[Q] Phone lags so much, so that I can't answer incoming calls - General Questions and Answers

I've been using a rooted X10 since Wolf's V6 release (for 8 months I guess). I've unlocked my phone's bootloader.
I' ve tried Fera's 4 releases.
I have been using doom's v6 kernel.
About two months ago, phone started to lag MOSTLY WHEN data connection is on, or trying to make phone calls from phone book, or trying to answer incoming calls so that there have been times on which I couldn't answer them at all. BUT rom continued to run normal and smoothly on other conditions (when data connection is off for example) When I try playing any games, they run way too much laggy, even the games I know I played very smoothly before.
I decided to try another rom so I gave Dxperia a shot. The problem kept remaining. I changed kernel to Thkernel. Level of problem decreased but didn't vanish. Whenever I install a new rom, phone runs perfect but after a couple of days the problem rises again. I don't use too much apps. The most extreme condition for my phone is an incoming call when I listen to music with it and have a scrobbler app running in background. :/ pff. that's really depressing.
I don't know whether are they related to each other or not but, I noticed that this problem started after I unlocked my phone's bootloader. I always flash roms after I make a factory wipe.
I have been searching forums for other Roms and kernels but don't believe anything will change, because I already use most stable and popular ones.
Does this problem means that I have to turn to stock rom with PC Companion?
If I have to do so, after PC Companion turns my phone to factory image, will my phone will be in warranty conditions again (locked bootloader and unrooted) ?
What can be causing this problem?
I found another user in forums(an Italian guy if I'm correct) having this problem but after Fera gave him an advice about flashing Thkernel, he stopped informing about the problem. Any other users having the same problem?
Any help?

Its not due to unlocked boot loader...I think its problem with kernal..or limited ram and phone memory..
if you want to go back to the stock rom you can do it easily with pc companinion doesn't matter is rooted or boot loader unlocked.connect your phone in flash mode and reinstall your stock rom with sony update software...
Or you can try once this
Do a full wipe
Wipe data
wipe data cache
Goto advanced> wipe dalvic cache
Wipe battery status
And instal your rom and kernal once again....
Install cpu tuner or set cpu
Goto settings overclock during phone call..there is a option for that....all the best
Hit thanks if it helps....

[Q] Black Screen Crash and Erors causes Frustration

Hi guys,
I am little bit tired of using many ROMs on my smart phone. It's been a long time that I started flashing it. I have tried all of the updated roms but recently I am having a kind of stressful trouble with my phone. Whatever is the rom doesnt matter after few hours phone crashes on black screen and doesnr response, after replacing the battery or long time pressing power button it restarts and seems ok but after few minutes or hours it does it again. this trouble has become a regular issue.
the second thing is phone says your internal sd card is umounted unexpectedly and the series of errors begin. all of the errors are blocking to reach the settings and even cant see which applications are runing.
I have suspicions on a virus or kind of spyware has inoculated to my phone or it's kernel file system (but after flashing it should be gone right? must not continue in new flashed rom)
this problem occur after even after the new rom is installed (i use odin 1.83 for flashing and i dont do any rooting/deodexing)
if you can help me on this I would be glad.
Better post on QandA thread.. What you are experiencing is SOD which is common in KP7 and in OC'd kernel of SGSL.. Did you flash and overclocked kernel? If so then that's the cause of SOD..

actually I am using XXKB3 rom but at this time I am trying to understand what is the cause of this problem, I red some discussions on HTC desire likely same problem called "aka black death" so they argue about the same problem but no solution and no exact reason is mentioned.
My phone is not rooted, not deodexed, any cpu overclock application is not installed, it's just flashed with XXKB3.
by the way same situation is valid in each rom without rooting, deodexing and cpu overclocking.
that's why I am confused
since you have tried "many ROMs", surely you at least have CWM, and made a full backup of your stock kb3 ROM before testing others, so you could easily go back to one that you know works, right?
if not, you at least ensured to do factory reset, wipe partition, and clear dalvik cache each time you installed a new ROM, right?
if not, then the reason you're having problems is because there's old stuff fighting on your phone, and you need to follow those steps properly next time
actually I did that things each time I installed those roms, except clearing dalvik cache via titanium backup, cause this thing needs root permission.
this time according to your advise I'll root my phone and write back about what happens. soon

Uh? You would not have CWM without root? If you have CWM, you obvi. should have root?
I even didnt update CWM after loading new ROMs. (while I am living that troubles)
unfortunately
no development on black screen crash and still unmounts the internal sd card unexpectedly so problem goes on and still I am on investigation.
clearing dalvik cache and rooting and playing with cpu clock speed also doesnt effect this thing.
I need to report this that after phone sleeps when somebody calls me it's not responsing no melody, no signal on screen, even no light or awakening
but it rings at caller's phone.
looking for HELP

I am sure you have flashed the BOOTLOADER, PHONE and CSC of KP9 or KP7. Else, you would not have faced this problem. A factory reset and a CLEAN GB flash would do the solution!

