[Q] Supercharger V6 in CM 7.2.0 - Motorola Milestone Android Development

I recently tried running supercharger in my phone..
i read some good comments about it..
i tried to install it as instructed on the tread of sir zeppelinrox..
how ever i got into trouble when intalling the busybox.. i cant uninstall the pre-loaded version of CM7.2.0 and replace it with 1.18.2..
is there any work around with this??
any help wouldbe greatly appreciated

No need to replace busybox.

m encountering an error whenever m running supercharger.. it says syntax error...
what ur work around with this dude?

None, didn't have this problem. Have you tried beta versions of that script? Something like supercharger_blah...U9-RC8.2.sh.pdf (you strip of .pdf before use). You'll have to browse through his posts/threads I do not have it bookmarked.
Btw., I've tried downgrading busybox on cm7 once and it broke the system. So i would not recomend you that.

First time I tried to run the script a long time ago I updated busybox and hell broke loose. I had to nandroid to get the phone operational again.
All the busyboxes that are included in CM for milestone are ok and don't mess with them, they run the excellent script by zeppelinrox perfectly.

You can use "mini mod open recovery" to install supercharger.

sir.. i also notice the bulletproof home?? what's the function on that?

It's written on the post. Do not download, right click link and save.
Notepad is not good for shell scripts. Line endings are different on windows and Linux.

I'm having my own problem with Supercharger.
I'm using CM 7.1.5 and SuperCharger v6u8 (other other versions are now doing the same). It was working previously, but something must have happened and I'm not in the mood to flash my phone from scratch all over again (which brings me to another question - but I'll start a new thread for that).
Currently, whatever I choose on SuperCharger, it's giving me "sed: write error" and I've tried restoring (UnSuperCharging), but the error persist during that process as well. I don't know what's causing this, it's as if it can't write to the location or something, so I don't know what to do now. Help?
On a side note: does SuperCharger's settings persist on CM7 after a boot.

Never wipe again after an upgrade!

It seems that quite often after an upgrade (especially when using Apps2SD), Android rebuilds the /data/system/packages.xml file because it thinks you have reinstalled all of your apps. This results in missing apps, force closes, etc, because UIDs have changed and they don't match whats in your /data/data directory. It's almost always fixed by a wipe, but screw that
Download this file: http://n0rp.chemlab.org/android/fix_permissions.sh
Push it to your sdcard, su, and run "sh /sdcard/fix_permissions.sh" and reboot. You should be good to go with NO WIPE!
Credit goes to this guy, I simply ported it to shell code: http://blog.elsdoerfer.name/2009/05/25/android-fix-package-uid-mismatches/
UPDATED: Now works with protected apps.

Well, there are some other factors, like app data that is stored in the same place but in a different format. You'd likely run into this going back and forth from an HTC based build like Hero or Sapphire and an Android based build like mine, Dude's, or JF's. I can't fix that situation, YMMV.
Except for that special case, this should do the trick.
I hope I don't sound like a complete idiot. Do you do this before or after the update and will this work with any update (like moving from ION to Rogers?

@Cyanogen: YOU **ARE** THE MAN! Woot!
Now I'm not so hesitant to test out new roms! Thanks cyan

damn your good..
Thank you very much
Out of curiousity, is it even possible to implement this into ROM Builds? it would seem simple enough. however I haven't built my own ROM so I'm going off of what I know from programming. ask the guy who created it if you can use his work. lol you're the man, as always.
ok i may of did something wrong but i couldnt get it to work. i used the terminal emulator on the phone and typed the command and it says
mount: permission denied (are you root?)
it continued to do the script but said not permitted for each app.
i definately have root as i just installed your latest rom so what am i doing wrong?
Did you SU first?

Yeah, it should be possible. The script is a little slow, though, so it would need a way of detecting an upgrade in the first place, and it would have to run after all the apks are processed.

so may I ask... if I wanna go from Haykuro's Hero to JAC's 1.4... all I would have to do is... flash the new ROM and then run your script and I'm done?
That is the idea, yes.
Ran script and flashed from dude's to your build without wipe. I'm getting force closes on

Edit nevermind I'm a retard. Figured it out.

You ran the script first, before the flash? I believe the script is to be run after the flash. Try that and see what happens.

