Best ICS rom? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

I just got my phone back and currently am running gb. I'm planning on flashing ics when I get home but I wasn't sure what the best option to flash was. There are like 5 solid ics roms and I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of a solid ics rom which could work successfully as my daily driver. Thanks
Sent from my SGH-I727 using XDA

Short answer: all of them are daily drivers. They all are ICS deliciousness. Read up on all of them. Thats your best bet.

Keep in mind, the *best* ROM varies from person to person.
That being said, Check this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=943
For AOSP Roms, I personally like Liquid Smooth. Fast, stable ROM
and its been themed/skinned to look a great deal like Ice Cream Sandwich.
CyanogenMod 7 is another popular ROM for T-Bolt. Even tho it's not "officially"
supported, it appears to work just fine.
(Liquid Smooth is the ROM I'm currently running).
If you like SENSE Roms, the BAMF series seems to be quite popular and
the IKream series also looks great.
I personally suggest that you hack the phone with Revolutionary, then
do a full backup with ClockWorkMod. After that, you can flash all the ROMs
you want with a simple restore to put you back to stock.
Since you're experimenting with ROMs, I suggest you stick with ROMs that
do not require a new Radio. Radio's can brick your phone and there are plenty
of ROMs out that work with the Stock Radio.
Good Luck!
I really like Liquid Smooth 3.2. Its super fast and looks amazing. It's much like CM7 but I like it better. I rarely have force closes or any bugs at all.
Liquid 3.2 for AOSP with IMO's latest kernel. Don't forget to run speedtweak.sh after installing kernel.
Infected eternity Sense 3.5 with 3d custom Rosie and CPU running at 1.5.
If you like sense 2.1, well than you have no taste lol.
i have liquid smooth 3.2 installed and it run very nicely... i was wondering if anyone knows where to find some nice themes for this rom? i did a search but i cant seem to find any themes for this rom, is there a ICS theme available?
I use infected eternity 3.5 and love it. Good fast Rom with plenty of support.

The absolute BEST ROM (for me!) is the one I run. The BEST ROM for your cousin will be the one he likes.
I run Eternity, I also like Liquid Smooth and (oddly enough) I also like the stock ROM but rooted and de-crapified.
i personally like DV's miui but its not the stablest yet.

I am about to flash Eternity because of all the awesome things I have heard about it! I had Gingeritis 3D, but it's just too slow for for me after being on it for 2 months.
I can very highly recommend ThunderStick Full Blown if you want a Sense 3.0 ROM.
Using IMO's new 6.1 leanKernal, the MR4 radio... this thing is amazing.
So smooth, no lag whatsoever, and amazing battery life. I believe its the best Sense 3.0 ROM I've tried yet.

There always has to be one of these guys ^, the self appointed search police (btw, your link pops up "no matches" for me).
Some guys read every post ever posted, and complain about all of the ones not interesting enough for them. Rom's change on a daily basis, and there was absolutely nothing wrong with this thread. Even though I have had my TB since it was released, and have followed this forum ever since, I am still interested to see others opinions on CURRENT ROM's. That is why I opened this thread, why did you?
To the OP, I dual boot Gingeritis 1.2 (mainly because it came with the miui bar, even though pvy's app can be had separately in the market now) and CM7 (need it for work).
IMHO The best most stable is Eternity. It also has the best support
The best is the one that gives you the features you need. Everyone has different needs and taste

[Q] Instability of ICS Leak

I switched over to the ICS leak and I have been experiencing a lot of instability. Many different apps f/c all the time. The phone freezes everytime I open the dialer or some other apps. Sometimes I have to shut it down to bring it back. I was wondering if this is because of the ICS leak and are there any alternatives out there. Also what are the trade offs for those alternatives.
I used to be on rooted stock and my phone had the freezing problem but it was not as bad.
Essentially, what can I get to be rooted and functional with limited trade offs.
That's the nature of using a leaked rom. If you want stability, go back to GB. Easy peasy.
Tried all ics roms but sky 4.2D-10 and smooth ice 5.1.. wondering if either one of them have the speed and responsiveness gb has. I hate that i press the home button and it doesnt go instantly. Does anyone know if either one of these do ? or should i stay with GB too.
Just go to gb till official builds please I'm tired of you noobs this doesn't work why can't I have bln my lights don't work right. Its a leak a test software its not meant for actual use if you can't accept the issues stick to stock Jesus christ

I apologize for having offended you but that is not my expectation. To clarify my question. I am asking whether other users are experiencing this instability or if its device specific. I did mention that I had problems with the device before upgrade so I am also trying to determine if I have a hardware issue. I am also trying to expand my knowledge about the builds that are out there.

