List of issues of O3D - LG Optimus 3D

Yesterday I was listening to music on O3D after a long time as I mostly use my Nokia N900 for music playback. Anyway I found the sound to skip every few seconds making it painful to listen. I suddenly remembered this that it was like that when i was testing my new O3D back in nov 2011 and I sort of ignored it since I ddin't want to feel that my new $700+ was incapable of doing even a 50$ phone can do easily.
Anyway there might be ways to fix it but i havn't searched in the forums yet. My post is to just list of issues i have faced with o3d. And big FU to LG and will never buy or recommend another LG to anyone.
1. Ghost call - We all know what this is. After GB upgrade majority of people have calls not being registered on their phones while the caller is hearing ringing on their end
2. Stuttering Music - explained above - SOLUTION: Can be fixed by changing SD Cach to 128kb.
3. Sucky battery - On most non custom roms and standard froyo
4. Random reboots - On froyo as well as GB
5. Battery stats not working on Gingerbread
6. Poor quality of photos (seems software problem)
7. Wifi button gets blocked sometimes -> can only get unlocked rebooting (even on 21D) - To explain further, if at anytime you see your wifi button greyed out and phone getting hot check the phone using cpu usage program and you'll see a process called ti_qwlan or something using 48% of the cpu constantly and your phone battery will die within a short time depending on the charge status. From full charge to less than 10mins is about an hour if not too much overclocked.
8. Phone freezes and screen doesn't come on unless restarted.
9. Phone freezes if you are using it and someone calls, you can't answer screen goes blank.
10. Clock freezes as someone mentioned, what i had was it reverts to some weird time and I have to uncheck/check the operator provided time option to get the correct time back.
11. Multi-touch fails sometimes
If anyone else has found other issues pls do share.

Accidentally clicked thanks, but whatever.
For stuttering music, it's a documented problem and can be fixed. It has to do with the read_ahead_kb setting, apparently setting it to 128 solves the issue or vastly reduces the number of occurrences. Putting your music in the internal sdcard also reduces the occurrences.

I love my O3D but i never get those music stuff ups, are you on stock rom? But i agree the battery sucks so i bought a 3500mhz one of ebay and a 2200mhz aswell since the 3500 needs a weird looking back cover but good for long trips

I find that when using the 3D button whilst using the camera, especially when taking 3D pictures, the phone just randomly reboots. (V21a gingerbread)

Oh yes i forgot to put the battery status
For your issue on 7 yes, i've had that problem as well in one of the roms or kernel combo. Not only the wifi gets greyed out, you lose your battery in matter of minutes depending on the battery charge remaining. That has to do with cpu being utilized 100%. When i had that issue, i checked cpuusage app and showed some ti_wlan process taking 48% of the cpu constantly and only reboot would fix it.
But now it's not happening maybe due to some program i uninstalled or new kernel etc but it's my luck i guess.

I have 16gb class 10 card installed and my music is about 3gb so i can't afford to put in internal card which has tons of programs/games already and i have just 2.9 gb on it.
I'll search more on that settings or any other program i can use which can make listening to music easier on ears LOL.

Read this to find some workarounds: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1527424
Currently I'm with PowerAmp with the values I suggested at that thread and works very well.
Additionally, you can flash ROM v2.7.1 by Thiaiz -> he has set SD Cache Size to 128KB by default, which can help you.

you should add
wireless settings die and this causes a massive usage of the battery
sometimes the phone freezes and won't respond anymore
clock freezes and forces you to reboot the phone
random shut downs which make your phone to not respond but the processor keeps running killing your battery
so far I've seen those issues
edit: to the guy above, I think you two have stalkers xD never seen that issue on my phone

