Wich format for microSD? - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi alls, I bought a Kingston (8GB class 4) microSD for my TF101.
what format should I format it? ExFat,FAT32,NTFS?
I'm using a rooted device with last Revolution ROM.
thank you very much.

FAT32

If u want to watch mkv 720p files without conversion u will nees NTFS format as it supports files bigger than 4GB. I am using same set up as you and it work without any problems.

The TF101 is missing the option to format the external sd. That way the right filesystem and blocksize would be applied automatically.

There are apps for that. And I think you can do it through shell/terminal too (not sure though)
@Mr.corny, what kind of files do you have ? I have no 720p movie thats over 4GB in size... 1080p is a different matter though...
edit: actually I just found one that was 4.5GB...

[Q] Format microSD?

Hi.
I was wandering is there any way to format the microSD card on teh TF300T?
If so what is the filesystem used/permited?
I would like to put some home videos, that are bigger than 4Gb, and the Fat32 filesystem doesn't let it.
If you want to use the card in Windows computers as well as the tablet, format it with NTFS. If you're just using it in the tablet, ext4 is the best. Note that Windows doesn't support ext4 (or anything that isn't FAT or NTFS for that matter; it won't acknowledge the card at all), so be aware.
Edit: I don't think you can format the card in the tablet. It was removed from ICS. You'll need to use a computer or an Android phone (pre-ICS).
"I'm a PC." So I will format it to NTFS. Too bad i have to use the computer.
Thank you.
Just formated my microSD to NTFS and it works just fine.
Thank you for the advice.

Yup, same concept as putting it into a digital camera or a phone. Sometimes they're better able to format the card and then it'll work in other devices as well.
I had the same problem with both Samsung and Transcend 32 GB microSD class 10 cards. Probably we need a community-driven list with supported flash cards...

Has anyone figured this out? i bought a 32gb sandisk microsd and I'm having the same issue. The tablet won't read it. I've tried to format it on my PC with both NTFS and FAT32 and neither makes a difference. :/

Copying to usb failed

I'm copying an mkv file less than 800mb to my sandisk which is formatted to NTFS. It used to work before and all of a sudden, I can't copy/move/delete things on the usb from the tab, any suggestions?
Backup the contents of the drive.
Format to exFAT.
NTFS is Microsoft. Android doesnt like it.

if that doesn't work try fat32 . both of my 64gb class 10 have to be this format for everything to be read accordingly.

Same, I use fat32. FAT is much more linux/android friendly
What I don't like though is the 4gb limit on files for fat 32, is there any way to go around that besides splitting the files?
Just did a short read on exfat, thanks for that
+1 for fat32. I've never had any problems with any of my devices running it.

Partioning the built-in memory.

Hi,
I'd like to fill it up with some films but fat32 doesn't, as you know, support files above 4 GB.
Is it possible to create a second partition in f.ex. exFat or NTFS?
Cheers.

Internal memory is using ext4, which already supports 'unlimited' file size.
It's because of the MTP. Use PTP for big files.

Oh.. Didn't know it ran on ext4.. Thanks!
