Has any one tired the new Swype? It has dragon speech on it. It is 100 times better then google voice search. Is there any way to pull that out of Swype and make default voice recognition? Thanks

It's very accurate, but you need data active to use it. I wonder why that is?

Edit: Confirmed working....
Use root explorer/sufbs or whatever it is you use to look at SD Card. Go to system/app and delete voicesearch.apk, also uninstall google search, reboot phone, go to market and redownload voice search and google search, violah!

Does anybody know of an app that allows a voice recording to be added to a calendar? I want to make a recording and have it play on the day. That way I can make a quick note to remind me to do something on that day.
Thanks!!

Doh! Never mind, I just found the mike on the calendar keyboard. Lol!!

Anyone know how to access the app manually and NOT just in the messaging portion? Its the exact same app on my Epic 4G so it should be a stand alone app....

It's probably hidden by the launcher. Try searching for it in the Google seach widget, or use a differennt Launcher.
Download launcherpro form the market, hit home, use the sidekick launcher as default, then while on the homescreen, hit Menu>add>shortcuts>activities>Voice recorder or Sound Recorder( I think both are included, but you are looking for sound recorder).

Try going to settings/manage applications/chompsms/and scroll down and find the clear defaults button. If you ever need to reset a button assignment, this is how you do it.
Thank you

it's somewhat per app... if the text block has the mic icon you don't need one on the keyboard so it doesn't show on the keyboard in some apps, especially if the app has a search function. and you can always use the hot words if you have it set to a compatible language...

well for example, it wont show up in hangouts, which is the only time i used this function (to text)
Yeah, this is important, I use it quite a bit to text. Swiftkey has it as a long press but I like the standard keyboard better so I'd prefer to use that.
You also need to enable voice typing, in addition to the mic.

Things that make me go "derp", thank you!
Also, I'm not sure if this is a requirement, but I did not see changes in my keyboard after changing those settings until after I performed a reboot. YMMV.
