So here's a short list of what I did wrong:
1. Assumed I could waltz into the world of flashing on SGS4G just because I flash my MT4G almost everyday.
2. Flashed a ROM meant for 2.3 on a phone that had 2.2 on it.
It appears as if I soft bricked my mom's Galaxy S 4G. Almost time I boot the phone, I get a rainbow screen that changes periodically and hear a female-like voice saying something about a partition. Other times I get stuck in a bootloop. In an attempt to fix this, I tried to use Odin first. The website that one of the files was stored on was shut down recently. So I moved on to Heimdall. Everything was working fine until I had to choose which drivers to install.
In a sense, Heimdall detects my device. It indicates that the phone is connected and the phone is in download mode. But when it comes to time to choose the drivers to install, the only options I get are Unknown Device, which has no available drivers, and Gadget Serial. Sometimes I don't even get the option of Unknown Device.
So my three questions are as follows.
1. Is this actually a soft brick?
2. If not, what is the problem?
3. How can I fix the issue?
first of all tell me how did you install rom and from where
you hear a female voice in the sense you installed rom from odin i guess
now there lot many custom roms you can see in the development section you can read the instructions and install them
when a phone i soft bricked it actually shows up a screen saying "firmware upgrade failed reboot into recovery mode in kies"
now if you can enter recovery mode in the phone you are good to go
tell me more abt wt u did

I installed the ROM from the development forums and it was an Octane ROM. I'm not entirely sure which one. I know it was 2.X and themed like ICS. Themed but not true ICS. (Obviously)
I followed the instructions step by step like I always do when flashing my HTC Glacier. I followed a guide which told me to download two files, a recovery and UPDATE.ZIP. I had to put both in the root of my SD card initially, but push the recovery to system\bin. Booted into recovery, reinstalled packages, got to orange CWM, wiped cache and delvik cache, checked mounts and installed the zip from the SD card. The installation went smooth, but as soon as the phone booted, the screen went haywire and that creepy lady started mumbling.
I can't reboot into recovery. I either get stuck in a bootloop or stuck on the rainbow screen with the female voice mumbling about a partition. I'm pretty sure I tried to flash a ROM meant for Gingerbread when the phone was running on Froyo.
actually you are moving from froyo to gingerbread so obviously there is a change in bootloaders so i will post a link for you where you can download odin for sgs4g,drivers may be(i hope you have it already) and stock gingerbread.
i advice you to odin a gingerbread rather than using zip file in cwm but try to enter recovery mode
1.switch off ur phone
2.hold(volume up) and (volume down) at a time and hold power button when a screen splashes release the power button still holding the volume buttons.
3.this will take you to recovery mode where you can see an orange screen
4.try to reinstall the rom which you downloaded if that do not help then i will post you a link follow the instructions in that
---------- Post added at 02:05 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:00 PM ----------
first get into download mode
1.to enter download mode hold both volume buttons(i.e volume up and volume down) and insert usb to the phone
2.you will see an android icon with a triangle saying downloading then in pda section of the odin put the following file
Odin 1.85
Extract the rar file
Place the file in the pda section of odin and flash
Reboot enjoy Quit messing with kies
Download link
http://sourceforge.net/projects/team...n.rar/download
just le me know whether it works or not
At this point my mom is more interested in getting the phone to work. That's why I was using Heimdall. I'll definitely give your method a try, though.
The bootloaders would be the part I missed out on. I'm so used to the HTC Glacier and the ease of flashing that comes with it.

the link which i gave you is not for entering into recovery mode but for download mode i hope you used odin before
1.start odin first
2.load in pda section the file(its a zip file extract it and you can see md5 file in it) which you downloaded
3.to enter download mode press and hold both volume buttons and insert usb cable
4.you will see an android icon and big triangle saying downloading or it may say firmware upgrade failed reboot into recovery in kies but dont worry odin will still detect ur phone
5.then odin will detect your phone by showing up an yellow area on the top
6.now you are good to go click start and let odin do the rest of the work
7.reboot your phone your phone and wallah
enjoy

