Hello,
I had a problem with my Motorola Xoom WiFi.
My girlfriend was playing with my tablet and couldn't guess my login pattern.
Unfortunately sign in via Google account did not worked and WiFi network was turned off, in Airplane mode!!
So I am looking for way how to unlock it without root access>> is that possible ?
How often did she try? You should be able to wait a little while and then enter the correct pattern. There's also a way to unlock the xoom without knowing the pattern or google account, but no one on this forum is gonna help you with that ('cause we can't be sure that it really is your xoom;-) )
So just try to wait a little while until you can enter the pattern again or try to reboot, maybe the pattern will appear again after that...

It's mine and that's all )>by the way , if it wasn't mine I would hard rest it and it's done !
but for my important thing and special data .. i need to unlock it
now I'm in the past 2 days after it has been locked>> and the screen is just showing that damn "too many pattern attempts!" screen
I can control volume by it's button(and that the only thing that could change a thing in that screen), but is there any way to turn on wifi with or without button !?!?!?!
Do you have adb debugging enabled? I think you can change the wifi state in adb shell....

I'm sorry >> I didn't enable ADB before
is it a dead end!!
I really just can't do hard reset, with no way of extraction for my data (it's 20g out of32)!
So >> Is there any new idea please !
Heeeeeeelp~!
You may need to fully wipe it.. you'll lose your data. This can be done through a connected PC.
Revert to the out-of-box state (stock/locked). There are many threads on this.
Or follow instructions here (you may need to register): MotoDev
Load up MZ604 Wifi (HWI69) - and go back through setup.
Once you enter your Google account - it will download your software and reload your wifi settings, etc.. Then let it go through the various OTA updates through ICS 404.
You'll have to redo your screens - but you'll get back a working Xoom.

Hi, I have a friend who has just smashed their Desire S whilst out on Sat.
Unfortunately, as the title says, they have no screen (touch doesnt appear to work either but no real way of telling!), not root, no USB debug and I have already checked and they didnt have their contacts set to sync with their google account but with the phone! :-/
Can anyone give any suggestions other than a screen replacement? They have already got an S3 on the way today so just want to be able to restore their contacts.
Cheers and thanks in advance!
I think this is definitely possible, but it may get very complicated.
Do you have adb in recovery (you'll have to boot into fastboot and blindly navigate to the recovery option)? Is the bootloader unlocked?

Thanks for replying Aquous!
I have just been given the phone today from a friend to try and help them out so im not sure on either? Do you have a desire s and would be able to tell me the button sequence to get into recovery to find out? As for the bootloader being unlocked, i very much doubt it as the phone was running a stock orange rom.
Any ideas?
Cheers,
It is unlikely indeed that you will be able to recover the data as the phone is. If you're in the UK (possible as the phone is on Orange) and fancy posting it then I can stick my LCD and touch panel on it for you so I can recover the data.
Also if u r in the uk, try a phone repair shop that has jtag, they should be able to pull any data off the phone.

Then you probably don't have adb in recovery either.
We can try the easy way first: from the Google Play website (on your computer), download TalkBack to your phone and see if you can launch it blind. From there on, your phone will read to you what's on the screen
If you can't manage to do that, I have another option in mind but it's complicated and you may not be able to recover your contacts:
Unlock the bootloader via htcdev. This will wipe your data, but if you don't allow the rom to boot after the unlocking, this is OK.
Immediately after issuing the fastboot oem unlock command, HOLD DOWN THAT VOLUME - BUTTON. If the ROM is allowed to load, your data will be significantly harder, if not impossible, to recover.
If you held Vol - correctly after the unlock, you'll be in fastboot (if the phone vibrated, quickly pull the battery before the rom starts writing to the data partition).
From fastboot, boot a custom recovery ('fastboot boot recovery.img')
In this custom recovery, you have adb. Pull the data partition and run file recovery software to try to reconstruct the data that was on it but was wiped by the unlock process.
Purposefully not giving any clearer instructions than this, because if you don't know what you're doing the chances are very high that you're going to do it wrong and won't be able to recover the data.

