415 pbj kernel - Verizon Droid Charge

I know it isn't a official release by imnuts but what so all of you think of the kernel? Good enough to use?

How do we change that ugly boot animation though the one you get when you flash the pbj kernel

If you don't want the boot screen that looks like it was pulled from a Flintstones game designed for the NES, download Terminal Emulator, enter "su", then enter "tweaktools". Choose the option for CWM mods. If you look on the second page of CWM mods (accessed by entering "n"), there are a couple of alternative bootscreens. I like the one with the blue swirls.

LOL - wow. So how do you all REALLY feel about the boot animation?
Harsh graphical criticisms aside, Son of Cicero is right - and I expect a few more boot animation options will be added over time.

0415 PBJ kernel
I installed the kernel and it shows as 2.6.35.7-FP1 - gpfef422-dirty on my phone under kernel version. Is this what it is supposed to read as?

Is the 0415 suitable for use with stock de-odexed FP1? Not really interested in the tweaks, more so for the EXT4 & init.d support.

[Q] Uhh, dumb question... lol.

I recently successfully installed Infused 2.1.0 after pulling my hair and running into weird issues along the way, like boot loops etc (learning... slowly).
I love to tweak things and ran across this GB tweak here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1236779
The dumb question part is how the heck do I "flash" that into my device? I was thinking that I need to go into CWM recovery thingy with the red letters during post and I remember seeing an option to install a .zip. Now I was either thinking that or either I need to use SGS Kernel to flash it?
Sorry for the nubby Q but I'm sooo confused here.

I tried that one at first and my phone kept booting in a loop. I don't know if it was because I was using ES FileExplorer or what. I made sure I had that mount r/w done too, replaced the files, rebooted and boom... sadness.

Stock with that CWM kernel from the Infused post, you think overclocking it to 1.6Ghz 24/7 is fine using infusion?
And another dumb Q while you here (lol) but I can safely use different kernels (as long as they're made for the device) and re-flash via SGS?

Will this tweak wipe anything out? No.
Will the recovery for GB cause your phone to wipe? Maybe depending on what recovery you have. Last I remember there was a fix for that, I dont have GB therefore I am not to sure.

@droidnewb2000 yes it works but itll break the boot animation, I dont know why it does it.
@phillthedrill this replace the binary files with files from Honeycomb which are more responsive, the files are app_process and system_server.
@Grillrd sorry you dont see much of a difference. I notice a huge improvement and so does my girlfriends Inspire 4G and friend Infuse 4G.
@DirgeExtinction thanks for the feedback, I have updated my first post to let everyone know.

Damn man, sorry to hear that but it seems like your the only one it caused this problem for. Ive tried this many times... The most i can say is wipe, install the rom and let it fully boot up. Then flash fugu. This tweak is universal and MANY people without charges use this tweak without problems.
I'm running Humble 1.51 with Voodoo and Super Charged V6, so my phone already feels snappy. However, I ran Linpack prior to flashing. My scores ranged from high 15's to low 16's. After flashing, Linpack consistently gave me scores in the 18 sec range. That is with NO overclocking, as I'm using the PBJ kernel. This was an easy to use, worthwhile mod imo.

Boot animation

I am looking to get a bootanimation of the New Orleans Saints pregame chant. I have a youtube link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ALu0J1QRnJo&feature=youtube_gdata_player
I requested this in another forum, but I suppose the OP got busy, so I'm wondering if anyone can put this together for me. I greatly appreciate it.

I don't normally care for boot animations, but this one looks like it would be cool. Being from the southshore and transplanted to the northshore, I have grown up with the Saints in my life and wouldn't mind watching this when I restart the phone.
I do have a question though, I am running a different ROM/kernel and wondering if that will cause an issue if I try to download the link and flash the file?
Current ROM: AOKP build 28
Kernel: Mason v0.14
Also, thanks for taking the time to make an animation that is close to me and the OP.
I recently switched roms and thought that I had saved the boot animation, but as it turns out I must have deleted it because I can't seem to find it anywhere.

{Q} How do you enable CRT on SIII?

I understand now how to compile framework-res.apk on this phone from a previous question. I like to change the colors and texts to theme certain aspects of the phone, but I also like to turn on the CRT animation. I edit the bools.xml file to change animatescreenlights to false, saved and compiled, moved the resourses.arsc to original apk. I tested, but the CRT animation does not work. I've never had this problem before. I've done it on my original Galaxy, and Galaxy II with no problems. Is there something different to do on the SIII?

Stock kernel doesn't allow custom boot animations - you'll need to flash a kernel that supports it. Check the dev section for them.
Will that trip my flash counter?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
Not if you use recovery to flash as opposed to Odin. Plus there is a thread somewhere in dev I think with info that allow you to reset the counter.

This thread has links to mohan's kernels
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28350575
It's got a modified ramdisk which gives you the ability to use custom boot animations and init.d support.
Seanscreamz' latest ROM thread also has links to similar kernels, but they may have been adjusted further to work more specifically with his ROM; mohan's kernels are pretty much stock.

Should be "initialization" and "receiver" too. Your edit at the bottom is a different color from the main body text as well... Was that intentional? Otherwise, awesome and using it.

It would be cool if you made one that said android 4.1.1 instead of 4.0.1

I have to make a couple changes to the one. I can make one for jb as well as keeping this one for ics.
Give me a couple days I'll get the two up.