Sprint Stock Rom with A2SD Support

This is the latest Sprint Rom based on the latest RUU leak with A2SD support (I used Darktremor A2SD 2.7 since it was easy to add it).
I have verified that A2SD is working as I downloaded and installed a couple of programs from the market. The programs are being stored in /system/sd/app.
Here's the link: http://www.darktremor.info/files/2.1/2.1-ruu-a2sd-signed.ziphttp://www.darktremor.info/files/2.1/sprintstock-21-a2sd-b-signed.zip
This one now has adb rooted (thanks to nfinitefx45 for his assistance) and does flash (heard complaints on the symlink issue...never sure what causes that, but ended up starting over and porting the files from the previous build).
This is for those people who want to keep with the stock installation but want the addition of A2SD. If you want a customized look, faster performance and A2SD support, I suggest a custom rom. Fresh 2.1.2 or FreshToast is a good one to use.
Note: It will not affect recovery.
Enjoy and I'll answer any questions you may have (if I can answer them).
did you manually edit the init.rc? and you should mention that this is a ROM, not an RUU

This is definitely an RUU as when I go into adb shell, I get the dollar sign as a prompt rather than the pound sign...I'm pretty certain it is not rooted.

Don't look at me...that's what I'm getting. Doesn't make much sense to me, either. I just know if I do adb shell, I don't have root access. But A2SD works fine.
I went ahead and released it since the goal was to get A2SD working...and I did that. Everything else is for a Rom developer.

well just loving this rom, but one question, can we get a updated boot.img with the adb enabled for access as root?
Now that the A2SD stuff is behind me, I'll take a look at that. Flipzmode or Toastcfh may be able to shed some light on how you get this image rooted correctly, especially Flipz since he's using the latest leak for Fresh 2.1.1.
The original goal was to get A2SD working on a stock rom, which I did....but it is rather annoying that it isn't rooted (or fully rooted).
Damage said in his point that it was rooted, but I got the same thing you did...no root when doing adb.
I'll talk to Flipz or Toast and see if they can point me in a direction to go.

well this is a piece from some of the reading I've been doing I beleice this needs to be done with in the boot image. I dont know if this will help in your research,
-------------------------
You also need to modify the ROM update script to change the default permissions for /system/bin/su so it can be used to elevate privileges to root. The script is in $WKD/dst/META-INF/com/google/android/update-script. Open it in your favorite editor and find the line starting with set_perm 0 2000 0550 SYSTEM:etc/init.goldfish.sh and after it add the following set_perm 0 0 04755 SYSTEM:bin/su
=======================
Hi tkirton,
Nice job on this and thanks for all your hard work on everything! I am also wondering what dedoxed means? Is it like where application data is also stored on the SD card instead of on the phone itself?
Thanks!

[MOD][Update: 12-Aug-2011]Rooted CG from CH Leak

Thanks to dangpzanco for the GREAT IDEA.
I finally got my Rooted GB working here. I can't provide a download link now but I'm going to do it later for sure.
Apparently there was a final signature check that was done somewhere after mounting the cache partition, preventing me from booting with a pure update.zip on top of froyo /system. Thanks to dangpzanco I could bypass it and get root.
Quick Guide (requires froyo, root and Droid2bootstrapper):
1. Download fixed SBF bellow. It's made from the CH leak containing ONLY: CG35.smg (boot) CG47.smg (recovery) CG61.smg (devtree) firmware.hmg (header) RAMDLD.smg (flash updater).
2. Download root_and_recovery.zip and copy it to SD Card.
3. Download full leaked SBF from General Forum (CH, signed) and use MotoAndroidDepacker to extract all images.
4. Copy the CG39.smg to /sdcard/
5. Boot into CWM
6. From CWM open adb shell and use this command: dd if=/sdcard/cg39.sm of=/dev/block/system
7. Still on CWM apply root_and_recovery.zip
8. Still on CWM wiped everything
9. Boot on bootloader and flash fixed SBF
10. Reboot
I actually did the same thing! I read it somewhere in one of the topics. I installed Defy BootMenu instead of CWM. Works great! Right now I've almost removed all the Chinese crap and got the GApps working (from CM7).
I also removed the Blur items for the Chinese SN's. I'll see if I can get Twitter and Facebook working with it.
2nd-init would be nice too actually. Does the method provided in the other thread work with this ROM?
Edit: the instructions were indeed from dangpzanco!
And right now I found a possible bug. My camera doesn't work. Everything is black and stays black. Photo's are take as they should however.
Can you check whether you have the same issue?

