Touchwiz lets you kill running apps by long pressing 'Home' and clicking Task Manager (Touchwiz feature). You can also flick the apps off the screen immediately after long pressing 'Home' (ICS feature)

Just thought I'd share this in all these threads asking about screenshots to be sure you guys know. The G2x can take screenshots in its stock form without any rooting or apps. Hit the power button + home and it'll take a screenshot and place it in your gallery.

Thanks I've been looking for something that would work with the CM7 nightlies and screenshot er works great!
It will be nice (and easier) if they implement the stock rom screen shot (home + power) in cm7

Hi. I recently installed an app called GameKeyboard that would replace the Android keyboard with a D-Pad and configurable buttons so I could play flash games made for PC. However, I was noticing that when I was in the game, holding down the menu key wouldn't pull it out. Then I switched back to the normal Android keyboard, and that doesn't appear when I long hold menu either.
My dad has a ZTE Blade and it pulls out the current keyboard selected when holding down menus, so is there an option somewhere that allows me to turn that functionality on or off, or is this just downright disabled in our devices?
Thanks for your time.
Depends which rom you are running I've noticed. Cm7 does it and has the option to enable/disable actions for software buttons. I can't remember about some of the stock based roms

Doesn't work on 2.3.3 or 2.3.4. Only seems to work on CM7 and MIUI builds.

So I'm on cyanogenmod 9 using ads launcher, and I pressed down on my apps, it makes the little vibration but it doesn't do anything else. I can't move them.

ads launcher? or maybe you mean ADW Launcher because this is the stock launcher for CyanogenMod.
have you tried Menu > More > Unlock Desktop

What do you need a screenshot app for? Slide your hand over your phone on TW, or volume down+power on AOSP.

Something other than the built-in screen capture? Was there something in particular you wanted to do? TouchWiz has the built in palm-swipe screen capture. I've used "Screen Capture Shortcut" before. Doesn't need root.
OMG! I am just an itty Bitty embarrassed..

You don't have to be on an AOSP rom, option one is to hold the Power button and home button to take screenshots. Option two is to ensure that under Settings/Motion that Palm Swipe to capture is enabled. Then take your hand, hold it as if you're doing a karate chip, and swipe it from edge to edge across your display. Option two may not work very well on your main home screen but it works mostly everywhere else.

Tasteofbeans is really good, the other would be incubus26j's rom. theyre both the slightest bit buggy, but they're ports of Jelly Bean from other networks. it's really nice. i'd recommend one of them.
Searched and didn't see this mod anywhere yet. Would love if someone could make it so the lock button or volume keys took a picture in the camera app? Thanks in advance
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
Synergy ROM does this! I'm running Synergy r64 and just verified the volume buttons will do it. Not sure but some other ROMs may have it baked in too.
there is one for aosp roms.
Yeah, I miss that from synergy but I was getting way to many hot boots to stay on synergy.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
Do you mean reboots? That's why I switched back to r64.
BUMP BUMP
Download R64 (or whatever one has the camera app) and extract SamsungCamera.apk in /system/apps
Then put it into your /system/apps with the right permission
Use a root file manager
This only works on ICS TW, idk about JB TW
It doesn't work on AOSP

The app "vignette" can be set to snap a pic with the volume button.
Vignette is an awesome app once you learn how to use it.
