Swype Beta for Stock Skyrocket - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

Hello,
How can I get SwypeBeta (better + Dragon) in Stock Skyrocket? I followed the page steps and then I get: "Swype Beta is currently unavailable for devices that have Swype preinstalled" message.
https://beta.swype.com/android/get/:confused:

I don't believe there's a way for you to do that. If you were to root, you could uninstall it with titanium backup, restart your phone and then install it using the swype installer.

There is a really easy way to install the swype beta.
1) Use Titanium backup to uninstall swype
2) REBOOT
3) install "swype installer"
4) install swype beta
Voila

Our you could try jb's Swype themes so you can have an ics themed keyboard. There are others to choose from as well.

I personally used an app called NoBloat it has a picture of a android wielding like a ak but it pretty much allows you to uninstall an app completely (SWYPE) but it backs it up just incase you removed something you werent suppose too. I used it removed swype (deleted the backup) and installed beta.

Hi,
I'm currently an Atrix 4G user and expecting my new shiny Skyrocket to arrive soon. I had swype preinstalled on it and managed to find a way to remove the preinstalled swype using another method. I found it on the swype forum, and this is what I did. Keep in mind, you have to be rooted in order to do this. Also, make sure that in your settings, you've disabled/turned-off swype as a keyboard input and make sure it's NOT the one selected (make sure to select another input), otherwise after reboot you may get stuck.
Using Root explorer or adb shell as root:
1) remove /system/app/Swype.apk OR rename to /system/app/Swype.apk.bak
2) remove /system/lib/libSwypeCore.so OR rename to /system/lib/libSwypeCore.so.bak
3) Reboot device
4) Install swype installer and the rest should work!
Can anyone confirm if this will work on the Skyrocket?

So, I'm a proud owner of a Stock rooted Samsung Skyrocket 2.3.6. I followed my own instructions, and was able to download swype installer and install swype. I then went into settings->languages and checked the swype entry, but when I click on settings it FCs.
I tried resetting - nuthin. Any thoughts?
I have the /system/app/Swype.apk and /system/lib/libSwypecore.so files backed up.....

So, I found this and going to give it a shot:

The new Swype Beta (June 2012) allows it to be installed alongside preinstalled versions of Swype. If you've followed the steps in the post above, then first remember to uninstall your old version of swype completely, then reboot your system, and then undo the steps listed in the post. You should have a fully functional preinstalled version of swype with the swype beta installed alongside it.

G2 launcher2.apk for AOSP rom ONLY

Here is the froyo launcher2.apk from the G2 system dump. You must be rooted and uninstall stock launcher2 first via root explorer or titanium backup. I also suggest making a backup first. It runs smooth on my incredible. 7 home screens, 3D app drawer, etc. I figured i would make it easier for anyone who wants it. Just download then place on your SD Card and install. You do need to allow installation of apps from unknown sources in application settings first.

Touchwiz 4.5 ***EDITED. PLEASE READ EDIT****

Just in case some were not aware, but, Touchwiz works pretty darn well on the GB infused ROM.
Link----> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1061883
I downloaded his TW4 Manager and used the update feature in it to install the touchwiz but I didn't know that it would replace my current. When I did that, and tried to use the default msg app, touchwiz force closes every time you start doing something. So to fix that, I uninstalled TW4 Manager and went to system/app in root explorer and deleted the extra name it added to TouchWiz30Launcher.apk, and then it didnt force close anymore. I don't know if anyone else will have this problem but theres my fix for it.
*********EDIT*********
Some people are getting force closes and most is my fault for incorrectly giving instructions. Sorry.
A way to do it is just rename touchwizlauncher30.apk to something that would change its file extension. Like adding a letter after the .apk and then going to applications/manage applications in the setting then go to all and make sure you have all apps named touch wiz uninstalled and then go to the touchwiz site and just download the basic apk. Not touchwizmanager but just touchwiz4.apk or whatever the correct name is and copy it to system/apps and the click it and install it while still in the folder. Ultimatly, I ditched touch wiz 4 because it was causing my phone to reboot randomly when something was using too much resources. Make sure you have a back up launcher installed like go launcher or something in case you don't like touchwiz and decide to uninstall it from apps/manage apps/all because you wouldn't have a launcher left to do anything. If you want your original touchwiz back just go to system/apps and remove the extra things you added and make sure it says TouchWiz30Launcher.apk I'm not entirely sure if that last part about getting original touchwiz back would work since I ditched it too and just use go launcher but it should in theory work. Sorry for the inconvenience peoples.
*********EDIT*********
Another way to possibly install it without getting force closes would be to just download the TW4Launcher.apk and just copy it to system/app
I find this alot less laggy than the touchwiz that came with Infused V2. Hope yall like it as much as me.

