I'm very excited to flash Dwitherell's Tweaked v2.0 rom . I liked both the Minimal and ICS theme for Tweakstock. The best battery life I've seen with normal usage was on Tweakstock 1.4 and the 3/20 IfinityRom .

Look at the TweakStock screenshots. It looks identical, other than having more options.

Unfortunately I have been having a lot of trouble with my battery, on average my battery will last about 4 hours with minimal usage. It should last over night, but even after a 100% charge it dies by the morning. I have been on Tweak's 1.4 with PBnJ Kernal for a few weeks and I am attempting to calibrate it as I type this. Did you have to calibrate yours? And how long would your battery last if you don't mind?
Thanks.

That is extremely low battery life. Maybe you should try getting a replacement? Something is definitely defective there.

I flashed Eclipse 2.0 because I can't get with the Tweakstock Theme.
But on Tweakstock 1.4 with the PBJ Kernel I had excellent battery life. I'd wake up at 5 am and listen to music for about 2 hours. Throughout the day I would check my email , the weather or text between classes. By the time track practice started at 2:30 I would have 80%+ life . Then at 5 pm until like 7pm I would listen to music and come to a battery life of 70%+ . The key is turn off data and WIFI when you don't need them . I also use ScreenFilter Pro to adjust my screen brightness because my Display is always the biggest factor in my battery drainage.

I second that, sounds like a defective battery or something like that
Tweakstock 2.0 has great battery life for me. I easily get through a full day off of one charge. And that's with playing games and using bluetooth headphones to listen to music!
I am having bad battery life also, but this is just the first day with it. I have looked at one YouTube video and within 15 minutes I have dropped 10%.

Wow! You are definitely getting the most out of your battery. I will have to look into turning my data on and off since 4G eats a lot of battery and thanks for the app suggestion. My screen also is eats up more then 60%+ of the battery usage. I am still on Tweaks 1.4, but im about to upgrade to 2.0 when i get some time. If you don't mind me asking, what else makes you choose eclipse over tweak?

Yeah you're completely right. As I have heard from other users on this site, the phone measures the percentage directly from the voltage on the battery. So erasing your battery stats and the excessive charging and draining is not going to help.
Been running Tweaked 2.0 for a few days with zero issues. Anything I've wanted to do as far as customizations, etc, I've been able to do either through TSM Parts or TweakTools. Awesome stuff. And battery life is as good as it was when I was running Eclipse.
Please take notes guys, I have reiterated this FAR too many times, ROMs have almost nothing to do with battery life. It's almost solely based on the kernel, if you came from a ROM with PBJ to Tweaked2.0 then you would notice a difference whether better or worse since you'd now be on a stock kernel. ROMs can impact battery life if it's an AOSP ROM but since we don't have any of those it's majorly on the kernel. Don't make ROM decisions on battery life and don't "review" ROMs based on how good the battery life is either, please and thank you

My only reason for switching to Eclipse is the beautiful theme. I love the theme . Performance is great , I would like to give Tweaked 2.0 another run but I don't like the theme. I know it's a great ROM but I'm picky about interfaces.

I really hate creating these threads because it makes me look likr a complete noob but I can' figire this out for the life of me. I bought the charge thinking I could use it for a day and change but I have yet to experience this awesome battery life. Even when I got my first day, the battery life was horrible and even after its first charge, it wasnt any better. Do I just have a bad battery or something?
Heres what I remember doing:
-Flash gummycharge day 2 of owning phone (1.8.5) novoodoo kernal
-An issue came up where I couldnt press my power button without the phone freezing
-so at this point I reverted back to a stock ee2 rom
-i then flashed gummycharged once again (same as above)
-after flashing, I charged my battey up, shutdown, wait for 100%, repeat 3x to wipe battery stats/calibrate my battery
So I unplugged my phone at 5:00pm and it is now 7:07pm. In two hours with about an hour of browsing, my phone is at 73%. I have nothing on any of my homescreens just to be sure it wasnt consuming the battery, cdma automatic instead of 4g lte since my area does not support it yet and manual brightness at 15%.

Download humble 1.25 and your battery woes will be no more my son....
Will take you suggestion and try it out tonight. I dont mean to derail my own thread but is it possible that when I flashed back to stock ee2, it caused my signal to decrease even though I put gummycharged over it later? Ever since I had to reflash because of the power button issue, I noticed a decrease in signal strength (from mid 80s to high 90s). Sorry for all the questions!

Hi,
I saw your Humble ROM and was considering installing it to try to improve battery life as we'll.
What about your ROM conserves battery over the stock rom?
Now that p3droid released 2.3.4 I will certainly have to try it, do you plan to make a version of Humble using this new base?
Thanks for your work, I really am loving this new phone!

