I just want to ask you all a questions for the HTC Inspire 4G users.
What is your favorite ROM?
Why is it your favorite ROM?
http://forums.androidcentral.com/editpost.php?do=editpost&p=1712593
So far I have tried the follow roms
Stock ROM – Battery Life is really bad. Stock email for IMAP on multi email accounts issues duplicate emails and email sync is bad.
CyanogenMod Version 7.1 – Awesome ROM lots of features stable and good battery life. No issues with email. Fast reboots.
Android Revolution HD 4G Version 6.3.2 – Great ROM but I see no difference in the battery drain from the use of HTC Sense. Email for IMAP on multi email accounts issues duplicate emails and email sync is bad.
RCMix3D Version 4.0 – Good ROM lots of features but takes too long to load with ROM developers screens. Battery life seems better than Stock ROM. Email for IMAP on multi email accounts issues duplicate emails and email sync is bad.
So far I will stick with CyanogenMod for the stability so far I have seen.
Plus I have order a new extended battery to help with battery life.
My experience is limited to stock and LeeDroid v5.1.1, I'm pretty happy with it. I've not encountered any bugs and get about twice the battery use out of it depending on how much I use it. I do plan to try some others when I get tired of this one.

My favorite rom by far is Absolution 3.7. Best battery life, speed, no issues at all. I try out different sense roms all the time, like CoreDroid, but always come back to Absolution in the end.
People may ask why I have an HTC phone but don't use sense...it was my first Android and didn't know any difference. As soon as I rooted I tried out CM7 and Gingerbeast and fell in love with the AOSP roms.
I already answered this on Andriod Central, but it's Android Revolution HD.
Android Revolution HD FTW!!!!!!!!!
I use a mod of rcmix that's called RunnyMede Xtreme ROM, it has better battery life and more stability than rcmix3d.

I am using MIUI the freshly squeezed release. It is simple, super fast, and extremely stable.
I am also a big fan of CM7

I've only used Cyanogenmod 7 and asopX.
And so far I'm loving asopX. It's like a totally different phone. And ICS is just awesome. It's still in alpha but more than capable of being a daily driver for me.
Sent from my GT-P7510 using XDA
After all my tests on many ROM's I have decided to go with the CyanogenMod 7.1 due to stability and good battery life.
My second choice ROM is Android Revolution HD 4G Version 6.3.2 which I can see an improvement slightly on the stock email and battery drain.
I've used a couple from The Collective. They offer Absolution, Redemption, and Melchizedek. I've only used the last 2. They are ICS and get better as they get updated with newer versions.
I don't have any experience using ROMs before using these 2, so I'm a little gun shy to try anything not knowing how stable it is.
Up above, someone posted on using Sense for an HTC phone. With ICS, there is not a need for Sense, as it will probably take away from the appearance of basic ICS. This is something I see HTC eventually dropping in the future.

The only thing I see wrong with Sense from all the testing I did is Sense drains the battery faster even when the wifi, gps and bluetooth is disabled.
Sense?
For best performance/smoothness: WCX Illuminati Series
For tweaks with good performance/smoothness: RCMix3D 4.0
Other?
LexBoost, its the smoothest non-Sense rom i've used and its CM7 so its already customizable. Close 2nd would be BlackICE
In before the close!

