Hello XDA,
I tried many ways how run "true" car mode. I modified micro usb cable (619K ohm between 4 and 5 pin), I installed many ROMs (stock or custom), I flash many versions of google car home app. But only 619K ohm resistor able to activate "true" car mode. If I say true car mode then I think for example rotating Phone.apk (call screen in landscape) and auto loud call. Unfortunately, google car home activated car mode, I see on notify bar steering wheel, but without a resistor function as rotating phone.apk not work. I do not always use cable. For long travel no problem, but I ride short tracks then I must phone often insert and remove.
I tried google car home on girlfriend`s LG optimus black. If I run it, google car home activates true car mode, with rotating phone.apk and other.
My question is. Is any solution with google car home app for my samsung galaxy s2? I use android 4.0.3 (XXLPS), rooted.
Thanks for answer and sorry for my english.

I'm trying to use Car Mode Control to artificially toggle Car Mode on my Skyrocket. It appears to work as my Car Dock Home v3 is launched, and the steering wheel icon appears in the status bar.
However, neither Locale's Locale Dock Condition plug-in, nor Tasker's dock mode feature seem to recognize this. But I've contacted the plug-in author and done plenty of web research and it all suggests it *should* be working. Thus, I wonder if it's Skyrocket-specific.
I love my Cobra Universal Mini Mount, but it doesn't activate car mode. So I'd like to launch an app to "toggle" car mode manually, and then have either Tasker or Locale do the rest (turn on blue tooth, turn off wifi, etc.).
Has anyone successfully accomplished this with a Skyrocket?
Nexus / Play Edition Devices - Keyguard => Home Button and Top of Screen Unresponsive
When I installed 5.1.1 on my Nexus 7 mounted in my car, I noticed a weird bug with Car Mode Control being activated - the home button would freeze up the screen, locking it on an all black screen, and the status bar along with another 10% from the top of the screen was unresponsive to touch. Now, I know there are issues with Nexus devices running Car Mode apps, but without reinventing the wheel (or at least having to code a ton more stuff into Tasker), it's the easiest way for me to send up accompanying things, like Car Home Ultra and activating tethering, etc.
But this is just obnoxious. I can barely get the search bar to work on Google Maps, I have to hit just the very bottom of the bar to get it to open up the recent searches and allow me to type, and most 3-dot menus cannot be hit anymore. When I got my Moto X Pure, I noticed the same thing was happening, so it wasn't A) the Nexus 7, B) Car Home Ultra, C) at one point I even considered it was Nova Launcher, but rather D) just being in Car Mode. The MXPE comes out of this state easily enough with doing a screen off and back on, but the N7 does not - I either have to disable wifi tethering which disables car mode on the N7 via a Tasker task, or restart it in some extreme cases. I have Car Home Ultra on my N7 but not my MXPE, so the suggestion that it has something to do with a bug in the home button override of Car Home Ultra doesn't hold water, unfortunately (thought of that as the culprit already too).
I think this may be a "safety feature" of Nexus / PE devices that if car mode is activated, you can touch certain things and go back home, but if I can't pull down the status bar, I can't set car mode off unless I turn off my car, which kills Bluetooth and my Tasker task to keep my phone in car mode when connected to the car's BT. NOT ideal for someone who drives 1,000+ miles per week for work and needs to check and send emails while I'm stopped waiting for my next assignment to start (insurance related career). I find it even more absurd that not only is the status bar blocked from access, but all apps just below that as well, including the search bar on Google Maps as I said already. How am I even supposed to search for the next destination without being able to access that bar easily?
===========================
TD;LR - Nexus and Play Edition devices don't like Car Mode being forced on them through apps that turn on car mode, it makes them unresponsive to certain parts of the screen and doesn't allow the home button to work, is there any way to enable car mode without having to build a Tasker task that does what car mode does for me?
===========================
EDIT - Figured it out.... I had Tasker setting Keyguard Off instead of using Secure Settings to clear password when connected to the car's Bluetooth as detailed here. I've read previously that setting the keyguard off has had adverse reactions inside Android, but I didn't connect the dots here, these are the issues that occur when you set keyguard off! So yes, using Secure Settings to clear password works much better and doesn't produce these crazy bugs.
Finding decent accessories for this tablet is hard. Especially when it comes to cases as many of them are poorly made. A few days ago I went to Best Buy and bought the 'Universal Folio' by Logitech, however, I wasn't planning on doing so. My intentions were to buy a USB keyboard designed for tablets, and they already had some in stock of what I had looked at the least time I was there. I also needed a case. So I thought, why not kill two birds with one stone and buy it. The salesman let me open and look at it. I was impressed.
Initially I was going to pass at it. The front of the box says "Fits most 9-10in tablets." (This is a Kindle 8.9 and when it comes to Amazon products vs. accessories, yes size does matter). I flipped the box and read ALL of the back. On the right side, the last supported product listed, 'Amazon Kindle Fire 8.9 (HDX included). Score!
Retail at Best Buy was $59.99, ten dollars cheaper than the USB keyboard (not a case). Open it up, insert tablet under the two bottom tabs. Push up on both corners of the clamps on both sides and insert the upper half of the tablet below the clamps, allowing them to grasp it into place. You have a fully functional QWERTY keyboard, which is confusing to setup. Pull the yellow tag out of the battery case and switch on the Folio. Looking at the top right of the keyboard, you will see the F12 key which also has a Bluetooth symbol on it. Make sure you are in the tablet's Bluetooth settings and make sure the tablet's Bluetooth is on, and the folio is turned on. Press the bluetooth symbol (F12) on the folio and also tap it on your tablet. Select your options in the pop up box and tap ok. Enter their given pin number when it's displayed. You have about 10 seconds to enter it so be quick or you'll have to try again. No box will pop up, so just type the pin quickly and hit the enter key on the folio when done.
All in all, this is a really cool accessory. I give it 4 out of 5 stars and recommend it to anyone. My favorite part: it looks like a laptop Pictures attached.