You can get it back with Heimdall. Take a look at bhundven's [Heimdall][One-Click][UVKJ6] The KJ6 Heimdall One-Click Collection [12/11/2011]. All that is required to run the Heimdall One-Click is Java. Follow Bryan's post there and you should be fine. Note that you'll have to flash twice - Once to get the ROM on there & the 2nd time you need to check "Flash bootloaders". That will get you up and going.
The female voice you hear is "Linda" and she's trying to convert the native Samsung file system (rfs) to an ext4 file system as it's faster. That's what people are referring to when you hear about voodoo lagfix.
If you flash the 1st one-click, you'll be on stock Gingerbread. If you flash the 3rd one, you'll have stock ROM (read: bloated), with CWM recovery and root. From there you could flash Octane or other ROMs if you wish.

Right now, I'm PMing lumin30 who came out with a step by step guide for Heimdall. Heimdall indicates that my phone is connected, but Samsung USB Composite Device is not an option when the time comes to install drivers. All I get is Gadget Serial and sometimes Unknown Device.
Sent from my HTC Mytouch 4G using XDA
Guys, I missed a step that had to do with deleting drivers for anything Samsung/Android from my computer. I did so, ran through Heimdall again and it worked like a charm. The phone is up and running smoother than ever.
One thing, the phone never showed up as Samsung USB Composite Device, only Gadget Serial. I installed the drivers for it, and it worked. Weird, but I'm glad it all came together. Thank you all for your help and expertise.
One last question. Now that the phone is running on 2.3.6, can I safely flash a ROM such as Octane 2.X which is built for GB? I'm going to wait for an answer before I even try anything. I don't want that dreaded rainbow screen again.
I answered your PM on this.

Yes you can. If you're on stock 2.3.6, though, you'll have to flash a ROM via Heimdall or ODIN (Heimdall, preferably) that has CWM. You don't have to worry about the rainbow screen if you go to another Gingerbread-based ROM. The rainbow screen is the result of going from Froyo -> Gingerbread but not having the latter's bootloaders installed.
If he is on 2.3.6 why are you saying he has to flash with Heimdall or ODIN? Unless you think he is on stock 2.3.6?
Either way - he has been asking me the same questions through PM and is on a custom ROM already.
Yeah, I said stock. No biggie. I assumed he wasn't custom yet by that particular post. Good looking out

pull battery and then plug in usb then hold down volume and then you should be in download mode. you should see phone on odin.

