Try Swype or Swiftkey. I prefer the former, but I believe that the latter is more popular.
Swyped from my Nook Tablet, running CM7.
swiftkey
i use swiftkey x usually and its a good keyboard. right now i am trying the swiftkey 3 beta haven't noticed to much changes yet but only been using it for a couple days so far.
I found Touchpal Keyboard, it seems working fine http://goo.gl/Cu35o

What are are you using now and which do you think offers the most advantage.
Swiftkey with its learning and memory
Swype well with the swyping
Multitouch with the well multitouch lol
im currently testing swiftkey and am still not decided if only they could all be combined into a mega keyboard lol.

I've tried all three and currently using Swiftkey -- but I don't like any of them. I'll be switching back to the regular HTC_IME. I'm perfectly happy with it and it does everything I want.
Tried em all.. Liked swype the best but swiftkey is pretty nice too.
I'm a fan of SwiftKey. I've tried Swype and just couldn't get the hang of it. I still have it as an option though for an input method.
I downloaded swift key and didn't see a benefit.

I've been a huge Swype fan for a while (was even on the beta) so needless to say I'm in love with it.
I just installed SwiftKey and Droid X keyboard today. I did like SwiftKey but it takes a bit for it to start learning. It's really good though and the font it uses for the keys is awesome.
Droid X (multitouch) keyboard is really good as well. It looks good and I can type super fast on it (though no where near swype status).
I wish I could just combine all of them into one. Or at least give SwiftKey multitouch capabilities.
At the moment I'm using multitouch just for the cool factor but I'll probably end up switching back to SwiftKey and then Swype once I get tired of slower typing. Right now I just need a change of scenery.
I know there were some grumblings about Swype on the XOOM around release time and the team at Swype haven't returned any emails so I come to my community.
Is there any word on the XOOM getting Swype? Soon? Ever?
Anyone have a way of hacking it on? I've tried but keep getting the error "Screen resolution not supported".
Have you tried installing the beta?

Last i checked the beta didn't work on the xoom, that was the day i got my xoom too, so not sure if a new beta has been released since, but i also heard that swype had no intentions of making a swype version for the large tablets (keeping to the 7" of the galaxy tab) but those could have been hear say, just lending my 2 cents! I'd love to see a mini-swype that takes ups just one side of the screen and you use one thumb, that'd be sweet...
Still not working on the Xoom, but last I read on their forum they still intended to make it work for us.
Just go to themes and apps in this sub forum and you'll find thumb beta. It works pretty flawlessly for a beta

I just tried loading it few minutes ago. No dice. But I downloaded Thumb Keyboard last night and it is a massive improvement overall the stock keyboard. I love that it splits for thumb use in landscape mode and that a long press allows numbers and symbols on the main board without needing to jump back and forth boards like on the stock.
I figure if they can't get to market, there's always the competition.
I use SlideIt. I like swype better, but it's not a bad option. It's not free though, but pretty cheap.
Thanks for all the good info! Looking into it now.....

I'm using the new swift key for tablet beta and like it. Give it a shot.

I have both swiftkey and thumb keyboard. They're basically the same concept but I find it easier to type on the thumb keyboard thanks to its responsiveness and functionalities. Nevertheless, swiftkey interface is tron like which is wohoo nice. Though it still has more bugs to ve worked out than as of thumb keyboard

Phone keyboards won't fit very well on a bigger screen. I be tried smart keyboard too. The keys are squished down to the bottom of the screen and are longer.
I doubt that flext9 will work. But still 4.99 is still a bit too much for testing lol

Actually I'm using the flext9 keyboard on my Xoom to type this...
It does work Swype style, but not sure if typing is faster or swiping.
I guess it depends if you are using two hands or one to type. In portrait it seems better to swipe but not necessarily in landscape, if you have the tablet on the desk.
After 15 minutes of use I decided to keep it and still using it as my default keyboard so it can't be bad
I like the word prediction bar and the long press for punctuation... haven't tried the voice or handwriting recognition though.
I thought I'd take a survey to see what people are using.
Usually I give up on a new keyboard within minutes.
(I'm too impatient to struggle with typing a text, but I do enjoy hearing opinions.)
I'm using gingerbread now. I dislike the square keys, but the minor autocorrect for misspellings is nice e.g. youre -> you're. I find it much less intrusive than predictive keyboards.
Using smart keyboard pro. Like the compact QWERTY.

Swiftkey X +1
Smart Keyboard Pro, fer sure.
I'm using swype. Its annoying at first, but once you get used to it, it is much faster. I turn off the word prediction, and the stupid box. I will have to correct a word every once in a while, but for the most part, its smooth.
SwiftKey X here. I like it better than any other keyboards I've tried.

