Just got HTC Sensation but it's...IMEI blocked - HTC Sensation

Hi, yesterday I bought a phone from craiglist (it was stuck in a bootloop so I fixed it) once I got it fixed I rooted the phone again and flashed the custom rom.
When it started it said that it's network blocked so I unlocked the phone using PG58DIAG.nbh (could this be the issue?)
Now I can't make any calls or send any messages BUT I still have a signal. When I want to make a call all I can hear is a small beep and then it ends the call.
Do you think that I could call HTC and say that I can't turn the phone on? After putting it to stock rom and turning S-ON again.
Or is there any way to unblock the IMEI legally? Maybe going to the town centre to guys with the stall?

Hi,
IMEI blocked sounds like a stolen phone to me...

Yeah, it was listed as bricked and since I know something about Android phones I bought it for a good price. Well after I have unbricked it I got this surprise :\
Any ideas about how to get around it? I don't really want to return it to HTC or Provider since I have actually bought it.

Hi,
Nothing that we could legally talk about on XDA...

Yeah, I get what you mean. But do you think that if I put S-ON etc. Would HTC accept the return?

[Q] No GSM signal after repair??

Hi to everyone
I bricked my phone after flash. It was compleatly dead.
The problem arrives when I collect the phone from repair shop.
They did not charge me coz the phone don't see any network. I thing they resurrect my phone and flash it from basis.
Phone was unlocked by code before I bricked it.
Now everything is working fine but after inserting a sim card it saying "no network"
Any ideas or sugestion??
Thanks
When you send something for a repair and get a non-working thing back, do NOT mess with anything and send it back where it came from. They were supposed to repair it, huh?
Thanks for a quick reply
The phone was compleatly dead after my flashing, it was not reacting at all. I was flashing with unofficial firmware so I'd think that sending it to LG it's not good idea.
So I give it to repair shop. After a week the phone was ready but with no GSM. They said "it's only this what we can do about it".
Second repair shop tried to flash it with official T mobile firmware. The same- no gsm.
So I'm left on my own.
Well, phone without GSM is useless.
How did you brick it exactly? What were you flashing and how?
What is the ROM installed there now? What is the baseband version? Is there any IMEI shown in phone info?
Yep, but is good for wi-fi
I was flashing with LG official software and it fails. I forgot to enable LG virtual modem driver. The software utility hangs up for 4h. I woke up pissed off and i took battery out, I know, I'm genius. After that I lost ability to enter emergency mode, even fast boot was not working. Oh my Lg R.I.P
I was updating from 2.2.2 (KDZ flash) to 2.3.3 (LG update tool)
IMEI is showing
Baseband AMSS6038
Rom LG-P500-V20e (2.3.3.)
One more thing
When I collect phone from repair shop the IMEI was 0 and they change it to normal, like on the label.

Should work... The SIM is good? (Try another one ) Is there some GSM signal around?
Other than that, you can try to flash again via LGMPD or whatever. If it does not work, then brick it again (you have the know-how apparently ) and take it to LG for PCB replacement.
Send it to lg service centre..they have more knowledge and experience den repair shops
I'd try 3, vodafone, orange and O2 sim card
Signal coverage in my area is good
I was also flashing throught LGMPD
When phone was in repair they opend it. There are marks on screws and on the top from prying tool. You think I should try send it to lg??
Well... if you want to use your phone as a phone, then... Ask them whether they would charge you and how much.
prying tool

OMG... is that the job of the "repair" shop?! In that case...
I know. They should sell potatos on the market, not fixing the phones.
Oh well. I'll call later to lg and ask about that or brick it again, cover marks on the screws and hope it'll go throught.
Thanks a lot for help

One more thing - does the current IMEI match the one on the box you got with your phone?? Cause what I suspect that they took some ****ty broken board from a phone with non-working GSM and did put that into your phone. Kinda doubt the morons who are using prying tools would know what JTAG is and how to work with that.
@Omen-am: I have the same problem, used the same flash methods and also got my phone bricked. Go someone on ebay to jtag resurrect it and now I can switch it on, have already flashed all the versions of firmware that used to be on there to the latest GB but none of them recognize my sim card (which work fine in my old phone). So now I have a perfectly working "mini-tablet" working fine with wifi, bit no gsm service. So my question is, have you been able to fix yours? Do anyone out there know of a fix?
Thanks

Hey,
the only advice i can give you is to call the Police a phone and report it stolen if you havent already, then give your carrier a call and ask them the above.
Good luck.
Isn't the IEMI on the packaging that the device came in? Anyway, it may be too late but try this:

