You are one of many in a sad bunch of people.
So many things wrong in what you just said.
"i have unlocked my phone using htcdev.com" - bad choice.
"rooted it" - how ?
"S-ON" - so, not able to flash anything.
"my /recovery is still s-on" - does not make sense at all.
What you should have done:
First - tried the Revolutionary tool
Second - Taco root, get temp root
Third - tried the Revolutionary tool again
Forth - flashed custom recovery, flashed su-binary to get su access

but i cant use adb it isnt working and i dont know why, so how do i use taco root?

There's an RUU that, if I'm not mistaken, will rest everything back to HBoot 1.17 with S-On and the bootloader locked. You would then be be able to use revolutionary to unlock the bootloader and proceed with rooting the right way.
But I'm not sure if you can do that when you're S-On.
Can someone else chime on if I'm on the right track?

Get a pimply teenager to do it for you.

everything is done for me: flashed another recovery
for those who are still searching to fix this problem: install fastboot, search for 4ext recovery, download the .img, put it in the folder where your fastboot.exe is placed, use cmd: cd <the folder where fastboot.exe is placed>, fastboot flash recovery recovery.img and start bootlaoder -> recovery, then you have just to install a gb rom, this should solve the problem

Stock with HTC logo during boot after RUU on top of clockworkmod+cyanogenmod

Hi all
Sorry for another thread so soon, but I'm in a very sad situation after I tried to fix my problem described here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1381432
So I downgraded from hboot 2.00.0002 til hboot 0.98.0000, s-off'ed using Revolutionary, Revolutionary offered to install ClockWorkMod which I accepted. Using clockworkmod I installed CyanogenMod 7.1. Due to problems with the touch functionality I decided to try to revert back to stock 2.10.401.5.
I read that this could be done just using the official RUU, so I connected my phone in fastboot-mode, ran RUU_Saga_S_HTC_Europe_2.10.401.5_Radio_20.4801.30.0822U_3822.10.08.04_M_release_219480_signed which detected my phone as "1.28.xx" (which was the version I flashed on during the downgrade) and the RUU went on without error and said "Congratulations, your phone bla bla". But then the phone reboots and never gets further than the green HTC logo on white background.
What am I to do? I can still connect to the phone via fastboot. ClockworkMod recovery console is gone, pressing recovery now just gives the default HTC recovery.

Flash recovery via fastboot.
EDIT:
Lol spastic I just realised what you tried to do. I'm going to leave you a hint, nothing more, and nothing less. This has been explained numerous times over the forum, you could simply do some reading and solve your problem.
All those two images show is that your radio has changed, and the reason your hboot is still the same is because the Revolutionary hboot is protected.
Lastly, on a "general" consensus, people who have no clue about the hardware they've purchased shouldn't be tampering with it.
Sorry, I completely panicked last night after it happened.
This morning, without reading anything other than your post (which was encouraging), I thought of a wealth of options.
One, which was the one i followed, was:
#1: Connect the phone via fastboot
#2: fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-saga.img
#3: now ClockworkMod was working again
#4: choose "back up and restore"
#5: restore my original nandroid backup
But now I will do some reading on how to properly revert back to stock
Thanks
Wuhtzu
Hmmm .. this is rather different to the replies I normally get.
I'll be maybe a little more helpfull. Try flashing the Engineering HBOOT, get rid of the Revolutionary HBOOT, its nothing more than trouble.
Use this HBOOT (0.98.2000).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113820
Flash that HBOOT using these instructions.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18122984&postcount=237
Don't bother with 2.00.2002, it just reduces your cache by 150mb, and donates it to the system partition.

I'm not sure I follow you. All I meant is that I successfully got my self back to the situation where I have revolutionary hboot, clockworkmod recovery and where I'm able to flash the ROMs I want. So that's all good. All you did here was hinting something like "pull your self together and so some more research"

For this next part I'm blown away. How could you know that I actually wanted to get rid of the Revolutionary Hboot while not wanting the 2.00.0002 hboot? Because that's precisely what I want to do - I have touch screen issues and need to check if it's all this rooting/s-off'ing/custom-ROMing that's to blame - so I need a hboot which will let me use stock RUUs.

Although the thread mentions Revolutionary, here are the step and instructions you are looking for. They will also worked when you unlock the HTC bootloader

After s-off with xtc clip use SuperOneClickv2.3.3-ShortFuse.zip to root your phone (you will need adb drivers) ,then install Clockworkmod from android market .... afther that put .zip of your castum ROM on sd card... but Clockworkmod (vol down + Power ,choose recovery ) ....
Hi, superoneclick does not work.
Freezes.
I am on 2.3.3 GB maybe thats the problem?
Do you check adb drivers ,and connection with pc ???
Send me a screenshot
You can also use this it will root the phone for you
Ok, worked !!
The phone was in fastboot, must be in normal USB mode and then start the superclick .exe on the PC.
Phone is now rooted and superuser acces.
Now upgrade to 2.3.5 sense 3.0 Gingerbread.
First i will install 4EXT recovery + make nandroid back-up !