Another Swift Key X user.
It was the free Amazon app. of the day a while back, so I nabbed it.
After tweaking a bunch of settings, I like it.
Been using SwiftKey X since it was in beta on my old phone. Never looked back.

I go back and forth between swiftkey and swype. I wanna like swype but I cannot seem to get into it, but I keep trying
Another Swiftkey X user. Started with the Beta and haven't looked back. I keep looking for other choices but none can beat out Swiftkey for me.
SwiftKey X!

You can do a bunch of custom stuff in it.
I'm using Swype. It took some getting use to, but now I'm good to go.
Swiftkey X here but it hates Whatsapp so I have to switch over to the gingerbread one for that. I'm going to go look into Hackers and the other ones posted.
I barely even touched the stock keyboard. After coming from using an iPhone for 4 years, I was excited to finally use Swype and was surprised I was able to pick it up so quickly. Then I tried Swiftkey X for a week when it was free, it was pretty cool but I was still typing more slowly than Swype. So now I'm back to Swype but I want to try that TouchPal keyboard now. Need 10 posts before I can post in the dev forums, so here's my first!
I guess I shouldn't have lurked for so long. :\
stock samsung keypad here
blazing through on my VZ Droid Charge 4G
I like the gingerbread keyboard. I have used several (swype, swiftkey X, flex t9) and just keep going back to 2.3 or stock keyboards.
Just curious as to how many people prefer one keyboard or the other.
Im switching between each one and im curious
Latest Touchpal
Or
Latest Swype Beta
And why?
I feel Swype beta is better predictive and more friendly to mess ups
SwiftKey is faster than all of them and provides the best prediction IMO.

I'm for Swype much easier and faster to me plus Swype (mines) adapts to its user.

Swype. However swift key is coming out with a new version that has swype ability, that should prove to be the best

TouchPal wins if only for the way it handles numbers. Swipe up for a number is genius - press and hold on Swype and Swift seems so annoying now after experiencing the TouchPal way. It doesn't get in the way of swipe-to-type (because you're swiping up into nowhere) while still saving screen real-estate.
I still have Swype and Swiftkey (and Flow Beta) installed but just wanted to put this plug in for a little-known feature that I think is killer and deserves applause.

Swpe from the "Swype" button to #5 and the numerical keypad pops up. Been that way since they introduced Swype to cut, copy, paste.

Right now I'm using CleanROM. The keyboard it includes is pretty awful. I've replaced it with Kii, but - and I'm not sure if this is the keyboard or the ROM - the keyboard simply fails to show up on the screen for random 5-15 second intervals.
I'd like to replace the keyboard with something else. I really like the stock Android Jellybean and ICS keyboards.
Is there a way to get rid of the built-in keyboard entirely and replace it with the stock one?
i will never use any other keyboard besides swiftkey flow.
if you use your phone in landscape often, keymonk is interesting also.
Tried and didn't like the whole word prediction thing. Or swipe thing for that matter. I want something simple and barebones and fast/responsive as possible.
were the opposite lol. i only use swipe style keyboards.
hopefully someone else can give you a better recommendation.
before i switched to flow, i used the stock keyboard.

I didn't like Swype keyboards for the longest time. I told myself I would use one for a few days a really give it a chance. Been using Swype beta for months and love it. Blows away all other keyboards in my opinion.

I've always used perfect keyboard pro. Always has been super responsive and smooth for me. Tons of customization too. Up until this week when I tried it on Carbon 4.2. For some reason it doesn't play well on it

4.2 aosp or Swift key all the way.
Though I have to say that when I was on CleanRom I never had that much keyboard lag. Your installation may have issues especially if you restored apps using titanium.

4.2 AOSP keyboard for sure. A couple system apps + libs and you're set. You can even get one on the play store if you're super lazy.

I did not like swiping in the beginning much. Now, it is a must to have swiping capability. I found Swype beta to be the "best" right now, imo, just wish they have more themes to pick from. Or try Swiftkey.
I pretty much exclusively use a real virtual keyboard. Tops out between 65 and 70 words per minute. I just couldn't get down with the fake stuff.
The Gnote2 keyboard is pretty good.

There is a link in the theme forum to download. Just be sure to download the language before you try to open the keyboard, and don't install it with the ROM or you will be screwed upon activation. But once it's up, it's sweet.

+1 for SwiftKey. Best word prediction and no keyboard lag at all. I bought it almost a year ago and have been using it for awhile now. Best hands down.
