This morning sow a notification from Wotan Server: NOW ICS 4.0.3 FIRMWARE FREE FOR FLASH!!!
Because i'm at work now i can't verify that.
Someone can see it and publicate?
And: How to root that firmware???
THE NEW ICS FIRMWARE IS FOR GSM ONLY AND IS AVAILABLE FOR XPERIA ARC S, RAY, NEO V.
The server says that the ICS firmware for XPlay "WILL BE RELEASED IN A FEW DAYS"
Sadly.... We will keep'n waiting...... :-(
link? explain? cdma or just gsm?
Do you mean this?
http://www.wotanserver.com/en/sony-ericsson/se/xperia-play-r800/unlock-tool/debranding-flash
To the right it shows Current Firmwares and a bunch of 4.0 firmwars. To my knowledge this site is NOT for R800x users, as R800x is CDMA and I believe this site only does GSM. Or unless you are unlocking your bootloader, in which case this site will work with R800x for that only... if I am wrong on this assessment please correct me.

Just to clear up one issue, I used WotanServer a few days ago to flash the .88 (Android 2.3.3) firmware to my Verizon R800x when my bootloader was still locked.

I still can't to verify that, but the short list that you have should be for your location. I'mfrom Chile and the list of available firmwares for "me" is very large...
I'll go home in a cuple of hours, will take a look and post it anyway.

If you are using windows 7 use the snipping tool under the start button to take a snapshot of the page and post it here so we can take a look at it...
The only thing i noticed is that flashing is no longer free.
Rip wotan, you will be missed

as everyone knows and has seen, there are CWM's for locked bootloaders available for Xperia J, Tipo and Miro, yet there isn't any for Xperia E... i have no idea if its something easy or hard to do as i am not a developer.. but would it be possible for anyone that has some knowledge to at least try to make it happen? i would be VERY grateful and im sure pretty much every other E owner would be grateful too.

since jelly bean on xperia e patched the exploits used for cwm on locked bootloader, hopefully something would work on ICS

Sony is Up dating 4.3 for Xperia C by July 2014
Android 4.3 update for numerous Xperia smartphones
Thanks to our source over at Sony India we have been able to get some new information on the long awaited Android 4.4 and Android 4.3 update for numerous Xperia smartphones. The leaked document shows the status 13 Xperia Smartphones that will get their software updates in the coming months, the most focused one is Xperia SP that is now listed to get the Android 4.4.2 update sometime in June – July. Along with the Android 4.4.2 update there are also some low end Xperia’s that will have to do with Android 4.3 which should be guessed as a final update for them. Have a look at the image below and see if your Xperia is the lucky one.
As you can see the document list’s the Xperia SP to get Android 4.4.2 as reported earlier, while for the Xperia L, T & Xperia C things will go only as far as Android 4.3 JellyBean. Also keep in mind that looking at the speed of Software Updates Sony is moving, there is no doubt that the wait can be longer than listed. Even the Xperia Z is waiting for the KitKat update when it should have had it long ago, the Xperia Z1 and Z Ultra are the only lucky ones till date but that’s no surprise as they were flagship devices until the Xperia Z2 was revealed back at MWC 2014. Stay tuned for more updates and let us know your views on this topic in the comments section below.
*Do remember that these leaks don’t turn out to be a 100% true at all times and hence we can’t be held responsible for what Sony decides.

I think there would never be an update for our XC. Unless someone would give us a port of 4.4 or even 4.3. Well what's new about sony? They tend to abandon their devices. Lucky for them they still have loyal Xperia'ns like us to buy their products. LOL

We don't need sony to give 4.3 update. We just need sony to give us update to unlock our device's bootloader. If we can unlock bootloader then we don't need sony to give us 4.3 update anymore as we can create our own custom roms

Hello everyone,
I recently bought a Z3 D6643 (build 23.0.A.2.106) that is marketed in Brazil by Claro Telco with DTV (1-seg) receiver. How should I proceed with bootloader unlocking and rooting? I mean, is there anything that affects this specific model regarding BL unlocking and/or rooting? Am I stuck with my stock ROM because of the DTV tuner specifics, or any ROM is supposed to support it?
This is my first Xperia, so I'm a little lost here.
Thanks in advance,
I have no idea whether or not the D6643 can be rooted, as I wasn't actually aware of this particular variant. I do know, however, that you can check whether or not your bootloader can be unlocked by checking the service menu. Enter this code in your dialer:

