hey guys, i am talking about the "IceCreamTosti build 32". I am obviously a noob, and only managed to install this cause of a detailed description. I dont know how to install the googleapps though(not included in description It must be really easy i guess, but i still dont manage! please help me out, do i install it in MGDLDR? if so, how do i get back into MGDLDR?, it boots directly into android after pressing the powerbutton. or do i install it in OI Dateimanager? Zipped or Unzipped? please help me out guys!=) i kinda need my phone, and was so frustrated with windows... THX anyways!
Your post could use a few more details, what phone do you have and exactly what ROM did you flash?
On my Galaxy SII, I flash the Googleapps .zip file from CWM. I can get to CWM recovery by holding the volume up, volume down and power button until I see the boot screen appear twice, then I release the buttons and the phone boots into CWM recovery. I have no idea if this process will work for your phone.
ok sure, i have a "htc hd2" and flashed this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1441462
It says in the post, that you need googleapps, but idk how to=)
thanx for an answer anyway=)
If you successfully flashed AOKP, I believe you should be able to reboot into recovery. After the phone has started up, press and hold the power button for about a second to open the power menu, from there you should see an option to Reboot, click that and then select Recovery from the list of reboot options.
ok thx mate! its not working for me though yet, but i can imagine that is because i have tried to install the roms in the running android system, not in recovery mode. ill flat the whole thing out again, and start all over! ill let you know how i did! sounds like this is the way to go!=)
ok guys ive done it! its simple as!=) after installing aokp there is a button "reboot" or "next". if you click next you can choose another .zip to install=) so dont even restart but install directly afterwards! (if any one else had this problem=)
im really happy with aokp, best flash so far for me! awesome!

I am def a newB and have taken the plunge into custom roms. I followed the directions to installing Infuse with modded 3e recovery and cwm going to rom mgr and doing the download and now my phone is just displaying "SAMSUNG" across screen its been about 10 minutes. Question is, is the rom installing or is the phone bricked and what are the signs of a brick? How would long does a wiped Infuse download usally take?
It shouldn't take that long
infuse 4g "a lot a screen real estate"
So how would i know if the phone is bricked???

take battery out and try turning it on again after putting it back in. if it starts booting and you get the lady talking, your good, but if it just sits there, you most likely have a brick.
No worries though. Just follow these steps to get back to stock and your golden:
Ultimate Unbrick Thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1116251
once your back to stock you can flash the community kernel via odin:
Community kernel:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1119598
Once this is done, your rooted (just need to download superuser from market), and you have been lagfixed(with the lady talking on boot) and you have CWM to flash roms easily (accessible via: turning phone off, holding down volume buttons, press power till you see samsung logo, then keep holding volume buttons till red text comes up)
Then you should be back to the game
I really appreciated my heart is racing right now with uncertainty. I havent done what u mentioned but i did hold the power button and volume keys and now I do have access to a red menu that says ClockworkMod recovery v2.5.1.3 - Voodoo lagfix. does this mean anything???

the update.zip wont do anything. there's nothing to flash...
Another thing you can try is to flash the rom again, since you have access to red CWM... then if that doesnt work, follow the unbrick procedure
May be dumb question but how do i flash rom from red screen(link???) thanks
Assuming you have the zip for the ROM installed to your internal SD (CWM can't find stuff on the external SD unfortunately...)
Use VolUp/VolDown to navigate through CWM.
Wipe Data/Factory Reset should always be done when changing from one ROM to another. Usually not needed when updating a ROM from a previous version of the same one.
Then choose "Install zip from sdcard" then "Choose zip from sdcard" and navigate to the zip for the ROM.
However if Voodoo Lagfix is interacting strangely with your phone, other steps may be needed.
Good news is that if you can get into CWM, at least your kernel is in decent shape.
For whatever reason I never heard the lady speaking when I installed my ROM, although I may have gone into the other room and done something else.
Well for some reason I cant go to the page with the GTG unbrick download which sucks idk maybe u can email me the zip file [email protected] if not I guess i'll be back once I get home and try to figure this thing out. smh phone down
Thanks Entrophy512 I will give this a try and get back w the results
Entrophy512 followed your directions screen is displaying SAMSUNG you have any idea about how long the phone should be in this state???
Not long
5 minutes ish
is the lady talking??