i have yet to see anyone say "delete" the recovery file. it is always "overwrite". regardless, put your phone into download mode. you are doing it wrong. try again until you get it right.
remove the battery. leave it off for 10 seconds. put it back in. press and hold the two volume buttons at the same time. then plug in the usb cable that is connected to your computer. odin should be running already. i would follow gb start pack from here.
i turned of the phone and held the volume down button and the power button, letting go of the power once the turn on screen came up. i was trying to flash the leaked android 2.3.5 for the galaxy s 4g
please read my previous post carefully. i never said to press the power button at all.
OKAY, dwld mode is volumes plus USB cable, never failed me, even when I failed a flash through odin/heimdall and just maybe a yellow pixel or even nothing shows up.
If it flashes it is dwld. The GS4g has absolutely no junk bootloader witthout proper download mode unlike other galaxies.
PS. Who else wants a Galaxy Nexus?
What is the tmobile warranty policy, I know if there is a problem with your phone even due to damage, the warranty covers it for replacement after paying contract price, but do they allow a change of phone eg instead of paying 99 or 139 for another gs4g, get a galaxy nexus for 199?
My phone works, but after it fell, it overheats and loses battery. I even got a free new battery, and I even went back to stock KD1 for a while, no difference.
So, I did what you said, and i got into download mode, no problem. but when i tried to flash with odin it just said fail.. any suggestions?
Although the square window might say "Fail" there's a status window in the bottom left-hand side of ODIN that should give you more information. What does that window say when you try to flash?
It said succesful 0/ failed 1. I tried to reboot my phone and now it won't turn on at all...
It sounds like your boot loaders are hosed.
Keep ODIN open & use the battery-pull method to see if it'll go into download mode (the screen might still be black, but see if ODIN recognizes it).
If it does:
Download chadster's KG4: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1183413
Put CODE_T959VUVKG4_CL138158_REV00_user_low_noship.tar.md5 in PDA
Put Hawk_Sidekick_VibrantPlus_831.pit in PIT
Put SGH-T959V-CSC-TMB-VIBRANT.tar.md5 in CSC
Put T959VUVKG4-Phone-CL1037720.tar.md5 in PHONE
Let ODIN decide what boxes need to be checked and flash. That will get you booted up on GB with the proper boot loaders.
Try the Unbrickable Mod in the dev section. Brought mine back today. I had a Bright WHITE screen. lol
NO BOOT
After flashing this kernel> sms-T959V-KJ6-antsvx.v1.1.3 my Galaxy S4G will not boot AFTER restoring my backup using CWM 5.0.2.8. My phone runs perfect with the stock rom and this kernel. ONLY after restoring does it NOT boot.
Can someone shine some light on this situation?
You need to restore using the kernel you made the back up from. You can then flash the new kernel over the restored back up.

Thanks much Lumin30. Had to read your post sloooow and figure it out, and I got it. I flashed the stock+Voodoo-T959VKJ1 in Odin and it booted right up
then flashed the sms-T959V-KJ6-antsvx.v1.1.3 kernel in CWM. Im good to go now.
This has happened to me 2 other times can you suggest why? The other times I restored phone back to factory :crying:.
Still not booting AFTER restoring cwm backup
I always attempt to restore a backup that I have made using cwm as a test. Im trying to restore using the same kernel I made the backup with. When I proceed the full restore appears to go through (I get "restore complete" message in CWM v.5.0.2.8), but when I click on "reboot system now" my phone goes ONLY to the Samsung screen and stays there.
I have restored my phone to stock about 5 times carefully re-rooting and flashing the kernel with the stock firmware. Now, I have AntonX Barebones and Basic with a twist kernel installed, they work perfectly! But I CANNOT boot AFTER restoring a full backup, unless I use Odin. Can someone help me to address and fix the cause?
Edit> I was able to restore and boot up automatically a backup using CWM 5.0.2.8 of AntonX's Barebones Rom with bhundven's Blastoff 2.5 kernel. Dont know why it restored and booted properly this time but this is what I did:
I made a fresh backup of Barebones with Blastoff because I wanted to try Valhalla Black (nice ROM). I flashed it first using the "generic" install and checked through its features then wanted to see how the "custom" install felt. I decided I liked Barebones better and flashed the Blastoff kernel onto Valhalla Black, Then booted into CWM and restored my Barebones with Blastoff backup. Without wiping anything or fixing permissions my backup was fully restored and my phone booted properly on its own. I know this is what should happen, but it wasnt for me. And every time I attempted this I was restoring using the same kernel that the backup was made with. I restored twice since just to test it and both times my phone booted on its own. I believe my problemo is solved. It is possible I had a couple of bad downloads on my part with AntonX Basic with a twist 1.1.3
Thanks to the community (XDA)
Ok so im not a newb to flashing ROMs or kernels and such. Both my roomate have the charge with imoseyon's kernel and DarkChargedTQ ROM. While he was on a business trip his phone reset but wouldnt boot, it would just loop at the samsung screen. So he got home, livid of course becuase of his broken phone so I tried to fix it.
I flashed back EP1W using ODIN which completes properly. THen when it reboots the stock recovery comes up saying that it cant mount /cache. THen if you try to factory reset it says that it cant mount /data. When I reboot I am still in the samsung boot loop.
Please Help, I was the one who flashed his phone and now its broken so im kinda freaking out!
I had a slightly different issue, kept getting the recovery halt when trying to go back to stock, all using the directions here. Nothing worked.
I then discovered this process, and it got my phone booting and stock.

