I've had a rooted phone for at least a month now, and no matter what rom I've used, my phone refuses to download any pictures or videos people send me. I've ran cm7.1 and now I'm on existz' ics, and I was wondering if there was a patch to fix the issue or anything like that.

Is your data on when you try to download. Usually pics and videos are mms messages which must use data even if your on wifi.

Dude when you get to "Access Point Names" click it. There you should see three APNs
1 ATT
2 MediaNet
3 MediaNet mms
If there is no # 3 then just hit menu and new APN and create one
Tap on # 3 and it should look like this
Name: MediaNet mms
APN: wap.cingular.com
Proxy: blank
Port: 80
Username: [email protected]
Password: CINGULAR1
Server: leave blank
MMSC: http: //mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
MMS port: 80
*MMS protocol: WAP 2.0 (if there is an MMS protocol spot)
MICC 310
MNC 410
Auth type: blank
APN type: default,supl,mms
APN protocol: IPv4
Bearer: unspecified
Maybe cwhitney24 or zelendel will come along and make corrections.

MMS Downloading pictures
I know a lot of people have already posted about this issue.
But I tried just about every different APN setting I can find, but I still can't
download pictures from mms messages. Currently I have the MEdia Net APN and
the MEdia Net MMS APN. and everything is entered exactly.
Currently running on Inspire4g
ROM - DIESEL POWER EDITION ICS
Kernal - LorDmodUE-9.8.8-ICS-CFS
Radio - 26.10.04.03_M
appreciate any help.

Do you have your data turned on? To download a picture message it takes alittle bit of data to do so, but att doesn't charge for it.
.
I do have data turned on and wifi off, I was able to download MMS before flashing the Rom, I tried a fresh install also but no luck.

It might be an issue with the ROM itself...I cant remember if diesel how MMS works in diesel edition...check out the ROM thread and see if any others have the same issue. Or try finding a different APN settings, other than the ones you mentioned above.
According to "Whats Working" in the Diesel Rom thread SMS/MMS is working, I've tried just about every APN setting I can find and when I search the thread no one has an answer btw I don't have the "MMS protocal:" field in my APN settings, I don't know if this is an issue.

Hello everyone,
First of all, I have a sidekick 4G that I unlocked through a unlock code website. And the sidekick is running on AT&T with Edge and talk (receive and send) working flawlessly.
The only problem I have is that I can receive text messages, but cannot send any.
So I went ahead and called Samsung and they suggested that the problem was my messaging center number, so I followed their directions and did this ,MESSAGING->MENU BUTTON->SETTINGS and scrolled down to messaging center only to find it greyed out.
I have the latest update and did a factory reset and what not.
My question is how do I set the messaging center number from the one Tmobile set to AT&T 's messaging center number?
Please help! I don't want to have a unlocked phone that cannot send text messages!
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using XDA App
Call AT&T and ask. Or ask a friend that has an Android. The number should be the same. If you can't get it to work then you can always download an app that gives you a number for texting, i.e. Google Voice, textfree, etc.
Look in the settings of your previously used phone you had for AT&T. The number should be there. If not, ask a friend. If not, then you can call AT&T. I believe numbers differ according to region, based on a quick Google search.
I have the number, its just that the field where I enter the number is greyed out, meaning I can't configure it. Are all sidekicks like that?

Go to settings wireless n networks mobile networks Then access point names then click on tmobiles apn and edit it or add ur own apn the best is to copy it from another android on att u can just go to the store and copy it from there floor modles the line for the texting is the mmsc line

You should try out THIS tweak for better 4G
I personally can tell you it doesn't change much on some Roms as I tried on Infused 2.2 and didn't see major results but, I tweaked MIUI this week with it and nearly doubled my DL speeds.
The 1 APN edit CAN lower your signal speed, however mine is set up like the one cat2115 posted and all seems well. Results with the 1 APN and tweak were:
7.33 down 1.11 up compared to 3.29 down and 0.87 up previously.
Here in San Diego, using MIUI rom and UCKJ1 modem, I average 2-4 Mbps download and 1 Mbps upload.
The best I ever got was on Infused v2 and that was almost 7 Mbps
I average around 5 Down and 3 Up, most i've gotten was 12 down and 5 up.
It depends on a lot of variables though such as location, antenna distance, modem baseband, APN, etc.
Id say anything over 3 down is pretty good.
Heehee oh yeah.

fast.t-mobile.com
fast.t-mobile.com
I can always add more. Does anyone know of a good apn that works?!

on t-mobile it's fast.t-mobile.com
the metropcs one is obviously for metropcs.
epc is an older apn, which may work but I don't think is optimized for LTE
For MMS your problem is likely not the APN
but the MMSC, MMSC proxy and port settings
or it could just be poor reception when your sending the MMS
With this, is it better to use the ipv6 or the ipv4?