Install TiBu from the market.
Restore user apps + data - don't restore system data. You may in that case still need to put in the info for your Google account, etc and tweak some settings.
Ok im finally up and running. Question what is the proper way to turn the device completely off. I tried yesterday and I see I have an extended power off menu with various options. What do they mean? Yest I chose turn phone off and the phone went to the downloading screen with the big yellow android w the shovel. Again thanks to you all.
firsth of all hi to everyone, im new here , so be patient.
i was searching on the forum and try to solve my problem, but no succes.
all the methods ive tried are a no go
my problem here is that im already rooted (razorclaw tool), superuser installed aswell, so i dont know what else do i need to enter on the recovery mod (i know i have to press down power button and volume - , at the same time), no succes either, the TF just restar as always or the little android with an exclamation sign appears and i have to restart the TF again
my problem is that i cant install custom ROMS, because it always skip to home screen or to the android with the exclamation.
i cant see all those options that lot of people tallk(install from zip, backup current rom, install X rom)because i never get to that part....
so my problem again, how to install some tool that will allow me to enter in clockwork mode (??) ??, and enable those option at the intial boot (power button & vloume - at same time ) to be abble to access the install from zip, backup current rom, wipe data , etc etc
please if someone can help me with another step by step i will be really happy
I am having the same problem

i think i have this problem since i got the " FIX the problem with DOWNGRADE from .21 to .19", something along those lines, with the method someone posted before (add both files to SD card but rename one of those and then apply update)

but have you installed CWM recovery?
User RecoveryInstaller to install CWM.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1346180
/agree with @baseballfanz
Check that you have CWM installed. Then you should hold volume down + power button till you see in the screen something like (push vol+ to enter recovery). It will appear on the top of the screen. You have to wait a little since it first appears the ASUS screen and if you stop pushing the buttons at that time, the TF starts normally. You have to hold them a little longer till the text appears in the screen.

This is 100%. We've already told you this, in this thread This Thread.
You need to install a recovery image access recovery.
If you are this unsure of what you are doing i HIGHLY suggest stepping back and reading all about SU access and the rooting procedures again.
The "flash a new ROM to ________ device" steps are pretty much the same for every Android device w/o a locked bootloader.
Root
make sure SU access can be obtained
flash a custom recovery image
reboot into recovery
do a nandroid back up
wipe
flash
reboot
If you cannot get to where you want. You are doing something wrong. millions of people have followed these same step on millions of devices w/o any problems.

In essence there is nothing wrong with asking for help. Heck even the smartest of android hackers started somewhere, asking questions the selves.
The problem lays in the fact that is is pretty common knowledge and a simple search would of gave you the answers you wanted.
Keep in mind nothing i say is meant to come across rude. Sharp maybe, rude? no. If you take what i say as rude. I'm sorry.
No problem. I have been trying very hard to learn on my own. The problem I had with this was trying to find information specific to the transformer. I have done quite a bit with my other android devices and the transformer is new to me and since I use it at work every day I am probably a bit more cautious about it. Thanks, I am working on it.

hello all,
I am new here and I have been searching the forums for a few days as well as the internet but I could not seem to find one that had my same problem, but if there is can you please direct me to it and apologies for that.
I was installing a new rom, the Blackout ICS Incredible v3.0.0 FULLY WORKING!!! [4.0.4][Sense 3.6], onto my inspire i did a full wipe using FULL_WIPE_1.5_EXT4_.zip and I cleared the caches. the install i thought went well because it went to 100% and i even chose what kind of background i could as well as choosing to over clock my processor. The phone the restarted after all of that and it went to the htc screen then faded to black, after about ten minutes of it being black screen i pulled out the battery.
Now when i try to recover it it wont go into hboot and it just goes to the htc white screen then it quickly fades to a black screen and stays like that.
so my question to you all is a Jtag the only way i can save my phone or is there something else i can do?

True, but I'm hoping you are doing something wrong.
Pull battery, wait a few minutes, place back in. Press and hold Volume down, then power button. Does it go into hboot? If not.