Thats the thing. I haven't been doing anything other than browsing. I only went to class and browsed for maybe 2 hours max. Everything else is 2% ish other than the dolphin hd browser. If I look at the battery stats, the display is the only thing thats depleting the battery really. I'm starting to think its because I have weak coverage in my area.

I've had similar battery issues with two different Charge units running each ROM/Kernel (except GB). I also live in a weak coverage area where I average 1 to 2 bars, sometimes dropping to 0 and i'm convinced this has to be it. I had written this idea off initially because I previously had ATT and the same weak coverage with them, but nowhere near the same abnormal battery drain...so I guess there must be a difference between the way CDMA and GSM operate in this respect? I'm in a 3G only area and keep the phone locked to CDMA/Auto also.

I am running 1.25 and have had absolutely no improvement to my battery life (strong 4g area in SoCal).
I've just resigned to the fact that I'll get 6-7 hours (even on an extended battery, same results) and have to charge once or twice a day.
Coming from the fascinate I honestly think the battery life is better. Although I turned lte off since we don't have any coverage for it yet. My mind will probably change when we get it. Running stock ee4 rooted with voodoo kernel. My father is running the same thing and also came from the fascinate, he completely agrees.

I had really bad battery life on my phone running the stock rom and gummycharged. With the phone sleeping and only data on, I was losing at least 5% an hour.
I switched to Humble a week ago and my battery life is exceptional. I am ususally looking at 24 hrs with 4g on and longer with it off.
If you do a lot of browsing and keeping your screen on, your battery is going to burn quickly. No matter what ROM you are using. If it's draining a lot of battery in sleep, flash Humble.

Dude, this isn't the fix. I'll flash Humble 1.25 right now and prove to you that it doesn't fix battery issues. Yes, it's less of a battery hog than the other available ROMs, but flashing Humble 1.25 will not fix your battery gremlin.
I wish Danalo, imnuts and the other gurus would spend more time figuring out this battery gremlin. Charging your battery to 100% then wiping battery stats through CWR doesn't work either. I've tried it countless times.

Don't give up so soon. The battery life on the Charge can be amazing and I know from experience. My experience also shows that there are funky battery issues that pop up when flashing various crap. Flashing an Odin bundle has not worked for me, at all. Wiping battery stats has not worked.
I was running GummyCharged 1.5 with the PBJT kernel and voodoo enabled and got 17+ hours of medium-hard use EASILY. Since then, I flashed the original GB leak, Gummy, Humble, Stock... I cannot figure out what the heck is going on, my battery life is still crap.

It really sounds like signal issues to me. My Charge handles weak mobile signals better than my Thunderbolt, but any cell phone will really crank up the juice draw looking for a tower if it can't find one. In my north county office, my Thunderbolt will drain 25% per hour if I don't keep it near the window where it can get a better signal.
You need to post a lot more details.
Are you on wifi or mobile data? Are you 3G or 4G area? How strong is your 3G/4G signal?
Have you dug into the battery use screens to see what's up?
Grab Spare Parts from the Market if your ROM doesn't have it and look into it's battery statistics...things like wake-locks will really kill the phone.

I am on Bamf Remix 1.8.6 with the desense script, and the aosp roms i tried were cm7 and omfgb. Although that's an obvious solution. There's more he can try before he goes to spend the money for an extra battery. I honestly don't see a need for an extended battery and I play around on my phone all day. When I get in the car charge it. When Im at home on the pc charge it.
I definitely get better battery life on Froyo sense than aosp gb. I, personal, think I get the best battery life on a stock version. I'm currently running the rooted OTA and the OTA MR2 radio and am getting great battery life (4g off, don't have it in my area till the end of the month).
I wish CM7 got good battery life. I like it better than any ROM I've tried, but can't get over the battery drain. It's ok though, I like Sense a lot too.
But you know what they say: To each his own.
to each his own is right
But on the same platform (froyo vs gb) i just dont think you are going to get tremndous variations in battery life. There may be an outlier rom that uses it quickly by most of the roms are in the same ballpark. i think we are talking about squeaking out an extra 20-30 mins which is not nothing but 8+ hours of a battery charge i would be more inclined to go with whatever rom i like best. When GB is released for real, then we may see some improvements across the board.