There might be an easier fix for you, but just sharing something that helped me out.
Thanks for the suggestion but thats a no go. Here is a little more detail.
After flashing the recovery fails to load the /cache. So when I try to fatory reset, I get this:
E:failed to mount /data (Invalid Argument)
E:install_application_for_customers: Can't mount /data
your storage not prepared yet, pl,ease use UI menu for format and reboot actions
Anyone ever seen this and can you help me?
Have you tried this?http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1111486
This was the only way I was able to get out of a bootloop condition the very first time I flashed this phone:
http://www.mydroidworld.com/forums/...harge-ee4-full-factory-odin-return-stock.html
You need to download and install SamsungPST
Download the charge.pit file
Download the CI510_VZW_EE4_ALL_ONE-LTE-CP_REV03_user_CL1014954.tar.md5
Next, you pull the battery from your phone, connect the USB cable to your phone and computer. Then, press the volume down button to enter "download" mode. AFTER you have entered download mode you *MUST* put the battery back into the phone. Do not skip this.
So, at this point you should have your phone connected to your computer, in download mode, ready to flash WITH the battery in the phone to provide the extra power it needs during the flash process.
Next, You run the SamsungPST program, load the PIT file in the PIT section, load the .md5 file into the software section below the PIT *AND* you must click the "Repartition" *AND* the "Update Boot" checkbox before you start flashing.
Your phone will reboot after the flash process is complete and you will see some messages on the screen and it will reboot itself again before finally coming up.
BE PATIENT. This process takes a while. It takes more than six minutes to flash the phone AND another ~5 minutes before it boots up on its own. (possibly longer.)
Hopefully this will recover you. The "Repartition" option is very important. Flashing this same ROM with Odin did not work for me when I had to recover my phone. There is something about the SamsungPST program that is somehow more thorough or works better for this type of recovery.
I wrote this down from memory, so the wording might be slightly off, but you should be able to get it.

OK this sounds like it might work as its the only solution I have seen that uses the repartion. I have never delt with this and I may be really stupid right now but where do I get teh charge .pit file?

It seems like I dont have any partitions but I though that using the .pit and checking re=partition should fix the problem???

PIT isn't supposed to be used with GB roms.. go back to EE4 with the PIT file then boot up to make sure it works right, then Odin the GB rom of your choice by itself and you shouldn't have problems

Using the pit file will take you back to stock EE4. Since there is no official release after EE4 the file wont change. Even if we do get upped to an official OTA of GB you could still use this file to go back to EE4 and then you would get prompted to upgrade to GB.

Ok didnt really follow everything so just gonna throw some stuff out there. So you are stuck at recovery so you can flash a .zip file? I found ee4 as a .zip file so you could try and do that but that doesnt help if you need to re partition. hmm. Instead of ee4 you could always try a download of ed1 or ed2. Or flash a .tar instead of a .md5. Im a noob also so just trying to help. Since you can odin files can you access your sd card? Can you odin clockwork and then try and load a file from there?
He's stuck system Samsung recovery can't flash from there but yeah flash cmw then flash a rom with kernal I think that should fix it cause when u flash w o kernal Samsung stock over writes cwm if I am not mistaking

Found something else but it was for another phone. Can you take your sd card out. Use and adapter to put in your computer, format it then put .zip file on there and see if it see's it. Ok well probably making things worse so as someone said take it to verizon and get replacement.

