything from the SD card. I use it mainly for moving music and the occassional movie between two different devices.
That was happening to me too on stock 2.3.6 but after I flashed sky ics ROM it fixed it

it has happened on every single rom. including skyics....skyics does it the least out of any ROM I've used...but it still does it...i have 155 apps installed...every other reboot I end up with 150 or less....
and I could reboot again...and lose more apps...i have to reinstall them...sometimes they will all come back after a reboot
NONE are moved to SD, default install location.
this is the only droid that has done that...it's really weird.
OK, so tonight I decided to install the Atrix 2 Blaze mod. It installed without any issues.
After installing and verifying that everything worked, I then decided to use Titanium Backup to batch restore my apps. This appeared to work, and at the end of the process it told me to reboot. So I did.
Once it booted back up, I was greeted with the lock screen, as you'd expect -- but when I unlocked the phone, all I saw was a black screen and the notification bar on top. No wallpaper, no icons, no widgets, nothing. I could open the task drawer, I could make the soft keyboard appear, I could bring up the "open apps" window... but I can't actually do anything because the screen is freaking black.
But because the notification bar works, I can tell there are things going on. I see my phone checking for email. I see my phone battery decreasing. I see notifications when my google+ or twitter apps detect people are replying to threads I've been on. In other words, the phone appears to be working in every way except that there's nothing on the screen for me to interact with.
Has anyone seen this before? Is there a way to fix it? I hope?
Your best bet is probably just to flash the 2.3.5 Stock FXZ and start from scratch.

try re-flashing ?
looks like you loose your home launcher ..
I had the EXACT same problem, everything below the notifications bar was blacked out, i could bring up recent apps, but i couldn't even bring up the emergency dial pad at the unlock screen. Only difference is mine happened when i froze Go Launcher using Titanium Backup. I could tell it was still trying to run Go Launcher coz i could auto-rotate the screen.Sadly, the only option i had was to reset the phone and loose everything. I couldnt even backup my files coz i set USB mode to charge only so it never popped up on PC.
I reckon you restored an app that has a missing component/data and so it crashes at startup, maybe a home launcher, locker etc. Try making a backup then resetting your phone
Same problem here Ill try the fxy method,
any of you had solve the problem?
In my transition to JB from GB, I have a few questions and don't find the information by searching.
I now have 2 Infuse 4g phones. One has some "hardware issues" I still believe with not starting on it's own. See here if interested: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2148497&page=2
I followed these directions on my "semi Broken phone" and all went well to a point. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1776129
All was well until I tried to use my GB restore to see if I could avoid re-installing all my apps. Of course it didn't work and I went back to stock via Odin, then followed scott.hart.bti instructions again, Ok, all good till I turned the phone off and then nothing worked to get into CWM. I could get into download mode so I went back to stock,
1st Question: Is there a Download mode JB Rom OR better still something I can flash in Odin to re-start this phone? (Once up and running it will run fine and Quick Boot always works.)
I got Titanium BU Pro and backed up my working phone apps and system and transferred via "Software data cable" to the Semi broken phone and successfully restored all my apps and settings.
2nd Question: Is the app backup in Titanium compatible with JB? (I am pretty sure that I don't want to restore the System from GB to JB,but I would like to avoid the time to reinstall my apps.)
3rd Question: In my semi broken phone, it won't turn on once powered off and it won't data connect in USB, but it will connect in download mode. Is that a clue to it's problem? The power button works once up and running to wake the screen up and shut the screen down, enter the power off shell and everything else except power it up from a power off state. All I get is the "star" battery symbol that goes away or sometimes is get's to the charging battery symbol showing no charge and goes away. (New battery, fully charged in my operable Infuse)
Thanks in advance, I have learned so much here.:good:
Update Monday 8 April
I have successfully upgraded my non-broken Infuse to CM10 Butter.
I was also successful in restoring the apps that wanted from Titanium backup. I generally restored the app only except those involving passwords. 2 programs wouldn't restore and I do recall reading about one of them MEMO, I had to force close. The other was street view in Google Maps, forced restore closed and installed from Play Store.
No issues with GPS at all, calls are good, didn't lose IMEI (backed up of course anyway) Restored SMS/MMS good.
SO now I only have one question and that regards my semi broken phone, I have left it on GB and the battery stays up if left on and airplane mode, and all active app closed. From Thursday PM till this morning AM battery went down to 83%.
Is there a way of flashing something via Odin (besides the GB Rom) to bring it up should it get powered down by error or battery going all the way down? (I use the "Quick Boot" to reboot periodically).
Thanks
I have two issues, both of which are very frustrating. I have changed my default keyboard to Smart Keyboard Pro and it keeps the change for a day or two and then it reverts back to the Samsung keyboard. It is not tied to restarts, and I cannot figure out what causes it t suddenly change back.
The second issue is the call log shows everything (including messages) even though I tell it just show "all calls". The issues is kind of the same where I change it and it stays that way for a few days and then reverts back but the tow changes don't even take place together.
Any ideas?

Sounds weird, have you installed a mod recently that may have messed it up? Sometimes doing things to your phone can cause these little issues.
I'd restore a recent backup if you have it, you can try to factory reset also but you'll lose your app and system data.
If that still doesn't work, I'd pull off any files you want to keep and format the internal SD card. It'll return your phone to a very clean state, but you'll also start from scratch.
I also think flashing a custom rom should clear things up. If you find any you're interested in give them a shot. cleanrom, bonestock, and obsessed all are extremely stable roms and as close to stock as you'll get. There are also many other roms that are more heavily modded and themed that you'd enjoy. I think you'd probably like them more than a stock rooted rom anyway.