I have to agree. CM7 has been way better than any other rom i've tried.
CM7 with Kang Bang does best on mine, but you can't compare sense froyo to aosp GB. That's too many different factors. That's a different framework, different kernel structure, different ROM. How do you know what the culprit is?
I'm running BAMF 1.8.6 as well on standard battery.
I just charge at night, take the phone to the car or motorcycle for commute and place on charger. When at work, I have another USB charger with micro USB cable. Charge when at desk. Reverse procedure for drive home.
Battery is great when only off the charger for ~4 hours per day. :-|
It seems that sense battery life is better. I've been on cm7 for a couple weeks now and my battery will be nearly dead by this time every day. So I'm getting 5 to 6 hourz max with cm7. I'm on gingertheory now with dream kernel and setcpu running a few profiles, battery life is at 70%. May have been using it a little less today but still that's a big difference.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk
Getting the 2750mah extended was the best investment you can make into this phone, hands down. If your phone goes naked, then the difference in thickness is not that bad. In fact I love the new added thickness. It keeps my camera lens off the surface when I put it down flat. Not to mention it adds a certain heftyness that just exudes quality.
Sadly though I got an unlucky battery cover which creeks if you squeeze just a smidge on the sides
Other than that, man is it great. I can go about 48 hours without charging on CM7.1. At the end of the 48 hours, my screen would have been on for roughly 5-6 hours. That means nearly 3 hours of screen on time a day. If you sleep for 8 hours a day, that leaves 16 hours of awake time. 3/16 means nearly 20% of my time awake was spent looking at my phone. Hardly minimum usage, and if its not considered heavy then I fear for future generations. Screw these kids today 12 years old with a smartphone lol. I didn't get my first cellphone till I was a senior in highschool (2004) and even then, it was a crumby flipphone just for the sake of making calls and in case I was in trouble.
Anyone know any working battery tweaks for Valhalla rom? I came from ICBINB froyo and battery life seem to last much longer before.

No matter what gb rom u r on battery life is far more efficient then froyo u nd to use ur phone til battery dies charge over night till 100% 4200m and calibrate with battery calibration app from the market after that will take 24hrs or so to take effect and calibrate i have flashed all gb roms and all froyo as well and see a huge diff in battery life
FINALLY MADE THE SWITCH TO 2.3.4 AND LOVING IT!!!!!!
I notice that most of you guys are comparing GB to stock froyo, which is unfair because of the bloat ware and froyo is not at it's full potential. What I want to know is how froyo and gingerbread ROM stack up against each other in custom full custom ROM for battery life.
For all you guys on Valhalla. What is the max battery life you guys have gotten with this ROM?

First calibration, 32 hours with 4 hours screen on time.
So far for me, Froyo rooted, debloated, and running Juice Defender, has given me the best battery life, with just over 79hours as my record. That was with barely any use though. I usually get between 24 and 48 hrs with regular use though.
I've only been on Valhalla for a couple of days now, and with JD, I got 55 hours on this last charge with some light use, but I'm not sure it was started with a true 100% full battery.
Charging it now, and will see how it fares over the next couple of days.
Just posted about this on the GB V6 Tweaks thread....had 29% batt left after 44 hours with Dsex UV settings and V6 tweaks flashed over Valhalla....posted screenshot at link below.

Also just in case anyone was wondering, if you want to use dsexton's UV settings, you need to flash his v6 tweaks. I tried his uv settings without the tweaks, and my phone froze up, lol.
Trying a new set of mild UV tweaks right now, hopefully I'll get through a full charge without problems.
I don't think you need an app from the market to recalibrate your battery. There should be an option in CWM recovery to clear the battery data. The phone should then recalibrate over the next few charges.

Thanks for the input everybody, looks like the general consensus is battery will last much longer in Froyo rom. Its too bad, I just love this rom soo much.

Not my experience.....GB battery life definitely exceeds froyo on my s4g

Which is better for the charge?
About same. No huge difference. I have a spare so I don't worry too much about it.

but is there any kernal out that support OC and undervolting? i cant seem to get SETCPU to work.
Technically Gingerbread manages everything better than Froyo and is better for battery life but because of all the ROM's and kernels available to us it's really a toss-up. I personally run Gummycharged Gingerbread because it is ridiculously fast, supports everything, and is great on battery. On a previous Gummycharged GB I was able to pull 2 days on a single charge with light-normal usage; like doing everything except playing games.

excellent life for me on Gummy GB, i get a full day on average depending on what I do though let me clarify a 'day' for me is about 16+ hours from when I get up till I get home and/or go to sleep... either way I think even with OC/UV on froyo I do better on GB but I always end up back on froyo for the themes lol
I've had better battery life on GB than on Froyo. It's anecdotal, but it's what I've observed. On top of that, Juice Defender works on GB, so you can make the battery that much better. With JD Ultimate with some aggressive settings and careful use, I could pull a day and a half out of the battery.

Glad to hear you make the differentiation and say JD works on GB... I run a rooted Froyo and tried JD last week. The data radio would not come back on when I brought the phone out of sleep state. Had to re-boot to get data back.

