Yes it will install custom recovery on your phone and you can install custom roms (if there are any good ROMS out there which are better then stock).
But I wouldnt suggest trying any other ROMS for 3 reasons;
1. The bootloader of a lot of the Sky-850 variants are locked so you might brick your phone by trying to install another rom (I did once took me a good 5 hours to bring it back to life)
2. They are all in Chinese and Vietnamese so you can accidentally flash a wrong ROM without Knowing the right one.
3. None of these ROMS out there are any better then the stock one, not even close so you better stick to the Stock ROM.

I've got an A850S, and the only reason why im looking for a custom ROM is for the SMS fix, I'm using the phone outside korea you see. I'm actually looking for a modded stock rom for the SMS fix, or like a patch i can install for the sms fix, but haven't found any yet.

I also have the S version, Just Install Go SMS or Pansi SMS from the market. You will be good to go.
You can also root the device using the method above and freeze the stock messaging app (which I would not recommend for you).
So the best way is Install a good messaging app from the market and hide your stock messaging app using the hide feature in the app drawer.

I know what you mean by freezing the stock messaging app, thing is, if i use go sms or whatever sms app, im able to send messages with 160 characters fine, but anything more than that, it says unable to send message at this time, please wait until the service becomes available. I can set handcent to break the message into 2 separate ones, but id like it to be just one message if you know what i mean. (sorry kinda OC)