Hi guys. I want to know which is the best ROM for daily use ? My gf has a Desire S and the light sensor doesn't work properly during a call so it's very easy to accidentally touch the 'mute' button (or any button).
Anyway, as I am not a Desire S owner I don't really know which ROM is the most stable and battery friendly.
Thanks.
LE: Sorry for the wrong section, I didn't see the 'Q and A' section on the main page so I thought it doesn't exist at all
Hi mate,
Obviously it's a bit subjective, but I really don't think you can beat lowveld's Endymion 3.3 ROM. It's still htc sense so your girlfriend won't have to get used to a new UI, only a more updated one! I've tried everything else and I'm always back to it!
It's very stable, I've never once had any problems. Battery life is the best of any ROMs I've tried too, I get nearly 2 days of moderate/heavy usage.
But the ROM requires any partition layout (on my Desire I have 1GB ext4 on my SD card for apps) ?
I think the best ROM for Saga is Endymion.
It is very stable and best thing is that the support thread is amazing.
Not jus the developer, but also the users are so knowledgeable and helpful. It's almost like a professional support center team!!
I like Endymion too...
But i also like CM7, becuause it is much faster!
Take oxygen Rom rock solid
Best Sense-Roms (for me): Endymion and Coredroid
My choice atm Reaper 1.2 (CM7.2 based) with an older version of zeam-launcher (for scrollable widgets). Fastest/Smoothest Rom i every used, no problems noticed and the battery last longer than on other Roms.
Depends on what your gf wants. If she just wants a rom with everything straight out of the box, it's better to pick a Sense-based rom. If she likes customizing, pick CM. And if she want an iOS feel for her Desire S, pick Miui.
The problem with the light sensor doesn't sound good. You should download an app to check the values of the light sensor. You might need to send the Desire S for repair. Better wait with flashing a new rom.
For me best room is ICS.
With sense 3.5 and android 2.3.5 (ics Virtuous Quattro RC1 is almost but not enough ready for me), i prefer RunnyDrOiD By PVTEAM
Thanks guys. My gf is not a ROM freak so she doesn't want to flash new updates for her ROM every day... so I'll stick to Sense 3.5. ATM I'm downloading Endymion V3.3 ROM and hopefully it'll work like a charm . I'll post here after I flash it...
CM 7 Room
I wanna try the CM 7 Room.. wich is the best? with no bugs or problems
Check out lowveld's "Reaper" ROM, it's based on CyanogenMod but with a number of tweaks.
I switched to it yesterday out of boredom, and I'm amazed by it, it's superfast, I've had zero FC's, and best of all it has lowveld's seal of quality so you know the support is top notch!
Check it out in the development thread.
Cm7 is super fast and has a great battery life but u won't have all the sense features, so It's up to u. I'm running on endymion 3.3 and i like it very much. Think I'm gonna wait for a stable ics Rom before shifting.
Cheers

I use CM7 because it fast and clean, I don't like HTC sense at all. And with ICS roms getting more stable I will probably switch to one of those soon.

+1.
I like Endymion because of HTC Sense and its functionality.
But I love CM7 due to its legendary performance.
Its up to your GF. But you should note, the smaller font size on Endymion does take quite a while to get used to!

Keep in mind, the *best* ROM varies from person to person.
That being said, Check this link:

For AOSP Roms, I personally like Liquid Smooth. Fast, stable ROM
and its been themed/skinned to look a great deal like Ice Cream Sandwich.
CyanogenMod 7 is another popular ROM for T-Bolt. Even tho it's not "officially"
supported, it appears to work just fine.
(Liquid Smooth is the ROM I'm currently running).
If you like SENSE Roms, the BAMF series seems to be quite popular and
the IKream series also looks great.
I personally suggest that you hack the phone with Revolutionary, then
do a full backup with ClockWorkMod. After that, you can flash all the ROMs
you want with a simple restore to put you back to stock.
Since you're experimenting with ROMs, I suggest you stick with ROMs that
do not require a new Radio. Radio's can brick your phone and there are plenty
of ROMs out that work with the Stock Radio.
Good Luck!
I really like Liquid Smooth 3.2. Its super fast and looks amazing. It's much like CM7 but I like it better. I rarely have force closes or any bugs at all.
Liquid 3.2 for AOSP with IMO's latest kernel. Don't forget to run speedtweak.sh after installing kernel.
Infected eternity Sense 3.5 with 3d custom Rosie and CPU running at 1.5.
If you like sense 2.1, well than you have no taste lol.
i have liquid smooth 3.2 installed and it run very nicely... i was wondering if anyone knows where to find some nice themes for this rom? i did a search but i cant seem to find any themes for this rom, is there a ICS theme available?
I use infected eternity 3.5 and love it. Good fast Rom with plenty of support.

The absolute BEST ROM (for me!) is the one I run. The BEST ROM for your cousin will be the one he likes.
I run Eternity, I also like Liquid Smooth and (oddly enough) I also like the stock ROM but rooted and de-crapified.
i personally like DV's miui but its not the stablest yet.

I can very highly recommend ThunderStick Full Blown if you want a Sense 3.0 ROM.
Using IMO's new 6.1 leanKernal, the MR4 radio... this thing is amazing.
So smooth, no lag whatsoever, and amazing battery life. I believe its the best Sense 3.0 ROM I've tried yet.

