no signal in bhundven's cm7 - Samsung Galaxy S (4G Model)

i installed the fourth release of bhundven's cyanogenmod and now as stated rom is stable and works pretty fast only that i am not getting any signal i messed with some options in mobile networks like international roaming, national roaming, network selection type etc.. but nothing seems to be working, then i installed both kd1 and kj2 modems of sidekick which they say has very good reception even then no luck please help me fix it

Your flashing an alpha build. You have to expect things like that. For now just flash back to something else. Or better yet fix it yourself than let Bryan know about it.

in his post he mentioned that modem(ril) is working fine and can access gsm,3g,4g so i was compromised for bluetooth and gps to just give this rom a try.i dint know this is gonna happen anyway i will wait for his final update till then will use beautifulsgs4g.
thanx for the reply buddy

You flashed modem files that haven't been padded.
See my reply here:

You're going to need to reinstall the ROM. Don't try to flash another modem this time, the one that bhundven included with the ROM was specially packaged for CM7

While your phone is booted to android:
Code:
adb shell ls -l /radio/
there should be a file in there named modem.bin that is about 15M.
If that is not the case, heimdall the latest boot.img, then reinstall the update.zip from the freshly rebooted recovery.

thanks for the reply and absolutely sorry for this post
now the signal is working fine i should have checked it twice before posting
sorry again

[Q] SGS4G on GB ROM - No Call Logs!

I updated my SGS4G to GB ROM and rooted as provided on this thread :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1128412
All working fine till now EXCEPT for CALL LOGS. There are no call logs!
Here are the symptoms:
a. missed call gets registered - working normally.
b. calls made won't register - Call log empty.
c. calls received won't register - Call log empty.
Is it just me or everybody is facing the same problem?? Please and Thanks in advance!
How do I fix this issue?
P.S: Non-rooted GB ROM also showing the same symptoms, not that the rooted ROM has anything to do with it, just mentioning.
~Androcton.
Call Logs working fine with me, installed busybox and root is confirmed. Although I am having problems with the Bluetooth icon in the Notification area, everytime I click it it force closes and hides my notification bar

KF2 Update
Updated to KF2 and there seems to be a couple fixes including the bluetooth crash fix.
One issue found both in KF1 and KF2
Connect a regular headset to SGS4G phone and the inbuilt microphone gets disabled, the other party can’t hear you talking at all. Ideally, the phone microphone should be enabled if it detects a regular 3.5mm stereo jack. And it should disable the microphone only when it detects the handsfree with microphone. It should be able to do this. Froyo didn’t have this problem. This is an injected defect in Gingerbread.
No call logs
i have updated my firmware to gingerbread and now i have no call logs on my phone ....
Galaxy S 4G
Incoming calls are registered but outgoing are not.

Try the VUVKF2 ROM - some fixes from KF1 and the call log issue sure looks like it is fixed
Also FYI,,, the music playing when i remove/plugin the headphone glitch has also been removed....
Running the VUVKF1 gingerbread rom and the call logs are fine. Didn't notice that the bluetooth button in the notification bar caused FC until brought up lol.
Where do i get it?
Is there stable KF2 Firmware that i can use ?
And where can i get it ?
The one that i use is from samfirmware.com
It says that it is a T-Mobile FW.
Can some one point me to a KF2 FW that is from T-Mobile?
Also is there a way to go back (Just in case) to Froyo 2.2.1 that i had before ?
Thanks Guys!

There is a stable KF2 from Tmobile( more stable than KF1). Here is the link below.
Leaked KF2 ROM with all bloatware from T-Mobile
--> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1139326
The procedure you have to follow to root is here,
(but download the KF2 ROM package from the 1st link)
--> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1131230
Finally to root KF2, use the zimage-root-patch from this link
--> http://pradeepclicks.com/sgs4g/zImage-root/zImage
Follow everything to the letter from link 1 and you should be all fine.
Note: If you face problems getting into download mode using the Vol-, Vol+, USB cable method, Follow one of the methods mentioned in this link below.

OK, so if i do not have to root, i can just flash my device with odin?

