So I heard the international HTC one S will not work with Tmobiles 4G, can that be changed if we get a stock Tmo RUU with a Tmo radio?
I don't think so. Pretty sure it's the hardware. T-Mo's version is coming out in about 2 weeks, if you've already bought the int'l version you could just return it and wait...

Oh.... I guess I did. That's a good thing to hear then. So then all a tmo radio would probably do is get better reception?

No you can't fix it with an RUU either.

What's with the terrible replies and misinformation?
According to HTC's website, the international HTC One S does not support the AWS band(1700/2100) needed for T-Mobile's HSPA+
http://www.htc.com/europe/smartphones/htc-one-s/#specs
We don't have any reason to believe that this could be changed by simply flashing another ROM. Only time I've ever heard about something like that happening is with AT&T's variant of the Galaxy S. Going from memory here, but IIRC the hardware was capable of AWS but the stock firmware disabled it, and some devs figured out how to enable it again. Samsung had probably disabled the AWS at AT&T's request- to keep that phone crippled if someone tried to unlock it and take it to the only other major GSM carrier in the US- T-Mobile. I don't see any reason for HTC to disable AWS on an unlocked phone, so the more logical explanation is the hardware itself doesn't support AWS.

I saw there was a number to(call)/ dial to change settings but when I set it to 3g my signal would just stop and say no service. I also heard wasn't possible to have 3 but I doubt that, is it true?

That depends on the area where you are....in the case you are using a different carrier from ATT you wont get 3g...just edge.
So "lay012" gets 3g because he has AT&T?
There's no way then?

For 3G
Tmobile uses 1700/2100 MHz
HTC Inspire uses 850/1900 MHz
So to answer you, there is NO way. Have to get a phone that matches the network.
The stuff they teach you in school 'skimming and scanning' or whatever your teachers called it shouldn't be used in life after school. I didn't see the unlocked for T-Mobile part .-.
I'm on AT&T.

No the bands are hardware dependent. This has been talked about it hundreds of times. A search would have shown this.

Had they succeeded in buying T-Mo they would be. I'm pretty sure Verizon is still king of the subscriber count for now, though.

1. Verizon
2. ATT
3. Sprint
4. T-Mobile
Though it seems where I live, most everybody is rolling with Cricket prepaid (but they may fall under Sprint)

I have a unlocked T-Mobile HTC One S that I'm using on AT&T SIM and it works perfectly but T-Mobile SIM doesn't work (No service). It gets service for 2-5 seconds then no service. The weird thing is that this is a T-Mobile phone so isn't it suppose to work?

Nope, it doesn't ask me to enter a PIN.
Call T-mobile and ask if the phone have been "blacklisted".
What about your radio/firmware? Up to date?

I'll give them a call. I got this phone off craigslist but I didn't test it on T-Mobile because I'm on AT&T. How does it get blacklisted?

If the original owner purchased it on a contract and then stopped paying. Or, they reported it lost or stolen.

Your only real option is to use it on a network other than T-Mobile. The only person who could possibly fix it is the original owner who had it blacklisted.

It will get AT&T 4G(note, not LTE). The One S supports 850/1700/1900/2100 for 4G. You must get it unlocked of course. I purchased an instant unlock code on eBay for $6.

I've got an AT&T straight talk sim in my i9020t and can only get an edge connection, from what I can tell it looks like I need a Tmobile sim. I read about an SII that you could flash a radio that would make it work though, anyone know anything about this? I'd rather try flashing some before I order a new sim.
I've heard that too about the GSII, but I'm afraid the situation is different for the nexus s. Your I9020T's 3g radio will only work on tmobiles frequencies; the hardware's reception capabilities cannot be changed by flashing something.
Now, I'm not familiar with the sim you currently have in, BUT, if that network uses the same frequencies as T-Mobile, all you need to do is adjust your APN's.
I'd look up the frequencies for you, but I'm off to class..
Let my know how it goes/what you find!

I'm pretty sure that he's right about being stuck on the edge with at&t. 3g frequency only on tmobile. You would need a pentaband phone like the gnex to get both carriers 3g or hpsa+

Yep, at&t 3g frequencies are not the same as T-Mobile frequencies. You definitely need a T-Mobile sim for your i9020T