So something similar to this might work?
1. Download Odin, cwm_froyo-odin.zip
2. Extract cwm_froyo-odin.zip, place update.zip on root of SD card
3. Power phone down, remove battery
4. Open Odin, hold volume down and plug in USB to enter download mode
5. Select PDA and place cwm_froyo.tar and flash
6. Upon finish, replace battery, hold both volume buttons down and power on until you enter stock recovery (blue)
7. Apply:update.zip to enter red recovery
honestly thank you everyone for all your suggestions.
Here is where im at now. I was able to finally get an ED1 to flash with the pit file. Phone went through the same process of flashing, then went to samsung recovery and said it couldnt mount things, but it wasnt the same. It was like /dev/... and things of that nature. Factory reset, same thing. NOw when I boot I get bootlooped at the eye, which is better than what I was getting.
I didnt even think about flashing CWM to it and then flashing a rom/kernel. I might try that after I go through this. BUt as it is now the phone shouldnt show any signs of tampering so I may take it to verizon. Ill let everynoe know and THANKS AGAIN I really appreciate everyones help
I have clockwork as a .md5 file . Flash that from odin and then recover from there.

Hey everyone!
So I flashed a ji6 tar through SGS kernel flasher to get 2e recovery. I think it managed to do so successfully because now I have CWM when I boot into recovery. HOWEVER, when recovery pops up it goes to the CWM screen and FREEZES! I cannot select any options including reboot system. I also now cannot startup my phone normally! What can I do? I have ODIN but it won't detect my phone when it's connected (tried this about 20 times). I'm running a mac so I guess there aren't very many options. The only way out of anything int his mess is to pull the battery. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP! My phoen is now useless for all purposes. I tried factory reset, etc. On normal bootup my phone is stuck on the startup screen and never progresses past. Help please!

Recovery in CWM freezes, 2e recovery leading to the CWM screen is fine but when I hit'reboot now' or startup regularly using the power button, it's stuck on the boot up logo page. But I'm investigating Heimdall hopefully that helps or I am totally at my wit's end! Been working on this for a couple hours using everything I can think of! (And Google and XDA forums of course!)
Gave Heimdall a whirl, it just says failed to confirm end of PIT file transfer. HELP!!!

Any chance you have access to a Windows based system? I've never used Heimdall, so I can't help you there.
Are you 100% sure you're in Download mode? Yellow shovel guy. Were you using Odin with VMware Fusion or something similar? Try different USB ports if it's a G5 or something, doesn't apply if a Macbook.
Heimdall is open source and it works on all platforms...
It's BETTER!

I don't doubt that at all. I flash to stock so seldom now that using Odin once ever 3 or 4 months doesn't bother me.

unfortunately i know nothing about heimdall, even though im the one that suggested it. studa! help a man out! i gave you your 900
here is a link to a 1 click heimdall package, which also has a prerooted version i suggest you get that as this a transitory os and rooting is part of the process of getting 2e recovery WITHOUT flashiing a stock kernel that will make your phone unbootable.
if you have connection issues refer to THIS THREAD
once that is completed, refer to THIS THREAD to MANUALLY replace 2recovery.
then to make sure it wasn't a wonky cwm file you had that made it freeze(actually now that i think about it you could use adb to push this to the root of /mnt/sdcard FIRST to see if its the cwm file. adb should work in recovery) grab the attached update.zip
Had a similar situation and had to order the USB jig to get out of it. It is pretty easy to make or if you want an easy (and clean) option, order one. Once you have that, remove the battery, SIM and SD. Reinsert the battery and then insert the USB jig. It will go right into download mode and then from there use Odin to flash it back to stock.
Hi there,

Unlocked Rogers SAMSUNG-Galaxy infuse failed system after GTG's Ultimate Unbrick
Hi, I'm new to this new Unbrick thing... I was about to throw out my Unlocked Galaxy Infuse and saw hope in this thread.
I unrooted my phone (not even sure how it got rooted in the first place) using GTG and Odin 3v 1.7. Did the hard reset. Now I see At&t and Samsung logo just hangs there. It's not even a boot loop because "Samsung" doesn't flashes.
This means I used the wrong Unbrick? So.... what now please? I just want my phone to be as it was when I first got it (Not rooted, default settings).
Can someone please explain to a newbie (I admit it!) step by step how to proceed? (When I hold vol up and down + power, samsung logo flashes like a boot loop. cant get past that.)
Thanks in advance )
PSS Should I use UXKG3, UCLB3 Unbrick... ? So confused...