Yes, You can just flash the ROM with ODIN, exactly like you did for KF1, except for the bootloader part, which will NOT be present. KF1 bootloaders are just fine. Just keep in mind that to get to the download mode is a little different because GB has a changed key sequences Refer to the link that I posted earlier if you face problems getting into download mode.
There are 2 files in the rar, one is the rom and the other is DLL
I am not quite sure which package you picked up, if you downloaded from the link I posted, you would be getting a *.tar.md5 file which you would be 'ODIN'ing like you did for KF1.
So how do i use this exactly, what options should i check in odin?
Exactly like you did for KF1.
I have the KF1 installed, if that helps.
Personally, I prefer heimdall, because you know what exactly you are flashing because you are selecting it manually each time ( like modem, cache, zimage, etc etc)
Again, the SGS4G BIBLE is the perfect thing for you to start. ODIN or HIEMDALL - it describes you how to go about it.

I am very grateful for your help, but this last post just got me more confused than i was before.
When i flashed the first time there were more files so i saw this guide :
droidangel.blogspot.com/2011/06/how-to-odin-flash-updateupgrade-samsung.html
It showed me what options to select in odin and what files to pick.
This rom has 2 files, so its different, all i need to know is how to use what i have.
The link you gave me is awesome, but it just confusing me with this endless info about everything. it is hard to find what i need to do EXACTLY in my current situation.
Can you please just tell me what options to select in odin ?
THANKS.

Ok, here it goes, the SS_DL.dll is useless, as far as I know. You can ignore it. And you can procede with the flash using the other file *.tar.md5 . And follow the instructions provided in the link that you followed earlier to flash KF1. That should get you going. Hope it helps.

I just need an instruction to flash it with ODIN.
Should be simple instruction : select this and that and click start.
I already know how to go to download mode and everything ...
Just the options in ODIN.
Do i select this file as Bootloader or Phone ?
I have now the KF1 does t mean that it wil use bootloader of KF1 or do i get new one here?
Why sometimes its several files and sometimes its just one?
Thanks, i hope that i am not getting on your nerves, but you WILL help me i know!

First of all thanks to samfirmware. Odin this to get Deodexed stock EH06 with the purple CWM 3.1.0.1, latest root and su binary and Busybox 1.19.
Thanks to Necrosan for pointing out that there was a new version of baksmali the browser is now fixed.

I'm looking forward to proper busybox functionality. I love running scripts on these leaks, you can get major performance increases on stock roms.
Does this include the modem as well?
If this was not deodexed with baksmali 1.2.7, I strongly advise folks to stay away from this release.
Major bug changes were implemented in 1.2.7 that are required to properly deodex/decompile Samsung 2.3 series ROMS.
If this was not decompiled/deodexed with baksmali 1.2.7, this will be buggy.

I love your tar balls, honestly I hate updates.zip as I feel they are as reliable as ota's, using odin makes me more comfortable. That being said, I have been having issues installing cwmod on all of your tarballs. It was fine for the first week or so using eg22 and then when i had to odin for a reason i now forget cwmod didnt install. I thought it was a fluke and i tried again only to find out it was the tar ball. Su, busybox, and everyhting else work fine. I then used odin to flash it. that worked twice and then stoppped. Next I tried hiemdall and that worked. Now trying it on this 1 in 20 flashes of the kernal for cwmod are working. Unfortunately I ddint make a backup after flashing a rom which was a bad install and was forced to odin(hiemdall actually) to stock instead and now i cant get cwmod installed. I have tried different cords and usb slots. Any suggestions would be helpful.
thanks

I don't see how that would be possible. CWM is built into the tar. I have flashed it many times and know for sure it is there. But try this new version and see what you get.

ICS Modem Files - WORKING UCAL4 Modem

EDIT
See post #5 for CWM Zip
Be sure to thank LeeC for the zip and Carrett for giving us the files.
For those that have ICS installed, would you be able to pull the modem files out. Figured I'd test some theories out with getting this on a rogers version. Shot in the dark, but figured I would make the leap.
For those of you that are wondering how to; You will need to do this:
adb shell dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p13 of=/sdcard/amss.bin
adb shell dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p17 of=/sdcard/mdm.bin
adb pull /sdcard/amss.bin
adb pull /sdcard/mdm.bin
Then just throw that into a zip for me.
Appreciate any help you can provide.
Here are mine. Hopefully devs find this useful! What's weird is that mdm.bin and amss.bin end up being EXACTLY the same size (down to the byte). I double-checked and did it twice to be sure.
Let me know if I can adb anything else for y'all.