Here it works fine. Have you tried to edit /system/build.prop?
Change device from ME722 to A953.
Yes, I changed it to A953...
Maybe I have deleted something that was necessary for the viewfinder... But what xD
Edit: Allright, nevermind. Somehow a reboot fixed it :-D On to the next step
Something bad happened when I tried to apply 2nd-init on this. The phone rebooted just after 2nd M logo not allowing me to get into CWM. Wierd, since CWM should take place before 2nd-init. Will need to raflash froyo and start over. We should find a way to root Gingerbread without CWM to make things faster.
That's odd indeed. I have to say, I think the CWM method of rooting is actually quite easy. For SuperOneClick I need to get my PC/laptop out every time and with the update.zip I can do it as I please.
I really hope you'll succeed wit 2nd-init. If you need help, just shout! Today and tomorrow I have enough time.
I'll make a nandroid of my current setup, so I can continue trying out stuff.

Yeps, it is easy indeed, but to do it I need to SBF froyo before installing GB again. In other words if I mess up the phone I will need to flash 2 versions instead of one. That's why it would be easier to flash just GB.
Hey there, nice I could help.
I think you could copy the /dev/block/system back after rooting and build the SBF with it.

you can try also this defy leaked gb rooted nandroid backup.

version 4.5.1-134 multilanguage.
use fixedsbf from new leaked milestone2 rom and milestone2patch from MS2Ginger thread.
In this rom /system/app/kpilogger.apk cause battery drain so delete it after install.
Something is seriously wrong... My backlight never shuts down. It's black, but when it's dark you'll see it's still on!
I actually can't change the brightness from settings. So I did a complete reinstall and the problem persists!
I'm using brightcontrol app now to adjust the brightness, but does anyone else has this issue? Or is it something I did?

And how do I do that?
I tried some ways till this point:
- Installed CodeSourcery G++ Lite toolchain (could compile, but android didn't run)
- Installed NDK and tried some commands I could find on blog posts (no luck)
- Now I just finished setting up an ubuntu 10 VM with all the steps described on developer.android.com. I think I am now able to compile android system, but I don't want to as it will take a LOOONG time.
Do you know how do I build a specific module into android source? For example:
system/core/toolbox
I'm a developer, and have compiled stuff to run on linux/unix many times. But this ARM stuff is way complicated. Writing the code isn't the problem, but compiling is. Lots of flags I haven't seem before, and so on.

I just uncovered this answer by myself.
A 'make toolbox' on root folder seems to work just fine. Now I need a way to define new targets on android build system.
http://and-developers.com/
Has a page just for compiling the kernel from source. (I can't remember the link)
I also got stuck when trying to compile from AOSP... but I think you need to have ALL the files downloaded from source (specially the big prebuilt folder) even if you want to compile a single binary.
Well I'm not sure of anything...
Edit:Now I read what you wrote... so never mind you got it.

[Q] Questions on Bryan's CM7 build

I didn't want to clutter up the dev thread with these questions, but I've never used any CM build on any phone.
I unzipped Bryan's CM7 build to see what was inside and noticed it didn't seem to have a launcher and didn't seem to have any market app. Ok so does that mean you have to pre install Google apps from the SDcard to be able to access the market?
In reading the instructions, it seems like Bryan's CM7 build uses the same kernel as his regular beta kernel thread but that can't be right, can it, with the discussion on the thread....
I noticed that the Google apps were all modified for CM7, so does that mean that ordinary apps won't work unless they're modified?
Can I still use the TW4 launcher on CM7? Used to it.
The business about USB storage not working in Android. I assume that means you can't put anything on the SDcard using the USB cable after Android has booted up so that you have to push everything on there with ADB, is that it, in recovery mode?
1. It does contain a launcher; Its called ADW Launcher.
2. Yes, you would need to flash the google apps. I use this one
http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip
and this one http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-gb-20110828-newtalk-signed.zip
3. You flash the gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip file then the gapps-gb-20110828-newtalk-signed.zip google talk with video chat support.
4. Its a different kernel. CM7 is using the MTD version. While regular stock roms use BML.
5. I believe you can use the google apps on those files on any rom. But most roms already bring them integrated.
6. Apps developed for use on the Galaxy S phones like TWLauncher et al will not work as they hook onto some samsung specific programming.
7. As mentioned in 6, you cannot use TWLauncher on cm7.
8. Yes you would have to push everything through ADB in the meantime. Pushing/puling through adb does not require rebooting to recovery though.
Can someone make a video on how to install the rom?
Just follow the written instructions on the thread and you'll be fine

After that,

My suggestion is to wait until the install procedure is easier.
In the CM7 OP, Bryan said (twice) to re-read OP after updates.
Making a video will give you proper instructions for this build, but if Bryan updates the install procedure users following the video are going to have a mixed bag of results, and possible bricks.