There always has to be one of these guys ^, the self appointed search police (btw, your link pops up "no matches" for me).
Some guys read every post ever posted, and complain about all of the ones not interesting enough for them. Rom's change on a daily basis, and there was absolutely nothing wrong with this thread. Even though I have had my TB since it was released, and have followed this forum ever since, I am still interested to see others opinions on CURRENT ROM's. That is why I opened this thread, why did you?
To the OP, I dual boot Gingeritis 1.2 (mainly because it came with the miui bar, even though pvy's app can be had separately in the market now) and CM7 (need it for work).
IMHO The best most stable is Eternity. It also has the best support
The best is the one that gives you the features you need. Everyone has different needs and taste

I'll start by only your wife is going to know what she wants so she'll need to continue to test and try ROMs until she finds it. Additionally, Camera apps are available on the market. Many of them have different features and all that jazz. Again, this is something she'll need to try out for herself since only she knows what she wants. Give a search and you'll find some threads about what camera apps people are using.
As for battery life, try using different kernels or radios. Alternatively try using some UV (Killersloth has the best UV scripts in the dev sections) and possibly setting the CPU speed down a touch if its OC'ed.
I'm currently using Absolution 3.7 (final ROM and to be honest there isn't much the Collective can do to make it better). I also use Redemption when I need my ICS fix, its in the Beta phase but minus the already known bugs with ICS its very stable IMHO.
I'm using bindroid 2.5 it has great features and good battery life I've used basically all the roms you have and this Rom is by far my favorite

I am agreed with Bacon....your wife is the one that has to choose. Anyway, I see that you have all versions out of date of the roms. CoreDroid is now V9.4 and things have improved a lot....also ARHD is V7.0.3 and LeeDroid is V5.1.1....
You should try some of them again or all of them. To me CoreDroid is amazing and works beutifully...but nobody will know better that you what is best for you.

Have her try IceColdSandwich 6.2. I have been running it for a few days now and battery life seems to do rather well.
Haven't played with all the settings yet but it seems pretty snappy.
Just my thought. Whatever you choose good luck.
This is a matter of she will have to try them and make up her own mind. You will get a different answer every time. Example. I could tell you to use a Sense rom and to stay as far away from MIUI as you can, but then another will say MIUI is cool. See what i mean.
Also please bear in mind this is a Development site, not a Rom site. All the roms here are Betas and will always be betas as they are always a work in progress. Most people don have the time to invest in rooting out the bugs that come with running a custom rom.
Thread closed
People are always posting up new threads asking for advice on this ROM vs. that ROM. Well, I haven't tried them all, but I've tried quite a few of the more popular ones recently. I'm not going to pick these ROMS apart. If you want more info about what I liked or didn't like about a particular ROM I've tried, go ahead and ask.
I got my Sensation back in January. I used the stock Gingerbread for a couple of months. Then got frustrated when the T-Mobile ICS update got delayed and have been on a flashing frenzy ever since.
I've been trying a lot of ROMs lately. I started with ARHD, then went to Elegancia, then Hypernonsense, then back to Elegancia, then Sense 4 Elegancia, then back to 3.6, then Virtuous Inquisition, then Opensensation (CM9), and back to Elegancia again. I've also tried Sebastion, faux, and bricked kernels - I prefer bricked best.
I honestly don't a see a performance difference between Sense, stripped Sense, or AOSP ROMs. I have System Tuner Pro and always monitor memory usage. I thought that the stripped and AOSP ROMs would have gobs of free memory available, but they just don't. They're no better or worse. I also was compelled to try those ROMs to improve battery life. Again, the experience didn't match the hype.
It all comes down to personal preference. Each ROM has its own glitches. But from my experience, full Sense 3.6 ROMs are the most functional and most stable. I loved the Sense 4.0 ROM I tried, except that Sense crashed on me like 3 times a day having to pull the battery each time. For me, nothing beats the Sense widgets. I live in the email and calendar widgets for work and the music widget in the car. No other widgets come close.
I think I'm gonna quit screwing around with it for a while. I am very happy with the Elegancia Sense 3.6 ROM / Bricked kernal combo. It's pretty much already modded/themed the I way I would do it. I can just flash it and go. I will try the Sense 4.0 version again when it's more mature. I loved it, I just can't have my phone crashing on me constantly.
I still want to try MIUI and will probably try CM9 again when it's official. I really like some of the home screen setups people have been able to pull off with their AOSP ROMs. But I think the widgets will always pull me back to a full Sense ROM. The only widgets that can compete, you have to pay for - and they're still not as good. Also, the AOSP camera blows compared to the Sense camera. In the end, it's all about what's functional for you.
In conclusion, try a few, try a bunch... don't get lost in the hunt for better battery life and more performance, because - 1) those 2 things don't go together... & 2) those 2 things are largely the same across all ROMS whether you're full Sense, stripped-Sense, or AOSP. Just find what you like and enjoy!
SO wutZ da best roms to use?
Just joking, but it's too bad some people are serious.
Its all about your liking that's it otherwise there is not a rom whit better battery life than any others

