[Q]Is it possible to restrict which apps can access the network if has limited data - Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there any way to restrict which apps can access the network if don't have an unlimited data plan.
To choose which apps will use wifi and when not on wifi which will use mobile data.

I don't think there is an option for that atleast in the stock ROM.

Wifi and Data connection questions

Gday guys, ive noticed if my phone goes into standby, the wifi will switch off and the data connection (gprs) will bein usage, costing me money!
Anyway to keep wifi on while the phone goes into wifi? Anyway to disable all gprps access easily and then switch it on when i need?
it depends on your settings I think. If you setup the phone to use a data plan, then it will use it on regular and standby when your software sends updates
if you set it for Wifi, Likewise
Honestly, the 30$ a month I pay for unlimited data is worth it, you should consider it.
Not all of use are privileged with unlimited data plans
To OP, I think you can change the settings using Advanced Config
use advanced config to allow wifi to stay on during standby. its under menu - more settings. also if you dont have a data plan, remove the provider settings from your phone

Help With Wifi and No data plan.

Hello, Well I have a touch pro 2, and my Data plan was recently cut off. I then I just figured, I could use my Wifi to use applications/ect. that require a data plan.
Whenever I connect to my home network, it's as if my network has no internet connection. I cannot browse any pages nor use any applications that use data plan.
As far as I know, you can use wifi instead of a data plan, but it connects, and nothing. I know my network has internet access, cause I have many things connected to it right now.
Any suggestions?
I do not have any other networks around that I can test, sorry.

Did you try connections? Click the wifi icon and then settings, which should take you to the connections folder. Click the second tab and then where you see "my device connects to the Internet through my..." change that to work network and it should work.

Android firewall with different setting for different WIFI

Hi, I use normal home wifi, and mobile wifi with DATA PLAN when I'm out, is there an application where we can set different access restriction for each one???
That is different settings for: DATA / WIFI xxx / WIFI yyy, or just treats certain WIFI Hotspots as Mobile Data like in some new JellyBean Data restriction
Please feel free to move this thread to the appropriate section

Your question is confusing. You would use your home router settings to set restrictions and encryption keys and Android settings in the Wifi Hotspot area to set the WEP key and restrict which devices can access your phone's mobile hotspot.
Or did I miss your question?

Android Firewall from the play store will do the trick, but only for WiFi and data. There is no app that'll let u set restrictions for multiple WiFi access points, sorry

Thanx, guess I should youse this in conjunction with jelly bean data restriction, but it would have been great if it can be done from one application

Make an app only use data

I want to know if there is a way to make a certain app blocked from wifi so even if I'm at home and on the wifi it will only use my mobile data.

Is there a way to use Wi-Fi for certain apps and cellular data for other apps ?

Thus keeping both the Wi-Fi and the cellular on at the same time but just direct apps to use any one of the means of connection .....
I know the method of using " aggressive WiFi - cellular handle " and "keep both data and WiFi ON" option but I need a controller or something that can direct a app to use a particular connection whereas another app to use another means of connection...
If any body knows a way , plz share it ....
