Google Talk or Fring? - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a Nexus S Tmobile 3g. What is better for Video Chating...Google Talk or Fring? I'm kinda scared to use Fring because I don't want to give them my phone number and have solicitors calling me.

Gtalk

Qik
I had a major issue with Qik on my Tab so I am really scared to even open it. It got into a loop with something and every 30 seconds I would get a call from same number and no one would be there. I was getting over 300 of these calls a day. I had Tmobile change the phone number on the Tab and it did not help so I will not even open Qik. Tmobile had no idea what the issue was or how to fix it. Only way I got it to stop was by rooting the tab and deleting the program
WOW!!!
It works in the uk. I tango my cousin in his uni and he has a iPhone 4

[Q] Visual voicemail

anyone using this free service w/ the g2x? do you recommend it?
I used to use it. Then I discovered Google Voice and haven't looked back.

I use it in the rare instances I get voicemail and I have no problems so far on the g2x. You have to call T-Mobile and activate it on your account (it's free) .

Huh, I just checked it out in the market.. Check out the last dozen or so comments.. "Doesn't work on the g2x". Obviously it's working for you..
Working here.
I use Yap (search for it in the market). It's free and simple and works well. Very good speech to text recognition too.
youmail. love it, and it freaks my friends out when my voice mail knows their name...
Working fine here as well! The T-Mobile app that is.
I don't see why it shouldn't work?
For me it works out of the box, no activiation needed.
Just verified again that it works. Called my phone left a message and it instantly downloaded into the t-mobile visual voicemail app. I had to activate it a looong time ago with my G1. Only had issues with it on Nexus One.

+1 for Google voice. Not only does it work great for voice messages but also to send them to you via email. It has pretty good voice recognision and I also like that I can use it to call out over my Google Voice phone number, which I use for a personal business.
It's especially nice for calling someone who you know is avoiding your calls (lame friends) so they don't recognize the number.

Video calls

Guys, how can I make a video call with the Sensation?

I would imagine it's no different than any other phone... Just use a video calling app. Qik, oovoo, tango, yahoo, et al.

Thanks mate! I thought that the function is integrated within HTC dialer.
It would be nice to see a way to make regular 3G video calls. I mean these video calls every non-smartphone device with a front camera can do over 3G. The only known android phone that implements this is the Galaxy S.
Yes, that would actually be great. Is there a way of making regular 3G video calls?

No video calling and Microsoft just bought them out. I doubt we'll see it soon unfortunately.

I downloaded Skype and I haven't figured out how to make a video call yet (just voice). I'm guessing I have to use the Qik app that came with the phone...problem is not many of my friends use Qik...they use Skype. Kinda disappointing

As stated above, Skype does not support video calls for mobile yet. I heard they are working on it, but who knows how long it will take with Microsoft taking over. It'll show up on WP7 before we see it at this point.

You sure he doesn't have a custom Rom on his mt4g? Cause tango for me works perfect.

If you go to Skype's website it says that mobile video calling will be available for Verizon's LTE 4g network soon. I hope it's not exclusive just to Verizon users.

It's #G video call over network without data
Hi, I think you are mistaken with the Skype/Tango/G talk or whatsoever that uses data and require the other party to have these installed.
I think what the origin of this thread was asking for is a 3G video call over the network without the need to have data plan. I used to call using 3G video using my old win mobile 6 phone to my wife's Nokia Symbian phone or my Dad Sony Ericsson phone without data line but now I'm using the Galaxy Nexus, I don't have that option. If I use the Nokia phone to call 3G video, it will say number is busy.
I think we just need the dialer to support video call. Not internet video call.
ya i am also agree in india skype tango are not so popular but 3g sim vedio call is so popular because it is cheap here so google plz provide vedio call option like galaxy s2 ands galaxy s is having

Anyone can do voice calls over GTalk?

I can't. neither with nexus one nor with the sensation. A quick google reveals that there are loads of cursed guys like me around.
Any help would be much appreciated.
I can make voice and video call Gtalk (Sensation)- Gtalk (Exhibit II).
is that what you are trying?
By gtalk voice call, do you mean calling another gtalk user? Or calling a number from gtalk?
I mean calling another user. I am not in the states.
Its not working for me but I'm pretty sure its a ROM bug for me. Are you using cm9 by any chance?

Im using revolution hd.
But same goes for my nexus one. Any rom any device, no talk voice. Weird...
Works for me on IC 5.5.0
