Hey all...not sure if this has happened to anyone else, but I tried to download the Dropbox and Kindle app, for my wi-fi only Galaxy 7.0+ and the "Play Store" said my device wasn't compatible.
FYI, they're both available from their respective homepages...
Dropbox for Android
Kindle for Android
Not sure what the problem is because both on my end say they are compatible...
So I thought that was weird also. I've rooted my tab, and then I went in and deleted a bunch of .apk's I didn't think I needed. I'm going to restore to factory and start over and see what changes. Thanks for the info though.

Odd. Mine works just fine. Maybe you should clear the data of the play app?

Both dropbox and kindle work fine on my 6210.
Yep...confirmed. I must've screwed something up when I was deleting .apk's. Both Kindle and Dropbox work perfectly after re-installing the firmware. Thanks for the sanity check everyone.

I'm running the stock "Woot" ROM (which is probably vanilla 3588 with some pre-installed apps, but I can't be certain) and have installed the Market and done the standard "market fix."
I'm able to browse the market, but the website insists I don't have any device. However, the website *does* show things I've installed as "installed." I believe that may be from when I was fiddling with TnT Lite earlier, but can't be sure.
I noticed in a thread about editing build.prop that doing so may break website updating, but I've never had that in the first place. That means that any time I do a market fix or switch ROM's that the Market doesn't know about any previously-purchased apps. I might try risking $1.98 and purchasing something then seeing what happens if I try purchasing it later.
Like others, I'm frustrated by what doesn't appear in the Market that I think should: Firefox and Google Earth in particular.
I think ive found that clicking on a link to an app will open it even if its not found in the search. there was an app i couldnt find earlier but it was there when i clicked a market link to it. installed just fine
If you want Firefox to show up after the market fix is applied you need to edit the build.prop - discussed a bit in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1017368
It also will show up before the market fix is applied. I am also having web market problems - no luck there so far.
Regarding Google Earth... never been able to see it in the market. I went as far as searching for the APK to sideload and it simply wouldn't work. Not sure why - it just froze when opening. I am guessing there is some sort of incompatibility with the gTablet...
I recently put cm7 on my moms gtab, and I found google earth in the market and it runs just fine

I never tried to find Google Earth after editing the build.prop. Just did and it was not only in the market but worked great. Maybe CM7 uses a different build.prop by default than vegan 5.1.1. I must have side loaded an old copy before when it didn't work.

Wrong! Paid applications are tied to your Google Account. As long as you log in to your Google account, all your paid apps are available to you in the Market application. However, if you are using a fingerprint in build.prop that Google does not recognize, your paid Google DRM protected apps will not show up; however I believe all ROM's are using a recognized fingerprint (Nexus 1 on TnT-Lite) so we don't have to worry about that.
I picked up my xoom earlier tonight and have been playing with it but I cant seem to find the YouTube app. It says it is installed when I go in settings, but it doesn't show up in the app list. Am i alone on this one?
thanks!
Make sure you click "All" in apps (upper left corner).
If you're in "My Apps", you won't see YouTube, as well as many other apps that are pre-installed.

Did you buy your Xoom from UK? I bought mine from US and I also don't see featured apps for tablets.
About Youtube, it didn't show up under the apps for me too at first, but when I connected to internet and added a google account it magically appeared. It still shows only 8kb in system settings, so this is normal.

Sorry to go off topic but where did you get your zoom from?
Do a factory reset. This fixed it for several of us.
Settings -> privacy -> factory data reset
Missing YouTube Also
I had to exchange for a new Xoom yesterday. I bought it from Costco and cannot get the YouTube app to download. It shows that it is in my system, but it isn't under the apps.
The YouTube app did work on the original Xoom I had, but I can't get it to work on this one. I'm on my 3rd factory reset.
Side note, my 'Books' don't work either...like EL_G15, it says 'Application is not Installed'
They're not missing. They're corrupted. If you go to manage apps you'll see that they'll show 0kb size. Not sure what else we tried but I know specifically that after I rooted mine the youtube and books app were at 0kb. Factory reset fixed it.
On my Xoom the Youtube app works fine but still shows 0kb under settings menu, so I believe this is normal.
i purchased mine from eBay. Its a US unit that the supplier imported. I've tried 3 factory resets, but still no youtube.
Just to add - I just did a Factory reset on a Xoom that the YouTube app worked properly, now it has the same problem as my new one.

Just in the park at the mo ill get back to you with details when I'm at a PC. If you do a quick search though, its an invaluable logging tool for android. Useful for finding problems.

Please let us know if this fixes the issue.

Just did, tried to change from Canada to US. No luck. Very odd. I get FC after it tried to load up my apps.

