If its true then its over the top
Max screen size should be around 4" and clock shouldn't be more than 1.6 :/
And 1080p on a phone? Why would you need to watch full HD on a 4.6-4.7" screen?

Your Probably Right but i'am sure they'll think up something that'll surprise us

And battery life of 2 hours ? No thanks. They should come up with new battery tech instead of 876787core phones.

There was some rumors for at least 2250mAh. I hope it's true....

I'd argue you don't even need 720p on that small of a screen. But that's not the point anymore. It's a spec battle now. Who can cram the best tech into the smallest device. That way they can brag about it in the commercial and sell more phones.

Exynos 5 series SOC also highly possible
the galaxy s3 most stable rumoured specifications can be found on gsmarena.com

Agreed.
Although it would be wicked-rad if Samsung brought back 5:4 screens.
I can't believe how fast CPU technology in cellphones is changing. Quad Core ? Insane.
That's just rumor's and 4chan isn't credible at all...
2GHz Quad-Core? No way.
And 4,65" Display? Too big, 4,3" should be the biggest display a smartphone should have.
That's why the Samsung Galaxy Note will be fail, it's just too big for a mobilephone and too small for a tablet.
And yes, it's just a stupid rumor, so nothing of these things will be in a phone the next time. Quad Core maybe 2012, but not this year.
Android's gonna eat up a whole apple again
quad-cores will be released as S3 end of 2012- 1st part of 2013
Even with a thread that has nothing to do with Apple, xda members still manage to bring up apple into the thread
Quad cores will be released this year for tablets. Smart phones will be early 2012.

oddly enough, eldar murtazin's tweet says the specs are real. Not sure what to make of it but he did describe a nexus like device way back when galaxy s2 was released and he's been pretty accurate on rumors including nokia/MS partnership
Quad Cores will not fly well with phone sizes batteries
on Tablets Quad Cores are do-able because they can get away with the weight and larger battery packs
but on a phone, it's wasted, as the battery will drain out in a matter of minutes
you wont get more than 4 hours of straight usage, on a phone
example when playing HD 3D games, that sucks the juice out of phones in no time

I think that the die shrink will help with the battery requirements. A 4core 28nm die SoC will have less energy requirements than the current 45nm SoC.

[Q] Which Phone to buy ?

I have used my not so powerful but beloved x8 for some time now,, its time to get a high end smartphone , but i am pretty confused on which one to buy?
I am currently considering Samsung galaxy s2, Samsung galaxy Nexus, Htc Sensation XE, Xperia Arc s(if only it had dual core!), Motorola Droid Razr ,, So which one do you guys prefer and why? and are there any other phone that i should consider?
Don't go for the razr.
I would not go for the Razr since the battery is pretty poor and not replaceable, although the Rarz maxx gives you plenty of juice.
I would prefer the GNex since it is the most advanced phone out there. Also it gives you a long period of rom-updates since its an development phone.
My second choice will be the SGS2, here in the Nederlands is has gone true an small price-drop since the GNex is in stores. so this option is more attractive now.

wht i dont understand is that why would you say the razr's battery life is not good, according to almost all the test it came over galaxy nexus, actually galaxy nexus has the least battery life amongst all the phones i mentioned because of its high res screen. but the galaxy nexus's battery can be replaced so i guess that seems to be the best phone soo far
I would take the galaxy nexus too because you get all updates at first
Or you wait for the sony xperia s it will have a 1.5 ghz dual core processor it will come in march
phone
mytouch 4g
I would choose GS2 over Nexus. I am myself a GS2 user and played with galaxy nexus for some time. The very big difference between these two at first is the weight and user interface. Although it's possible to port ICS to galaxy S2 and yet it's very unstable compared to nexus. But on longer term, why GS2 over Nexus? I am an accessories lover and I like to have a cool unique looking phone. In my experience there still aren't a lot of cool accessories available for Nexus S. It's a new phone and the question is will there good looking accessories in the future. In my opinion, no there won't be. Like the previous model Nexus, the hype stays with the latest software, but no hype in expanding the use of it's phone in way of dressing the phone.
Little summary: GS2--> a lot of cases and accessories available. Gnex---> ICS
But hey, who knows maybe samsung comes with GS3 soon!!(expected in May)

The amaze is downright heavy bro
As a happy G2 owner i would say go for it. But the Nexus is pretty nice too. I was in love with the Razr until I saw it in store.
I would go with the SGS2 great phone with a huge dev community so lots of roms and lots of support. It's gonna be my next phone, unless htc really does come out with this quad core phone they keep leaking info on.
Try the Samsung Galaxy Note. Its the best of both worlds which is a smartphone and a tablet combine into 2. The 5.3 inch screen makes reading easier. Dual core at 1.4 GHz and can be easily rooted.
Buy SGS2. Great phone, having G9000 before, it was very goo, but has some performance issues. G9100 has solved it,working like charm, have Android 4.0.3 installed.