Possible Bluetooth Fix G2x - Works so far

Okay.. I know. This is my first post, but don't use that to determine the validity of the information.
I've been on here for months, just didn't have anything useful to contribute until now.
Switched from rooted Gingerbread MT3G to G2x - was pretty excited till the bluetooth issues set in.
Didn't have the random reboots like everyone else. I think that happened once in my pocket... not thing to write home about there. This damn bluetooth was killing me though. Like a bad toothache badly in need of a root canal. Every time I picked up the phone I was reminded how beautiful but flawed this is.
So my search began. Poured over LG forums, T-Mobile and Google searches, compiling information. It became clear that this didn't seem like a hardware issue. The crappy Andriod 2.2 shipped with the phone was the issue. To me it seemed like this wasn't fully tested before shipping. Has sold tens of thousands of these phones and were largely unaware of the issue - the techs were surprised when the reports came in - mainly from US based customers on T-Mobile. In my quest I stumbled across an app that reported to fix a similar issue on a few other phones and gave it a shot, and it worked. So real simple here you go:
1. Root your phone, if you haven't already done so. I did with a heavy heart. Was waiting to do so but this issue was driving me nuts.. I used these scripts to Mac and Linux (I'm a unix guy):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1048309
2. Download, from the market, and run, the following app:
>>>> Bluetooth Fix Repair <<<<
That's it!!
Here's what I did to test:
a. Left headset on, power cycled phone
b. Left phone on, power cycled headset
c. Out of range disconnect on head set, then moved back in range - successfully placed call.
d. Received call from a fresh connect, force range disconnect, then reconnect - successfully received call.
e. Disconnected headset from phone menu, then reconnected, placed call successfully.
f. Left headset and phone on for hours, multiple disconnect/reconnect - successfully placed calls.
I'm using a Blueant Q1, with the Blueant app from the market - BTW.
All seems to be well so far.. Give it a shot
fix the a2dp on gb and i'll give you your first donation.
What were the issues you had? My bluetooth seems to work fine, except the volume seems low and of course it helps to drain the already short battery life -- sorry, don't mean to be adding another battery rant!

My battery life is fine. Lasts the whole day and then some. Check the running apps and kill the unnecessary tmobile apps and anything else that you don't need. Another way to save battery is to drop the data rate down to 2G. Settings --> Wireless & Networks ---> Mobile Nets --> Use 2G. I know, defeats purpose of having 4g, but it works fine for email and IM.
Bluetooth issue:
Bluetooth disconnects and doesn't reconnect. Only way to resolve is to power cycle phone. Sometimes it would indicate that it was connected where it wasn't. Multiple folks have the same issue. Doesn't seem to matter whether it's a headset or car bluetooth.. same issue.

Wish I had the time to get into the ROMs. Don't know how you guys do it..
Returned the original G2x today and got another. Well, bluetooth is jacked on this one also. You know, I shouldn't have to be messing with this damn thing I paid $300 for. It should work.. The right thing for T-Mobile to do is recall the G2x and replace it the new dual core nexus for affected users. This phone is a piece of shyte.
The BT fix was short lived My bluetooth must have disconnected half a dozen times today. Very frustrating.

I have a Blueant Q2 that collects dust because it is useless trying reconnect it every time it disconnects (far too often) while I'm driving, what's the point? Bluetooth is a fail on the G2X.
So the damn bt issue is still not resolved.

ICS fixes the BT issue... but how? And can it be done for previous versions too?
I have tried the ICS CM9 and it seems to fix this BT issue. Not sure how it happens. Can one of the developers comment and maybe implement the fix in their ROM as well?

It works in the SK ICS builds.
I know it is an old thread but would like to share my experience here.
My only desire was to have the bluetooth not disconnect without announcing the disconnect. I saw this issue in GB 2.3.3 and below and saw it fixed on 2.3.4 and above, only to see another issue (no mute via bluetooth) crop up.
I have, however, by sheer luck and burning hours at it managed to fix it for 2.3.3. Haven't tried to see if it fixes the mute problem yet. I am satisfied with Weapon G2x 3.0 R1 .
Here is the link to my post. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1590523. Note that you will loose everything in the internal SD card so be prepared. It seems that the disconnect problem has its root in another partition (other than /data, /system and /cache). I have been problem free for almost 3 weeks now.
Will try with 2.3.4 and above later to see if the mute issue gets fixed too .
Try at your own risk and post results as you find. The reference thread in the post can be used to create an out of the box G2x with T-Mobile ROM so no chance of bricking (I believe this phone is unbrickable ).

All these new roms are amzing however, Hellfire Sandwitch and Pheonix both have this damn Bluetooth issue. I go to make a call and no sound comes to the bluetooth except some static and then it goes away. I hear nothing. I switch to speaker phone and I hear the dialtone on that. What the heck is going on with the bluetooth on these roms? Both ICS and GB share the same problem. I'm using that fix posted on the forums that makes any rom work with the new march 2012 BB update.

No haven't done that. Not sure how you mess with the irl. I know it has something to do with baseband. But I don't think it has anything to do with Bluetooth?

