So I'm running fission, not entirely happy with it. Terrible battery life, and at least once a day my phone stops receiving texts until I restart it.
My problem is, I accidentally flashed an older recovery, and probably cannot use the backup of stock that I made with recovery version 3.0
What do I do?
Simply flash SBF and start over. Make sure you wipe everything after SBF flash or phone won't work properly. If you plan to stay stock, do not flash "stock" deodexed/rooted versions from Fission/others. They are neither better nor faster than stock rom. Simply freeze the unwanted stuff. Unless you plan to play with themes/etc. Then you will need deodexed rom. Not having original stock rom will prevent you from updating using official Motorola updates though. Your call.
i actually messed with it yesterday. i was able to flash my stock backup made with clockwork recovery 3.0, using 2.5.3
so everything is all better.
Hi everyone.. first post here.
I just successfully rooted my Nexus S (GT-I9020T, 2.3.4, GRJ22) using adb, recovery clockwork herring and su 2.3.6.1.
ROM Manager is working fine but I do have a couple of issues.
The recovery doesn't always stick and reverts back to the stock one from time to time (I have to flash again then from inside ROM Manager). Which could be a problem due to the next issue..
I've been trying to install some ROMs (Cynogen for instance) but in one version I get a looping boot screen and in an other it keeps going to the recovery screen. Luckily, it's the right one and I can restore a backup. I'm afraid it might revert to the stock recovery at some point and screw me.
Any thoughts on this?

I fixed the recovery issue by renaming install-recover.sh using Root Explorer
So I guess I should just experiment to find good ROMs now.
Can anyone suggest a good ROM? I'm looking for improved battery use, slimmed down system, needs email apps (all google apps probably)
Sorted it all out (mount/unmount, delete caches, etc.)

Running Cynogenmod 7 and loving it.
I am using Infinity 1.0.0, stable, fast and great battery life, it is a 2.3.4 rom
I keep getting FCs on soundset and music after I load the rom then reset. This has followed me from BAMF NTE 1.6.3 over to the new Remix 1.7. I loaded the custom MR1 ruu and factory data reset. It still FCs, I also did not use Ti Backup and just reinstalled all apps through the market and it does it. I did not get a new app, I have been running the same apps since I got the thunderbolt and it ran fine before. Any ideas on what I could do to fix it?
Update 1: I realized I didnt run a fix permissions and that didnt do anything.
I am completely redoing the root exploit every step like its a new phone and will flash MR1 and just run stock for a little bit to see if I get FC issues. I had no issues with the phone until now and my terminal read out is SEM08G like everyone else.
When in doubt go back to a stable stock to establish a base then move to a custom rom to determine if it's your phone or the custom rom.
yeah I am running the stock MR1 and I got market FCs getting a few apps but nothing big yet. I used to run 1.6.3 just fine before GB.
So I've been using Revolver for a few months...
And I saw these new ROMs and I was wondering if they are worthy to switch from Revolver...
(IF anybody tried these ROMs PLEASE post your opinion)

If you haven't updated to the new revolver 4 then you are still on honeycomb.
And cornerstone is a gimmick right now, it breaks a lot of features and apps don't always run correctly in the cornerstone windows..I will be surprised at this point if cornerstone survives onto android 5.0, google and Onskreen seem to be at odds over it's usefulness and how to implement it into ROMs without breaking market access to keep users from leaving negative feedback for 'broken apps' that don't work simply because they have cornerstone installed. I have a feeling cornerstone is either about to die, or be neutered beyond usability, they have already removed features and hinting at removing more to make it compliant to Google's standards. In other words, enjoy cornerstone, but I wouldn't get dependent on it, it may not be around (at least in the same form it is now) for very long.

I wanted to try those ROMs for myself but it's really troublesome wiping everything then restoring again! which I did twice to get ICS to work! and I still have random shutdowns!
So I wanted to ask if anyone tried them... and how are they compared to the Revolver!
Do a backup of your apps and data, then do a nandroid backup through recovery. If you are currently on HC and then you upgrade to ICS, you will need to make sure that you can go back to your previous HC rom if need be by having a nandroid backup and a way to flash the corresponding HC kernel. The safest way to do this is to perform the nandroid restore through recovery, do not reboot, after restore, then reflash your HC rom's zip file. If you do not have a TF that has sbk1 and can use the nvflash utility, then you run a risk of hard bricking your tf when u try to go back to HC. So the safest bet is to stick with ICS once u upgrade.
Do a full wipe and download and try every rom you are interested in and try them out yourself. Perform the above recovery steps if you want to go back.

I'm on ICS!
I've already backed up everything from TB but It does take a very long time to restore! (250+ Apps)
And to test the ROM properly I have to restore my data and use the ROM for couple of days!
BUT If somebody already tried one of those ROMs then I don't have to do all of that...

I am also have a problem with Asus Base ROM as well.
So I change from Revolution HD to EOS nighlies with Cornerstone version 4.
Overall is great, it's very fast. However, I still have some problem of random not-wake up and battery drain after restart.
It may be my individual problems but just for your consideration.
ROM to use
There is always going to be some sort of wok when you are trying out different ROMs.... Somewhat nature of the beast.
I have run revolution HD and codename 1.5 so far and prefer codename at this point. Codename is still being upgraded quite often... So maybe more work than revolution.
According to other threads, these random reboots will probably be in every tf101 ICS rom as they are due to old nvidia drivers delivered by asus.
I know what you mean i have a 12kb/s internet connection and downloading roms to try is a pain. I was on revolver 3 and very happy stable fast and reliable. Upgraded to revolver 4 and had to many small problems and it all seemed a little tired and slow. Tried cornerstone and thought nah! Whats the big deal, cant change window position and half the apps dont work. I am now on codename 1.5 and although their are a few little problems it hasn't reebooted got stuck in a loop or slowed to a crawl. Loads of extra settings and the inbuilt launcher is great. So far impressed and will be sticking with it.

Hello, i recently bought an asus transformer and ive rooted it and installed a custom rom well today i had problems with it bootlooping into recovery well i fixed that now for some reason my wifi wont turn on it just says turning on wifi and doesnt do anything so what im wanting to do is fastory restore and unroot the device so i can start fresh can anyone point me into the right direction to do so? Thanks.

You can Nvflash a stock ROM, but Guevor's kernel will also fix your wifi issues. Don't use ROM manager, it causes bootloops. Also try a different ROM (which did you flash), and you must get the CM9/AOKP based kernel to get wifi to work on an AOSP ROM. (See megatron version in guevor's thread)