Yes, you're not the only one.
I'm back on GB also.
In my case, it was issues with a few apps working, but being slightly buggy. Just enough so, to be irritating.
Not quite ready for ICS, or vice-versa.
At least with UCALC4.
I never got a chance to try UCLD2, since it broke bluetooth for me.

I still consider myself a noob but have been having a great time on sky ice 4.2d10. I haven't been having any real issues that I wasn't able to fix. Very stable.
The key to being a highly functional noob is read the s*#t out of the posts for any rom you're interested in. Once you do that reread it 20 more times.

I think Sky 4.2 is the most popular. That's the one I'm on right now. I'm using the UCALC4 radio because the UCLD2 one seemed to drain my battery. I haven't tried Smooth ICE yet, but I used his previous UCALC4 version and it was great. The only reason I uninstalled was b/c UCALC had the google contacts sync problem. If Sky Ice starts acting up on me, I will try Smooth Ice 5.1.
Speed and responsiveness of GB? In my experience all of the ICS roms (or leaks) have been way faster than any of the GB roms I've used. So far, I've had little to no problems with UCLD2 that wasn't caused by myself. The only thing I wish for is a toggle to switch btwn HSPA and LTE so I don't have to turn off the device to do it, but I think we'll have to wait for a Rogers leak for that.

I am really picky. I never found an Atrix ROM (previous phone) I liked (it was complicated by the fact that I used and still use the lapdock, however).
My first go with ICS Rom was not good. Laggy, issues, etc.
I didn't give up and have been using Sky ICS 4.2D now for a couple of weeks. It is faster than gb, I have not had one fc and everything is really smooth. Only thing I don't like is the contacts are not part of the dialer (issue with all the ICS roms) but it is a minor issue outweighed (imho) by the benefits.
I think the key to the ICS ROMs is doing it exactly by the book; follow the instructs..
Yeah im having same problem. Just not smoov enough for me. Official should be coming soon. Glad i could taste the ics a lil bit though. It was good!!! Lol hello gingerbread

The best ROM ICS

Hi, dear friends!
Sorry but what is a better ICS-based ROM right now?
- for energy save and long working
- for stable working
Thank You!
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using XDA
The most popular seems to be Sky ICS. The most stable might just be your stock option, but who wants that?
CM9 is in late alpha stage and reported stable. AOKP seems to be gathering some attention as well and by the looks of it is stable itself. I'm still running GB for now. I liked ICS on my SR however I am comfortable with my current GB set-up. When the ICS custom roms mature, or exit alpha stage and beyond, I'll surly be rocking out some CM9 or variant.
Was using SkyICS but switched to CM9. This thing is a beast.

Tested a couple and went with Alien for stability and reliability. Happy Camper here.
i think seanzscreams sky ics is the best

"Best" is relative to the user. Battery life is usually relative to how you use your phone and "stability" varies by person to person. I recommend you read the roms try them out and make that decision yourself. So I will be locking this thread.

I would say it is: EAGLESBLOOD™ ICS "AOSP". I have bounced around using different ROMs but always end up with EB. Besides the Devs are there for you when issues come up.
Search and try
There are any number of "good" ROMs out there Some prefer CM7, or CM9. Some Prefer AOKP. SOme like to stick to close to stock because it has fewer potential problems. Your mileage will vary based on your needs and you should try some until you find one that matches your needs. There is no single generic answer to your question. If it were specific it would be more likely that one ROM best fits your needs though. For example, if you are seeking video capture and playback then stear clear of CM9 and ICS. If you are seeking a safer ROM than try CM7 or stockish. If you are seeking massive customization than go with some that have those choices(eaglesblood AOKP is a good choice). If you are looking for an iphone-like interface than Muiu might be your thing. So, sorry, but there is no one answer to this question. Many members of this site will just tell you to search and stop posting this question, but I thought I might help.
If you want stable, then get a modded stock ROM.
ICS doesn't have working video.
Cm7 has Bluetooth issues (I never use Bluetooth so I am on Cm7).