I really appreciate the help Teichopsia , but I've tried the power /volume - method many times and it still wont go to hboot. if it helps this is the 5 time i have have flashed a rom on my phone (and it is rooted) and yes sadly i had to be the first person to be unlucky enough to get my phone bricked from the blackout rom :crying:
i think i could get out of this mess if i could only get into hboot.
reading the method you linked to me will it work if i cant even get to the hboot screen? my phone only stays of the white htc logo screen for about 3 seconds then it goes to a lit black screen
on a side note should i report what happened to team blackout to see if they have any soloutions?
The only thing I can think of is trying to get into hboot without the sd card and sim card.
The rest is beyond my knowledge.
You'll need to wait for someone more knowledgable than myself to help you.
Remember, first press and hold the volume down button, while holding that down press the power button. Do not release either button till it shows the hboot. If that doesn't work, pull the battery for five minutes and try again. If you did this part exactly like that, then you can skip it.
Well, you already posyed your issue here, just wait for someone to help you. Glevitan is bound to show up sooner or later.
Sent from a dream.
I would see if you can send commands to it from adb while its in the blacked out state. adb is pretty easy to use and can be found easy online. if you get it installed type "adb devices", if it recognizes your device type "adb reboot bootloader" or "adb reboot recovery".

i also have the same problem. i'm using a DHD. and to add to that, my volume rocker is broken. i wonder why the warning not to select reboot immediately after installation wasnt part of the download as a readme or something. i may have just lost a perfectly good phone as a result
I can confirm as a third user and one knowledgable in flashing roms that the ICS blackout does the same thing to my phone. I can also confirm that pulling the battery and then trying hboot just results in the white htc screen instead of just popping up hboot. I was able to boot into recovery from the white htc screen by using adb and doing the "adb reboot recovery" command. I am able to restore my backup just fine so you guys will be able to fix it. it must just have a bad boot image for the version of hboot that we have installed.

Im sorry but this is the first time i have ever done something like that can you give me a step by step instruction how to do it or a link that says how, i dont want to sound lazy but I scared to mess up my phone even more
Use this guide its very easy. if you have already used your phone on your pc and the drivers are installed all you need to do is download the easyadb and follow the instrucions to where is says to type adb.exe. once it is started just type adb devices to make sure it sees your device and then adb reboot recovery
Ignore the fact the instructions are written for a xoom as it will work for any android device with the drivers already installed, which they should be from rooting, syncing and all the other stuff you have probably already done on pc.
UPDATE: I reinstalled ICS blackout but instead of wiping myself i just let aroma installer do it and everything went fine this time. I noticed the aroma installer reformats everything to ext4. its not mentioned in the op as a requirement but seems thats the case. Hboot version has nothing to do with it like i previously commented. It really is a cool rom with both ics and sense. I have only tried the sense version so far
Hope this helps?

Just in case-- to get into recovery you must press and hold the volume down for a few seconds and then hold the power button. Do not do press them both at the same time. I realize you wrote that your volume rocker seems or is broken but I wrote above just in case-- when I first tried to root my phone, I was pushing them both at first and thought my rocker was broken....
Since you rooted the phone originally-- not sure how you did it. But if you go to this link you can download recovery flash. Read the "readme" file:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=29208930&postcount=10
Assuming you can get into recovery-- then reload the blackout ROM but you MUST let the aroma installer wipe and format do not use any other wipe/format tool. Then do NOT press the "FINISH" button-- instead press the back arrow-- you want to go back to flash recovery and reboot from there. If you press finish (like I did multiple times, the phone will just lockup).
Best of luck!
Three of us confirmed that hboot was inaccessible even after battery pull. I am no stranger to this device as well. The only fix was using adb reboot. Also if you actually reformat your partitions to ext4 before install, then aroma will install correctly. It's just not mounting anything if it's still in ext3 format. Definitely better to just do the full wipe within aroma though. I do agree with not hitting restart from aroma but someone already mentioned that a few posts up.
Thank you thank you thank you
After putting it into abd it recognized it and then i was able to put it into hboot. Im not out of the woods yet, but after not being to see hboot in so long, well its just amazing to see it again
ok now its in hboot it gives me 4 choices

Reboot

power down
apologies again but just for reassurance which one should i select?

Again I am eternally grateful to you guys and team black out for this great Rom!
I have rooted on other devices and done this in the past. This time it seemed to be going very well. I hit a snag and was hoping you guys could help.

I got the the device unlocked.
I then ran ez unlock and it unlocked.
I then ran ez recovery and had it load CWM 6.0.1 and it worked.
I then opened up EZ recovery and hit the reboot recovery, and nothing happened.
Thank you for the help!
Did you click the flash button in ez recovery for cwm6.0.1 before hitting the reboot recovery? Just checking since you didn't clarify in post.
Did ez recovery ask to allow root when you started the app?