I have a question as well. Yes, I know that this isnt exactly high priority, but I'm wondering if later there will be a build with Wifi calling. I was trying to install it myself, but it kept force closing, and I don't wanna try anything that'll mess up my phone any worse than I have before.
Wifi calling is basically a must for me since I basically live in Smallville, KS. I get little to no service here, and without it, it usually takes forever to get anything. And yes, I've tried every modem I could, KG4 works best, since I can sometimes get one bar.
I'm trying to complain or anything, and I thank Team Acid for bringing us CM7.
Neo I'm sure at one point bryan will get that working.

I have a question with the process flash boot.img with heimdall...when i open heimdall front end and put boot.img into the flash local package..i get a error the tar header contained an invalid file size..on the flash tab, it only takes pit files..also when i just use the heimdall ..a black screen happens similar like a command prompt and just exits..
how do i flash the boot.img with heimdall?
This is using fbs instructions that I am using and i am stuck on step 7. flash the latest boot.img from bryans op..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25197350&postcount=279
Are you on windows? If so open command promt. Cd into the heimdall suite directory. Put your phone in DL mode and connect to usb. From command type "heimdall detect". Should say device detected. Then just put the boot.img in the same directory and follow the OP.

That's just Samsung-specific stuff like TouchWiz that require Samsung's modified frameworks and extra libraries.
Just use FB's install guide instead. I was going to wait until it was installable through CWM, but this is essentially the same thing with a few extra steps.

[How To][Video Tut] Install/Run V6 Supercharger + Patching Services.jar [1/6/2013]

Hi Geeks
Somehow many people wont understand how to insatll V6 Supercharger on their Devices
So Came up A Video tutorial, expecting it would help in some way
Original Thread - [V6BlackDog]Hey Hey Launcher, sed The Way U mv, Gonna make U Fast, Gonna make U $mooth!
Thank the OP,-=zeppelinrox=- at post #11 or Here
Rules:
1.Dont call yourself a Noob and do nothing, this is just an excuse! (Words of the OP )
2.Just because you got the OP link dont ask redundant questions there, read read and if you dont get,you may ask
providing proper required files, ill tell ya! Hold on
3.If you notice i got some things wrong, well please help me if you find something
I make it for Beginners so the simple language
4.If you dont like/Undersand it,unsupercharge and move on,SIMPLE!
5.Hacking Services.jar at Post#2
Notes:
1.This Script will work on ANY Rooted Android Device,so please dont ask if it will work on my 'Bla bla bla'
2.I get all this right from the original thread after reading...

A Few Explainations
*You may skip these (Coz the script tells you everything,a bit more precisely)
Yet for Beginners,lets read...
1.OOM groupings and priority fixes
v6 actually groups your apps according to the priorities they are used.Like the home Launcher should always
have the highest priority, followed by the soft keyboard and so on...(Sometimes your launcher gets killled
after playing a heavy game,so thats what wont happen after setting actual priorities)
2.Low memory killer values
Linux or android defines certain values the the system Ram should should always keep free for better
functioning of your device
This script will let you set the values, say high(For gamers) or low(MultiTasking) according to your requirement
and Tests/experience
256hp,512 hp,786+(In the script) are all LMK option values you can choose from
There's also a MKF calculator that calculates OPTIMUM minfree valuse based on your device RAM
3.Detailing
This will optimize all sqlite3 databases found on your device.
Resulting in faster database access and less ram usage for smoother performance.
4.Engine Flush-O-Matic
As you use your device, your cache keeps growing and your device becomes slow
In linux RAM never remains FREE,the free ram is always used to store device cache
Flush-o-matic Cleans this cache+Useless RAM usage and allows you to have a device, again with optimum RAM
You can set the time to what this script will run,so it starts automatically in the background & works for you!
5.Fixalign
This fixes permissions of all the apps and then Zipalings them(Simulatneously! The only Script of its kind! )
This basically helps optimize all the apps and less ram consumption, thus a Faster device!
6.Wheelalignment and fix emissions
These zipaling and fix permissions, but separately
7.BulletProof Apps
There are few apps which your frequently use,so this will keep those in memory (Your choice apps)
so they are quickly accessible without them having to start each time!
-=Starter Kit=-(Recommended,not compulsory)
Always use the Latest busybox (Atleast 1.16.2 and above)
contains Recommeded busybox squite3 and zipalign binary

