Restoring system apps for rooted phones - HTC One S

hello, i rooted my phone and removed some system apps/bloatware
looks like i removed a lot of widgets without knowing, including some i would really like to use, so how can i restore some of the removed apps? i moved them to a different folder on the sd card via root explorer

i found out how to restore the apps, pushing them back alone wasnt enough, had to fix the file permissions and restart
but i accidently deleted htcmusic.odex, could someone provide me a link for this file?

are you on a stock ROM or a Custom ROM ?

[Q] Need a little help

I've searched high and low and couldn't find an answer to help.
I rooted my Captivate successfully... installed Titanium Backup and ran a backup... removed the stock apps. Now I need to return my phone and I can't get the apps to reinstall. It's like Titanium Backup permanently deleted them instead of renaming or moving them.
So... is there anywhere to download the .apks for the stock apps?
Look for a folder named TitaniumBackup on the internal or external SD card (if you had one). That's where your backups are stored. If it was on the external card and you removed it, TIBU won't be able to find it. If you deleted it, your SOL.
You can flash stock with odin
Yay, thanks mcord! Odin did the trick!

[Q] Cant restore backed up apps with Titanium?

I used Titanium Pro to back up all the apps and bloatware on my G2X. When I try to restore any of the ones I have un-installed the restore option is not there. I think it may have something to do with the external - internal sd card. I also keep loosing the icons to some of my apps (the ones on sd) inside the folder on my home screen. How do I restore these apps that I have backed up??
Ps I have used titanium many times on my rooted cliq with no problems.
my backups are on the internal sd.i've restored a few times with no problem i haven't updated mine though. using an older apk. i've read people are having issues here and there with titanium. so i'm sticking with my old version.

IMHO Titanium Backup has always been great with user apks, but very lacking with system apks. I'm not sure if it's trying to actually "install" system apks or what, but I've never had any luck with it.
Anyway, you should be able to just push the apks back to your /system/app/ from one of the roms or backups you can find here.
Have you checked the path to the folder that your backups are in with TB?
There is an option to change it in settings. You may have to reboot after changing it.
gonna give that a shot. Thanks.
Having trouble with my Titanium Backup. I backed up all my user apps + data, wiped and installed a new ROM. After getting it back up w/ new ROM, market, install titanium (w/ pro key) and go to restore apps. None of my backups show up. Batch > "Restore missing apps with data", shows 0 apps. When I go Preferences > Backup folder location it shows the folder (mnt/sdcard/TitaniumBackup) with all my backups it in, even says "This folder contains 62 backups".
Any help on how to restore these would be greatly appreciated.

On the folder location screen choose detect and choose whole phone. It will search for the directory your backups are in. If that doesn't work then i'm guessing you may have formatted the location where your backups existed.
Try this..

What happens when you install CM7 is that the sdcard directory now points to your external sd card rather then the internal that comes with the phone.
the internal is now at /mnt/emmc
Get root explorer and you will see what I'm talking about.
Once you have root explorer just copy the titanium backup folder from /mnt/emmc to /sdcard and you should be able to restore all user apps with data... however DO NOT restore system data from stock to CM7... big headaches.
Hope this helps!

[Q] Native Apps

I had some native apps get deleted in the process of trying to convert them to user apps and move them to sd card (stupid I know!). Titanium backup hung up during the process and when it closed it apparently didn't finish and so the apps just went away. And I thought I had backed everything beforehand but apparently not.
They were the text messaging, photo gallery and calculator. Is there a way to reload just these three to the phone? It is rooted and I am still running the stock setup but need to get these loaded again (and frozen like I had them).
There are stock nandroid backups in the dev section.
Seeing as the stock Nandroid backups are a real pain to use, you might just want to check out a stock-ish ROM instead... like b_randon14's. The complete and "stock" ones should have all the apps the way they came originally.
...Although how you return some of the stockier apps without just flashing a darn system ROM could be difficult...
Do a nandoid backup
Flash a stock ROM
grab the apk files from /system/app and copy them to your SD card
restore your backup
Pop the missing apk's in /system/app
I keep a local copy of all the stock apk's on my PC, it's helped having them a few times

Titanium Backup - Can't restore apps+data after flash

Hi guys, I recently just flashed CM 12.1 w/ Android 5.1.1 on my Zenfone 2.
Before doing that, I backed up my apps+data using Titanium Backup. After flashing, I transferred back the Titanium Backup folder in the internal storage where it originally was. I then re-installed Titanium Backup. Unfortunately, there's 0 apps that can be restored according to Titanium Backup. I even checked the Storage location and it even showed my backups.
Help ASAP. TIA
Install the apps before backup. It might work.