I hope someone can figure it out or he tells us how he got them to work. That was the only reason I downloaded tw launcher 4.5

Sorry for my dumb question but what widgets are that good? I haven't bothered to check the sgs2 out as I'm pretty satisfied with my infuse
Loving tw 4.5, coupled with gtg's rom and bedwa's kernel it is very snappy. Launcher pro still is a bit more customizable, but tw looks cleaner and more sharp.

This also works well on Indused v1 Froyo. As for the widgets, I searched the Galaxy S (I9000) Themes and Apps forum. I've got 10 widgets from the SGS II. They all install, but some of them don't fuction completely. Don't know how I could share them here.

Using a file manager of some sort ie esfile explorer or root explorer. Extract the gs2app.zip and pull this file out "SamsungWidget_WeatherClock.apk.zip" and pull that file within that zip and place it into system/app

Swype's official instructions are to do a clean uninstall first via the following ADB commands (though you can accomplish the same thing with Titanium Backup and Root Explorer or the like):
adb shell
# rm /system/app/Swype.apk
# rm /system/lib/libSwypecore.so
# rm -r /data/data/com.swype.android.inputmethod/ (needs the -r 'cause it's directory)
Some people have had luck simply uninstalling the old .apk and installing the new one, but it's definitely a good idea to also delete libSwypeCore to avoid any issues that could pop up now or with a future update due to an outdated library file.

With this Swype beta in handcent it won't change the enter key to smileys anymore. I installed this Swype last week and it worked fine. Then a few days ago i had to reflash my phone and now the smileys button isn't there. Any ideas? I've tried wiping days for both and deleting and reinstalling both and it still won't work. I use smileys all the time and it's so easy to have the button on the keyboard.

[Theme][EP4D] BioCharge v1 [Debloater][12/01/11]

After an all-nighter, a day, and another all-nighter, I'm proud to present BioCharge; a touch of Bionic for your Charge. This is my first attempt at theming, and an attempt to port the Driod Bionic's UI to the Droid Charge.
NOTE! This theme is anywhere but done, however I consider it full enough to release a copy of it. Very few apps are themed and most apps included are only included for the icon. This theme is still very poopified and will be worked on casually by me over time.
What you need:
dwitherall's flashable EP4D + extras
The latest version of CWM
Bravery and backups
What's included:
A fully themed TouchWiz30Launcher.apk
A handful of icons for stock apps
AOSP Mms.apk (if you want the stock Mms.apk, make a backup of it before flashing)
A debloater in the install script (in case you left the bloat already or are flashing this over a fresh install)
What's to come:
More themed apps
I'll take requests, speak your mind!
Download here!
Screenshots!
Looks very good! Keep up the good work.
Sent from my mobile office.
thank you!
The theme looks great and I look forward to the next release.

could you possibly post a version that does not run the debloat script?
Thanks!
For the problem with the Camera app, you can go into the original zip file for the EP4D update and find the Camera.apk and Camerafirmware.apk and extract them to your SDCard, and then use root explorer to copy and paste both back into your system/app folder. Of course, you should use Titanium backup to uninstall both those files before you copy the new files over. I have both the files on hand, but I don't know if the rules of the forum restrict posting stock apks

[Q] Any way to get rid of Swype and use the Beta version?

I have tried to get rid of the stock swype and install the swype beta. I tried to uninstall it and it is a system app. I tried bloater. I tried to simply delete the app. I thought I had gotten rid of it but the beta wouldn't install.
I am using a stock rom that is rooted and I have ROM Manager installed with the latest 5027 recovery.
I have played with other rom's and can install the beta with no problem.
Any ideas on how to do this?
Thanks.
Download titanium backup and delete it through that app. If you need help ask
Sent from my MyTouch_4G_Slide using xda premium
I had tried that before. I first tried the "trick" way of getting rid of the app through the recovery and that didn't work. Then I converted the app to a user app and then uninstalled it. Then I installed the Swype beta and I chose the correct keyboard but the Android keyboard popped up.
Then I restarted the phone and then installed the Swype beta and all went well. I had tried this before except that I didn't think of restarting the phone.
So, I thank you for confirming that it could be done. This is what we do. We keep trying until we break something or solve the problem.
Did you delete the swype file under system/lib try that and see if that helps.

I used Titanium to convert to a user app. Then I uninstalled it. Then I restarted the phone. Then I installed the swype beta and it works great.
I just wish that it wasn't a beta and could be bought and updated. I have tried many keyboards and always come back to swype.