Yup, everything i needed off it worked.
I left it for a while as a last resort because of the risk of total data loss and bought a replacement screen which was DOA!
So you plan came into play and it really worked. It wasnt so hard as the steps you gave just helped me get the order right in my head rather than trying something and mucking it up even more!
Thanks again good sir! She was very pleased!
One of my friends phone Sony Xperia C1594 is locked up as she does not remember the unlock pattern.
It was asking for mothers maiden name and she does not remember if she has put it or not. She has tried to login to google account and setting the recovery options but the recovery options are not available in google !
So it looks like option is to hard reset the phone. Searched everywhere could not find the right key combination to do it. Can anyone help me? This is not a rooted phone.
Hey buddy...
You cannot reset Sony like that..
But practically, there is a way to bypass it
Just repair your phone via pc companion
It will install a fresh copy of software in it and naturally, the lock would be gone..
Thank me if I helped you...
if its rooted, srs root program has an option to reset userlock
that's too technical. if you want to reset it, pull out the battery then turn it on. go to setting-memory. you'll see and option to reset the factory setting there. you can also try to change google's security question. you can't find recovery setting on google but you'll surely could change the security question there.

Since the phone is in locked stage(at pattern login page) you cant access the settings. Only the above method works.

would unlocking the bootloader ( which wipes the device) do it ?
Did you try contacting Motorola?
I read that the stock recovery is messed up. If you want to factory reset then chose the option above, ie the text you see in the menu does not align with the actual option that will be chosen.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2543869
thanks for reply guys,
I dont want to unlock the bootloader as it voids the warranty.
I contacted Motorola, but no reply.
Is there any other way to factory reset this device?
BTW Happy New Year to all
Did you read my post just above yours? You use the stock recovery, just highlight the option ABOVE the option you actually want within the recovery.
cheers mate!

GO on google android/devicemanager
with u gmail account
click lock enter new password (must be letter and number) your phone lock again but now ask for password you provided to account
done.
Do you need Android Device Manager on the phone itself to work?
Ok, so this is my first ever forum post and I have resorted to this after hours of searching for a fix.
So let's get straight to the point. After changing my drag password thingy, I forgot it. Numerous attempts later to unlock the password, I found myself on this 'Sign in with your google account' screen of doom.
My phone runs 4.0 ice-cream sandwich.
My problems are:
WiFi is disabled
USB-Debugging is disabled
Things I've already tried:
Factory reset on bootloader - the HTC screen just pops up then it freezes on it.
Recovery on bootloader - the HTC screen just pops up then it freezes on it.
Calling the phone with another phone and trying to drag the notification bar down/ button mashing - nothing happens.
Using ADB to unlock it - I can't because USB-Debugging is disabled.
Various fixes that use WiFi - WiFi is disabled.
Please, please, please help me! My phone has been locked like this for a month now. I've only had the phone for 6 months and I use(d) it very regularly. I will appreciate all the help I can get. Thanks!!

Firstly - this is a QUESTION and should be in the Q&A forum
Secondly - you know that as you have already asked the question in the Q&A forum and someone attempted to help you, so why would you want to open a new thread?

If your boot loader is unlocked you can install 4xt recovery and install another ROM.
Factory reset doesn't help - that's strange but I have never tested it before
Hey everyone,
my girlfriend called me 2 mins ago, saying she got problems with her OPO. She said her phone wasnt responding so she hold the power button long for hard poweroff. Then when the phone restarted she came to that point where you have to enter your SIM Pin but wasnt able to enter numbers on the left side of the display, numbers in the middle or the right would work. She said she then recognized that the display was "slightly broken" on the left (so i think no spyder app by now ). I dont know how much everything is messed up until i see the phone this evening.
Well, that was the story, now my questions. If im not able to enter the correct pin, is there still any way to backup her data of the phone? Maybe through recovery? On my OPO i got TWRP but hers still stock. Any other ideas?
Would be really thankfull for any hint!!!!
edit: In fact i dont know if PIN blocks data access just assumed it

It doesn't in recovery since the function happens before the OS is loaded.
Install TWRP, or do a back up through stock recovery ( no idea if that function exists though in stock ), then factory reset in recovery, it will erase everything but give you access to the phone again....The backup will copy your protection settings , so that won't really help you if you re-apply it....
Maybe someone as a better idea, just going with what i know. Read once that you could connect a mouse to the phone, maybe that could help, you will have to dig around here to find info on that though, i have no idea where it is.
thx for your answer but if im not wrong its not possible to install twrp without wiping all the data because at the moment the bootloader is locked.

OK so like i said try to find info on the mouse thing, or full factory reset through stock recovery, it will give you access back to the phone by whipping everything.... I don't see any other choices.
well as i wanted to save everything wiping wasnt an option
(for what would i need access to the phone other then gaining the data?!)
but the tip with the mouse was perfect and simple as fcuk just connected the mouse with an OTG adapter to the phone and was able to unlock screenlock and remove it, then copy all data to PC.
Now the OPO is ready to get repaired
thx!
