its already in sense 4.0 roms. i would be more interested in getting the amaze camera working on ics roms
We will never truly have there camera quality, just their app, becuase they have some kind of special camera chip built in for better images

Hey guys, why is there only one (with many problems) sense rom for the nexus s? what is it that makes it so hard to port?
Having come from the HTC Dream where there is always an abundace of (insert random sense phone here) sense rom ports, it seems very odd that the Nexus S doesn't have them.
Htc sense is proprietary code. The only way to port is in smali and aosp devs don't like smali. I don't mind working with it but no plans on working with it (sense).

Another question is why isn't there any touchwiz port yet? Sgs and ns are very similar phones both made by samsung. There is a sense rom which is pretty functional, but no touchwiz? COMON!

Maybe because stock Android is better and faster than these bloated third party UIs?

Your Dream was made by HTC.
Sense is made by HTC.
The Nexus S is made by Samsung.

I have heard this so many times that it turned into a pathetic cliche...
Your statement has no sense btw, it would be a ROM with root acces so system apps can easily be unninstalled. I would use touchwiz for the graphic acceleration alone, in the browser.
You can even get rid of it's launcher, you can delete absolutely everything you want and you would still have the features from touchwizz, like codec support out of the box and maybe the cool camera app. But I repeat, the browser alone would be the biggest feature.
Edit: Touchwizz is not an UI, its a ROM with extra features.
generally people that would buy a nexus dont want the propriatary UIs. thats why they bought a nexus, to avoid that extra bloat.

The closest similar phone to the NS on the market is SGS. There is a port for HTC Sense which comes from a totally different phone, totally different CPU and GPU and touchwizz can't be ported? I really, really doubt it.

No once said it can't be ported, my statement was addressing the end of your previous post having the codexes and camera app. You can't because the hw is different. The camera in the sgs, is capable of 720p recording, ours is not. Just because porting touchwiz is possible I would never expect to see it I promise no dev has the interest in it. You should have went with the sgs2 a newer updated tw than on the sgs.

I'm used to running alternate firmware on my Android phones, and with Jelly Bean so much more likely to occur as a custom ROM before HTC release an OTA in Australia, well, I'm looking to do it again.
The one downside is that it looks most ROMs use the default ICS camera app, which I'm sure is fine and all, but doesn't seem like it would take advantage of all the features the default HTC One camera app offers. The slow-mo video, power to take pictures while recording, burst/best shot mode etc.
So I gotta know, is the One X camera app available an APK? Are there any Senseless ROMs that include it? Is this likely to be the case for Jelly Bean?
And while we're at it, the Notes application isn't bad either.
Nope. Unfortunately. Sense-less roms lack exactly what the sense camera needs: sense framework. For a near non-sense experience with sense camera you can try cleanrom developers edition.

Hi guys~
As per title, has anyone perhaps considered of porting different roms to our device? Anyone can suggest what/which roms are very nice to use/stable/fast/battery saving to port. My first opinion is trying the Elegancia ROM from the HTC Sensation. I think that phone is quite similar no? Perhaps also from HTC One S?
Anyway, this is just a suggestion. I would do it if I could but I don't know how only
If a developer can port it over, pretty sure he/she be thanked numerous times
Thanks guys!

So, if you want Elegancia ROM ported to our device, you want to downgrade the software to ICS? Cause Elegancia ROM is ICS and to be honest, there is no JB Rom outside with JB and our screen resolution, which you can port. And other resolutions needs to be resized, who can or want to do this?

Haha.. It's a suggestion~~ And I quite like the Elegancia ICS. It's stable and battery saving. I've used it on my Sensation
Otherwise, any other roms also can perhaps be ported? Are the porting tools suitable for our phones? If I want to try it? LOL~~
In case of porting, take a look for a phone with 480x800 resolution, others is to much work!
But if you can live with ICS, of course you can port Sensation Roms. But i think, most people want the newest software which is possible.
Cool things like CM you have to build yourself.
And as far as i know, there are no porting tools, you have to do by hand. But here on xda are a lot of guides for it.
In fact for porting roms you should find a device with same SoC and brand. others like resolution and ram and storage aren't big issues.

You can resize a whole rom? Every single apk must be resized. If you dominate the right tool, its possible, but still much work!
Not whole but some and also you can use other phones apks that have same resolution. Big problem is SoC compatibility.

As far as i know, you have to resize all apk's under system/app/ which you wanna use. For our rom there are 269! I don't wanna do this!
And, which phones have same resolution and better Software which is worth to take? Atm not one.
You only have Desire X with same resolution, which has Sense light software.
Or you have to go back to ICS, there are many rom's. But who want ICS, when he can use JB?
When Desire 500 is out/leaked, we can talk about. Same resolution, same Android version with Sense 5.
Anyone considered making an AOSP ROM?

Hey guys, why is the camera better on Sense roms better than the non-sense roms such as CM or AOSP etc?
I think this applies to the HTC One X as well, somehow the camera (and battery life) is just better. Is it because of the different kernels they use? Or is there more to it? Like, it doesn't seem like any of the non-Sense custom roms have the same camera quality as the Sense roms do.....

It has to do with the drivers I believe. In general, stock will be better. Not to say someone couldn't make a similar or even better. Just generally speaking.
In order to get the best quality of the "Ultra Pixel" camera in the M8 does one need to be running the stock ROM from Verizon? Do any of the ROMs available have the software/driver/app to make use of the camera to it's fullest extent (or at least as well as the stock ROM does)?
I really like the CyanogenMod v12.1. It is fast and stable. The camera however, seems a bit underwhelming. Would be great if there was a way to add in the HTC app/drivers for the camera to other ROMs such as CM.

1.Sense camera is the best one for photography.
2.No.You can't use sense camera on AOSP,CM based ROM.
3.But you can have pure stock + sense camera if you flash a GPE ROM since there is a sense camera port for it.
You can find them Digitalhigh GPE & Stock Rooted 5.1 GPE LMY47O.H6