Mar 29, 2013 Ξ57 CommentsRoot and Install CWM Recovery on Verizon Galaxy S3 SCH-I535 Android 4.1.1/4.1.2
posted by Rakesh Shukla
Rooting an Android device has many privileges. Having rooted your phone once, you are able to use third-party custom ROMs and mods that require a custom recovery to be installed. Besides, there are hundreds,or say thousands, of app that are capable of doing wondrous things and enhance your phones performance and usability. But this humble eulogy of rooting cannot undermine the hazards associated with it.
Rooting a Samsung Galaxy device is much easier than rooting any device manufactured by other OEMs but when it comes to rooting a Samsung phone from Verizon, things get a little more complicated and rounded. However, complicated it might be, it cannot stop our great Devs to crack the nut. All props and credit for the method described here goes to XDA member open1your1eyes0.
Disclaimer:
Please note that the procedure of unlocking the bootloader, rooting and installing a custom recovery on your Verizon Galaxy S3 SCH-I535 is considered risky. Moreover, it will also void the warranty of your phone. Proceed only when you are sure what you are going to do and understand the seriousness of things. More than anything, be careful while following the steps.
Looking for Rooting Tutorial for Some Other S3 Variant?
Take a look all Galaxy S3 rooting tutorials here.
Prerequisites:
•Charge your phone to have at least 60% of battery juice.
•Rooting does not wipe any data from your phone but we would strongly recommend that you backup all your contacts, messages, call-log, apps, etc. Here are some good free apps to help you with backing up your data.
•Put your device in USB Debugging mode from Settings> Developer Options>
Required Downloads:
Since this tutorial is for Galaxy S3 I535 on Android 4.1.1 and 4.1.2 both, download the files accordingly- only different being the stock bootchain file. For the sake of convenience put all the downloaded files in one folder.
These are important but mandatory files. If you have them, just skip:
•Download the Odin tool and extract the zip on your desktop: Odin3-v3.07.zip – Mirror
•Download Samsung USB Drivers and install on your computer. Skip if you already have it: Download
These two files are meant to be downloaded by all:
•Download the custom Bootchain file: VRALEC.bootchain.tar.md5 – Mirror
•Download CWM Recovery: CWM6023TouchVZW.tar.md5 — Mirror
Download one of the following files depending on what you want:
•Download SuperSU file (for Root Only): CWM-SuperSU-v0.99.zip
•Download SuperUser file to (Root and Unlock Bootloader both): SuperSU_Bootloader_FIXED.zip — Mirror
Download one of the following bootchain files depending on firmware version of your Galaxy S3 SCH-I535:
•Bootchain file for VRBLK3 (Jelly Bean 4.1.1): VRBLK3_Bootchain.tar.md5 — Mirror
•Bootchain file for VRBMB1 (Jelly Bean 4.1.2): VRBMB1_Bootchain.tar.md5 — Mirror
Root, Unlock Bootloader and Install CWM:
Already made the preparations and downloaded the required stuff? It’s action time now. Be careful and proceed.
1.Copy the “SuperSU_Bootloader_FIXED.zip” file to your phone’s internal or external SD card.
2.Turn off your Galaxy S3 and boot it into Download mode: hold the Volume Down + Home + Power buttons simultaneously for a few seconds till you see a warning screen asking you to press Volume Up key to continue. Pressing this key will take you to Download or Odin mode.
3.Open the Odin folder and run the .exe file present there and then connect your Galaxy S3 to PC via USB cable. Wait till Odin detects your device and you see ID:COM port turning Blue and “Added!!” text at the message box below.
4.Now we will flash the custom bootchain file so make sure that “Auto Reboot” and “F Reset Time” are selected on Odin. Then click the PDA button and select the “VRALEC.bootchain.tar.md5″ file and click on “Start” button on Odin.
5.The bootchain file will be flashed in a few seconds and you will see “RESET!!” message with blue signal. Your phone will reboot automatically. Close the Odin window and disconnect the USB cable.
6.Now you need to install the ClockworkMod touch recovery. To install it, boot the phone into Download mode again (as you did in Step #2 above).
7.Relaunch the Odin, connect the phone using the cable and uncheck the “Auto Reboot” option on Odin.
8.Click on the PDA button, select the “CWM6023TouchVZW.tar.md5″ file and hit the “Start” button.
9.CWM Recovery will be flashed to your phone followed by “PASS!!”. This time your phone will not reboot automatically. Close the Odin window.
10.Now pull out the back cover of the phone and remove the battery. Place the battery to its place after about 30 seconds.
11.Then boot the phone into ClockworkMod recovery mode. To do this, hold the Volume Up + Home + Power buttons simultaneously. Keep the 3 keys pressed till your phone vibrates and when it does, release the Power button but keep the other 2 keys pressed till you a gray background with blue text the clockworkmod recovery written on the top of the screen.
12.Since it’s touch recovery, you can either select options by tapping, or using the volume and power keys.
13.Okay, now go to “install zip from sdcard> choose zip from sdcard” and select the “SuperSU_Bootloader_FIXED.zip” file.
14.Confirm your choice by selecting “yes’ and let the installation finish.
15.When it’s done, go back and select “reboot system now”. But before your phone boots, pull out the battery and place it back after a few seconds.
16.Once again, and for the third time. you will have to boot the device in Download Mode. You know well how to do it.
17.Relaunch Odin, connect the phone to PC, click on PDA button and select the stock bootchain file (either VRBLK3 or VRBMB1) depending on what file you have downloaded.
18.Click the “Start” button to initiate the installation. When it is finished, the phone will reboot automatically.
So, now you have a fully rooted Verizon Galaxy S3 SCH-I535 with unlocked bootloader and ClockworkMod recovery installed. To verify the root, download any app that requires root permissions. However, there is a specific app for the purpose and you can find it at the Play Store
Everything went sucessfully and my phone was rooted. I did encounter one problem and that was I couldn't get the CWM Touch Recovery to stick. I found out with the help of a few forum members that I needed to select "yes" on the propmt to overwrite the stock recovery. (the warnign I got stated ROM will flash back to stock. Would you like to fix this? YES= This can not be undone/ NO or Go Back. I was selecting go back because I was not sure on what to select and CWM would never stick it would always reboot back to stock. Last night I did select yes, and it worked fine.) I went back and fixed the issue, and now CWM Touch Recovery is flashed on my phone. I also used Terminal Emulater to back up my IMEI.
My question is, because I initailly did'nt flash the CWM Touch Recovery the right way (right way meaning selecting yes) does this mean I didn't unlock my bootloader? I'm a complete noob and just want to make sure I have things in order.
Thanks,
Take a look at this thread to determine if you bootloader is unlocked.