ok. 2 questions: 1. i am following along with you in the video, but i never see you activate the starter kit? should i assume you already did this? if so, how can i activate the starter kit?
i am using i9300XXEMB6, OMEGA 43.3 XXEMC3
i already put the starter kit on my INTERNAL SD CARD, and tried to run it from recovery. two times i tried to run the starter kit, it said, "installation failed". so i guess i have not activated the starter kit yet. however, i did down load smanager, and was following you along until you chose the script, and i haven't run the starter kit.
so question 2. can i run the script along with you, or do i need to wait until i run the starter kit?

You are suppose to install the starter kit exactly the same way you ran the script!
It is not flashable in cwm
Unzip the starter kit, then throught script manager run the script when it again asks you to install
1.busybox(as i said it is not compulsory to install the starter kit)
If your busyboz is 1.16 or greater..you are fine without the kit
If you get errors (segmentation fault) while running fixaling and detailing u need the kit..or start with the scripts
^Coz We dont just Root phones for Fun
ok, so i figured out the starter kit, and tried to run my installation right along with your installation on the video. but mine kept getting faster or slower than yours, and so i would get off of where you were. sometimes my installation went much faster than yours, and while i was waiting for yours to catch up, it chose not to allow the choice i was waiting to find out about, so it was not installed. how can i go back and change those choices?
also, how can you tell if you are fully (100%) supercharged?

Hit option 30...for changing shoices
Might wanna hit thanx
^Coz We dont just Root phones for Fun
yes of course i hit thanks for you doing this video. but i don't understand where do i hit option 30?
i didn't see what the script said about my supercharge, because it went too fast a lot of the time.
---------- Post added at 03:11 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:26 PM ----------
i am only 50% because i didn't run ultimate jar patcher tool. but i don't understand how to run it. it says on the op to run through supercharger, but when i run supercharger it just says i haven't run it yet, and sends me back to xda page. i have it down loaded, and on my phone in both the external sdcard, and the 0sdcard (internal) so why isn't supercharger running it?
or how do i run it?

To run ultimatic patcher tool, you need a
1.java installed pc
2.Latest utimatic patcher tools from the download page
3.Device connect with usb debugging enabled
then 'Extract' the tools and run the .bat file
Note*-Hacking services.jar (by ultimatic jar patcher tools is for More for multitasking and not for Gamers!)
Read the comments while you run the .bat file,it will tell ya everything
for changing options,
Do as i did in the video..
Run the script
Then you see anything like driver options?
Enter (1-34)
There u enter 30..and select scrolling speed as slow...
You might wanna hit thanx
^Coz We dont just Root phones for Fun
i have run it several times. each time it says that everything is going great. but when i finish, i am still only at 50% sc. so i posted my logs on the v6 thread, as it asked me to do. but there is no comments throughout that execution that says why my launcher is not sc, only that it isn't.
I had replied but it would be good to also note here that if, while patching, the before and after ADJs are the same, nothing is changed.
So in cases of it not working, be sure to only patch a previously unmodified services.jar.

ok. so here would then be my next question. since it obviously did it successfully at some point for the first time, why didn't it supercharge my launcher at that point? then i would not have patched it again.

i have searched this entire site, and there is nothing on how to find or check adj's. also, how do i choose which services.jar to patch?
ok madaditya, time for another video!!! lol!
Well I think the only tools to check ADJs for groupings are by me
Ultimatic shows them just before applying settings.
You can grab services.jar from your roms flashable zip and put it where ultimatic tells you to.
Problems happen when a rom half asses the patch to services.jar and values are not consistent in both ProcessList.smali and ActivityManagerService.smali
Anyway, I'm working on a workaround/fix so that ultimatic uses the values in PL.smali as a last resort and instead will try and get the values from AMS.smali first.
This lessens the likelihood of it not patching due to different values in the 2 smali files.

Strange!
Get Aroma FIle manager from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1646108
1.flash it via cwm and browse to system/etc/init.d and delete all scripts there!
reboot and it should boot..
2.Try supercharging again
3.If the problem continues post the logs from data/ on to the original Supercharger thread(links in OP) thread
Note-Always make sure you use the latest scripts
Hope this helps