Havent noticed any issues with the radio....
But if i try any of the leaked flashable zips (NON rogers/nandroid one) it still lags like it used to when i had the KJ7 radio =S

That updater-script won't install the RIL properly. It's looking for "system" in the zip, but its "lib". If you change it to this I think it should:
Code:
package_extract_dir("lib", "/system/lib");
unmount("/system");
Thanks romracer. I updated and the libs are now updated properly. Unfortunately I was hoping this would stabilize LTE for me but it didn't. Although it has improved.

No more network with every usim

Hello guys!
I got a Samsung GT-I5800 for few months but seems I have a big problem from some days actually.
I was using it when I suddenly lost the network coverage. Reboot, factory recovery, tried other carrier usims however it did not start to work again.
It doesn't work nor with automatic and manual network choice nor with enabled and disabled packed data whereas, if I try to send a message or make a call, an error popup appears saying "Data network not available".
I have never performed a root flash or something else so it is always been original factory.
here some info:
Firmware version 2.2
Baseband versions I5800XXJP4
Kernel version 2.6.32.9 [email protected] #1
Build number FROYO.XWJPI
I'm very glad if someone can help me to solve this awful problem given that the device is unusable
Try to add APN(search in the Internet for it) to your phone(Wireless and Network>Mobile networks>APN)
I already know what it is and it is configured (for my Internet plan)...
the real problem is that it cannot take the network signal anymore...there is a blue symbol like a circle with a line instead of normal signal bars

Check your IMEI by *#06#. If it is all zeros then it is corrupted. If it's old one then it is fine
You can try disabling then enabling flight mode. Wiping data or dalvik cache. Good Luck!
PS: Backup your efs folder to PC using Root exlorer. It contains IMEI and must NOT be deleted. Just for safety advice!

I had a search about zerofill. is it useful to delete everything, right? I didn't get how flash it and re-flash the original firmware...by kies?
You'll need ODIN for that to flash the ROM. [Make sure you read instructions]
It will wipe all phone data so take backup from Titanium backup first.

It doesn't matter the phone is empty due to several factory restores in order to try to solve the situation
Ok, thank you guy, I'll try to search some instructions. I'll give a feedback here...hoping it s gonna be positive
p.s. I found a zerofill G3.tar on this forum. Is it good for my galaxy GT-I5800?
Yes, It wipes everything in phone memory. All the previous traces. It might solve your problem.
PS: Or Flash any other firmware. It always works.

so, zerofill to erase EVERYthing and the I have to download my original ROM to flash it?
the zerofill tar contains 3 files .rfs: cache, datafs and factoryfs. Do i have to flash these by odin? sorry guy but i don't find any tutorial about odin and zerofill
It looks you have never flashed a ROM in ODIN. In that case I would say forget zerofill and just flash a firmware you want. Because you'll need to flash a ROM after flashing zerofill too. I recommend Custom ROM as it is fast and more features, it will void your warranty though. But you can always flash stock ROM to get your warranty back.
If you want to go Stock, then you can find stock ROM at samfirmware.com. Download anyone from there. Post here when you finish downloading. I'll post the instructions.

g_ding84 - U DA MAN!
Thank you.
I need to spend some quality time with my T235 in order to test your new ROM out.
Unfortunately, I do not have the time to do that today. I will install and test drive it tomorrow.
Thanks so much for doing this for us,
TTB
Finally! A Rom for T235!!
Thank you so much!!
I will give it a try!
This will work for T235 as well right? Mine have no (Y) at the back.

I'm assuming it should. Is the recovery the same for each device? The T230, T230NU and T231 can all run the same firmware. (Except the T231 needs a different Modem and the T230NU needs the NU kernel for IR blaster to work)
What is the difference between the two?

It seems the recovery is the same, as we can see on the TopTongueBarry thread on this forum, where you've written some posts... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=58774968&postcount=7

So.....this ROM is based off the SM-T235Y. But its just the system and kernel.
This ROM won't change any of the other firmware..ie recovery, modem and boot loader.
Amazing Rom

So far this Rom is working just beautiful.... the only bug that i just found is .... my T235y failed to connect to wifi
it recognize the networks available but it fails to obtain ip address .... other than that seems to be an amazing rom from XDA developers
big thanks to g_ding84

I think I know what is causing that. I'll get that fixed shortly. Did you happen to pull a logcat? There is a missing symlink in my updater-script and I need to see which one.
Just a quick question, did you try a router reboot? Did you try to forget connection and then try to reconnect?
Thank you for stepping up.