No root issues though, lol
Only have 2 issues which have already been mentioned in the Community Forums.
1. Install or move a program to your SDCard, icon stays on phone, but phone thinks program has been uninstalled ! (This apparently was the same problem the original Atrix 4G also has)
2. 8GB internal memory, only 4GB shown.. install anything on your phone filling 500MB, and your phone will come back stating there in no room left !
To me, these are 2 HUGE issues they need to resolve quickly.

No.. internal. Look at full specs on PhoneArena and GSMArena.
Built-In Storage : 8192MB
Correct me if I'm wrong .. thats 8GB .. not 4GB.
Attached are 2 screenshots .. one from PhoneArena, other from GSMArena.
I have issues with bluetooth when connected to my car stereo. Most of the time, occasionally it works just fine, when listening to anything by bluetooth in my car I get drop outs in the audio that last any where between .5 seconds and 3 seconds. They sometimes happen in a pattern of a long drop followed by a short drop withing .5 seconds. It does not seem to effect phone calls but that leads to another problem.
While listening to an internet radio station and a call came in while in the car the radio (iheartradio) kept playing after I answered the call from the car stereo touch screen. I had to kill the radio app in order to keep the audio out of the call. The other side told me they heard my radio over the phone.
Random reboot
Random reboots while listening to any audio app (dogcatcher, Pandora, stock music player). I am using wired headphones and the phone will just randomly reboot. Very annoying
Interesting, any certain amount of time before it reboots? I use xiialive lite with zero cut outs or reboots. Been rocking it for awhile, are you streaming and recording at the same time?

Those are the last two places I'd expect spot on info from.
Looking at the official Motorola website under the specs for this phone, it does list 8gb as the internal storage capacity.....but it also has a footnote that states:
Available user memory varies due to the configuration of the phone, which varies by service provider.

So I decided to check AT&T's website and found that it says "up to 8gb"
So based on the above listed information on the two websites that really matter, it's safe to assume that the reason it's not showing 8gb in available internal storage is due to AT&T's configuration.
I saw that also.. but the fact is.. we can't use it. If you go to "Settings" "Storage" .. look under Application Storage. Mine states 4.13GB .. now here is the bug .. install 500MB of stuff (anything) .. once you reach 500.. watch your phone state you're out if memory !!!!
You can't move your apps to the SDCard, because, if you have to reboot your phone .. it will keep the icon on your screen/listing .. but the phone will come back with an error stating it was uninstalled .. yet all you did was move it from Phone to SDCard.
Those are 2 major bugs that they really need to resolve .. yet the funny thing is, the original Motorola Atrix 4G had the same bugs.. you'd think they would have learned from there first mistake.

I read that somewhere and it worked for now atleast. I think since DST moved the time... this might have caused the issue. But can't say for sure. Purely dumb guess and error.

I understand and know that, but that wasnt the issue I was addressing. It was your claim that the phone is only reporting half of available internal storage, just 4 gb of 8gb, which simply isnt true. But you can bring up other unrelated issues and ignore that if you want, lol.

I'm pretty sure it's 6gb internal memory + 2gb on the included micro sd card. Of that 6gb, 1+gb is being used by the OS and pre-loaded apps. The phone seems to load everything that's downloaded onto the 2gb sd card, so it will fill up pretty quick.

When you installing a program and the phone alert that "there is on room left", then you can re-install this program again, then it will be successful.

Atrix 1 vs Atrix 2
Can't really complain but I found this funny...
I have both Atrix 1 and 2, Atrix 1 has the CM7 rom and scores 6000+ using AnTuTu Benchmark, Atrix 2 is obviously stock and only scores around 4000 using the same benchmark.
I will try to wait patiently for movement in the rom arena. It's hard, I'm a flash junkie.

Since I updated my Nexus S (i9020a to be exact) to ICS 4.0.4, my phone has been randomly rebooting like everyday! I did manually update it but I got stock Android and also I am unrooted not have my bootloader unlocked. Why is this happening so frequently? Should I factory reset my phone?

I also had a spontaneous reboot a couple of days after I updated to 4.0.4.
It's only been four days total, so I'll be keeping an eye on it.

maybe you should wipe your cache and dalvik-cache... and don't forget to fix permissions...

The thing is I'm not rooted and it seems that factory resetting actually did a job cuz no reboot so far... I'll update forum if this method works...