Nevermind, just found out that my backups were corrupted. Anyways, is there anyway to restore the data of the apps instead? I dont mind re-downloading the apps again as long as I can get my data back
In the titanium backup.
One off the two zips will have you apk inside. Just open the zip and install the apk

Hi there...how did you solve the problem?
I also have the same problem...I backed everything up then flashed cyanogenmod Marshmallow 6.0.1 then after flash copied all the backup folder back to internal memory so it can be seen by Titanium backup app and still doesn't work...it doesn't see anything...although it sees the location and the files under titanium backup/preferences/Backup Settings...Backup Folder Location..but in the app I cannot see any of the apps I backed up...how can I solve the problem..please help me
i think titanium needs to be updated to the latest version. the older version somehow doesn't work and don't see the backups properly (on my stock z3c pre rooted rom). after I installed the latest version, it worked like a charm
WARNING: Titanium doesn't backup the media folder for Whatsapp nor Wechat. backup the media that you want manually before flashing. the chatlogs are backed up properly

Hi Everyone
Sorry for digging up an old topic but I have a very similar situation and almost got gray hair already
Did anyone found a solution to the issue from opening post ?
Here's what I have done (and already regret it
- I was on stock 5.1.1 android for xperia z1 compact D5503
- I have installed Kingroot to remove some bloatware applications through titanium backup.
- Then I have made a backup of all applications of my interest (sms/mms, k9-mail etc.) and copied that to a folder on external sd card.
- Then I came over idea of Pre-rooted stock roms. Performed that (downgrade to 4.4.4, root, dual recovery, instal pre-rooted rom from zip).
- Installed TiBackup, copied all backups from sd to internal memory.
- Opened TiBackup - mind blown - no apps with backups.. In Preferences - Folder backups are shown.
Any ideas? Corrupted backups? That would make me very sad
Any help much appreciated.

OK,
I have solved the riddle. So easy and obvious that I didn't notice.
When I was doing all the stuff from the post above I was using sd card reader.
So to be on the safe side - i have copied all SD card content to win10 PC.
Then when I thought I was ready - copied all to 1 folder "Stuff" and then to SD card.
What I have missed was that during that process file extensions were changed. So all *.properties were now *.properties.txt and all *.bzip were *.bzip.zip and so on.
So my problem is solved. Perhaps someone else could use it too.
Best regards

thanks a lot .. that solve my problem
Yeh, SD card to the rescue!

Need help restoring app data from a backup

A few days ago, I upgraded my Redmi Note 4X from the Android 7 based MIUI 11 to custom MIUI 12 firmware, based on Android 9. Since I wanted to keep all my apps, I first rooted my phone and did a backup with Super Backup & Restore. After installing the new ROM (which was already rooted with Magisk) and installing Super Backup again. For some reason, it deleted all the data from its backup folder on my MicroSD Card. Fortunately, I was able to recover just about everything using some data recovery software on my PC.
For some reason, if I restore the apps using Super Backup, they crash when I open them. This is happening to, after flashing the MIUI 11 firmware again. It also is happening on a different phone.
As an alternative, instead of using Super Backup, I've tried copying and pasting the app data for an app (that has already been installed again on my phone) that Super Backup backed up, to apps folder on my phone's internal storage, replacing the current data there, with the data from by backup. However, when I do that, although what ever file manager I use, says it has successfully pasted the data, the app data on the phone does usually not get overwritten. To give two examples. When I try and replace the database used by the Meizu Notes app, with the database from the backup it does not get replaced. I even tried to do the same with AROMA File Manager with TWRP and it made no difference. Not only does the Notes app not show the data from my backup, but if I open the database file in a file manager, it also does not show that data. I find this to be strange, as I get no errors when pasting the data from my MicroSD Card and choosing to overwrite the existing data.
The second example, is this. I tried to use my old Coc Coc Browser's bookmarks file. After doing so, Coc Coc, had no bookmarks. I then manually added a bookmark to Coc Coc, after which, I tried copying the bookmarks file again. Coc Coc now actually had my old bookmarks and not the one bookmark I just added, which is quite strange, as it the file copy hadn't worked the first time.
I am looking for some way to be able to actually restore the app data from my backup. I've already quite a few hours trying to find a solution, with no luck so far. But I figure, that there must be some way to do it. Based on past experiences, I really should have made backups with two different backup apps, as I know that sometimes restoring backups can be problematic. But due to limited free space on my MicroSD Card, I decided not to. I just wish that there was a decent native backup solution for Android, as I always want all of my app data restored when switching ROMs, or phones and not just the apps themselves.