I wanted to get more out of this setup and wanted to get a mouse. Two things to know: 1) Although the tablets support USB OTG, they do not supply the port with enough power so the standard USB mouse, used with an OTG adapter, will NOT work. 2) A standard wireless mouse with the clip, also will NOT work.
So now I was left with the final option, Bluetooth. I wasn't sure if these tablets would run two Bluetooth devices at one time. I figured it was only $20 for a Bluetooth mouse, so I had nothing too much to lose. I again went to Best Website and looked for one. I got an HP Bluetooth mouse for $18.99, $20 off retail for Black Friday. Batteries were included (2 AA). Simply pull out the paper tab, turn on the Bluetooth on both devices, and select the mouse on your tablet. No pin number is required. Connection is near instant.
Since nearly everyone has rooted, TWRPed and rommed by now, you can I stall the Xposed Framework and install a module called 'Disable full screen keyboard.' this will add a toggle to a notification in the statusbar that allows you to turn off and on, the full screen keyboard "for any keyboard" allowing you the full physical keyboard experience. See attached photos below.
Disadvantages:
1) you may have trouble using this on your actual lap. The tow clips located on the bottom of the tablet, which hold the tablet in place when in the laptop format, pull up on the plastic ever so slightly when leaned back too far. This causes the connection between the battery and the folio, to become separated which causes the folio to constantly reconnect when pressing the screen too hard.
2) There's no padding between the screen and keyboard. The clips put about 1/4 inch between the screen and keyboard so make sure it's secure and the strap is pulled over properly or you'll scratch the screen big time.
3) Pressing the keys too quick or too hard will cause you to type double letters. This happens a lot for me. So if you're used to really pounding on the keys, you'll have to adjust your pressure.
4) The instructions are vague. If I hadn't figured out how to set it up on my own, it would've gone back to the store.
Issues with mouse?
I've recently been using a mouse with my tablet over Bluetooth but in most apps the "click" isn't working I have show touches on and obviously with my finger it shows up but with a mouse is does not, any chance you know a way round this? Cheers

I am running a old ROM, I've figured it out now for anyone that is interested.
Simply download the octopus app from play store and launch your desired app you want to use a mouse on through that works flawlessly. Thankyou for your time.
Pressing the outer buttons (q,p, backspace...) on my keyboard has a noticable delay to the press being recognized. Upon further testing, it seems like the touch latency is reduced along both sides of the screen.
Does anyone else have the same problem?
No, I use my phone with hdmi/usb hub a Bluetooth dongle mouse and keyboard. It works flawless with moonlight.
1. Maybe the battery of your keyboard is empty
2. you are using a dongle without power delivery or low power
3. Your keyboard is one of these christmas led lighting ones which draws 1kw :-D

I meant the stock built in "keyboard" aka gboard, not a physical keyboard, but thanks anyways.