This is a test version. If you don't feel comfortable they you are free to wait. If you do want to flash it and test to see if everything works, awesome.
With testing there are a few things you will need.
1. A stable backup to fall back on.....ie, make a backup in recovery
2. Odin and your firmware (in a .tar.md5 )
3. Knowledge of how to get yourself out of a bootloop
4. How to pull a logcat.
Its all up to you......every ROM and/or flash comes with risks. It boils down to, are you willing to take that risk?

I'll check with RVR, to see if he has a fix. He created the recovery for the SMG-800F which I based this recovery on,, changing the kernel and the size of the filesystems based on the T235 factory settings.
He may know of the 64GB issue and since fixed it on the G800F recovery. If so I'll be able to fix this recovery fairly quickly for you.

First I did try "retry". when it failed again i did try forget and reboot tablet and tried all over again without luck....... ROUTER... i did not reboot router since all other devices were working properly... but i am gonna reboot router tonight and see what happen . other thing that i have noticed is that no predictable text on keyboard even taht predictable text is enable...... something that i can live with..... thanks again for your hard work....
Wi-Fi, predictive text, Model, and LTE Bands
-- Confirming that my T235 failed to connect to wifi it recognizes the networks available, authenticates with the passcode, but fails to obtain an ip address which is necessary to connect.
-- Predictive text no workey even when turned on in settings.
RE: Phone Model and LTE Bands
-- Phone Info + shows that my Phone Model is now showing as a T235Y which isn't really a problem, but the original CSC code and the active CSC code both show (BGL) Bulgaria and the CSC Product code shows as SM-T235NYKATPL (T235). -- Only reason I bring this up is because I am still unable to do anything with the LTE bands of the SS222 on my T235.
-- Even tried to flash the T235Y modem firmware to the T235 device in hopes it would change the LTE bands to from EUR to Tawainese bands thus giving me some hope of eventually enabling US LTE bands on the device after that, but the T235Y modem flash fails to complete successfully, and then leaves the radio inoperable until I flash the T235 modem firmware back on to the device again. EDIT: was able to successfully flash the T235Y modem firmware onto the device using TWRP after I created an updater script, but the radio still doesn't work after a successful flash completion until I reflash the original T235 modem firmware back onto the device.
-- I'm thinking the remaining CSC country/model (BGL and T235) being on my device conflicts with the ROM Phone Model type (T235Y) possibly causing the T235Y modem firmware flashing to fail. I know I am reaching here, but this theory sounds much better to me than another possibility that the SS222 modem HW for the T235 won't support the different LTE bands supported by the T235Y, or any other LTE bands than it came with from the factory.
Anyone have thoughts, ideas, real knowledge or information whether the remnants of CSC in a ROM could prevent flashing a SS222 with a different region's modem firmware versus the SS222 modem hardware of each device T235 / T235Y only being compatible with the LTE bands/freq's it was shipped from the factory with?
I really hope its CSC not HW!

(Ahem...!) Any news about this?
I guess I know what occurs with TWRP: it DO write the bckp, but then, on rebooting, nothing is there. This is the common SD "issue" on KK, but now it occurs only with some apps, I think. I "SD-fixed" my card in any possible way for me...of course.
Right now I'm not able to delete 2 empty folders created weeks ago. Root Explorer apparently does it, but, on reboot, they are there again...
Therefore, I'm able to move files beetwin folders, and delete it.

Hi g_ding84, any chance of a little more love for our T235 and T235Y's soon in the way of a fix for wifi and predictive text issues? Custom kernel is probably too much to ask for at this point.

Yes sir.....I've been really busy with work and the Fam. Lol such is life. Yes but still trying to figure out the WiFi issue. That's the main goal. I might have to switch the base to the SM-T235 and not the (Y) version.
Would someone be able to pull the whole /system and PM it to me......so I can see what the differences are?

I have a T235, I'm willing to do it, but you should know, I'm back to rooted , stock rom, with a modified csc for Open Columbia (COO) hoping I could force the SS222 LTE modem to work on band 17 here in USA.
Had no such luck with the modem, but the CSC mod is solid. Hate to lose that to only have to do it again, but I will if you need me to and no other offer comes in for whole /system of a T235.

How to "pull /System"? I have the NJ3 version just rooted....without modem or CSC changes.
It's necessary to flash OB base?
It's just taking Root explorer, copying /system folder?