I assume that you know to not update OTA - you will loose the root this way and have a bootloop - see here Flash a prerooted ROM
Sent from my HTC Desire S using Tapatalk
Good you told me , almost forgot !!!!
Looking for a prerooted ROM close to 2.3.5 sense 3.0 GB.
Can you advise one ?
Leave hboot at 0.98.0002 or go to new ENGboot ?
grts
I would just leave the hboot alone. As for a ROM look around the development section, see what you like. They're all pretty stable.
Sent from my HTC Desire S using xda premium
Try this one

Would recommend that you put 98.2 ENG bootloader on, safer for future

[Q] H-Boot Version?

You can see what my phone says in the picture, but I haven't read anything about Hboot 1.29? What does all this mean, the version, s-off, unlocked, etc... Can I flash any ROM from the dev section now, or do I still have to flash some other stuff?

Hboot 1.27 & 1.29 are the same. It really doesn't matter.
You have two options, stay S On or S Off.
If you want to S Off, use my automated tool
Or follow this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26280760
If you use my tool, Select option 2 first (Hboot 1.27 = 1.29 they are the same). Once done select option 3.
If you use the other guide, perform ONLY step 1 from here.
Then Format all partitions using 4EXT recovery & then install your ROM.
If you want to stay S On, follow this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25587345#post25587345
In my opinion S Off is better than S On

Ah, yes, 3 am here, forgive me for that.
You should get an ENG Hboot. (The tool can do that option 10)
If you continue with the unlocked bootloader, follow this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25587345#post25587345

Doesn't matter.
It just replaces the secured boot image with an unsecured one.

[Q] Can't flash RUU and get back to stock Rom

Hi,
I tried to flash RUU rom into my phone (DESIRE S).
I followed the instruction in the "How to S-ON the HTC Desire S, Unroot, remove Revolutionary and Clockwork Mod recovery" thread.
Apparently I tried to flash wrong RUU.
The flashing stopped in the middle and I get error massage that the version not matches my phone.
However my HBOOT change to version 2.00.0002 and he's locked and S-ON.
I unlock my phone with HTC tool HTCDEV. I flash CWM recovery and restored the previous ROM.
I tried to flash deferent RUU, this time I check my phone (from India) and find the right version, but I get another error massage.
RUU I tried to flash:
RUU_Saga_S_hTC_Asia_India_2.15.720.3_Radio_20.4801.30.0822U_3822.10.08.04_M_release_226809_signed.exe
I think my HBOOT is the problem.
My HBOOT:
*** UNLOCKED ***
SAGA PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT 2.00.0002
RADIO-382.10.08.04_M
Emmc-boot
Aug 22 2011,15:22:13
Which HBOOT image I need to flash, to flashing the RUU?
Thanks!
Before flashing another RUU, use misc_version script to "downgrade" your phone's main version.
It needs root.
can't get ROOT
Thanks for your answer
I solved this problem before I see your answer – I relock my HBOOT and run RUU exe file.
But now I have other problem:
I can't ROOT my phone
I tried 3 deferent methods:
[EXPLOIT] [26.04.2011][v1.2] GingerBreak APK (root for GingerBread)
[EXPLOIT]SuperOneClick v2.1.1 (Finally fixed!)
[EXPLOIT] Revolutionary - zergRush local root 2.2/2.3 | revolutionary root exploit
superOneClick – stuck in step 7 "WaitForDevice"
How can I get ROOT?
Thanks!
Downgrade or unlock the bootloader. The guides for both of those are in big INDEX thread.
u dnt need to downgrade
just unlock with ur unlock.bin code
then root with SuperOneClick
am sure of this steps cos am on stock and dat was d process i uesed
cheers

[Q] zergRush error when trying to downgrade hboot 2.0.2.002

I have unlocked the phone using htcdev and it is hboot 2.02.002 s-on. I am trying to downgrade to 0.98.. using the zergRush method mentioned here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399331
I can't get this to work and have seemed to have tried everything. When i try to run zergRush I get the following error
"link_image[1913]: 3985 missing essential tablesCANNOT LINK EXECUTABLE"
here is a screen grab of me completing the steps from that thread:

Does anyone know what is causing this error? and what should I do to resolve it?
I have been trying to work this out for days now. My aim is to s-off the phone, root it and flash pacman rom onto it.
Any help is very much appreciated before I finally go mental
Zergrush doesn't work with ICS.
According to what I've seen posted here, your only option to get root on ICS is to unlock your bootloader via htcdev -- unless you can find another exploit that works
Edit: wait a second, you already unlocked the bootloader. Then all you need to do is flash a custom recovery and from there you can run misc_version to allow you to downgrade your hboot. Then you can run an old RUU that has hboot 0.98 and then you can use revolutionary. You don't need temproot, you already have fastboot access!

--set_version set. VERSION will be changed to: 1.27.405.6
Patching and backing up partition 17...
Error opening input file.
image attached again thanks for help
UPDATE: I tried going into adb shell and changing to su then misc_version (see newer screen shot) what do I do now? I have an older ruu...
Created the goldcard again and it sorted the problem I was having with the version number not being correct!
Feel a bit like Andy Murray right now
