s-off faild to root - HTC Sensation

Soff fail to root my sensation is there any other way to root and soff exept revolutionry? Cause every time it says fail to root

What HBOOT are you on? We need more info.

You mean you tried to soff with revolutionary and failed.
Are you still s-on now? And also revolutionary doesnt root your phone
Can you post the screenshot of your hboot(bootloader) that would be helpful
Edit:
It seems the phone requires root access in some cases(it never asked me though)
So you need to use temporary root which can be done using tacoroot
Tacoroot:
TacoRoot would be an alternative rooting method that would allow you to temp root and downgrade HBOOT to unlock your NAND with a previous method.
Guide to install/run TacoRoot
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1541087
And tacoroot bin can be obtained from here:
T
(This is one if many sources available)
https://github.com/CunningLogic/TacoRoot/blob/master/tacoroot.sh
After running tacoroot follow revolutionary then it should run fine
from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio using XDA

im with hboot 1.18 or something like that
and thanx ill check it out

I was helping someone with the same issue last night......
We figured out the only way to do this was as mentioned above, Get a temp root from tacoroot, downgrade and run revolutionary again

I have this error too.
I use revolutionary to s-off, and say: Failed to get Root!
HTC Sensation, stock rom, LOCKED S-ON HBOOT: 1.18.0000, SW: 2.3.4 , 1.50.111.2
I'll try tacoroot.

It is run.
1st tacoroot, 2nd revolutionary and my Sensation is S-OFF.
Thanks.

Simple Solution
Go for Tacoroot method..it works...dont worry abt bricking and all..
then do Revolutionary S-off...
Install 4ext recovery
install Superuser...
install suitable firmware
insatall rom...
You might go into bootloops but dont panic...installing ROM will take care of that..
Go ahead and ROOT...life becomes Awesome after that...

On my Desire S UnlockRoot work properly or not ?

Kindly... can anyone help me using "Unlock Root" ?
After uninstalling the HTC software, (leaving the drivers), disabling Fastboot and put Desire S in debugging, I launched "Unlock Root". After more attempt, the procedure was successful:
Ready
Starting adb server
get online devices (much more rapidly passes to the next step)
Chose the Connected Device: (recognized HTC Desire S 2.3.5)
get devices online
waiting for debug mode
try to get root shell permission May Take Several Minutes
root Succeed!
Unfortunately Desire S is alwais *** LOCKED *** S-ON
I repeated the procedure many times, but the result always the same.

You are confusing rooting a phone with gaining S-OFF. To date there has not been a solution developed that will S-OFF HBOOT 2.00.0002. You can change the "LOCKED" status to "UNLOCKED" by using the procedure at HTCDEV.com and this will allow you to flash a custom recovery and then install custom ROMs.
only way to get Permanent Root is to make your device S-OFF....what do you use to root your device?"unlockroot"?

No! i'm not confusing rooting with S-OFF ! I know S-OFF HBOOT 2.00.0002 solution but i desire only S-OFF. Also I do not want downgrade HBOOT 2.00.0002 to 0.98 !
I want only (for root-applications) S-OFF, and Unlock Root don't work in my case.
Using procedure at HTCDEV.com invalidate the warranty ! You know ?

i repeat the only way to get PERM ROOT IS to get it to S-OFF or to UNLOCK BOOTLOADER VIA HTC DEV.. If Unlock Root works for you then its just SHELL ROOT!.. the root disappears when you restart the device.
And the ONLY way to get S OFF is to DOWNGRADE and use Revolutionary. (which you can do anything you want)
you can unlock bootloader also with HTC dev.(which only let you root, flash roms and kernels)
YOU CANT DO ANYTHING(root, etc) WITH A LOCK BOOTLOADER, same with a S-ON.. Read the forums...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1146601
Ummm... Correct me if I'm wrong, but @up talks b.s. ... My d.S is s-on, bootloader unlocked by htcdev and perm rooted.
I've restarted my device numerous times and not loosing root... Latest hboot on it ofcourse.
Oh... And rooted with "super one click". (if it helps with anything)
I rooted mine yesterday by unlocking the bootloder through htcdev.com then using super one click v2.2

Dude,, youve unlock using htc dev. that means you can get PERM ROOT.. Unlocking with HTC DEV mean you can flash roms/ root but not as equal as S-OFF. As you can see. it still S-ON because there are still security parameters in the device which are still ON in order to protect the system. S-OFF can only be done using Revolutionary and by that you can do anything with the system.. "UNLOCK BOOTLOADER= FALSE S-OFF"

Can someone guide me to use Tacoroot to get S-off

I have sensation XE with 1.77.xxx.xx ROM and Hboot 1.18.000
I am not able to S-off(like many others) because of the OTA....
Few people have got S-off and Root via Tacoroot on their Sensations.
I tried it, but I have failed on it too... though i have rooted 3 other Sensations before sucessfully.....
I request someone to guide me on How to get S-off and Root for me Sensation using Tacoroot or someother way.
Thanks in advance.

