[Q] ICS reboot to cwm recovery option?? fix found

is there a software or shortcut that can be used in ICS
to reboot to cwm recovery like we had in previous roms
or software like quick boot/rom manager (have tried these but transformer just reboots)
on a side note I am well aware how to get into cwm via key presses
and some developer will advance the power off options in the near future
just looking for the lazy option
as i guess we will be trying a lot of different roms/updates over the coming days and weeks
thanks

galaxy tab 7.0 plus p6200 experts please COME IN!

i saw this guide here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1367249
will it work in my galaxy tab 7.0 plus p6200? my device has the WIFI option thingy, i need answers please
i want to try to root my tab later. When i accidentally brick my tab
maybe i can replace it ( my tab is still under device replacement )
and please post a link on a tutorial in applying the BEST ROM
for my tab.
In the tutorial in the link in step 2:
"2. Transfer the attached file root.zip to the EXTERNAL CARD on Galaxy Tab Plus"
do i need a memory card for that? or thus the external memory is referring to my PC? and what is backing up my CWM?
Other question
1. Just incase that i brick my tab can you give me some advice on
what to do? ( i have a few knowledge in tab when it comes to rooting ) a
link for unbricking tutorial would be nice.
2. What can i do when i root my tab? please post link too so that
i can apply it on my tab too.
SORRY for the QUESTIONS guys. i am new in rooting and i want to root my device as soon as possible. Thank You.
yeah..me too. I just bought GTplus so i thought i want to root it..thank in advance.
If you were to brick something less critical like the firmware, you can just odin back to stock or refpash your nandroid backuo

Steps for Rooting the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus
If you already have all the requirements for rooting your Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus 3G P6200, you can now move on to the rooting instructions. Below are the rooting instructions. Remember to follow them carefully. If you are not sure about this, don’t do it or you might brick your device in the process. Also, remember that we do not guarantee that these instructions will work for you. Proceed at your own risk.
Here’s how to root your Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus:
Install the latest version of Samsung Kies. Get it from here.
Download the rooting file to your PC. Get the ZIP file from here:
Connect your tablet to your PC. Copy the ZIP file to your tablet’s external SD card.
Power off your tablet.
Reboot the device into recovery mode by holding the Volume Up button along with the Power button. As soon as you see the Samsung logo on your screen, let go of the Power button but keep the Volume Up button pressed.
Once your tablet has booted in recovery mode, select the option to install update from external storage.
Locate the root.zip file in your external storage. Select the file by pressing the Power button.
The rooting process will begin. When it finishes, reboot your device.
Go to the Android Market and search for the SuperUser app. Install the app and update the SU binary.
Install the BusyBox app from the Android Market.
Your Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus 3G P6200 is now rooted. You can now tweak and further customize your tablet by installing custom ROMs.
Note: I tried to Install the BusyBox app from the Android Market but it seems like it's not doing anything.

Install custom recovery then flash the Galaxy ROM HD.

also, when making major changes like that, its best to do a "factory reset", which should be an option available in Recovery Mode.
"Why would that help?", well, Android is a modular OS, composed of lots of different apps. Most of these apps store their current settings in your device's /data partition. Generally, when booting up, the various parts all try to launch and then check to see if there are stored settings available for use. If there are, the apps try to load those settings and use them. If you have suddenly changed from one ROM to another, many of these apps are going to be different versions, often different enough to cause the old settings to not work right.
When you do a "factory reset", (among other things) the /data partition is erased, so the apps all get a chance to write their own fresh settings, and thus your device will actually be able to boot up
this doesnt belong in development section..

even for my galaxy r, back button is not working. I was using stock gingerbread. i flashed cyanogenmod nightly and back button doesnt work. so its hardware issue. and my menu button gets executed on its own. so if i can disable these hard keys and get the soft buttons on the screen itself, it wuld solve the problems. help me do it..

Dont panic buddy. be Calm.
Answer these questions:
1) Is you softkeys(Lightning ones) working when you were on GB..?
2) Did you mess up with anything while installing..?? what you did brief your track.
3) Hardware keys are on screen, it may be enabled from Setting. But let give feedback of above 2 questions.
back button problem solved
It was not working in gingerbread too. So i flashed cyanogenmod nightly. However I have found some temporary solution, it was probably hardware issue.
Using ES File explorer or any file manager that has root access, go to system and mount R/W
Open build.prop in text editor
go to the end of the file and add this line
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
save and exit and reboot
when u reboot u will get soft keys in ur screen only so u can use those soft screen instead of hardware buttons and for disabling the hardware buttons u can easily do if u r in cyanogenmod

[Q] Need help problem with soft keys

Hi there,
I have Htc Explorer with custom ROM sense 4 and philz touch recovery. I am facing soft keys problem they work perfectly in recovery but not in ROM/OS. Sometime they work but most of the time they don't. Kindly suggest me a solution. My Soft keys are working that is what I know for sure because they work fine in recovery.
One more question how to fix permissions in philz touch recovery because I don't see any option in this recovery to fix the permissions according to my knowledge maybe I am wrong. Do let me know if anyone knows the option of fixing permissons in philz touch recovery or any other good method.
Waiting for your kind reply,

Hmmm..... I have another fix: in build.prop at the bottom type: qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
Reboot and you should get on-screen keys. That'll work until u get ur problem fixed
I haven't used Philz in so long but if there's an advanced settings menu check there
