While everyone is speaking of the 1.28 OTA update for the One X I wonder if there is something similar announced for the One S?

As far as I know Google will release the new version of Android OS some time in the mid this month.

Welcome to XDA! Nothing official on a date but maybe by the end of Oct.
What device are you using and planning to upgrade?
i personally wont expect it for months yet. even more so to be ported to existing devices.

Froyo was running / ported on the motorola droid within a week of the Google I/O announcement. The nexus one had it officially released 24 hours or so after the announcement.
Any build of 3.0 will get ported to most major phones (well the phones that aren't locked down, thanks so much moto droid 2 / X and the new HTC g2) in less then a week from any build released.
I thought the rumoured date was Nov. 11th or something like that
No source because i forget where i got that one from
This might shed some light

Translate it, enjoy.
I heard that android 4 has been released, anyone knows if we can update our devices? (and how?)
we will be able to upgrade, given 2 scenarios: htc makes an official update - wouldn't count on it, at least not if you not intend to be 150 years old; someone ports the software from a nexus. most probably you'll see it as CM8. but first google needs to release it, so far only some googlers have access to it, but at least it works on nexus s phones already, hence i gve cyanogenmod the best chances to come up with it first

No, not yet. There are currently no ROMs available out in the open with ICS. The first one to come out will be on the new Samsung Galaxy Nexus.
Here, Read this.
CM8 was for honeycomb but that was only for tablets and apparently not released by google. Ive read that ICS will be released and will be ported and released as CM9.
Unknown I guess is whether there will be a stable release for desire s...
What are the odds that the One X will get an official update to Android 4.1/Jelly Bean? This is my first Android device so I'm not sure what to expect as far as updates.
Pretty good imo

Considering it's the latest generation flagship device from a major manufacturer, it's almost guaranteed to get 4.1 at some point.
Agreed with every else's responses. This is a flagship device and Jelly Bean is supposed to be released soon-ish (by the end of the year I think?). It's pretty much guaranteed.
And even if we don't get an official update, there's no doubt there will be custom jb roms out for it eventually.
Most HTC devices seem to get at least one major Android version update. And as other have noted, the One X is their a flagship device, so its highly likely. Unfortunately, AT&T is infamous for being slow to release software updates. Although they seem to be getting a bit better (the Vivid update came pretty quickly).

This is the beauty of Android. It doesn't matter if we get it from Google or not. We will get it one way or another.

Perhaps they will release source after this???
lol they are preparing Jelly Bean already but still haven't released the source for ICS yet?? Ridiculous.
Already multiple threads on this...
Wasn't this obvious? They've had the pdk for months. No time line no news Imo

How is this...
"HTC is preparing an update but is yet to confirm the date it will be submitted for Telstra testing"
Any different than this...
“We are excited about Android Jelly Bean and are planning to support it across a variety of our devices. We are reviewing the software to determine our upgrade plans and schedule, so please stay tuned for more updates on specific device upgrade plans.”
The reason Telstra singled out the XL and S is because it's the two HTC phones they sell that are obvious candidates for JB. Does anyone think any of the One's won't receive JB at some point?
I previously had an HTC hero and was thouroughly annoyed by the time it took them to release their branded Android updates and so went to a Nexus S for my next phone. In fact HTC drew a line in the sand and decided not to update the Hero after ver x.x.x
However, I have heard that both Samsung and HTC are much better than they were.
Would anyone like to comment on who is best?
Do they still only update for a certain length of time? For example, will they continue to release updates for the S3/One X for the next 24 months, considering how long they ahve been out for?
