Touchwiz is nice and all but I would love to give the stock 4.0 dialer and mms apps a try. Would this break the build?
Also, could this be done after flashing with lets say... root explorer or adb?
oneclick ics sucks, too many bugs. Use a custom rom, team perfection, sky ice 4.0 by sean, and superlite 5.0 by mhx are good choices. All 3 have already replaced the mms. AOSP dialer can't be done, it'll probably just fc.
Thanks! Pretty much answered my question

Is it possible to get the HTC Keyboard on the AOSP 2.0.1 vanilla android rom? I've been trying and searching and all the htc_ime.apk files either can't install or force quit. Am I missing something or this can't be done yet?
NEVERMIND...xda is the best!
Out of curiosity, what's the solution here? I plan on running AOSP once one gets the camera working, but I hate the keyboard...

Ugh... I understand if you guys are new members and all but please do a search first. The HTC IME is based off of the HTC framework. It can't run without it and AOSP obviously doesnt have it. Also, we don't want to include the framework for two reasons. A), it's not open source. B), it bloats the **** out of the phone.
That said, Cyanogen did post a standalone HTC_IME.apk file for donut roms on the Dream forums back a while ago. It worked on his rom when I had a dream but I tried it on our AOSP 1.6 rom and it didnt work so I dont think it works anymore for whatever reason.
Just download ShapeWriter or BetterKeyboard. Two really good alternatives.
the HTCIME.apk is working for me on AOSP 2.0.1 (12.17.2009 version)
ok im trying to get the cm7 ics layout to work. ive tryed multiple times today but i cant seem to get it to work. Can someone lend a hand

thank you so much for who ever may help ill post the working ones in this thread right after so others can enjoy the nice ICS look
Which ROM are you using exactly?
I know it says 'cm7' in the title, but is it CM7 you're using, or a ROM based on it? And what version of it?
Edit: Or did you get it handled in the threads there?
I just downloaded Sonny's ICS CM7 theme from the market and use the stock ADW launcher. It themes the icons, Widgets, keyboard, all kinds of things. On his xda thread he has themes for other launchers but stock has been looking great. Very easy. I haven't flashed the new font but might.
I haven't screwed with the lockscreen.
G2x - 2.3.7 CM7
Transformer - 3.2 Revolver OC/UV
so far im using cm7 nightlies i do the flash and undo then flash again but still nothing D:
i am hoping to put the KOB4LT R3V4MP3D 4.1 ICS theme on my skyrocket. i have cwmr touch installed and i am rooted. i was running superlite with that theme but wanted to try the new stock leak. it is running a lot smoother an with less problems then superlite did. so i want to know if i can put it on a stock rom without screwing everything up.
Yes you can flash random things like the toggle mod, but I'm not sure if every mod will work perfectly though. Trial and error then nandroid

well u shouldn't be mismatching framework-res.apk's, as each from chef puts different configs in there from my understanding, but u can flash the systemui.apk without issue I would think, as well as some of the inverted and aosp apps included in that theme
I wish I had the knowledge to do this myself, but there are too many that are talented at this for me to mess up my phone. Is it possible for a fully INVERTED / DARK Theme / MOD on the new JB leak? I can find some things (GAPPS, a few system apps) but nothing that is complete. Battery life is much improved with the dark background, and every little bit helps to get JB good battery life (for me at least). Much appreciated if anyone can help!!!!
What inverted gapps are u using ?

the JB leak that you speak of is touchwiz...you can not flash gapps (which is built for AOSP ROMs) to a touchwiz ROM. This will make you have so many fc's or may even soft brick till you flash something else! for this to be done properly, you will have to invert framework-res.apk, twframework-res.apk, and all the apps that you want inverted! just thought i would let you know about the gapps thing!

This is from eschelon, it is just a xml code change. Change the true to false for inverted. Stock is black background just depends on what the dev prefers.
/system/csc/feature.xml -> <CscFeature_Email_UseFixedBgColorAsWhite>true</CscFeature_Email_UseFixedBgColorAsWhite>

if you switch to AOSP download the black exodus theme. its fantastic.
I would like a inverted TW rom!

Eclipse AOSP is a super clean ICS/JB looking theme(w/ cm10's circle battery) with black as much as possible and inverted apps. So I'm hoping his TW version has the same theme. I have his beta 2 version of the TW rom downloaded but not sure if I want to flash it. It's got a couple of annoying bugs, and I'm not sure if it has the theme yet. I can't stand the stock look of TW anymore, not since ICS, anytime before that and stock AOSP looked like crap and TW was a refreshing change.
I read a while back that "pimpmaneaton" was going to update his eyecandy theme to work with the new JB touchwiz, but so far no news as to when. This is the type of theme I am hoping for, because it doesn't have to be specific, as it uses VrTheme to change images, not the whole .apk . hope something shows up soon, the white backgrounds and touchwiz colored dialog boxes are driving me nuts.. :-/

I flashed that theme on d2tmo 4.1.1 and it worked. I didn't use any of the mods but it worked. I had a systemui crash so I replaced it with one I lime rebooted and it works great

Hello,
I am using an unofficial AOKP JB build (25 Nov 2012), and it works quite well. However, some stock apps on it are not to my tasting (e.g., phone, contacts, etc). I really liked the feel and look of those apps in good old Gingerbread. Is there any way I could install/use them in AOKP JB? As far as I know, the stock GB is odexed, and the AOKP JB is deodexed, so it is impossible just to swap the apps in /system/app.
I would appreciate any suggestions or comments. Thank you.

Depends - some of the touchwiz-specific ones will require edits to framework (and maybe services) and likely a few other places to retain full functionality. Were such edits in place you could then drop in (as AOKP is deodexed) any of the deodexed system apps (I would rexommend pulling them from the stock ICS build myself) into /system/app - there's a zip full of said deodexed apps in the Tweaked OP (1.x has GB ones, 2.x has ICS ones) if you get to that point.
I tried to use apps from stock deodexed 2.3.6, but it did not work. Do you think I will have more luck with apps from stock deodexed ICS? Do I just put deodexed *.apk in /system/app or there is more to it? At what stage are binaries and other relevant files created from apk? Thanks!

More luck... most likely. The issue will be when the new-to-AOKP apk starts calling methods that don't exist in the jellybean-based framework - it will likely be an iterative process of try it, fail but get a logcat, see why it failed, try to track down what was missing from a tw framework, throw it in the aokp framework, and try again - and then lather rinse repeat. And that is all assuming no hiccups hit along the way, which never seems to be the case. While it sounds pretty labor-intensive, and will likely make you want to pull your hair out, it can be pretty fun trying to figure it all out. Good luck!