The RAZR has a 680 mAh battery where the Nexus has a 1850 mah.
Better battery.
It really all depends on how you use it though.

thats some major wrong information you got there bro ,, the razr has a Li-Ion 1780 mAh battery and the galaxy s2 has a Li-Ion 1650 mAh battery,, and the nexus has Li-Ion 1750 mAh battery,, according to some global battery tests Galaxy s2 has the best battery life even with 1650 due to its lower pixel density compared to the razr and nexus,, the motorola droid razr comes in second and the nexus has the worst battery life of the lot,,(due to its massive screen and high pixel density), get you facts right bro, before you give information like that, and with 680 mah a dual core smart phone would not last half a day !!
I have a SGSII and I can recommend it. In the end for me it's about the hardware and the screen.
On the downside the battery is not great but it seems that all smartphones suffer from this.

The raze has almost the same specs and a higher pixel density super amoled screen, so would that be a better choice than the gs2?
I recommend the Galaxy Nexus. I mean what could be better than enjoying the pure Google experience? The GNexus has an awesome display and has the newest rom available from Android. You will be getting updates on this phone for a long time, and it will be up to par with other phones even when out of the 2 year contract. The Galaxy Nexus is the way to go.

Galaxy s3

Anyone got any pictures or official specs
I think that nothing official has been released yet but I'm looking forward to this phone, got the SGS 1 myself
As previously stated I much doubt anything official is released; merely speculations. Bet there are countless blogs speculating, "leaking" or such where you can get your information.
I just hope they don't go over in screen size. 4.3 is perfect to me with a 720p resolution. After seeing a Gnex it looks crisp as hell probably the first screen that I've seen that looks better than an iPhone screen.
Nothing is official.....
Waiting for samsung's official poster!

720p resolution on a 4.3" screen would make everything ridiculously small. If the SGS III goes that route, I'll stick with my Galaxy S II.

Nice WOrk..................
yeah yeas i wait soon
cant wait for this phone i still got my sg1 and i love it and dont wanna upgrade to a sg2
One thing is sure..
The Galaxy SIII must match or exceed Sony Xperia S:
4.3-inch HD display
12 megapixel camera with Exmor R sensor
1.5 GHz dual-core processor
DLNA connectivity for content sharing
32 GB internal storage
PlayStation Certified
Probably the 1st Android phone
with 12 megapixel camera.
Search Google, 1st result:
Xperia S from Sony: Let Us Put You In The Picture
ff
and about screen? it become silicone?-
The galaxy s3 will probably come with a quadcore, if they want to beat the HTC endaevor... Maybe there will be a Galaxy S2 + /v.2
Nothing yet confirmed by Samsung.
Rumors say that it will have 4.6inch HD screen - Super AMOLED plus
12 megapixel camera
Dual or quad core processor
Could be released in similar or the same case as Galaxy S2 but buttons could be replaced with buttons on the screen just like Galaxy Nexus has.

the galaxy s3 will come soon, just wait. hope it can bring us more surprise. hehe

NICE ....................^_^
In Engadget people are presuming that the new model has surfaced somewhere surfing a web server, but it told that it would be a little lower resolution than Galaxy Nexus (<1280x720)
That's okay, it also gives me hope that it would be smaller than Galaxy Nexus which is slightly too massive. Presumed 1024x700 in a 4,3" screen would be very well balanced, I'd say and the body as small as possible..
I think it will be waterproof (ZAGG), 2GB ram and quad-core.

Note II or SIII? :D

rumored specs for the note II are
quadcore a15 CPU clocked at 1.8ghz
mali600 gpu 60% faster than the one in the s3
a 16mp camera
touchwiz nature UX
5.5 inch 1080p HD samoled + screen
3900mah battery
2.5gb ram
smaller than the note but bigger than the s3
if these specs are real this over takes the ipad 3
so my question is do we wait? of do we get the s3 now

Knowing how Samsung like to take there sweet time releasing anything who knows what the note 2 will be but I think some these specs are a little OTT, and its the age old thing, if you wait for the note II then the S4 will be just round the corer and you just end up in a never ending 'waiting' game for the 'perfect' device, if I was you just go for the G3 (or the Note 1, i love mine)
If there is a possibility that we take birite do not think, in extreme cases can be sold.

Why are there no high end 4" android phones? Does everyone think bigger is better?