You probably already have it figured out...use UCLB3 if you're phone was released by AT&T, or UXKG3 if you bought through Rogers. I had the same predicament when I thought I bricked my phone and tried to go back to stock (I use Rogers so I was a little confused that my phone was crashing every 15 seconds with the UCLB3 back-to-stock).
Luckily I don't have to follow the UCLB3/UXKG3 conundrum with ROMS like CyanogenMod. Using CM 10.1 with UCLB3 kernel without any issues.
Same problem

Odin Instructions:
1) Make sure the drivers for the Infuse 4G are installed. (Installing Kies is the easiest way to accomplish this.)
2) Download and unzip Odin_UXKG3_rooted_no_bootloaders.zip.
3) Run Odin v1.81 as administrator.
4) Place your phone into download mode. (Pull battery, replace battery, and press and hold both volume buttons while plugging in the USB cable.)
5) Make sure your phone shows up in Odin as COM##.
6) Click the PDA button and choose PDA_UXKG3_rooted_no_bootloaders.tar.md5.
7) Click the PHONE button and choose PHONE_UXKG3.tar.md5.
8) Press Start.
9) If the phone doesn't automatically reboot after it completes the flash, just pull the battery and then replace it and turn on the phone.
10) You should perform a factory reset after it boots. Go to Settings > Privacy and select factory reset. Warning: This will clear everything on your internal SD card, so move everything you want to keep to the external SD card first.

Just so I don't screw up again in future rooting attempts, got any tips/links one should look at before attempting to root. I really wanna learn
If you flashed with above, then you are already rooted
Yeah look for superuser app in app drawer! Or download a root checker in Play Store to check!

Is there any way of checking if CWM Recovery is installed as well? I'm trying to install Cyanfox 4.4.2 ROM which requires a KitKat compatible CWM Recovery, which is what I need. Any suggestions would be great!

Hmm.. It could be files in your Internal SD card. Best to copy thing your need to your pc then format it. Also seem you using replacing recovery method thru root explorer / file manager to get CWM Recovery 2.5.1.2. My method is a bit different but it get me from GB stock + root and Synthesis GB Kernel to any other Rom without going thru ICS and JB:
1. Either use Odin or Heimdall One-Click. Follow instruction on how to do it.
2. While phone running install sgs kernel flasher from Market/Google Play.
2a. Copy/transfer Synthesis GB Kernel to your Internal SD card.
2b. Start up sgs kernel flasher and choose it from your Internal SD card. Phone will auto-reboot after done flashing.
2c. Wait a bit while your phone convert to new partition format and activate lagfix. Your CWM recovery version should be 2.5.1.3
3. Reboot phone into CWM Recovery and DISABLE vodoo lagfix and /system lagfix. Reboot once done. Phone will convert partition to old format. If you don't turn the lagfix off the phone will hang at Samsung logo when you install new rom.
4. Prepare your flavor rom/gapp for installation by copying them to your Internal SD card.
4a. Go into CWM Recovery mode and install the rom. You will need to do this twice since the 1st time was just a warning about partition format being different.
4b. Reboot once done. You will need to REMOVE the battery to power down the booting process and put it back in.
4c. Go into the New CWM Recovery and install the rom again since the previous attempt only install the new CWM Recovery.
5. Install Gapp.
6. a. Wipe: Cache / Factory Reset <--- Probably don't need it since it's new install from stock unless you installed stuff. Just to be safe.
b. Wipe: Cache Partition
c. Wipe: Dalvik Cache
7. Reboot
Hope that help.