"playing with cpu speed", as far as I know, means you installed a non-stock kernel, which may be known to cause SOD, among other things. trying to do stuff while in that case can cause other errors to occur as well. if that's the case, try flashing back to the stock kernel in the same thread you got the overclocked kernel rom, and if not, remove whatever app you installed that's allowing you to adjust your cpu speed and see if it helps
P.S., it's becoming obvious you've done more with your phone than you're revealing, which isn't helping us troubleshoot your problems:

is what you originally said, but as far as I know, you can't adjust cpu speed in the kernel provided, unless it's an overclocked kernel. providing inaccurate information makes it harder to get the proper answers.
try listing all the things you've done, send screenshots of your phone's "about phone" screen, showing kernel, build, etc.
Srry to break it to ya mate... But since your internal SD seems to be unmounting and your phone seems to be SOD-ing, you need to reflash to stock and send it to the service center for repair.
This isn't a support forum, although we are willing to help to the best of our knowledge. Hope you get this sorted out mate!

Let me share the latest info...
after trying to use my phone without external sd card, black screen problem has gone, phone is waking after pushing power button,
but this unmounting internal sd card unexpectedly and application errors still continues. After unmounting it mounts sd card back (by itself) and scans, but then I can not start any of the settings or system applications cause it gives errors and closes. if I insist to open a system application it phone is freezing and not responding. and then I have to reset it to turn normal. and unmounting problem goes for a short time...
if there will be no solution as Erahgon said I will take it to the warranty service installed with a stock rom.
for now I am still using the
Baseband: I9003XXKB1
stock rom: FROYO.XWKB1
Kernel Ver. : 2.6.32.9 [email protected]#1
didnt root it,
didnt deodexed,
didnt cleared dalvik cache,
sod's happn wid me too ..!
while downloading gamedata thru gameloft the sods occur ..
the solution :
download screen off frm the market ..
its the only solution fr the sods !

Problems after getting back to stock ROM from CM7

Hi,
I'va had CM7 a10 flashed on my Sensation for a few days. A couple of days ago I've decided to get back to Stock ROM, and then the problems started. Before installing CM7 everything was fine. After restoring my backup from before flashing CM7 weird things started to happen (apps dissapearing, settings changing on their own, hangs, and other stuff). So I've done a SuperWipe a few times, and flashed a completely new Stock ROM via USB using: RUU_Pyramid_HTC_Europe_1.50.401.1_Radio_10.56.9035.00U_10.14.9035.01_M_release_223042_signed file. Then I've done a few factory resets, just in case. But still weird things are happening (eg. now I have a clean phone - once again - and trying to setup the sync options and the options app hangs everytime. and installing something from market is like praying for a miracle). I've tried doing factory reset, clear cache/dalvik (but with dalvik CWM recovery says that the partition or files wasn't found). Don't know what to do. Does anyone have any ideas ?? Please help. Phone worked fine before, and after CM7 everything is f*cked up
Wierd, looks like you've tried everything I could think of while reading the post.
Do you still have a nandroid backup of CM7, if so does that work if you restore ?
Can you use ADB to get to the phone ? If so you could check some things from there.
When you installed the RUU from the PC, did it install without errors ? Presumably you had to re-install CWM after that.
CM7 nand backup works fine after restore.
I can use ADB to comunicate with the phone.
No errors while updating RUU.exe / CWM recovery flashed without problems also after that.
I think that there's something screwed up with the file permissions.
I've downloaded and installed about 20 apps since the last HR, and now I have about 40 apps more queued in Market, and as before the downloads are stuck every 1-2 apps. Then I have to restart to CWM recovery and run fix permissions. After that another 1-2 apps will download and get stuck again, and so on...
Anyone has any ideas what the hell is going on ? Because my I'm getting more then irritated by this, and beggining to think that the best solution will be to send my phone flying through the window.
A few questions first.
What country are you in?
Who is your carrier?
What version did your phone originally come with? I believe 1.5xxxxx RUU was released recently, but I could be wrong.
Did you ever change your CID?
Have you ever flashed a new radio and RIL?
Did you copy all of the data from your SD card to your computer, then format your SD card using the phone?
Answer these questions and try the SD card thing, then report back. I may be able to help.
Poland.
T-Mobile (Sensation) / Play Mobile (Gio)
Don't remeber what version my Sensation originally came with - I have a 1.50.401.1 RUU that I'm flashing with currently.
Yes, I've changed CID to 11111111 some time ago, but I'm back to original HTC__001 now.
No I haven't changed my radio or RIL.
I've tried formatting the SD card using the phone, my laptop, my linux NAS, my other phones.
The weird thing is that yesterday all of this was progressing. It came to a point that after a factory reset or even a whole ROM reflash nothing would install (not even Market update). And this also started to happen on my Samsung Gio. So after very very very frustrating evening, and part of the night I gave up. And in the morning it was still the same (on both my android phones). But now things are starting to work (updates/installs). So I think I'm going to blame the whole thing on Google and Market. I'll see what happens while I'll install all my apps in the next few hours.
Still have to restart the phone every 1-3 apps installed. This is driving me crazy

