I have installed Valhalla final and noted that during boot, there second and subsequent screens following there initial t-mobile Samsung screen are scrambled. It looks likea video driver issue. There same thing happens wheni try to boot to recovery.
I thinki need to reflash, but obviously can't. Odd therea way to do it on download mode?
willI have to go back to original factory?

Wrong section put this in the Q&A section and the rainbow you are seeing is due to the fact that you probably don't have GB boot loaders

Better to never start threads in Dev section unless you are a developer. Follow second link in my signature and flash with bootloaders. Read all - notes included for your benefit.

Tried to send a PM but no luck. Your post , which I appreciated, referred to a link in your signature for a bootloader, which unfortunately was not attached. I have been unable to find a bootloader and need to locate one and learn to install it. Any help anyone has would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the link. For clarification, will this mean starting over with Heimdal, or do I install Heimdal One Click and pick up with installing only the bootloaders? I hope this doesnt sound hopelessly noobish, but the OP for Valhalla a final said nothing about bootloaders. My last phone was a Vibrant, and the ROMs I flashed were complete.

If you have a new phone you started on Froyo. You flashed a GB ROM. You need GB bootloaders. You need to start from the beginning to be able to flqwh bootloaders. You flash one, then on second flash you will be aboe to check the flash bootloader box.
After first flash, when linda is finished talking to you - you will boot into the rainbow screen. Pull battery, go into download mode and proceed to second flash.
So if I al ready have flashed Valhalla, I am going back to the beginning?

You follow the guide then reflash Valhalla in CWM.
Smiles....thank you!

You are welcome. Just remember - never start threads in the dev section. Stay on Gingerbread ROM's (Valhalla Final, Valhalla Black, etc) since you will have Gingerbread Bootloaders when you are finished with the guide. There are Froyo ROM's (Black Ice, etc) in the dev section. Know before flashing. And hit thanks.

So I had GB bootloaders and 2.3.4 installed on it. I was browsing through the forum and really liked Raver's Redux rom, but totally blacked out i have to change bootloaders back to Froyo ( still no idea how to ). So my phone got into a bootloop. The problem is, i tried to flash the phone back to GB rom, and was doing it using ODIN, and brother plucked the usb cable off during the flashing process. Now everytime i try to turn it on, it has a yellow triangle that says" Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. PLease select recovery mode in KIes and try again. " Tried Kies, no use. The same screen appears when i try to get into a download mode, tried usb jig . same screen. WHat should i do from here? i am out of ideas.
OK, i flashed Stock GB rom with Odin, even the dwld mode didn't appear on phone screen, but ODIN read it and i got a connection in with it. Now its on a bootloop again. It goes into the recovery menu (3e). Says E:Failed to mount /data (INvalid Argument). What should i do from here??? THanks
NVM , I got it working now But i still want that Redux rom My question is : how do i get back to Froyo Bootloaders? A specific instruction would be really helpful, what to tick and not on ODIN , etc... Thanks
Flash kd1 or Odin ravers kc1 with all 4 files. You'll have the froyo bootloaders. There at guides out there if you search. I'm in my phone, so I can't link then. Sorry.if you have trouble, let me know and I'll walk you through it

Do you have CWM recovery installed?
Hi
If you're already on GB, then you probably have the right bootloaders. Are you rooted? If so, then you have little to do. Just follow the SGS 4G bible and the opening post of the thread related to the ROM you want to go to.

careful, KF roms had jacked bootloaders that can cause problems. You want to start with a later rom build, like a KG or KH rom. Follow the guide HolyGhostBoy posted above with FB's Ext4 starter pack, and you'll be good to go.
Yeah FB GB starter pack if your coming from either kf build. Good luck with download mode though, you will probably need adb to get there.

Well only reason he was giving you precautionary tips was because you needed to create a whole thread on where to get ROM's when the Dev section is just a couple spots under the General section...