Not sure what else you can try. Another thing I can suggest is clear data for Google services framework. Good luck
Also are you rooted? What version market are you on now?
Try this version if you're not already on it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329262&highlight=market
Last thing to do is wipe data and start clean.
Tried, no cigar. That is the version that is giving me grief. Very odd. it FC and gives me the process com.android.vending stopped working.
Maybe the only thing left is to do a full factory reset. Very stupid.
No mine is not rooted. Thanks for the help
FIXED! It was a bad version of Documents to go... Deleted and it allowed me to get back into my apps in market. Interesting
That seems odd but at least you're fixed

I'm having the same problem now. Clearing data on market and android framework followed by restarting the tablet fixed the issue temporarily only for it to happen again after a short while.
Also noticed other performance related issues, force closes, lock ups, etc. Also resulting in the same error message as the market app issue - process com.android.vending has stopped working.
Only had these issues since the most recent update from Asus.
I'm having the same issue, I go into the market, everything is good till I try and go to my installed apps. Then f/c everytime. Very annoying. I do not have documents to go. Will have to try and hard reset it when I get home tonight. Son of a *****.
Just reading this thread.... the issue isn't isolated to the transformer.... my xoom same prob, and solution....

Thanks for the heads up, hard resetting didn't do a damn thing. Same errors. Google Music launch equals market crash? Maybe?
All right guys I need some input here....
I cleared market cash and data, reverted to older market, removed sd card, remounted sd card, rooted and installed prime then revolver, tried installing the newest market apk to no avail. Called google to see what was going on with my account, they said it was fine and it was the hardware. I put my fiance's account info on my tablet and it downloads famously. Factory restored and put my account back on and I get "download unsuccessful, please try again" every time on updates and app downloads.
Using my account I can go to market.android.com on a pc and push the application/update to my device and it works fine. This is a pain in the ass to do all of the time though. Can anyone help before I start using this thing for a coaster?
P.S. The market on my thunderbolt and HD 2 work fine.
**UPDATE**I just left it alone for a couple hours out of frustration and it works fine now. Must have been on google's side with the big market makeover.
Since upgradung to the leaked ics, I noticed hbo go is not in the google play store. I went to the hbogo website and clicked the link to download it in the google store. It pulls up but says its incompatible with my device. Is there an alternate way I can download this

Don't you have to modify something else in order to get that to work? I thought I read something about a build.prop file or something..

Groupon and Living Social both work on mine, although I'm using the Stock Revamped ROM. As far as Groupon goes, did you do a backup and then restore in Titanium Backup? If you do that Groupon doesn't launch. If you delete it and then redownload it via Google Play it should work fine.

I'm using Mod1411's NexusMod ICS with LCD Density set to 200. I thought it was the LCD Density at first but it wouldn't work even if I set it back to 240. I searched for Groupon first on Google Play but couldn't find it. Going to the direct Google Play link it will show me as incompatible
Even after setting density back, you have to clear google play data and may have to go to recovery and wipe caches and reboot.
Can anyone speak to the HBO (No) Go app issue? Has anyone been able to get this running on their phone? I'd like to get that back up and running.
Well my i heart radio app was working fine until they released 4.2.1 version for it, now I get that my device is not supported.
Update, found the app on the Amazon app store and it installed and works fine.
to the OP, try that.

Good , hopefully when MOD1411 get a chance to put out the new ROM it would work fine.
Just loaded the new AOKP and had a few issues with app incompatibility, couldn't get SwiftKey and others to install... I tried all the usual suspects - LCD Density, reboot, clear store data, but two tips I haven't seen anywhere else that both worked for me:
- Manage Apps, Google Play Store, 'Uninstall Updates'
- Install from browser instead of Play Store on device
Hope this helps someone!
Hey ya'll. Did anyone try to log in to their Google account and none of the saved settings were synced by Google servers on first bootup? I'm coming from a Nexus 4 and none of my saved settings like default ringtones and last wallpaper are being saved after the initial setup process. Even the apps that I installed on my Nexus 4 were not restoring to the Moto G (not app data, just the apps via Google Play) while my Nexus 5 had no problems with syncing most of my settings. Anyone else?
And yes, I have everything that pertains to backup checked and they were checked when I went through the first bootup process.
Nobody is having this problem? Hmm. I guess I might as well look into a backup solution then.
I had this problem with the Play store apps I had installed on my previous phone.
I think it tried to download them but there was some error with all my (non-Google) apps during the download or during the install.
IIRC the google apps (GMail, Maps, etc) got updated OK though.
That whole process worked fine about a month ago with my Nexus 7 tablet.
Wasn't a big deal for me since I've got the 8GB model and so it's a good thing to not clutter my phone with apps I don't actually use/need.

Yeah I don't know why it won't update or install my previous apps if the backup feature is turned on initially. I'm guessing its a hit or miss from different devices. Shame.

Hmm, I have no clue why it's not working for me.
I really don't want to download 40+ apps individually, but using a backup solution doesn't seem bad either. I just wish Google's solution (which I always used) would work in this case.