Personally I've had several occurences of random reboots and actually at the phone lock into a reboot loop till I pulled the battery.
I think the issue is RAM management. The Nexus S doesn't have as much RAM as most tablets and it's younger sister the Galaxy Nexus. Something in how the OS decides which of the background services should be terminated and cached under heavy RAM load seems to be part of the problem.
For example, I seem to have improved my phone stability by removing apps that update in the background and don't need to (UAL, I'm looking at you ) and disabling background updates in other applications (TripIt, PodKicker Pro, etc) to prevent them from leaving background services running. That seems to have helped in my case.

wipe data may solve this issue.
I have been running Pete's Bugless Beast which has both the ROM and Kernel updated to 4.0.4. Never had a random reboot.
I doubt it is a memory issue. When my phone doesn't have a foreground app open it usually has 130 MB ~ 150 MB free. I never see it go below 100 MB.

Exactly when is it powercycling?
Is it when running a certain app? When plugged in? When on standby? When you set it down or bump it?
There a number of different reasons the phone could be powercycling.
If it's while running a certain app or completely at random while you're not using it, unprevoked, first try hard resetting it. That will resolve the majority of issues.
If it's when you set it down or it's bumped, it's an issue with the battery making contact. Remove your battery, clean the contacts gently with a pencil eraser, make sure the contacts are clean and free from pocket lint on the phone itself and reinsert the battery.
If it's still doing it after a reset, it could be your processor. The best way I've found to test your processor is to max it out. You can do this by running a benchmark app over and over while everything on your phone is running. I personally use "Neocore" (available in the Play Store). Turn on your bluetooth, wifi, max your screen brightness, gps, every battery sucking processor running setting available. Run Neocore as 'Interactive Mode'. If you run that for an hour without powercycling, your processor is good. If it powercycles, you have a bad processor and should have your phone replaced through Samsung warranty.
Best of luck to you!
Random reboot
My phone is rebooting at least 15 times a day !
It is very random : during a phone call/installing an app/unlock the phone/writing with keyboard/phone is idle...
Applications are also often not responding...
I did a factory reset/wipe data several times but it didnt change anything.
Phone :Nexus S i9023
Carrier : unlocked ( HK )
OS/build number : Android 4.04/IMM76D
A really big amount of people posted the same issue on google mobile forum. ( i can't post link yet as it is my first post ) title "Random reboot of nexus with Android 4" ( please google it ) , but nobody mentionned anything with CPU. Could it be really that many people having a default CPU ?
After my last post, no reboots for while but now reboots are back with increasing frequency.
Sent from my Nexus S using xda premium
I don't usually like resurrect a really old thread, but after a road trip where my Nexus S randomly rebooted 4-5 times while running Podkicker Pro and Maps Navigation I went and reset my device to factory defaults. The next day I had the phone reboot in the middle of a podcast. Today it rebooted halfway through the first ring when I received a call.
Seems to be, at least in my case, that the reboots are related to mp3 audio.
This lead me to find this bug logged against the galaxy nexus: http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=22669
It doesn't provide an answer, but it does provide some insight. I think personally I might look at different ringtone formats and see if converting my custom ringtone to something other than MP3 will help, but I'm not optimistic.

[Q] Problem with Samsung phone performance

Been contemplating for a while whether to post this as it will come off as rather trollish. Had my Infuse for over a year now. When I first got it I noticed there were some "issues". I remained patient hoping or thinking maybe when GB was released it would improve. It did not. Later I needed to root this phone and came here, found a ROM that had all the AT&T junk stripped out. Phone worked better, but still had these issues.
I got to the point that I knew I would never again purchase either a Samsung phone or Android. Did not know what the culprit was. Just recently I had the chance to really take a look at an HTC EVO, and I realized that Samsung is the problem, not Android.
Number one issue is that this phone is sluggish, and sometimes unresponsive. I will touch whatever button and get that vibrating acknowledgement, but nothing happens. I will be in the app menu and wish to exist and the home button just does not respond.
Yesterday I missed a call because the bloody phone just did not respond, even though I touched the answer button. Other times I just can not make a call. I dial number, and the phone just sits there doing nothing. Eventually I just pull out the battery and restart the phone to make a simple bloody call. I had a HTC WinMo phone for years and never once experienced this. No matter how farked the OS could get with some app or whatever, the phone function always worked.
I do not run a lot of apps, and recently have experienced these issues with almost literally no apps installed. I will then add something like GO taskmanger just to confirm that the unresponsive behavior is not due to some app taking up memory/CPU etc..
Sorry for the long post, but I am at my wits end with this bloody phone. The fact that I miss calls when the **** phone is right in my hand is unacceptable. So before placing this phone in a box filled with C4 and shooting this to the moon, hoping that maybe a solution is out there.
p.s. I have 2 Infuse in use, both have the same issue.
What firmware are you running?
Is it the same firmware on both phones?
What is the launcher?
Have you tried a different modem?
Are you using a battery saver like juice defender?
Are you using an ad blocker?
Are you using a specific kernel? Oc? Uv?
Need for specific info