[Q] Sensation - can`t root hBoot 1.18.000

Hello.. i`m new in this...
I have tryed to root my sensation...but it actualy cant be rooted...
i have got Hboot 1.18.000
i tryed over revolutionaty and over some youtube instruction...but.. nothing... it still says *LOCKED*
how i can fix this problem ???
Pleaseee Help !!!
This happened to me on this hboot, this is what worked.
Uninstall HTC sync and HTC drivers.
Reboot pc.
Download fastboot drivers from the guide section of the revolutionary site
(http://unrevoked.com/rootwiki/doku.php/public/revolutionary)
Install these and reboot pc.
Ensure USB debugging is on in phone settings
Connect to pc and let driver setup on pc complete (automatic)
Disconnect phone, switch off and boot into bootloader (hold vol down and power key) then select fastboot using vol keys to scroll and power key to select
Connect to pc again and let driver setup complete again (automatic)
Disconnect phone and reboot into android
Connect to pc
Run revolutionary and follow the guide here for the s-off procedure:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300
Keep following the guide to install recovery then supercid.
After that you can flash a custom Rom - don't forget to flash the correct firmware first if going from gingerbread to ics or vice versa
Hope this helps - it worked for me

no..still nothing
it still wrote LOCKED
Need to unlock bootloader first.
You can unlock from HtcDev website.
When your bootloader will be **unlocked** then you can proceed with S-Off and root using Revolutionary.
Sorry that didn't work, BTW I didn't need to unlock bootloader with HTCdev site and my hboot was the same as yours, but I hope that works for you.
regards.

First make sure you Android are still on Gingerbread because I think there are still no release on S-OFF ing the ICS.
If the error on rooting you can use TacoRoot to get temporary root than run the Revolutionary. I use this method to get the S-OFF.
[Exclusive] TacoRoot By Justin Case And Reid Holland: A New Temporary Root Exploit For All HTC Devices
I think you can find details on how from this post For S-Off on OTA update
You may have to run the Revolutionary 2-3 times to get the S-OFF.

The only thing you can do is to first downgrade your current rom by running a RUU or flashing its rom.zip (PG58IMG.zip) in hboot.

You can't downgrade your hboot with s-on. That really is common knowledge and if you weren't aware of that, I would suggest you do a lot more reading before attempting s-off anyway. I'm sorry to be a **** but you aren't ready.
I'm suggest you to wait until revo come out with the support for your HBOOT version

This method is NOT for 1.27 hboot.
Isn't running a GB RUU enough to have everything back to a "S-OFFable" setting?
I used an "old" RUU to go back to a revolutionary compatible hboot on a friend of mine's Incredible S (hboot 2.0 to 1.13) and it worked... Is there something I don't know as the reason for this not to work on the Sensation (surely there is... )?
try to do tacoroot to access revolutionary maby it help

[Q] How to s-off my XE?

I cannot s-off my Sensation XE with revolutionary tool.
It says to fill in a form at their site with device type , hboot version and serial number.
I have hboot version 1.27.0000 and the available versions on the form are only 1.17 and 1.18.
Except this when i run the tool it says that "your device , pyramid with hboot 1.27.0000 is not supported at this time".
i have installed the htc driver.
i powered on my phone without hboot (i removed the battery and then turned on).
i have ICS 4.03 version 3.32.468.112 (i got it OTA two days ago).
How can i s-off and then root my phone?
Please help me because i have not done anything like that before.
You have the wrong hboot version. Using revolutionary won't wont work for a phone with the ICS OTS use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1611981
That.
you say that i must change my hboot version for it to work?
how is it wrong?
it is the one that my phone had stock.
and how can i change my hboot version?
will be all ok then or my phone will become unstabel or lose something?
Try the tacoroot method. I had a set of detailed instructions somewhere.

If you want S-off you will have to use the Juopunutbear S-off method linked above. Her is z link to the only detailed guide for the Sensation there is now.
Now by all means please understand you will have to use HTC Dev to unlock your bootloader before you can use this S-off method. When you use HTC Dev to unlock your bootloader it can cause you to void your warranty.

Sorry about that, don't know why it did that. I fixed the link in that post now.
does anyone know if there will be a new tool that supports the latest hboot versions?
if there will be i can wait to do it that way because the others seem a little risky to me.
It's Juopauntbear or nothing at the moment, and it works fine.
You can always just use HTCDev unlock for the time being, that let's you flash recovery to swap ROMs & gain root.

i read at their site but i didnt understand much.
what is the juopauntbear method and what is the HTCDev?
the only thing i saw is that you do something with a wire at the phone and i am confused.
is it the same thing or i must do both to s-off?
i entered rhe HTCDev unlock page and it has some instructions.
if i do this will i be able to s-off or i must then do the juopauntbear tricks?
You must do the juopunutbear method if you want to s-off
But befor that you must use the HTCDev and root
You must understand that yll lose your warranty if you use the HTCDev method.
so the only way now to s-off with hboot 1.27 is juopunutbear right?
What exactly do the HTCDev then? I see that unlocks the bootloader.
I think is in different order than with revolutionary tool (first s-off then root then anything else but with this method you need first Htcdev then root then s-off) or am i wrong?
HTCDev does not unlock the bootloader only parts of it, so thats why you have to first unlock via HTCDev and then root and finaly s-off with Juopunutbear...Thats the only way to fully unlock your bootloader

Understood.
That is the only way until revolutionary release a new tool that supports the new hboot versions i think.
I think i can wait a little more for s-off.
Thank you all for your help and your time.