You're right that it does not work on Froyo. There's a bug tracker on the Latedroid website about it. They said last week that it would never work with Charge on Froyo due to a "terrible bug" as they put it. I've tried different combos of ROM and radio on the phone and the problem has nothing to do with the radio and everything to do with the Charge Froyo Touchwiz implementation.

someone had already asked about this and it was confirmed that battery is diff better on froyo they actual took a poll and everything and about 85% of users was having major battery issues on gingerbread.

You couldn't have failed anymore in this statement. For a lot of reasons. First of all, users that experience major battery issues with Gingerbread fail at flashing or calibrating the battery. Second of all, you're comparing it to a completely different phone! That isn't even a Charge! How can you even put that on our forums? Troll elsewhere.

I have tried a few EE4 & a few GB ROMs & I don't see much difference in battery life myself.
GB is certainly not WORSE than FROYO & may be slightly better. The difference is really negligible however, all ROMs get basically the same battery life - it is the kernel that can make a difference & even then it isn't all that much.

And honestly it depends on your usage, if i just check for text messages once or twice an hour for the day, from 7AM - 5PM, i can have 44% Battery life left.
If i use some web browsing, and am texting every 30 mins or so, i'll be down to 20% Battery by 5PM.
If im watching youtube vids and using 4G, i'll be barely getting by at like 5% battery by 5PM.
I've tried danalo's HumbleComb ROMs, both -Froyo and -Gingerbread based. I believe he used IMoseyON's kernels on both ROMs.
I've battery tested both (battery consumption while fully configured and sitting idle - email and other minor background bandwidth consumers), and the battery drain was basically identical between the ROMs.
I saw a static drain of 2%/hour on both ROMs, which would be almost 2 days of battery life if the phone sat idle with minor background consumption.
With moderate use, I can easily make a full day on either HumbleComb ROM.
danalo's ROMs are pretty darned fast, to boot - Quadrant scores of 2040 on my HC4 GB loaded phone (Note: The Quadrant scores were faster before all my stuff was loaded on the phone).
And, danalo's HC4 GB ROM is pretty darned fast to boot, too - slightly under a minute (The -Froyo based ROMs were closer to 2 minutes).
Cheers,
¿GJ?
so what is the differnce in FroYo and GB?

i need help with this, im still pretty new to the whole root/overclock/unervolting thing. currently running gummycharged 2.1 with PBJ and V6 supercharger. Have voltage control maxed at 1200 set on VR and ondemand.
1200 -25
1000 -75
800&400 - 100
200&100 - 150
those are all number i have found that other have been using saying they get 14hours battery life. but in the last hour ive had my phone unplugged ive dropped to 76% battery.
Does anyone have any advice for me?

Ditch gummy. Use a ROM based on EP4D. Also, try to see if you can get more unvdervolting. Here's what I got:

Should I still use PBJ cause thats the only I've found so far the supports voltage control or setCPU

Also do a battery calibration after flashing a new ROM, turn off background data, and turn off auto brightness. All this will help considerably with battery life.
How do I do a battery calibration?

Download the battery calibration app from the market. Just search "Battery Calibration" and it will provide you with the necessary instructions.

It's always seems to be the most obvious solutions. Lol.
Unless that's directed at me for saying something wrong?
each phone is different so be careful when undervolting. i tried to set 1200 to -125 and my phone completely crashed and i had to do a factory reset. I'm actually on IMO kernel which doesnt suppost voltage control but after calibrating i got a good 13-14 hours, granted there werent many phone calls which eats up most of ur battery life, but i was playing games alot, downloaded some apps n such. I figure since i read that imnuts is working on an update to fix a couple issues with pjb ill just stick with IMO until the new pjb is posted. Im also using tweakstock, so maybe u should try that ROM, gummy (from waht ive heard) is pretty outdated at this point. depending on what theme u like id chhose between tweakstock and eclipse. both r very stable.

Hey Imnuts already released the new kernel which fixed the 720p recording and added some more features. Check it out. Version 0130.

You can't really calibrate the battery, it will always report the same voltage for a given % charge, within a certain margin of error. Wiping battery stats has been shown to do nothing relating to the indicator of the battery remaining, and is almost always part of a "battery calibration".

Interesting. So it's just to give a semi-accurate percentage of battery remaining based off of the voltage given by the battery?

It's not just normal battery loss, it's EXTREME! I usually get 12-13 hours on one battery.

Your battery will always seem wonky after a flash. At least in my experience it takes some time for your phone to "get used to" the battery. Almost always it seems the 2nd day with a new ROM lasts longer than the first. And the 2nd week better than the first week.