Getting Cell Service with NO SIM! And some other guys number ! Help

I just bought a phone the guy who made no mention of the fact that it was rooted when I bought it. What is worse is he mentioned that his GF worked for Verizon, which did not seem to mean much at the time. Knowing that here is what i'm dealing with.
I was in a rush when I checked out the phone as I had to meet another person to pick one up for my wife as well. It's the sch-i575 in white 16gb. After having a minute to look at the phone it turns out he had Paranoid Android flashed and the phone was rooted. CRAP! Not what I was looking for and he was not upfront about it. The incredibly strange thing was that with NO SIMCARD the phone was getting 3g signal! I spent all night trying to unroot \ undo what he did. I managed to use ODIN to get back to the stock rom although I think it's still a rooted one since I still have the super user app. I got a sim card from verizon but since it was rooted I did not bring the phone in and when I tried to activate later it would not activate. My wife's by the way is working flawless and when I put my sim in her phone it works fine as well. I had to put the sim in my wife's phone and it activated there. Here is the crazy thing, with or with out a simcard the phone makes calls and has 3g internet only but when I make a call it uses HIS NUMBER!! I'm not sure what the hell to do, what could have he done? Any ideas? Please all help is appreciated! I did not think this was even possible for the phone to function w/o a sim. I'm worried about taking it in to Verizon because of the funkiness. Ty again for any insight...

I thought the I575 was an old slide phone. So A. your in the wrong section of the forum since this is Verizon's S3 or B. you mentioned the wrong device number? I saw phones before working and running on networks without sim-cards but that was years ago. If it is an S3, you sure it's a Verizon device? Also since you see 3g....can you browse around in the browser or make a phone call?

Yes, it's a galaxy s3 16gb in white. It looks like currently I was using the tar66 using ODIN. I'm reverting back to the bone stock one now. As far as the models go isn't the SCH-I575 the Verizon version of the S3?
I'm waiting on the stock unrooted rom to take through ODIN and will report back. Thank you for taking the time to try and help.
Ohh, yes the internet works and when I make phone calls with or with out my sim in it makes calls successfully but the other guys number shows up. What the heck did this guy do to the phone!

You are obviously absolutley correct. I'm frantically trying to figure this out. I have flashed the stock rom and don't have super user anymore. The problem persists with the guys number.
Could he have flashed a custom kernel and modem or does reverting back using the stock rom cover all that ?

I just double checked and I had the I535VRLAG1 version, yours is the I535VRALF2 in the link you posted trying this now. The crazy thing is that it even says that the sim is activated with MY number! but the calls are still comming from him. I even tried wiping the device and clearing the cache. I also tried to JUST flash the modem with VRLG1.modem.tar.md5 and nothing :\. Waiting on the file from your link to download and will try that.
Is it possible that this is being caused by something on Verizon's end? The phone ( with out the SIM ) is registered to him somehow? I know this is not normal but because his GF worked for Verizon could they have done something funky?
Yeah its definitely possible its from something she did to the phone but most likely nothing from Verizon's end. Does the IMEI number under status match the IMEI number under the battery?

Yes IMEI is the same in the OS as behind the battery.
The curious thing is that on the same screen in the OS where you find the IMEI there is also a field called Network and it says " Unknown"
It also has things like:
Eri v : 5
Mobile network type : EvDo-rev.a:8
The thing I keep coming back to is how is it possible for this phone to make calls\ have data with out a sim?
Starting to really think I got cheated
Cheated? Sounds like you have free Verizon service.
Roll with it. If you really want a bill you can have mine...

Just did and the same thing happened. I went to the Verizon store and the guy there had no idea and got me in touch with tech support from the store. They were dumbfounded and flat out said that what is happening is impossible. "It's impossible to make\receive phone calls with out a sim unless they are emergency" I harped on the fact that I am making phone calls as one of their other customers and that this is a big deal. In the end since I had the insurance and extended warranty they will ship me a new phone.

HTC One S - Loss of Signal

I recently bought this phone about 2 months ago.
Just got done checking several emails while on 4G. Put the phone down for a minute. Picked it up and lost all signal dealing with the mobile side. It works on WIFI but when it comes to sending texts, making calls or anything that deals with mobile it doesn't work. It says "No Signal Limited service Emergency Calls Only". It has been like this for the past hour and a half. I am currently located in Dallas, TX and I know that we are not going through any outages right now since I used my work phone to call my father's cell which is the same network as mine. If anyone has a clue what is going on, please state. Thank you very much!
It is running Android 4.0.4.
HTC Sense Version 4.1
Stock Rom.
In the NETWORK tab,
Operator Name: Unknown
Signal Strength: 0
Mobile Network Type: Unknown
Service State: Out of Service
Roaming: Not Roaming
I have tried removing the microSIM card and turned off my phone and left it off for about 15 mins. Nothing changed.
Tried changing it to airplane and leaving it for a bit and nothing changed.
Do you have the option to try this microSIM on a different unit, not yours?

