Mugen Power 1600mAh Extended Battery for For HTC Desire - Desire HD Accessories

Comments of Mugen Power Batteries from Facebook user Val Komissarov
Hey, Mugen. I just installed your 1600 mAh battery for HTC Desire (properly charged for circa 9 hrs) on my HTC Desire running an Oxygen-based AOSP ROM (Android 2.3.7) and had two phone shutdowns when the battery charge was between 90 and 80 percent. That's something that never happened to me before while I'd been using native HTC battery. The ROM itself is extremely reliable and battery efficient. Any clues on that?
on the other hand, after 2.5 weeks of usage I must express my dissatisfaction with the product: the battery hardly lasts as long as the original HTC battery. I did everything per instruction, my ROM and usage patterns remain unchanged, so it's got to be the Mugen battery.

Could just be a faulty battery. Cant damn an entire product for one bad apple. I work in RMA's and see it all the time. "your product is supposed to last xxx times, it didnt even work once, false advertising!!!" My reply, bad units happen no matter what you buy. My other notice is, that is for the desire, not the desire HD. two different phones and two different batteries. Mugen only sells a 1500mah for desirehd/inspire.

Really? Ok, then I probably almost gonna buy a wrong one.
Thanks either!

There's a thread floating around somewhere which explains why the Mugen and similar high capacity batteries are no better than the standard HTC one.
The HTC branded battery can use ~90% of its capacity whereas other only use ~80%.
I don't recall the exact numbers but it works out that, although the capacity is lower, more of it is usable.

Or they are the exact same and Mugen is just rebranding it.

So u r saying it does not worth buying? Either does not have any chang, or it is so minor that it is pointless?

1500 mah akku :good:

Buy it if it's cheaper than genuine HTC batteries, but don't pay more than genuine HTC battery prices, because they are all the same capacity.

Yeah I saw on their website, only 1500 mamph Desire HD batts

To be honest, I have tried some batteries and have ended up coming back to original HTC batttery because they all have similar response and don´t want the battery to melt inside my phone and fck both, the battery and phone.

I did not have a good mugen experience either, it did not had shutdown but the battery charge never last as long as advertized... And I did try every single mod or tweak in the forum, for me it was just like a regular htc battery.

So there is no point in a battery upgrade on Desire HD?

I got one of those 2450 mah (supposedly) batteries and much to my complete lack of surprise it was only 1230 mah.
It was only $8 so I thought I'd give it a try. But at least I have a spare battery that's a little better than the 1 3/4 year-old HTC battery I was using before.

Is there any differences with cost between original battery and mugen? Mugen seems a little expensive for me and plus, cargo price. Or Is it really worth to buy Mugen?

I've been using my phone for over 2 years now and battery lasts 12 hours aprox. ..so i'm considering either a new battery or that powerskin thingy..what do you guys suggest?

Go for a bigger battery. Known brands can offer batteries with more juice.
Unleashed from N101T @1.6Ghz on 3.2.1 Rom

Can you please specify what brands should i consider buying? Thanks in advance

Mugen 1600mah or Anker (Sensation) 1900mah if you are willing to do the battery cover mod as described in the Sensation battery topic.
I own the second and its really very good choice.

Mugen Power already has available a standard size 1600mAH battery for Nexus One and HTC Desire share the same battery. (same HTC model number)
1600 mAH?

The OEM 1400 mAH is still better than 1600 mAH.

Mugen Power's 1300 mAH lasts longer that standard 1230 mAH (4-6 standby hours better) on my HD2. Hopefully the 1600 mAH for Desire lasts at least 10 hours more than original 1400mAH if has the same quality.

I am not sure, if you read the whole thread of this:

You will find out some interesting facts and figures, from user experience.
One user tested:
After running first the 2400 mAh for a couple of days, and getting more and more suspicious about the claimed mAh, then the 2700 mAh one and getting even more dissatisfied with that one, I decided to run a simple test to confirm my suspicions. I decided to put brightness at max, bluetooth on, leave sync on, GPS on and start up the video streaming app Qik. I ran it with live GPS tracking and left it on my living room table until it ran out of juice. First up was the standard 1350 mAh battery, it managed 110 minutes. Then the claimed 2700 mAh one, it survived 118 minutes, and at last the claimed 2400 mAh one, that managed 115 minutes. And this confirms my suspicions almost exactly, although I must admit I felt the 2400 mAh one was a bit weaker than the stock one, and the 2700 one a tiny bit better. But anyway, its so close to my experienced feelings after running them for several days at work, with very equal usage each day, that made all of them last almost the hole 8-9 hours on one charge, that I will not bother to run any more tests. Its good enough for me. So that means my claimed 2400 mAh battery is only around 1400 mAh, and my 2700 one is also only around 1400 as well. And this is batteries that are around twice as thick!