True. Im thankfull 4 any advice n tips. Ive just used one click root for mac though it seems i didnt root. I hold down volume n power n it seems like it restores me back to stock.
I will be nice and point you in the direction you need. Look up NVflash this is how you get cwm. Unlike most phones you can flash the recovery before you get root. Make sure you do a backup of the stock rom and keep a copy on your computer. Then flash what ever rom you wish.
By keeping your stock unrooted back up will allow easy restore of stock system and the use of nvflash to go back to stock recovery if warranty is ever needed.

Thank Scooter and follow the links he gave you. You don't really need to achieve root in able to flash ROM's for this phone. You just need CWM via NVFlash and you're good to go.
To put it onto perspective, NVFlash is kinda like Odin.

+1 for funniest thread tonight, and since I feel like crap and this made me guffaw, that's a +10.
Hey guys, I'm on a Rogers i896 using i897 boot loaders and I get weird images on the first boot screen before the kernel image & boot image appears. They look like static/distorted images (best description sorry). This first happened when I decided to load ATT GB back when that leaked before rogers firmware was out. That was corrected when i reverted back obviously. But the steps i followed to install my first ICS rom required i use Odin and flashed some i897 packages with a cwm enabled kernel to proceed any further. Im now an ICS flash addict and I've learned to deal with it as I've searched high and low for a solution without any luck. I know I've seen this issue somewhere else and I hate to create another thread but I would really appreciate any input from some more experienced users. =)

U need to flash (through Odin/Heimdall) the i897 "Gingerbread" Bootloaders.
See TRusselo's Guide that is a Stickied Thread in the Q & A Forum.
He has a link there for the GB Bootloaders.
That will solve the pixelated screen issue.

afaik, root or rooted packages require a computer.
if you're looking for a how to do it..see my how to thread
..
My phone is already rooted though. I am just trying to go back to stock and keep my phone rooted without using a computer can you help me with that?

I am not aware of a CWM flashable back-to-stock zip. You need to use a computer and either Odin or Heimdall it back. Qkster said to look at his thread and I recommend following that advice. His Heimdall package works pretty well.

dman's uclb3 CWM flashable
I have never used it, but dman's uclb3 is CWM flashable. You might want to read the thread carefully as always.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=22775901
When I asked recently about the confusing (to me) comments about video near the beginning of that thread, it was clarified that video depends on the kernel, and those comments do not apply if you have the latest GB kernels from Entropy or Zen ( which have no video problems)
Others are welcome to chime in if I have missed something important.
Man, I've been through about every post there is about the infuse on every site you can imagine. You know you're at the right place when every other site either quotes somebody from here or just straight up links you back to xda. If you can't find what you're looking for with a simple search on here then you shouldn't be doing what you're trying to do or you have a truly unique problem which is rare.
To get to the point, I don't think you can flash back to stock from cwm but if you succeed in doing so, please post your results and how you did it. If you're trying to fix a bad flash or getting the phone ready to sell or for any other reason, there is no replacing odin in my opinion. I know that flashing a ROM from cwm is super easy, but odin is just a hair less easy. Even if you have to borrow a computer, it should take no more than 10 minutes including download time. Thats my two cents. Take it or leave it. Best of luck to you.

Jelly bean ROMs use a different system partition that cwm can't change. If you flash the stock ROM you will get stuck at the Samsung screen.
If you are in jelly bean you need to Odin or heimdall back to stock.

No worries, I wasn’t taking offense to your comments. I was fishing for information about possible limitations of dman's uclb3 CWM flashable GB package (That info did come later in csandman1977’s post where he identified that package won’t work when coming from Jelly Bean.). Please don't hesitate to share your experience and thoughts here.

I think you’re talking about dman's uclb3 CWM flashable.
As identified by csandman above, it won’t work coming from Jelly Bean. I’m not sure about ICS.
I’m pretty sure it would work fine coming from any Froyo or GB Rom.