Now does T-mobile replace phones with refurbished phones or with new ones?

Hey guys,
[n00b question]
I didn't want to start a new post, and admittedly I haven't done a thorough search through the One S forums for this issue I'm having, so forgive the thread hijack. I recently acquired a One S (unlocked, unbranded, 'global' version) and after receiving it and placing the SIM in the device -same microSIM as from my SGSIII- the phone acts crazy. I go from bouncing from 3G to H and back several times a minute. I know that can't be right, because I do not have this issue on my SGSIII. Does anyone know what might be causing this?
Also, first time posting in this sub-forum, so please go lightly on me.

Thanks guys.

Thought I was the only one and that may SIM card was maybe broken but it seems it's an hardware bug or issue.
Eventhough the first 4 months I never experienced this issue but lately is happening as often as 1-2 per day. Using flightmode doesn't help, shutting down the phone neither only a restart temporarily fixes the issue till the next time. Really annoying since I use this phone when I'm on standby and so I need to check every few minutes to make sure I still got a network connection...

Do you have a link. The cheapest I have found on ebay are over 200 and those come from China so who knows if they even work. Samsung charges $180 to replace a screen? Thats an awesome deal since you can't even buy the screen for that much from what I can see. Do you have a link to where I have to go to get Samsung to fix it?

Cool. I contacted Samsung via their online chat and the person I talked to said that they will replace my screen for $135. I can't believe its that cheap. As you can see you can't even buy the screen for that much. I'm going to put a formal request in and see if that price jumps up. If Samsung will fix it though then I'm thinking thats the way to go. Hopefully they don't care that I have my bootloader unlocked and have a custom ROM on it.

I'm pretty sure they will. If you had USB debugging enabled before your screen died, try to adb reboot download and flash back the stock ROM, just to be safe. Otherwise try and use the Volume Down+Home+Power combo then press volume down then power again to enter download mode (while the phone is off)

Do you think they would care? I'm not sending it in under warranty. I'm paying to have them fix it. I would think at the very least might just flash a stock ROM and maybe relock the bootloader. I mean they do sell a developer version of my phone so its not like flashing a custom ROM is a capital crime. I think Verizon is the driving force between locking that down. Anyone have any insight into if this will be problem?

I think you'll be good due to the reasons you mentioned.
Worst that could happen is that they won't fix it and refund you.

Alright the verdict is in. I sent the phone and I just got it back yesterday. The phone has a brand new screen but also has a brand new stock ROM installed. It appears that they slammed the factory load over my rooted ROM and unlocked bootloader, leaving me with 100% stock phone. Its annoying but I can understand why they would want to have a clean load on there so they can test all the phones functionality. The problem is my phone seems to have lost its ability to connect to 4g now. It connects fine to 3g but not 4g. I called Verizon and they believe the problem is phone related because when I put my SIM into my Galaxy Nexus 4g loads up just fine.
I went through the root/bootloader unlock process again so I could load my old ROM to see if my 4g would start working but still no love. Any thoughts on what I could try to resolve this?

I have a similar issue. Since the radios are integrated (right?) I am assuming my 4g is not fried (got it off eBay). I am thinking the connection between the 4g antenna and the radio is severed somehow. Haven't gotten around to checking it out (always on wifi) but when I do I'll try to update if I am successful with fixing it.
Probably worth going to a Verizon company store and get a new sim card. There free at company stores and 15.00 at retailers. But DON'T Dial *228 with a 4g phone, it can mess up the sim. After getting new sim, check radios and see what you have installed. I would try a few different one to see what works best with your phone and flash rpm also. If you unlocked, check it or run ezunlock again version 1.2 has been reported to work better than the latest.
Goid luck

Actually I got mine working. The issue was that Samsung didn't fix my phone. They replaced it with a new one and just reflashed the same IMEI. The problem was that whatever process they use to flash the IMEI doesn't jive well with Verizons registration system. I talked to customer care for a few hours and they finally said I should try a new sim card. I was scepitcal but the guy at the Verizon store activated a new SIM for me and after the phone powered back up I had 4g. Apparently the new SIM card retriggered whatever activation that was required to resync the all the numbers. Might wan to try getting a new SIM.
It now makes sense to me why my phone appeared to be wiped so thoroughly. It was actually a brand new phone. Not a bad deal for $135.