Hello XDA,
I know there are lot of guides on how to root the Galaxy Note 2,but unfortunately I have not seen a guide that is clear enough to beginners that know nothing about Android. So, after hard work I have done a guide on how to root the Samsung Galaxy note 2 and put it in your hands.
Note:I Have Also Made A Picture Full Guide So, IF This Guide Wasn't Clear For You, You Can Go HERE
Introduction:
Today, I will guide you on how you can root Samsung Galaxy S Duos. This method is the easiest and the safest with NO triangle will appear on your boot. This method will flash (install) a custom recovery to gain root then after rooting we will flash back the stock recovery.
Disclaimer:
I’m not responsible if something goes wrong on your phone(Usually nothing goes wrong), you’re doing this on your own responsibility. Rooting your phone will void your warranty so don’t root your device unless you know what you are doing. To know more about rooting check What is rooting and it’s top 10 benefits.
The Method:
Requirements:
1- Download this zip file Galaxy S Duos S7562 (Rooting Kit).rar, thenextract it and you shall see these 5 files:
A)CWM-SuperSU-v0.96, put it in your phone external SD card.
B) Odin.zip,
C) CWM recovery
D) Stock_Recovey
E) Samsung USB drivers, install it.
2- Backup your device.Luckily, we have a post on how you can backup your
device here
Let’s Start:
Step1:
A- First of all,put your Galaxy S Duos in the download mode by holding the and then press the power button for 5 seconds then a warning screen will appear and you will have to press the volume up.
B- Extract Odin.zip and you will see 3 files, now click on “odin.exe”.
C- Now make sure only these boxes are checked ,then click on PDA and Choose CWM recovery.tar
D- Now remove the cover then click on start and wait until you see “Pass” above the “ID:COM”
table
Step2: After the phone shutdown completely (you can know that because the phone will vibrate when its completely off) remove the battery, then place it again. Now hold the Volume UP Button+ Home Button then press the Power Button for 5 seconds to boot to ClockWorkMod recovery. (To navigate throw the menus you can use the Home Button to select and the Volume Buttons to move up and down.)
Step3:
A- Now Choose the option “install zip from sdcard” then the option “choose zip from sdard” and now navigate to the file we moved earlier (CWM-SuperSU-v0.96.zip) and choose it by pressing the Home Button. You will have now to scroll to the option “Yes” by using the Volume Keys and then choosing it by pressing the Home Button
B-After the process finishes, you will have to go back to the main menu and choose the option “Reboot System Now”. Now your phone will restart and you should see SuperSu in your app drawer.

There is no need for this, as there are numerous resources already available on how to root a Samsung device. Also, the methods described in your guide do not work for all Samsung Galaxy devices, and can be harmful to some devices. Unless you've actually fully vetted the methods you are posting, it's best not to post a guide.