[Q] Device reboots after rom other than stock placed on phone

Hi,
I tried searching for an answer to this but couldn't find one so I'd thought I'd post it here. Whenever I flash a rom other then stock (like cm10 or paranoidandroid) the phone will go about a day or two then randomly reboot at many times during the day. It doesn't seem to be a full reboot but more of a hot boot. The bootloader is unlocked and I always wipe the device (including dalvik) before flashing a rom. If I manually reboot it will stop doing it on it's own but only last a day or two then begin again.
Any ideas? It's getting really frustrating especially when in a call or using an app for this to happen. Thanks!

What kernel are you using? Do you have your processor overclocked/Underclocked? Is it undervolted at all?
Sent from my Secret Base in Outer Space
I'm just using the basic kernel which came with paranoidandroid (or cm10 when trying that) and I do use SetCPU for the performance governor. Not overclocking per se.

[Q] i9003 - lot of issues after upgrading to 2.3.6

After upgarding my android to 2.3.6(DDLF2) my phone frequently hangs i.e no response on the touch. this happens atleast once a week.
Some times people say my phone is switched off when it is on. Also phone doesnt ring when someone calls and phone doesnt show any missed calls as well.
I tried searching for a stable rom, but many people say this is the stable one. Did anyone faced similar issues? Doing a factory reset, would it help? i upgraded via kies from earlier release. This phone already had restart issues and i replaced the mother board when it was on warranty.
Any other stable rom suggestion is also welcome.
Yes as said by others this is the stable stock rom with good battery life and extra features..
The only problem is the touchwiz launcher which makes the phone laggy.
So install some other launcher from market and check the difference.
But I am not sure of the other issues that you faced like phone not ringing and the missed call notification.
Sent from my GT-I9003 using xda app-developers app
I would try flashing clockwork mod, going into recovery mode and doing a factory reset /wipe data /wipe cache. (Move your stuff to your external sd before doing this).
If problem persists, then go for reflashing the latest rom.

laggy nexus5

Hello all nexus5 users, recently im having huge problems with my nexus5. I was switching from ROm to another but seems problems persist.
- Phone become VERY VERY laggy like unusable laggy (no touch response it seems like freez but its not) and best solution is reboot. It happen to me after one day after installing new ROM after reboot everything is fine but then problem come back soon or later.
- my alarm clock is not wake me up at morning when i wake phone i see launcher reload and alarm clock is like killed (doze?) i did try some tricks like not battery optimize atc.
- accesssibility i have tasker, nova launcher ..aps that need accessibility enabled but they constantly disabling itself after some time with no reason
im dont flashing anything more then ROM+gapps, i have only few apps installed like 30 or so nothing crazy.
im using multirom,ROM i have tried for example Purenexus,Chroma,Dirty Unicorns,Candy...
did anyone experiencing this too? any solution? ill try some more stock ROMs now or complete unroot and flash factory image.
thanks
Have you tried wipe data and cache? You may have to flash back to a stock rom to see if the the problem persists. If the problem is present on a stock rom, it could be a hardware problem.
Get rid of multirom, wipe everything but internal storage (advance wipe in twrp) and install ROM of choice.
If problem still exits, try flashing stock ROM from scratch, wipe everything, backup first.
If that fails, perhaps hardware problems
Backup sd();
Flash stock();
If (problem solved==true)
{try to flash your favorite custom rom;}
else()
{service;}
Personally, I tried CM for the first time on mi virgin N5 and it was [email protected], no offense to anyone. It's laggy, specially during apps installation. The features weren't that necessary or so many to overcome the stock rom stability and performance, so I'm back to stock now. Everything smooth.