Why are there no high end 4" android phones? Does everyone think bigger is better?
This article raised a very good question I've been wondering for a while now too:
http://www.zdnet.com/dear-android-manufacturers-please-sell-me-the-phone-that-i-want-7000006437/
There are plenty of android phones to choose from. But every North American manufacturer's flagship phones are 4.6+ inches and they just seem to be getting bigger! I don't want a bigger phone...but I want flagship hardware. How many >4.5 inch android phones have top tier hardware (quadcore, HD screen, top end GPU). ZERO.:crying:
The one thing I think Apple has right is the size of the iPhone 5. It fits very comfortably in your hand. I can fit the Galaxy Nexus in one hand, but I cannot reach all areas of the screen with my thumb if I have 4 fingers gripping the side of the phone. I can stretch if I put my pinky on the bottom and only 3 on the side, but if I add a case to the mix then it becomes uncomfortable again.
Now I admit I have smaller hands, but I'm sure others have this issue as well. I just was shocked to read through the comments on the story to see how many people avidly almost "attacked" the author for his opinion. Thinking it was ridiculous to expect options like this. And that people with smaller hands should just be content with outdated hardware on smaller phones.
Anyone else who wish the sizes would go back down? Or at least have options of smaller models with the same high end hardware? Was really hoping for a 4-4.3" Nexus 4...but I know that's not going to happen Oh well...here's to hoping it might happen with the Nexus 5...
I think it has to do with utility anymore. Screen size is pretty much a deciding factor for most because of what they can do or what they feel they need with their device. I agree with you on size but do not think one handing your phone shouldn't be a factor.
However, 4" is a nice juicy screen size for anyone. But then again there is the utility thing to think about. Who really uses a smart phone just to make calls or view an email/text anymore?

Screens are huge because we demand high definition screens. 720x1280 doesn't come cheap in a 4inch screen. Also leaves more room for battery and the extra lte antenna.
The new Galaxy S3 Mini just came out! It has the SPECS of a flagship devices, but has a 4" screen!
I prefer big displays mainly because tiny onscreen keyboards are hard to use.

Take a look at the specs of the Chinese phone listed in the article...
"720p 4.3-inch screen with a Retina-display-busting pixel density of 342ppi. Quad-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon processor, 2GB of RAM, Jelly Bean and up to 32GB of storage. No microSD, sadly, and of course there may be support and warranty issues, but this ideally-sized powerhouse will retail at less than £250."
So It can be done. And on the affordable side even (~$400). My question is why is there no equivalent of this in the North American market?

I didn't think about the buttons. I guess I couldn't really say unless I held it in my hands, but it seems noticeably smaller on paper:
Xiaomi MI-2 Dimensions:
126 x 62 x 10.2 mm (4.96 x 2.44 x 0.40 in)
VS
Samsung Galaxy Nexus I9250 Dimensions:
135.5 x 67.9 x 8.9 mm (5.33 x 2.67 x 0.35 in)
Not a HUGE difference...again, I'd prefer a 4" phone where the difference would be more noticeable. But if these specs can be squeezed into 4.3" on the cheap from a no name brand, my point is it's definitely possible to do 4" from a big name brand manufacturer.

It is a common idea in North America that "bigger is better," as well as "more is better." Just check out the average BMI in the US... kinda high up there.... and it ain't muscle mass.... check out Texas as an example.
I too was very concerned with my future phone before I upgraded to the Gnex. I had a 4.3" Droid Charge. I thought that anything over 4.5" was pushing my limits, but I slowly became very comfortable with the current Gnex size. However, I still do not want anything larger than 4.65"... so I'm hoping the future Nexus phones after the Nexus 4 don't get any bigger.
Side note: w00t SF Giants FTW!!!!!
I think the current nexus screen size is perfect imo
maybe the nexus 3 will grant your wish?
I guess your the odd one out that manufacturers don't care about

No microSD, sadly, and of course there may be support and warranty issues, but this ideally-sized powerhouse will retail at less than £250."
So It can be done. And on the affordable side even (~$400). My question is why is there no equivalent of this in the North American market?

The Chinese manufactured phones (xaomi etc) are produced in small amounts and are only cheap because of excess chip production. They're really hard to find in any market.
The Droid Incredible LTE is a great phone. The Snapdragon S4 is no slouch and the screen is rather beautiful. If you're expecting a 720p screen on a 4 inch device...please...come down to earth with the rest of us. The only way you're getting that is if you buy an iPhone or somehow get your hands on one of the Chinese phones.

iphone 5 is not a 720p display... close but not a true 720p

A 4" top tier device now would probably be way more costly to manufacture than the usual 4.5"+ screen size device. And there will probably be very very few quad cores, if any in a device that small. Battery and all the other top tier accoutrements just won't be feasible. You will have to settle for a sacrifice somewhere. Last years top end specs in 4" form factor is probably best you can expect for a year or two.
Off topic but I wish Samsung took a chance on the galaxy premier and made it just like the nexus instead of Samsung's typical hardware button accompanied by two capacitive buttons. Better GPU and CPU. And add stock android. Samsung is probably too scared to lose any marketshare by alienating a device. What is wrong with taking small chances on a mid end device? All the people skipping the lg nexus 4 would probably take a serious at the i9260 if it had Google's now standard software navigation, with upgraded specs aaaaaaand a SD card slot. Smdh Samsung.

My point exactly though. You can't get true 720p in a 4 inch screen and if you did you'd have to use a microscope to read anything.
