[Q] Smoothest Sense 3/3.5 Rom? - HTC Desire S

I have had the Desire s since May 2011 so not long after it came out and I have tried pretty much every rom ever made for this device! I have always gone back to the original rom with sense 2.1 because I have found it to be the fastest/smoothest sense rom for our device. No matter how many roms I have installed I have always gone back to sense 2.1 within a couple of days and I would like a new sense rom that is smooth because I hate the cube screen transition on sense 3(it looks so buggy and makes the phone seem ugly as hell) Any help guys?

Try endymion and if u set it up correctly its blazing fast

+1 by far the best sense ROM, but sense 3.5 also has the cube transition animation on home screen

I agree, at first I hated the 3D cube. But soon you just learn to live with it.
Its a shame because I got my phone around the start of August, and only had 1 month to experience Sense 2.1 before I jumped to Sense 3.0 in September.
I forgot what Sense 2.1 was like!! What Sense 2.1 ROM were/are you running? LBC?
Anyway, just hold out and wait till Sense 4.0A is stable. Its fully 2D and as fast, or is not faster than Sense 2.1 with the benefit of the new Sense integrated features.

Thanks for the help guys. @olyloh6696 I was using the stock 1.47.401.4 rom. I removed the bloatware and It was running quite fast but yes you're right I should wait for the ICS update! Can't wait

Have a really good experience with Bindroid ROM for Desire S. VERY fluid and VERY good battery life.

Whats your favorite Sense 3.5 rom?

I wanna move up to Sense 3.5, and tried a rom (I forgot which one) and it was horrible. Now, I wanna give them another go.
What has been your favorite one? Please mention if you have tried multiple 3.5 roms, or just have stuck to what your fav developer usually makes.

Energy. Great theming. I tried an earlier version of IC and it was really slow. That's probably been fixed by now, but I still like Energy's theming.

Sense-o-Maniac - Sense 3.5 v1.4.3 Beats by V6-Maniac ---> my favourite since v 1.1.
I think V6-Maniac is a good guy and I'm very impressed about his straight way to follow the "Sense-o-Maniac - Cleaning mission:"
With this in mind, I just have to dedicate my 1st post to V6-Maniac and his (in my humble opinion) great ROM!!!

AS many others, I prefer the InsertCoin ROM (mainly because of the battery savings).
Android Revolution HD or Energy which is better?
I prefer insertcoin. For me it feels faster and battery life seems improved compared to ARHD.
I use ARHD myself, test them all myself. They all have there plus and minus but for a T-Mobile user its a simple as flash and go . I haven't had to screw around with flashing radios and such either with this ROM. I also use SPB mobile shell on all Android devices so no matter which phone I grab , throw my sim card in or which tablet I grab my shell is always the same as well as the placement of all my icons, folders, programs etc. Thanks to titanium backup and a few other tweaks. If you haven't taken a look at SPB shell in a while it might be time to take another look , they have come a long way since win-6.5 days.

best sense 3.5 rom

hi guys,
would you mind sharing your preferred sense 3.5 rom?
This is for the wife's phone so it's more fore stable rom for daily use.
Thanks
InsertCoin worked well when I tried it. I'm staying put with Sense 3.0 though, because Sense 3.5 doesn't play nicely with using Exchange ActiveSync with Gmail (although that might not matter in your case).
To be honest though, Sense 3.0 looks nicer to me.. Sense 3.5 just seems black and white everywhere, even when using the Blue sky theme..

Using SENSEaY 2.0.0 myself. It'd been top notch for me, except for 1 nagging issue. Some apps in the market will tel me they aren't compatible with my device. Not even hardware reliant apps. I'm talking apps like Yelp and TripIt. lol

Bulletproof is the best. No bugs whatsoever. Roman is a great dev.
I agree on the bulletproof...best rom i've used to date on my Sensation(and I've tried most of them) Not saying others are bad but something about BP just felt right...stable..nice extras...and for me the real thing that kept me using it was my ridiculously amazing battery life. I'm a heavy user on my phone(it doesn't leave my hand) and I'd easily get 13+ hours without a charge. Usually I'd just through my phone on the charger before I went to bed and it was just hitting the red.

[Q] Which Android OS do you prefer and why?

Which Android OS do like?
I'm talking 2.3.4, 2.3.5, 2.3.7, ICS.
What ROM r u using and sense or no-sense.
I'll start
Mostly I've been 2.3.5-sense ARHD. that gives me a few different options.
Right now its ARHD 2.3.4 runs good, no prob.
Virtuous Inquistion -- Senseless ICS. I used to like Sense a lot, but when I started using CM7 I don't think I could go back. Sense is very user friendly and accessible, but it the UI just looks a bit too tacky for my taste. AOSP, especially ICS, is very simple and eloquent.
I switched my sensation with my wifes SGS2 and after a day or so I switched back. Guess I got used to sense or it grew on me. I just dont care for how it will sometimes lag for no reason at all. Never saw that on CM7.
Yeah true. Sense is the best manufacture UI. TouchWiz is just trash.

+1 for Virtuous Inquisition, for the same reasons stated above. Plus it's surprisingly stable compared to the full sense ics roms we have right now.
I've been a huge 2.3.4 advocate up until this point, but honestly I don't think I can go back now.