No custom bootloaders come with the back-to-stock image. To check, do the three-finger salute to turn in on (power, and both volume buttons pressed). Will see either 3e recovery or CWM in the title. If it is the former, you can try this link (method 1), but I ended up doing the below:
Instructions:
1) Create a folder on your internal SD card called Voodoo. Then create another folder inside of it called disable-lagfix.
2) Make sure the Samsung USB drivers are installed. Installing Kies is a good way to accomplish this. It shouldn't matter which version of Kies you install as they all contain the same USB driver.
3) Download and unzip Odin_Infused_Gingerbread_Kernel_v1.zip.
4) Right click on Odin3_v1.81.exe and run it as administrator.
5) Place your phone into download mode. Do this by powering it completely off and then holding down both volume buttons while plugging in the USB cable.
6) Make sure your phone shows up in Odin as COM##.
7) Click the PDA button and choose PDA_Infused_Gingerbread_Kernel_v1.tar.md5.
8) Press Start.
9) If the phone doesn't automatically reboot after it completes the flash, just pull the battery and then replace it and turn on the phone.
10) You should now be rooted and see the Superuser app installed on your phone.

your welcome
OMG, thanks sooo much you guys for this, you just saved me a trip to rogers to cancel my phone plan (even though its like $90 a month for 6gb of data)
Rooted my phone, then tried to use ODIN for the recovery 3e install thing, which failed. Thought my phone was bricked and used the GTG ultimate unbrick which caused more problems
Samsung Galaxy s 4g T959V-Gingerbread. Rooted it with SuperOneClick... Didnt have CWM. when I tried to install Black Ice and ICNINB. Tried doing with Rom Manager. Then read that doesn't work with this phone. Was able to flash AltonX KJ6 kernal through SGS kernel flasher in order or get CWM on the phone. That worked. But when I went to flash the zip files for the roms again. They still didn't work. I thought I was following the directions. Get into download mode> create a backup> wipe data> make sure the mounts were right> then flash the zip file. Well the first time I did i,t it kinda went through. Although I didn't have RED CWM or Linda. Wanted to get Voodoo and LagFix. So I decided to flash again. When it came time to reboot.. it got stuck in a loop between two different Samsung screens. One with a big swoopy S the other just the normalt-mobile samsung screen before it boots up. Going from one to the other never really rebooting. So again I decided to get into download mode again and then flash a recovery backup file. And NOW it just hangs on the Samsung T-Moblie screen. I've tried battery pulls also tried using a JIG. Screen pops up but just freezes there.
Any suggestions??

you don't want voodoo lagfix. unreliable, imho.
Try eollie's stock + root in the second post my oneclick thread. It's a stock rom and blastoff v2.5.
Run the oneclick the first time to flash just the kernel and rom.
Click flash bootloaders.
reboot phone to download mode again
flash again, this time with bootloaders.
After that, you should be golden.
Don't forget to read the directions in the OP.

Thank you so much for getting back to me. A couple of questions if I may?
1) if I'm able to get the samsung screen, does that mean I'm able to get into Download mode? It just seems to hang on that samsung T-Mobile screen.
2) The link to dropbox that I'm supposed too click on, seems to be broken... Stock_KJ6_+_root-One-Click.jar (this has the blastoff v2 kernel)- https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/10373328/Stock KJ6 + root-One-Click.jar -
Here's what comes up: Error (404)
We can't find the page you're looking for. Check out our Help Center and forums for help, or head back to home.
3) Assuming that I'm able to get to download mode, I just want to check to make sure that I'm reading your directions correctly.
- when I run OneClick the 1st time, it will automatically apply just the kernel and rom.
- Then I'm supposed to reboot? Or flash the bootloaders?
- After that I'm supposed to reboot phone to download mode again.
- Flash Bootloaders again??
I'm sure I'm messing up the directions or rather misreading them.

Yes. Sometimes even if the phone seems to turn on and go to a black screen, you might still be able to get to download mode.
Seriously, this phone is like a tank... unless you flash gt-i9000 or vibrant roms. Then you will brick your phone.