You know, for the rather lengthy post, you really have not explained any detail about your issue.. You have a generic 'I have an issue, the Infuse sucks' post and its not going to help anyone resolve your issue. I find it EXTREMELY hard to believe that you have 2 infuses having the SAME EXACT ISSUE. Yes, there will be times when you get a defective phone or it isnt working up to your standards, but to have 2 defective phones with the same defect? You need to play the lottery. Also, i suggest you send the phones back. It sounds like youve already made your mind up and have pretty much bashed the samsung infuse in that entire post. The same samsung infuse that myself, and plenty of other people live with day to day and have absolutely 0 complaints.
I will give you $20.00 a piece for them!!!!

Simple . Hack it and put cm7 on it if you really need speed. Maybe its your screen protecter. Wipe the screen off. Cm9 can be sluggish, for speed go to miui on gingerbread or cm7
Id be willing to buy one of the infuses
Trust me...sounds like you got two defective units...which like Scott, I find hard to believe...but hey its possible-idk when you got hem.but if it hasn't been a year then put them back to stock with gtgs unbrick and file a warranty claim with Samsung...the infuse is a great phone and I never had the problem you described...I do have a question though...did you get them both at the same time? Cause I don't see why you would get a second if your first was having problems
Anyways...if you wanna sell one hmu...I may buy one depending on the price and if I can get the money (I think I already may have one lined up for $170 just need to get the money)

Again this has been a recurring problem since purchase, and during this time I have had stock Froyo, rooted Froyo ROM, GB update, and for one now a the GB rooted ROM.
When the slow to unresponsiveness occurs there does not appear to be any specific cause. Prior to updating to the rooted GB I had used GO Taskmanager, and long before that some other app I long since forgot the name of. Point was that they had shown that neither CPU was excessive, or memory was used up. Both phones have data services disabled and are strictly Wifi only. There are no tasks or extra programs run in the background (though did install Connectbot today). I no longer use any Live wallpaper. After updating to the rooted GB I left the phone in that state (no software installed) for a week or so, and the problem still occured.
This occurs when calling or answering calls, but as previously posted occurs sometimes just opening the Applications menu as an example. So it is not a specific task or program that is slow or unresponsive. Earlier this evening I got a call, slide the bar across to answer and the screen just hung there for a few moments. This time it was at least not long enough that I missed the call. When the call was done I looked and there simply was nothing running on the phone. No apps, no web browser or mail, in fact I was not even connected to the wifi (I have data 3G/4G service disabled on the phone).
are you completely wiping before every flash youve done? have you tried a complete wipe and start from fresh?

Task manager is NOT the best app to tell you what is running in the background.
Maps and other location apps may not be listed but will consume resourse that can be the cause of your lag.
The fact that stopping wallpaper or live wall paper off alleviate the condition may suggest that the phone is running at max capacity. Steps to reduce the load improves it. Live wp, facebook, maps, stock email and other device manager from stock att was one of the first @#$% I took out on any rom I run.
Having a large amount of apps installed can also cause this lag. The OS may only be able to handle so many.
Have a poor signal at the time of the call may also be an issue, especially if both of your phones have this issue occasionally but not consistently.
Lock screen can also be a factor. Some sleep setting may also cause the phone to wake up poorly. I get around this by turning off my lock screen. On the call settings, you can also change the answering options so that it will override others and make it easy to answer.
On any firmware - stock or modded, after you have the phone running for an extended period of time without a reboot, you may start to see some lags. This may be across all devices. You may need to reboot it occasionally or boot into recovery and wipe the cache.
These issues may or not go away once you have a device with more power or resources..ex: dual or quad core, 1gb or 2gb ram etc..my guess is when a device has more power, programmers will come up with more resourse intensive apps that may hinder the phone as well.
Lastly, pay attention to your battery meter. As the power dips below 30%, there are steps taken by the OS to conserve the battery. This may give you lags as well..possibly one of the reason why it seems random also.
If you wanted to test out the lag issue due to background apps, go to settings/account and sync. turn off background data. You will retain the (radio) phone and text but there will be no email/facebook, weather, widgets/market/amazon etc updates unless you manually update them. If this runs smoothly but lags when you turn it back on, you can start the process of narrowing down your culprit.

