Just some FYI...since lots of us, have had GP issues....
"The Google Play Store has ran into one or two teething problem since it replaced the long-standing Android Market. Google has already pushed out a couple of updates in a short space of the time with the most recent seemingly causing more issues than it fixed. Frustrated users have been reporting a series of force closes, glitches whilst browsing and disappearing paid apps."

Hi peeps.
Odd thing. Seems that yesterday I lost my Android market. It was there in the morning and then later that day it was gone. The icon is gone and it's nor in applications or processes anymore either. Seems my Android market is completely erased. Any ideas?

Probably something to do with this... http://www.engadget.com/2012/03/09/google-updates-play-store/
Thx
However it's odd isn't it. Looks like Google secretely did that by itself. I never confirmed any updates nor got a notification lol.

Calm Down Guys . you will eventually get Google Play which is = to Google Market . just clear market cache and reopen market press home and wait for 10 mins then open the market again . Hopefully you will get the update
Yeah, kinda threw me off too...it's a pain. I liked the simple Market idea better but...oh well...they made it worth my while by giving Dead Space and a bunch of other cool apps away for $.50 -_-

EDIT:
wow i just noticed that I had the google play app installed via automatic updates
what is this
amateur hour?
I just noticed a Russian apparently that is installed on my phone and wants to update! And will not let me uninstall it... according to the comments this problem is just happening on sgsII devices. Can anyone else confirm this has happened to their phone, and how we can remove it and what is it?

It's MALWARE: DO NOT UPDATE!!!!
Apparently it's a problem with Google Play, not this rom (stock roms are seeing it too).
See: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24056354&postcount=463 on how to get rid of it.

that doesn't seem to work because as soon as Google play store updates again it comes right back.
Weird, I haven't seen it at all on my phone, but a lot of people have mentioned it here today...
I have it in my list of apps...

I tried the steps from the post... It didn't work for me. once the market updates to the play store it says I have an update for what ever this Russian app is! I reported it but I'd really like to know how to remove this from my device.

me too wth...
I did it again for good measure.. it was still there. I reported it. just checked a few minutes ago and it was gone from my updates. Checked my installed apps. It wasn't there (to be safe). I think Google knocked it out! Try reporting it as a security risk for data and see what happens in like 30 minutes.
(while its there I'd make sure auto update is off!)

Try clearing market data. If that doesn't work try factory restore. Others are having similar issues.

Yeah. Been seeing that on and off for several days now. One of 2 different error messages and a refusal to update... Definitely not ICS related since I haven't taken the plunge yet. Some thought it was leak related because the timing the same, but I can confirm that it is happening on stock from time to time too, so probably just coincidental timing.
(think I may have to go ahead and flash something ICS after work now that there are a few choices with most of the bugs squashed)

I can say I had some troubles with the play store lately which caused app to not show up, all day I tried every method to get all the apps to show up.
It all started after I flashed mhx superlite 3.1 .
Eventually I downloaded the stock build.prop and replaced it with my own, that pretty much solved all the issues.
sounds like a bad update, clearing data and maybe even uninstalling the update and allowing it to re-install on wifi could fix it.
anyone else getting this little popup: "Billing is not supported on this version of android market"
this mostly came up while using the EA scrabble app (laced with ads), but then it came up again while on Firefox.
it's not causing any problems for my phone, just hoping that it is not app trying to send out info to a third party.

I have been getting this message for the last couple weeks. Coincidentally, over the last two weeks my phone battery has been miserable. I just came on here to see whether there has possibly been a connection between any apps, this message, and poor battery performance.
Have you noticed a reduction in battery life in your phone as well? Or perhaps could the two issues I'm seeing be unrelated?

not sure, but I would not be surprised. I'm speculating that it has to do with whatever version of android market we are running and what is setup in the build.prop.... but just speculations....
Are you guys on Tweaked or something? It works fine for me on stock.

Huh - sort of at a loss for what would cause this then. Perhaps its confined to certain apps/sites?

I dunna know.... so far, no popup yet on the released version of tweaked...
Ok...I just got this same popup on my Rezound on CM9 when I was just sitting at my home screen. Whatever it is, it isn't specific to a particular phone or app. I wonder if there's some kind of a glitch on the latest Play Store causing it.
I had it happen te me today as well..
While I was playing a game..
Weird ....
I think your right ..
Playstore ..

I had these toast messages pop up very frequently after installing this game. It would pop up regardless if the game was running or not, so it must be a service that is running in the background.
After I uninstalled the game I see no more of these annoying messages.

So I'm actually using the VZW Galaxy Nexus but I thought I would mention that I'm seeing the same thing. It tends to happen when I'm using the stock Browser... but not Chrome. I'm using CM10, and did not see this with stock or with Ascent. I was thinking it had to do with forcing Wallet onto my "unsupported device", which I didn't do until after my CM10 install. Hopefully that info helps in some way.
So, I just noticed this today on my EVO LTE. But after a recent wipe, I only have two paid apps on it: EA's Monopoly Millionaire and Zynga's Drop 7. And I've made absolutely ZERO in app payments.
I looked in aLogcat and it says "com.android.vending / com.google.finsky.billing.iab.MarketBillingService" keep crashing and restarting.
I'm on an HTC EVO LTE running Viper4G ROM 2.0.2 with Android Market / Google Play Store version 3.10.9

It has nothing to do with the user end, it's the developers end. When they packaged their app and signed it, they forgot to sign it in release mode.
I have the same problem with My Country Online. It appears so often like every five seconds or so. The only way is to stop the app via app manager. Any ideas for a permanent fix?
Is there a thread for these two apps? Ever since they released the new UI for these 2 apps I've had nothing but force close issues on startup. It never fails. It will open and look fine but as soon as I open a thread or start to scroll down it force closes. But the strange part is I can reopen the app immediately and it works fine. It does not matter which device I use. For awhile I thought it was because I was rooted but now I have an HTC one still haven't rooted or modified it in any way and still having the exact same issue. I have been reporting this crash since the day the update came out. I'm losing more and more respect with tapatalk with each update.
If this will not be fixed any time soon what are your opinions on a good alternative app?