You could try to power off your phone and try to get into recovery via volume up + home key + power button hold.
Might need to run the root script again.
I'm new to this phone so don't have many ideas. Hopefully someone else will come along and offer more help.

I tried that but cant seem to get it to work. I know in an older CWM I would see update from zip option and be able to find the zip and then use that to load ROM. This time its not an option.
OK....
So I had the gapps and rom on my device and not the SD card. I moved both to the SD card, turned the phone off and then used the 3 buttons to turn it on.
1. I got a message using a custom rom can hurt your phone etc... continue
2. Then it said downloading and do not turn off target.
I never even made it to CWM screen. Umm is this a good thing? Sorry my last device was the original EPIC and this is very different from the CWM and rooting etc.
With my limited experience with this device, this is what I would do.
Use odin to flash phone back to factory stock, there are guides on this.
Then start again.
There might be other ways to deal with your issues, but it doesn't sound like something is right. Sorry if this isn't what you wanted to hear, but since no one else has chimed in, I would start fresh.
Sorry I can't be of any real help.
Hey Dark thanks for the help, I did it all and now CWM is working.. normally. Thanks again!
First off, an eternally grateful thanks to @shabbypenguin for compiling what seems to be the missing link to flashing a custom recovery. Please direct all thanks to him. Check out his profile for a donation link!

As with anything non stock, only you are responsible if something goes wrong.
These are the steps I used for my Sprint Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 and it worked for me.
It may not work for you.
I cannot provide support in case anything goes wrong.
There are virtually NO ROMS out that I'm aware of that are able to work with Sprint service. My tab is out of contract so I'm going to be working on loading wifi only ROMS.
Backup your shizzle. Expect to lose data and you won't be caught off guard.
MultiPart:
Install CWM
Compatable ROM information
Requirements:
Appropriate Samsung Drivers
ODIN
The shabbypenguin magical image. @shabbypenguin
ATT Espresso ChildOfTheHorm clockwork recovery
Root. Cydia Impactor works on this tablet to root it. Install SuperSU and Busybox off the market once it's rooted.
Optional (Recommended):
Stock Recovery Image..
Return to Stock Thread for a just in case scenario.
Steps:
Make sure drivers are installed and ADB can see your tab.
Reboot into download mode by either typing "adb reboot download" or by holding volume down & power when the device is off.
Open ODIN. Usually do this with administration privelages to negate any shennanigins.
Device should show up on the top left. Click AP / PDA and select "espresso10spr-cwm-test1.tar". Don't click start yet!
Get ready to hold volume up. Auto Reboot is selected by default. Don't click Start yet! When the flash is done the tablet will reboot. You want to go into the recovery on the first reboot or the flash may not take.
Get ready to hold volume +, press Start. When the tablet turns off, HOLD volume +. It will say booting recovery, act like it took, and turn off. This is the voodoo feature of the ShabbyPenguin file.
Turn the device back on, and reboot into download mode again. This time selecting the "cwm_recovery_espresso10att_childofthehorn.tar.md5" file. Same thing, get ready to hold the Volume + button when the tablet reboots.
Viola. Violin. Vegasaurious Rex. Clockwork should boot. At least it did for mine.
If anything goes wrong, there's a link in the optional list to revert your tablet back to stock. As well as the RECOVERY ONLY stock image you can flash with ODIN.
Some footnotes, sometimes with my tablet it doesn't like to turn on after a failed flash. A workaround for this is to hold the power for around 3-5 seconds, wait one second, and then hold Volume -. You should be presented with an option to go to download mode or restart the tablet. Select restart the tablet to get it working again.

It's beena slow process. All the ROMs I have tried don't really do well. Wifi not working, that kind of thing. I was waiting to see if more roms came out to try. I'll be checking again in the next few days.

First off, an eternally grateful thanks to @shabbypenguin for compiling what seems to be the missing link to flashing a custom recovery. Please direct all thanks to him. Check out his profile for a donation link!
Disclaimer:

I just inherited one of these suckers and would love to see upgraded past Jelly Bean. What ROMS did you have success flashing? I'm not seeing much out there about flashing this device besides what is linked to this post, and no specifics were ever mentioned, just that it might be possible with some serious bugs. Can you point me in the right direction?