Issues with Galaxy S Blaze 4G (Help!)

Hey guys,
It has only been three months since I purchased the Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G, and I currently have a few issues that really are bugging me out. I will bullet them out to make it clean and easier for you guys to read and figure out.
ALSO -- My phone is rooted, rocking a custom rom (AOKP JB Blaze 4G: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1989825)
1. Every time I take a screenshot, picture, download something, or just about any piece of data, my phone for some reason saves it all to my internal storage device, which is barely 1 GB. I have a 32GB MicroSD card, and bought the SD card with the intention that I can save all my data to that, never having to worry about my 1GB internal storage getting full. Is there any way to fix this? My phone is rooted, rocking a custom ROM, and I really don't see how this can be an issue. Can someone help me to fix this issue? I am a real noob when it comes to stuff like this, so I would appreciate detailed instructions!
2. My phone currently has an issue where every time I get a notification, the 4 LED touch-buttons on the bottom of the phone start blinking. I prefer it to not blink at all (as I would instead like to save precious battery life).
3. Even though its only been three months (less than a month with the new ROM) I noticed that the battery life is not too amazing, it drains out REALLY fast for some reason. All I really do on my phone is web browsing and visiting a social media app (facebook, twitter, etc...) and that's really it. Is there a way to possibly fix this as well? Could it be the ROM
4. When I drive, I often use my phone as a GPS, and what's funny is, even though the phone is plugged in (and technically charging), the battery drains out. I don't know how that is possible, as the phone is plugged in and charging through my car. Could it just be that this phone was never meant to be used as a GPS? Or is this another problem that can have a workaround to?
Anyways, that is my list, I'd really appreciate your help to solving all those issues, as I use this phone as a daily driver, and need all of the phone's functions working without problems.
Thanks!

Im new here also as of today. Im sorry your having issues with your phone and the rom. I have been doing alot of research on this phone we have as Im still stuck on Gingerbread. I just went off contract from Tmobile and recently rooted it. Getting ready to upgrade the rom.
I have read in some posts that the JB rom did have some problems with recognizing SD cards. Seems to me that I read that this was changed in a later release. I wish I could find that thread again and show you but it escapes me. Is this a stock ROM for JB that you are using?
I do have a question for you. I want to upgrade from gingerbread and thinking CM10. However, I do have to make sure speakerphone works. Any problems there?
I would guess at this point that you should try another ROM.

1:Your going to have to flip the external and internal SD card in order to fix that. I remember there being an xposed module for that.
2: pulse notifications are enabled. I haven't run 4.1 in a long time but I think it's under the display settings.

Ok, Most likely the vold.fstab file lists the mounting points for the phones filesystem. It will probably be a text file and I would suggest making a backup copy before modifying it. Otherwise you could really screw things up.
I have not viewed this file yet because I dont know of the exact location yet. I found a link but Iam a new user and not permitted to post it. Do a search for vold.fstab and you should easily find a link for editing it.
Basically, Your going to edit the fstab file and change the settings for mounting the sdcard. I would think a reboot of your phone will probably be the last step.
Hope this helps, From one learning to another

Is there any sort solution to this that is newb-friendly (step by step), would be awesome to use my external SD card for its full use.

In the previous page wollieburger posted a link to edit the correct files. A really good guide (one post) on how to do it.

When I am changing the input from 0 to 1, the file is unable to save.
EDIT: It works now! Thanks for the post, and apologize again for being so late on this!
Sorry for the multipost, but I was wondering if someone can still help me out with my other stuff I am trying to figure out:

You should be able to disable the flashing LEDs (also known as pulse notifications) through the display settings.
I'm not certain if there were device settings in the 4.1 era.
Battery life on 4.1 was garbage. I could only imagine the GPS drain.
4.3 had the best.

The GPS navigation on the blaze takes a lot of battery. If you have the phone plugged in the battery won't drain as fast as compared to not having it plugged in.

To be honest, I never had a battery life problem on 4.1.2, one reason is I didn't use Google Apps (I had gapps package installed, but the minimal package), I also followed this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2357417
If you like push notifications from Gmail and other Google dependent apps, ignore that thread. Otherwise, it will improve your battery life. The other reason was I never ran cm10. I ran @thomas.raines ParanoidAndroid 4.1.2. Imo, the best cm10 based rom the Blaze had. But that's MY opinion. He's taken down the link, maybe you can try and chase him down and see if he'll re-upload it for you...