I'll test and report here... the HD2 version it's a good battery (no miracle, but noticeably better than original)
This external portable charger sounds promising. It has a claimed output rate of 700mA what is just as good as the original socket charger.
http://www.proporta.com/F02/PPF02P05.php?t_id=4662&t_mode=des
The other with AA batteries is questionable as I suspect it has not more then 200-300mA output juice which will take your desire 8+ hours to recharge fully if not touched. What is way to much if you ask me!

BUt this isn't the gold one although i bet it's made at the same factory, oh the gold battery weigh in at 27 Lol i had a gold battery but got a full refund, so i opened it up, and there was a small battery inside, with a spacer built around it!
Really?! Oh lame...it's shipped.
I guess the only way to find out is to test it and form my own verdict.
can someone explain me technically how the weight of the battery relates to the performance.
apart from getting a case with a smaller battery inside.

generally speaking the weight of the battery relates to the amount of li-ion in the battery (this can only be a generalization due to the casing of the battery and the like) but simply put the higher the weight the larger amount of li-ion in the battery which increases the Amp Hours; Ah
edit: so continuing on a 2300mAh battery should be heavier than a 1500mAh battery as it would have more li-ion in it
so anyone got one this already and tested it out
I have BXT'S extended model BP6X and am using it with my Motorola XT720. The BXT battery weighs in at 24g (it is rated at 2200 mAh) and the OEM BP6X weighs in at 28.7g (which is rated at 1390 mAh) I have used the battery for about a day (with the charge that it had shipped with) and it didn't last very long. I was also running a 1.2ghz overclock at the time so that could have contributed to it too. I believe however that I need to charge it for about 10 hours or so the first charge, just to make sure it has its full capacity. (which I have not done yet) I can give a full overview in a day or so if you guys would like.
This is the one I have:
http://cgi.ebay.com/2200mAh-High-Ba...Accessories&hash=item3a6712c73b#ht_2876wt_952
Seeing as it weighs less and claims its 2300 mah I call this battery a load of crap like the other 2300 mah battery. It prolly has spacers around a smaller battery.

Yes, that is probably true. I have also heard reports of android's battery meter not correctly read the % of battery power on these BXT extended batteries but it may vary from phone to phone so people will have to test it out on their devices. What the report said was that the battery would quickly drop to 25% and then it would take HOURS to drop to 0% but low battery messages would pop up frequently during that time because the phone believed the battery was that low, even though the actual battery % was not that low because it was just incorrectly reading it. I could not tell yet from a few hours of use whether or not I experienced this problem with my BXT BP6X.
Don't buy bxt 2300 mah
I ordered this BXT 2300mAh battery on July 21st 2011.
1st of all it came after 15 long days of waiting.
and when it finally arrived the battery was non functional. DOA
(that might be a one time thing)
But what's really surprising is the weight. As someone mentioned before; if the battery is more powerful it should be heavier. So, a 2300mAh should have more li-ion and should be quite a bit heavier then 1520mAh Stock. right?
(someone correct me if I'm wrong)
well this battery doesn't even weigh as much as the stock.
my conclusion: FAKE FAKE FAKE!!!
I just filed a PayPal claim to get a full refund.
Don't be sucked into buying this battery!
Guys, sorry to resurrect this thread but I've just got one of these with the Sensation I've just bought.
It weighs 34g exactly the same as the Anker I've got. Bot tried the Anker yet so can't compare how they both perform.
1gram battery ≈ 47mAh
I have 5 batteries.
Motorola BK60 930mAh Weight - 20g.
Motorola BC50 750mAh Weight - 16g.
Sony Ericsson BST-33 950mAh Weight - 20g.
Samsung sgh x160 800mAh Weight - 17g.
HTC Desire HD 1230mAh Weight - 26g.
930/20=46,5
750/16=46,8
950/20=47,5
800/17=47,0

I agree! Unfortunately it just looks too.... wrong! Granted it might be great for people who can't charge often but I find my phone lasts at a minimum one day with normal usage and possibly 2 if I forget to charge it and don't use it much other than texting and say 30 mins of calls.
You would also need a modified case for it as well and I definitely need one of those as I seem to have a problem with dropping expensive things and my desire has been saved a few times from chips / bumps! by using a rubber case holder!
Is there any external battery for Desire which seemlesly blends with the phone like some iPhone external battery, which looks like a normal silicon cover?