What about gaming on the sensation? any rom preference? any preference for roms/games combos?
i've been playing bejeweled but I want to play GTA but couldn't get it to work.
I know cordy and fruit ninja were big problems for a minute on the 2.3.4 ROMs.
ICS with ASOP is finally a nice replacement for Sense UI and its cleaner and faster...
I have voted for 2.35, but the newest ICS-Elegancia Rom sounds very good.
Virtuous Inquisition here... would prefer CM9 if available but this is pretty good. I cant stand Sense.. its definitely better than TouchWiz (Samsung) and Motoblur (Motorola) but its still trash compared to vanilla/AOSP
I'm using ARHD 6.0.3

I switched from ARHD to OrDroid and I freakin love it. Sense 4.0 is awesome and runs smooth on the Sensation 4G. Just dump the Sense launcher and use something like Apex or LauncherPro instead.

I love my Sensation XE now more than ever after I flashed ORDroid v5.0.2 + SoundBoost + Equalizer + faux kernel.
I don't know if its just me but the beats sounds way much better than when I was on ARHD v6.6.3. The only downside is I get a better battery life on my last installed rom.
As the previous poster mentioned above, use other launcher like Apex or Nova.

Same here. Although, I like the Sense launcher, to me 3rd party launchers with Sense feel really out of place.
On a side note, I hope LauncherPro gets updated someday. It was excellent on Gingerbread and Froyo on previous phones.
Really, another which Rom is best thread.

While I mostly agree, I need to correct some things....no offense.
Virtuous isn't AOSP, it's an AOSP "experience" based off sense base. True AOSP right now is Opensensation which is (CM9).....also as listed in your last suggestion cm9 (opensensation) isn't that customizable right now.
Also, while many suggest to try them for yourself......to someone who just rooted their new sensation, this can be a long process, with plenty of time consuming reading and configurations....
So I think it's best to offer the OP a starting point:
Pure stock like sense (3.6) - ARHD
Pure Stock like Sense (4.0) - Don't know if there is one, most I've tried are too laggy, and have too many bugs....but try any one to get the feel...maybe Coindroid
Pure AOSP - Opensensation (I don't even notice the bugs as listed)
Pure MIUI - There isn't one
- MIUI.us and MIUI android are based off sense base
- UltimiuIcs is based off AOSP, but developer is finishing exams
Given the above, they offer a starting point (with MIUI and sense 4.0 a starting point just to see what it's about) IMO, I'd wait for MIUI AOSP based if you like that, and wait for bug free sense 4.0 if you like that.
The rest of the roms, sense and AOSP are just variations on the starting points above.....with some being tiny, tiny visual variations (the rest under the hood), and others quite a few modifications.
As far as my onions:
- I find sense too laggy, I mean our phones can handle it....but of you want battery life, your gonna have lag.
- I recently moved to Opensensation, and can't even compare the speed....even underclocked, undervolted....while I do miss some sense features, they don't even compare to the speed.
- I recently tried "eyecandy" AOKP, based off AOSP....and there is a lot of tweakability and theming works as I'm sure more will be available.
As far as kernels.....if running sense, I'd use bricked, if running AOSP, use stock kernel with rom, or faux kernel.
Hope that helps for a starting point....and NANDROID...NANDROID!
That way you can easily revert back if you don't like one or get into trouble.
Cheers!

Sense 3.6 vs Sense 4

I've been going through reviews of Sense 4 and I'm contemplating flashing a Sense 4 ROM, but since ROM flashing and the consequent data/apps/settings restoration is an arduous process, I wanted opinions from other people.
Which version of Sense do you prefer in terms of speed, functionality, aesthetics, and any special/exclusive features?
Sense 4 for me.
Sent from my Sensation XE with Beats Audio Z715e using xda premium
for me sense 3.6. better stability,100% functional, better camera quality.
Sense 4.0 ftw, but if u wait a bit longer, a nonsense rom will take over the forms(android 4.1) for sure thats gonna be my fav, sense 3.6 looks (by my feeling)bit worse.
Sense 4.0
I feel sense 4 is more responsive then sense 3.6 it laggs quite a lot if you ask me .. specially the Rosie launcher
Sent From My Sexy Sensation Running Aokp.
Sense 3.6 is better in terms of multitasking, browser and camera, and sense 4 is better in terms of messaging and keyboard, application speed. I don't know why but browser is awful on sense 4
sense 3.6 for sure !!!
sense 3.6 for me
it's more stable, fully modded and supported here in the forum, better camera, 100% Hardware compatible with our Sensation.
sense 4.0 feels faster and looks better but you seek the sense 4.0 looks you can install skin on sense 3.6....
Sense 3.6 because it's much more smooth, at least for me than sense 4.0
On 3.6 everything works as it should, 4.0 just looks nice and has had some glitches; ie while using chrome w/ sense 4.0.
I would prefer AOSP/AOKP
But if you're asking between Sense, I would choose 4.0. Although there are still a few minor bugs here and there.
I finally flashed a Sense 4 ROM (ViperS by Team Venom) and went back to 3.6 because the menu button sticking around everywhere bugged the hell out of me.
I would choose sense 4 but only because sense 3.6 seems to have really a really big font. Everything looks crisper for me on sense 4. Sense 3.6 seems smoother but the huge font and the app tray bother me.

I'd like to say 4, but I've tried two sense4 roms and both had horrible battery life. I went back to 3.6 and the battery life is much better.
I like 4 visually over 3.6 though.
Probably tried 80% of the desire s roms, I do like the sense 4 and love 4.1. The camera quality on 3,6 is much better and this is only reason for coming back to ICE DS V8 sense 3.6. Overclocked to 1500 get an antutu score of 5236.
I wud prefer sense 4 it's more refined n and has nice looks