Put your phone into download mode, either by holding vol+ and vol- and plugging in the usb from your computer (keep holding vol+ and vol- till you see download mode) or use a jig.
Once your in download mode. Flash the first time. Yes, it will only flash the kernel and rom. The phone will automatically reboot after the flash.
Wait a little bit after the phone reboots, you'll see a little local update happen and reboot the phone again. Then pull the battery and put the phone back into download mode.
Then check the "flash bootloaders" checkbox. flash the oneclick again this time with bootloaders.
After this, you can go anywhere from this rom, except back to froyo. I'm still working on a simple oneclick method for going back to froyo.

It's me again... Sorry if I'm being a pain..
So I downloaded the link.. I have it on my desktop...I put my phone into download mode..(Yellow Triangle> Do not unplug).. I clicked on your OneClick... it loads but then tells me to connect my device... It keeps telling me I'm disconnected..
When I plug my phone into my compt via USB.. it now tells me that my device is unrecognized.

I was hoping I was close to a resolution... another roadblock.
Can I fix it?
Once again, thank you for any and all the help and advice you have given me.
There is s thread called fresh out of the box now what. It will help you immensely. Sounds like you need to uninstall all samsung and android drivers and reinstall them. In that thread there is a application for your computer called usbview that can remove them (I probably misspelled that apps name). The thread is by lumin30.

I just went to the samsung website and downloaded the drivers from there.. Still having the same problem... usb device has malfunctioned and windows does not recognize it.
IIRC when you plug the phone in you need to stop it from installing the samsung drivers. Then use zadig to install them like illustrated in lumin30s guide.
Be sure to use a rear usb port if on a desktop. Dont change ports if things start to work. If you have to use a different port I suggest using usbdeview to remove drivers each time. It seems like overkill but it might work.

One more thing, I installed Stock_KJ6_+_root-One-Click.jar (this has the blastoff v2 kernel)... That should mean the phone is rooted.. correct? although I don't see SUPERUSER in my apps list.. Also does this have CWM installed? Can I flash a custom rom moving forward?? If so which one do you consider the best? I originally was having trouble because I was running into low internal memory and couldn't download many apps. That's why I wanted to flash BLACK ICE originally.. I thought that would fix my problem..
This phone suffers from low internal memory. However you can move almost all apps to your sdcard from within the rom. If the things that do not work on the JB roms are ok with you I hear good things about those.
As for the sim card..Im not sure. The one click you used doesnt have SU included because it is a stock rom with custom rooted kernel. You would have to install it from the Play store. But I reccomend flashing a different rom anyway. Again the JB roms seem to be pretty awesome so that is a option.

Did I do something wrong because I didn't pull the sim card when I flashed: Stock_KJ6_+_root-One-Click.jar (this has the blastoff v2 kernel). Also does Stock_KJ6_+_root-One-Click.jar (this has the blastoff v2 kernel) come with CWM Red?

reboot to cwm (recovery). wipe cache partition. advanced -> wipe dalvik cache. advanced -> fix permissions. reboot phone. Let it sit for a few minutes before doing anything (I'd say 10-15 minutes).
Oh weird. did that oneclick come with blastoff v2 and not 2.5?
Hmm, then do this. download blastoff v2.5, put that on your sdcard and install it from red cwm.
Then do what I said above. You should be back to blue after rebooting to recovery after flashing that kernel.
EDIT: if you really want red cwm (voodoo lagfix), I really don't know why you'd want that, but checkout my older subtly modified stock kernel.

No..no.. I'll definitely take your word for it.. I'll stick with the blue. I just thought that with the lagfix, it would fix my problem with internal memory.
My problem now is my SIM card.. The phone reboots and I get : NO SIM CARD IN PHONE
AFTER YOU INSERT THE CARD, PLEASE REBOOT

Should I still install: download blastoff v2.5?
Thank you again for ALL your help.. You guys saved my phone..