There's still not a lot of talk about this specific variant since it's only available in Brazil (as far as I know). I have been lurking around here trying to find more information as well (I have one Vivo branded) and from what I can tell you can install the generic D6603 firmwares on it and you only lose the DTV. There's a specific thread regarding bootloader unlocking and rooting but you need to be aware that at this moment this means that you lose your DRM keys if you unlock. So read more about it and make an informed decision if you decide to go ahead because at this moment it's not reversible.
I bought this variant too (but still time to get D6633 dual since I didn't received yet) . My concern is about CM, will FreeXperiaProject be targeted for all variants or only D6603? Any hint about that @jerpelea ? thanks
hey conterraneos,
looking at the white paper by sony, it appears this D6643 is the D6653 with TV funcionality. As the D6653 is widely available, i'm fairly sure that most of the custom rom projects will be compatible with it, and we'll be missing the .apk executable for the TV.
however, when we get to the point where custom roms are available we will hopefully have root already (w/o losing DRM keys that is), and we'll be able to pull the DTV apk from the original Sony firmwares and inject it in any rom that we want. I believe that as long as your kernel supports the TV Tuner (in which case the stock obviously does) all you need is the TV app itself. Many other brazilian variants of flagship phones have TV as well, does anyone here have a past experience on this matter? I'm a user that has just seen the light and will switch from Apple now, so not a lot of Android experience apart from my HP TouchPad tablet.

I've read some threads and ppl saying that there's an official and an unofficial (Test Point, link below) method for unlocking BL. Using the unofficial would preserve the DRM keys, unfortunately it seems to involve physical wiring so I will not go through that way, at least for now.

So, do you think the D6653 kernel supports the DTV tuner? If so, just pulling the original TV apk would be great.

The kernel will remain your stock D6643 one. The ROM that would be one for the D6653. It's just a matter of finding out where the drivers for the TV Tuner are located. I would assume they're kernel-based, but I might be wrong. Again, this is my first Android handset, so I'm just speaking on an engineer's PoV.

I hear that Sony sells D6643 unbranded via website and stores but also distributes branded ones for carriers. I'm looking for the customizations codes for the unbranded, but since it is about $200 expensive via website, it's hard to find one. Do you think you can get this info?

Hello there!
I have bad news... As you saw in the title, there won't be any official release of Lollipop for any NON-Xperia Z range smartphone, like M2, M2 Aqua, E1, E3, T2, T3, C3, etc...
Here the proofs:
And this is happening while the Moto G is updating to Lollipop officially via OTA.. Good job Sony, you did it again! :good:
If the confirmation isn't revoked. Mmm, they're pushing us to buy Xperia M4 Aqua instead or a Z series. Which isn't an option for everyone. This is bull****.
Either way, the work which galaxyfreak, erickas and FXP are doing is amazing. They aren't leaving us without any hope xD. Thanks to them :3.

Yeah, that's absolutely right, but a rom without camera or with random reboots it's not stable for daily use rom... That's why I went back to stock, I couldn't use the phone normally with that..
Hope they can find a solution for them soon... That would give our Xperia M2 a new life.. A new start...

Totally right. But, the progress they've made is fairly enough. Camera is a pain in the ass, we all know that, but, still, the development makes some good progresses. So, still waiting. In some point they'll make it.
Sorry for asking!
Can you provide link where you found it?
They force us to buy much expensive Xperia Z series phones because of lollipop!!!!!

Obviously it's on their twitter. Then again, I knew this was coming, considering they pusged 3 updates for Kitkat. On other notes, erikcas managed to get deep sleep working, so only thing left is camera and FM
Been saying it since they confirmed it in a email almost 5mth ago but no one would have it. I was considering buying a second Sony device and a Sony smart watch to go with my m2. Don't think I'll bother now or if I do may have to consider another brand. also surely there is still 6mths of the 18mth update cycle left to run

Really? C3? xD. Well, in many ways M2 catch C3's up, so, might be a great hope for some of us. But, everything is so ridiculous at the same time -w-.

Check in the screenshots that the kernel is from Dec 2014... IMO, that was actually a test to see how lollipop performed in mid-range phone. Maybe the experiment went wrong and that's why they are now telling via twitter there won't be lollipop for us... That's what I understand from this situation..
Edit: Also, still no new firmware certidied for Xperia C3..

It's only about the money they would have to pay programmers to prepare Lollipop update for mid-range devices.

Yep, they only take care of the Z series users.. Even though the original Z is now more than 2 years old, and the M2 less than one..

Screw FM, if they fix Camera, almost all people switch to custom ROM.

True, that's why ppl with Xperia SP scream in agony when they heard M2 is getting Kitkat, not SP
I've heard that french local authority can pursue a company who are setting voluntary a planned obsolescence, so why not using that against sony?
Sony did stopped the update, so that obsolescence, since Lollipop is here....
thats for cases when the company includes something in the device which stops it from operating. a phone with an old android version is still a working phone
Well, i think this news will make you happier guys!
Link
This does not solve the lack of official Lollipop release for M2
I will never buy a sony again