Other options
If you get tired of Eaglesblood (not like it's bad or anything) go for AOKP. I had it on my Fascinate before I switched to the G2X and the features are simply astounding.
At this point, most of the developers are using the same performance mods (making most of the ICS roms run nearly the same in general use). So it comes down to features!
Get a SD card for Nandroids, then try many.
gpmartinson and buru898 offered great advice.
Best thing to do IMHO is to read, mostly the development threads. You'll see lots of posts regarding what works and what the current issues are with particular ROMs (and kernels).
Then get an SD card for all your flashing curiosities. I usually keep this separate from my kids' movies and all my photos that I like to keep on a different SD card. I keep Nandroid backups of each ROM I try (usually between 300 - 700 MB) and remember to rename them so I can keep 'em all straight (that's the only thing I use Rom Manager for). Also finding a good launcher set-up nicely makes a huge difference. ADW EX works so well for me on that even on stock based ROM's my G2x seems snappier than a stock Samsung GS2 or SkyRocket. I bounce back and forth all the time as it takes less than 5 minutes to restore from a backup once I have a ROM set-up the way I like.
Buru, you're on CM7? WTF? I love BuruROM 2.3.4! For reliability and battery life I too like CM7, but I'll put in a vote for Buru too :good: since that rooted stock version is awesome for battery, great GPS, and I prefer using LG Cam 3.0 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1166531) to the CM7 camera mod ported from LG Camera.

[Q] Stable ICS Rom Links please!

Hello, I finally got my wife to agree to let me root and put a custom rom on her infuse, currently running froyo. I just rooted it last night and was looking around for some stable ICS roms. I found lots of discussions about which roms were best but had a somewhat more difficult time finding the links to said roms. And stability is a must here as she knows absolutely nothing about messing around with phones. Also GPS and Bluetooth are absolute musts as well. She finally agreed to let me do this after seeing galaxy s2 running CM9. So I was kinda leaning towards a cm9 rom, a lot of the ones I saw though listed Bluetooth problems so I was wondering whose cm9 would be best for what I'm looking for here. That being said I am open to all stable ICS roms, not just tunnel visioned on cm9. So, if you all give me some good stable ICS rom, and their links, I would be very grateful. Thanks!

Just my 2 cents worth.......been d/l ROMs since GB........the JB ROMs that are out now are more stable than ICS.
Edit: biggest problem is, most of the Devs have moved on to JB.
ICS and jb both have camera recording problems... so jwep that in mind, jb has a slow but working GPS

In addition to the above comments. I would also caution you about future wife beatings and crazy ass tandrums if your giving a rooted phone to her. I know your asking about ICS, and some are suggesting Jellybean, however the best thing you can do for her is to put a rooted Gingerbread ROM like the following and just yank out whatever junk you don't want and keep it running smoother then stock!:
- Infused 2.2.3 (Extremely stable ROM that i used as my daily driver without incident for almost a year! Disadvantage is that it is no longer being developed. But really, it doesn't need anything else done to it.. absolutely everything just works!)
- Aeon (This is one of the newer Gingerbread ROM's that is still being updated and mantained. Also a very stable ROM where everything just works. The downside in my opinion is the Themeinig that is build into the ROM. Great for most, but not for everyone.)
Both of the above are excellent choices for a wife! And they are both built off of stock firmware so everything works.
Believe me, i would normally never reccomend someone go back to Gingerbread, but as she is coming from Froyo she will notice a big improvement. Also, from one man to the next. I can tell you, my bigest mistake was replacing my wifes crack berry with my older rooted X10. It was great for me, but for her she just wants things to work. The second something doesn't work, she turns into the hulk! I absolutely love to tinker and i'm never done messing with my phone, but don't assume your wife will appreciate the challenges as much as you would! I ended up just putting it back to bone stock and gave it to her with the understanding that she was not to complain to me anymore! LOL
Oh one last thing.. the saying really is true.. "A happy Wife is a happy Life!" LOL