I've been using Ordroid (Sense4) for a week or so now and I've found it quiet stable to be honest. I haven't experienced any crashes.
The batterylife was in 5.0.X about 17 hours (2 hours of screen turned on).
V6.0.0; I can't say if there are anything wrong just yet since its been out for about 2 days only and I've used it for 1 day. but the first batterycycle was about 21 hours with 2h 5m screen turned on. Only thing I could complain about with Ordroid is the partially working BT, I can't say anything about the Wifi-tethering issue because I am not using it.
Hmm, well I guess that was that.
The partially working Bluetooth issue is across all Sense 4 ROMs. It has to do with the fact that Sense 4 was ported from another device with different BT hardware - so the Sense drivers aren't fully compatible.
With the release of T-Mobile's official RUU, it may be time try Sense 4 again and see if some of the previous issues I experienced are fixed now. But BT will probably always only be partially working due to the driver issue.

I tried Elegancia Sense 4 again last night. I thought it was time to give it another go since there have a few builds released since the last time. Unfortunately, nothing has changed. Whatever issues I'm having are buried deeper than what gets changed from build to build.
My phone has crashed on my twice in the last 5 hours. It's unfortunate. I really like Sense 4 - I think it's cleaner & smoother than 3.6. The camera is better and faster than 3.6. But if your phone crashes on you while changing menus or doesn't wake up and you have to pull the battery all the time, then it's useless.
Does anyone else have these issues with Sense 4? Maybe another Sense 4 ROM is better? I have not yet tried another Sense 4 ROM because it seems they all use the same base. Maybe I should try another and see if it works better...
The new InsertCoin ROM Sense 4.0 is out now, looks very stable, only FM Radio not working. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1546731
I just flashed OrDroid Sense 4. I'll give that one a shot. It has a different base - the new leaked Ville RUU instead of the One S. The Ville and Sensation share the same processor, so maybe that will do the trick.
EDIT: That one's no good for me either. It has its own set of glitches I'm not willing to live with.
Now trying Steve's new TMOUS Elegancia with Bricked kernel.
Any tradeoffs for non Sense ROMs? I know the camera app is better on HTC's but other than that? Is there a Torch app similar to the stock one? Etc..
...and back on Elegancia 3.7.6. lol
I am running the updated TMOUS firmware now, tho. along with the other radio fix for TMOUS users. This might be the best combo I've run yet. But I'm still anxious for a fully functional Sense 4 ROM.

Picking a Rom is a personal thing .what's best for me might not be best for your needs.I highly highly recommend you try out SEVERAL different roms for yourself and then make your choice for your daily Rom! That's the fun part! I've probably tried almost all the ics roms available! See what suits you're needs and style! We are lucky to have such wonderful developers to give us many different choices! So instead of asking what's best in others opinions, see what's best in YOUR opinion! Each Rom has a area that tells you what's working and what isn't, they are very up front about that so read that area, decide what you want, try out SEVERAL different ones then make your OWN choice! For me I really like the lightning Rom. However it might not be for you! So have fun and experiment with different things and form your own opinion. Best wishes and I genuinely hope this helps you out. Happy flashing!