Warning !
Please note that the official TWRP for Nougat on Galaxy S7/ S7 Edge is not available yet but based on my experience the Marshmallow version is working on Nougat. By installing a custom recovery on your S7 and S7 Edge and rooting it, you’ll void the warranty. I have tested the procedure on my Galaxy S7 Edge (SM-G935FD) successfully but still, you are warned to proceed unless you understand what you’re going to do. The procedure might soft-brick your device but you can easily recover it by following the guide on my post before. Please note that Samsung Pay won’t work once your Galaxy S7 is rooted.
Preparation :
1. Download the latest Odin flash tool.
2. If you own the Galaxy S7 (SM-G930F/FD), download this TWRP image: twrp-3.1.0-0-herolte.img.tar
3. Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge (SM-G935F/FD) users should download this file: twrp-3.1.0-0-hero2lte.img.tar
4. Download the latest TWRP flashable SuperSU and the latest no-verity-opt-encrypt and put that in your sdCard.
6. Make sure you have Samsung USB Drivers installed on your computer.
7. Go to Settings> About device> Software info and tap Build number 7 times to enable Developer options. THIS STEP IS VERY IMPORTANT !
8. Go back once, now you can find the developer options at the very end of the scroll, open it and enable OEM unlocking and USB debugging.
9. Do not forget to backup your phone’s data first
Guide :
1. Extract the downloaded Odin zip file to your desktop and copy the twrp-3.1.0-0-hero2lte.img.tar file to there but do not extract the tar files.
2. Now turn off your Galaxy S7 Edge then press and hold the Volume Down + Home + Power keys at the same time until your phone booted into the Download mode. Then release the keys as soon as you see a blue screen with warning sign and press the Volume Up key.
3. When your phone gets into the Download mode, open the Odin folder and launch the Odin flash tool.
4. Now connect your Galaxy S7 Edge to your computer using a USB connector(MTP Cable).
5. The ID:COM port on Odin will be written "0:[COM]" once your device is detected.
6. Click the AP button in Odin and add the twrp-3.1.0-0-hero2lte.img.tar file to it.
7. Then Click the Options tab in Odin and un-tick Auto-Reboot.
8. Now click the Start button to trigger TWRP installation.
9. When TWRP is successfully installed at the ID:COM will be written "PASS!" message. Now you can disconnect the MTP cable.
10. Now press and hold the Volume Down + Home + Power buttons at the same time until your phones turn blank then swap to Volume Up + Home + Power key and hold as soon as the screen goes blank. Hold those 3 keys until you get into TWRP Recovery.
11. At this point, you will reach the screen asking if you want to allow system modifications. Swipe the swipable area.
12. Now tap Backup, tick System, Boot, and Data then choose sdCard. Then sit back for a while as the TWRP backing ur files up. The estimated time depends on your file's size.
13. After its done press back button again and again until you came to the very first interface of TWRP that you can interact with.
14. Tap the Install button in TWRP, click the Select Storage button and choose sdCard then locate your no-verity-opt-encrypt.zip and select it. Swipe the confirmation slider when prompted. (Note: In case you see the red text error in TWRP saying unable to mount storage, go to the main menu in TWRP and select Wipe> Format Data. After that, press back button then do this step again)
15. When it’s restarted, press again the Volume Down + Home + Power again to enter the TWRP.
16. Tap the Install button in TWRP, click the Select Storage button and choose sdCard then locate SuperSU.zip and select it. Swipe the confirmation slider when prompted
17. After its done tap the Reboot System button.
18. Now you can sit back and relax. It will take quite much time to set up for the first time. No need to be panic while you see the samsung logo keep blinking. Btw if u see the samsung rebooted twice, its okay, it should happen.
Enjoy

Which is why you should have an external sdCard with bigger memories than the internal storage..and back up it there...the message happened to me several times then I realize my sdCard filled about half of the free pace..and also u cannot put the BU files at internal storage..after u do that try to format data and clear the dalvik cache then these steps again

Is it really possible in this way?
install twrp -> backup system, data etc. -> format data and install no-verity-opt-encrypt.zip -> restore the backup -> flash supersu
And everything will work just like before?
Because i deleted all my data on my last phone and then restored it very complicated
With a twrp backup it would be much faster

hello,,, my phone shows a red screen when I try to open the recovery... it did not work... I would like to know how to remove it or install the correct recovery
@OP, it seems the link for S7 Edge are pointing to S7 link instead of https://dl.twrp.me/hero2lte/ which is available.
3. Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge (SM-G935F/FD) users should download this file: twrp-3.1.0-0-hero2lte.img.tar
Thanks for the guide, very useful.
Another note, on my S7 Edge, flashing HOME CSC gave me a 'enter password to start device', but had no password. Flashed CSC alone and everything went ok on reboot
