Native MMS app

Hello,
Does anyone know how I might be able to make my sms messaging app open using another app like gosms ?? Or maybe just replace the stock apk with another?

Just use SMS app of your choice.
If you use Go SMS just turn off notification for the stock SMS app..

When in Handicent, click menu and choose settings, > Application Settings and Defaul Messaging.
This supresses the native Android notification.
Good luck
I did that...i selected disable...and when i get texts...i still get both notifications ...weird...?

I believe you need the stock messaging app for Handcent to work. Go into settings for the stock messaging app and uncheck notifications to prevent double notifications.

[Q] Can someone recommend a good messaging app for miui?

Miui is awesome in its stability and appearance.. Only issue I am having is the default messaging app blows. It doesn't group messages together when sending/receiving group text.. Or at least I can't find an option to correct it. Does anyone recommend a messaging app to replace the default? Or know how to fix the default app?

Textra is decent. I forget, can you not download the android messaging app from the play store? If not, you may be able to side load it.

Thanks, downloaded the android msg app but the group message on that isn't right either.. Trying textra now to see if its going to work.

Disable Floating Notifications/Heads up notifications?

Hey on the S6 is there anyway without root to disable the floating notifications that reads out every message and scrolls across the screen?
I know some apps have this in their settings ex : groupme... But i specifically use hangouts for txt and IM.....
Anyone?

yea i want to know how to do this too. those floating notifications are super annoying especially when watching videos. but looks like there's no way without root though.
Damnn...this sucks. I switched back to my rooted nexus bc this was so annoying!

I'm specifically talking about hangouts and other apps

I'm pretty sure that setting controls all popups but I don't use hangouts. In messages, click more to get options. Then click on notifications. There are settings behind it

With HeadsOff lollipop heads-up notifications can now be disabled!
No root needed.
You can also restore the ticker text in the statusbar!
Give it a try:
Download from Playstore
XDA thread
What about preventing text messages from turning the screen on every time one comes in? Any idea how to get do that?
If you rooted you can edit csc files to do that