But when you want something customized for your needs, you gotta try those available ROM. for me so far, i have Insert Coin for sense 4 in my phone always also the viper 1.1.0 but I'm still testing other ROM. What counts for when it comes to ROM is performance first then the looks. :good:
Enjoy Hunting :highfive:
I'd agree with trying the custom ROMs and work out what fits best. Like a try before you buy session.
REMEMBER, take Nandroid backups at every opportunity so you can revert to a previous ROM easily. That's probably the most important aspect.
Yep, take a few for a spin! I went from awesome Virtuous to awesome Lightning! Happy Flashing!
Communisation
Lighting
I agree there are just too many ROMS to try them all. But there are also way too many threads of this sort. For all those wondering which ROMS are good here are my recommendations-
ARHD or InsertCoin if you want closest to stock Sense 3.6 with preference to ARHD cos its updated more.
Elegancia Sense 3.6 if you want a tweaked version. I adore this ROM. Themed version available.
ViperS ROM if you want an extremely flexible Sense 4.0 experience. Elegancia 4.0 if you want a themed Sense 4.
OpenSensation for AOSP.
BerserkMode if you want Sense parts with AOSP speed and smoothness. It's probably better than Virtuous Inquisition now thanks to updates and improvements.
MIUI if that's your taste. There are about 3 or 4 threads. I'm personally waiting for the AOSP version update.
New Roms that may be worth a try- Lightning, TRAD Sensation (both Sense 4)
ROMS that you absolutely HAVE to cultivate to your own taste (for purists)- the hyper roms. props to Splder for carrying on Kristofs work.
Others- CM10 by Bruce if you're adventurous and don't mind temporarily sactificing your camera.
Personally I'd start with (Elegancia 3.6 Stock/themed is upto you) its amazing.. ViperS and BerserkMode of of course CM9. After that you have a pretty decent experience by which to judge other Roms. Happy Flashing! Hope this helped you and any others with the same question.

Paranoid Android! Hands down!
The ability to put your HTC into tablet mode is wonderful. As is the ability to custom choose the DPI for each individual app on your phone. After using Gmail in tablet mode I never want to go back to the preschool-like interface Gmail uses by default for phones. And with all the themes available for CyanogenMod you can REALLY customize the look and feel of every visual aspect of your phone's UI. I held out for a LONG time, I thought Sense was "pretty" and the way to go. But I've found ROMS based on AOSP/AOKP/CM run circles around Sense performance wise. Sense is a HOG for resources plan and simple. Install Apex launcher in Paranoid Android and it's quite close to perfect. Fast, themeable, visually pleasing, and the ability to take advantage of the fact your Sensation has an HD display.
That said, if you're still a sense holdout, the Viper ROM wipes the table with pretty much all other Sense based ROMS (though Daemon looks a bit promising).
For a STABLE ICS AOKP ROM, I like the EyeCandy ROM. (I boot into this restore when I need to use the camera as camera isn't functioning in JellyBean yet)
*edit*
Unlike a lot of other posters, I pretty much have tried EVERY ROM available for the Sensation. I have a tech addiction!
After a while the Sense 4.0 ROMS all start looking the same, except for the truly innovate ones that stand out from the pack like Viper, Daemon, Lightning, and RMS Blue Sense.
I tried ARHD, but once I found there were Sense 4.0 ROMS for my Sensation, I never looked back, never bothered trying another 3.6 ROM/ Sense 3.6 just seemed outdated to me at that point.
I prefer AOKP-based ROMS to CM as AOKP lets you tweak a heck of a lot more of the UI as well as system performance tweaks.
And I hate MIUI with a passion. Stay far far away from MIUI unless you really enjoy giving yourself a headache.

You can look in the change logs of the roms and they will tell you EXACTLY what is working and what's not.the developers are very open about that. Each Rom has a area what tells you EXACTLY what is working. So there are no surprises. Most roms have most everything working . They will tell you what's not working on page one. Around the change logs. Always look at that first then you will not have any surprises if something is not working. I really hope this helps you out. So if you find a Rom your interested in just read that area and it will clearly tell you what to expect. Best wishes.

Currently 1.9.5a .. I've used 1.92 as well as 1.4 in the past.
I know a lot of people will probably say arhd because it has been the most popular rom. However, my Sensation kept crashing/randomly turning off with it. The only rom that hasn't caused me too many problems is InsertCoin and OrDroid. I have been using OrDroid for several months now and couldn't be happier. I will probably stick to OrDroid for a while.