I have one of those. Some apps or the OS see it as 780mAh, I didn't do much testing to find the real truth, but the actual battery is smaller in size than the stock one (maybe 1350-1500 max), has a cheaper and stupider controller (no voltage, no temperature) and it will decay faster than an original SANYO battery (it will be worse than your current battery is now in about a year with similar usage).
Ask yourself, what would you want to have in your pocket when your main battery discharges completely:
- 5 euro banknote
- 5 euro replacement battery with at least half charge
You get what you pay for.
Cameron Sino 2400mAh..with a bit of kernel tweaks, it lasts 1.5 days...good enough for my needs.
I guess you all need to check this review. It's a hands-on review with a lot of data on how much time Mugen 3200mAh battery adds etc.
In my opinion only original or Mugen batteries
i think the original battery is the best battery i had an battery from ebay from Polarcell the battery was terrible its not good has anyone a good alternative battery found

Review Mugen Power 1950mAh Extended Battery

SKU: HLI-APX515CSL
Cell Type: Li-ION
Voltage: 3.7v
Capacity (mAh): 1950
Battery Door: Not Required
Rom used: my own kwbr rom
Kernel: stock kernel ICS 4.0.3
In the past I purchased several extended batteries from Mugen. I bought batteries for the hTC Wildfire, Sensation, Desire Z, HD2 and Google Nexus S. Needless to say why. Running these android devices for a full day on heavy usage can be a challenge on it's own. Besides running my own roms the battery is the first thing I replace to get better battery life.
The Mugen 1950mAh for the Sensation came in the known package including quick start guide how to calibrate the battery. Shipped the day after ordering it arrived within about 2 weeks.
The 1950mAh has a perfect fit. No need to replace the cover or fix things. First I calibrated the battery. After a few months of usage I can say the battery is great. Regular day, several calls, 2hours BT connection with nokia carkit. Reading emails and some browsing. After almost 11 hours usage and still 80% battery. That's better then I used to get with the stock battery.
The Verdict
A good battery. Although it is not cheap I consider it a must have for power users that don't want a bulky backcover with the hTC Sensation. You still need to charge the phone on a daily basis with moderate or heavy usage but at least it will last the day instead of the stock battery.
WHat the
dude 11 hours with that usage and still 80% ?! I should buy that battery. I wish the price could be cheaper though
How much did you pay for the battery?and did you order it direct from mugen?why did it take so long to get it is possible to get it in a few days.

I just want to know your configuration so I have few questions
Which ROM you have? Is it GB or ICS?
Which kernel you're using? Did you change clock speed?
I would also like to see screen on time, I imagine it's next to none.
I have Mugen second week. I can use sensation couple hours longer without charging. Also notice some improvement with screen on time.
But for me it is to early for review. I will write my opinion after a longer time of using it.
I will try to add some screenshots in next few days.
edit:
Here are some screenshot
Soon I will add more to show battery life with heavy load

You still need to charge the phone on a daily basis with moderate or heavy usage but at least it will last the day instead of the stock battery.

yea i seen that too. i would rather look at the posts with heavy use on the battery, instead of standby most of the time and barely have any time for screen on. of course, if the screen is barely on and most of the time on standby mode. the battery drain will be very minimal

Fake, any battery above 2000 mah can't be like stock battery. Check Mugen 3200 mah. I have it. When on idle. I 'm getting 1 % down for an hr with mugen battery. Means 100 hrs standby with Edge\3G On ...
Mugen does ship battery to any part of the world at free of cost. So get it from them directly

Ok thanks ...
In fact I would buy a new battery because the one I have now started to cause problems at the charge and discharge.
Do you have any advice for me? or a replacement with more capacity without having to add a thicker shell?

Mugen 1600mah for htc desire. 200 mah more than stock (1400 mah). You will 25% more power than stock htc battery. Same size as stock battery http://www.mugen-power-batteries.co...e-htc-desire-vodafone-htc-desire-1600mah.html
if samsung do sell genuine s3 2100mah batteries for around 33$ and make profit from that, then how much is worth a piece of mugen 1600mah battery for desire?this time 44$ for mugen is like stealing from mans pocket isnt it?
any other place buy them cheaper? or similar quality thing?

I agree with you ...
I tested the batteries above and none are valid.
It is better to buy an original or a Mugen
I got 3000 mAh battery with replacement back cover for 13£ from "Odds & Pods", but it went out of business soon after. Sure it adds some weight and about doubles the thickness but it works like a charm.
Htc desire bravo Jellybean 2000mamp battery problem
Hello I have second hand desire bravo running jellybean, the battery is 2000miliamp but after a full charge and then I turn off phone, the next morning it's down to 84%. Is there any reason for this other than maybe the battery being faulty?
Is there some software that will solve this, I had read something about the kernel of the phone having some effect on this.
As it is a get about a day out of battery.

Thats normal if youre able to get a day of usage of your battery.
I bought a 2500mAh battery on eBay. Same size as stock, but it does not last much longer (~15% longer?) than the stock battery I had. I got the device lasting longer by installing the MildWild (based on Redux2) custom ROM. This ROM gives approximately an 80% increase of battery life (almost an additional day).

Yeah and your stock battery will have been 2 years old so its no better than stock. Clearly not the 2500mah it claimed
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda app-developers app
probably it has less capacity than the original battery. dont buy those batteries!
