Hi,
im wondering if someone can help me out.
I made a nandroid and installed a custom rom with custom kernel (Krakd) all worked great and am still toying around with it and want to go back to stock kernel. I put back the nandroid but am still on the roach kernel i found out that the CWM still doesnt backup the boot but will in a future version which i found out too late. Is there anyone who can get me a zip for CWM so i can put back the stock kernel for 8.6.5.18 ? Its the WW SL101 i have.
Thanks in advance.

did you get the stock kernel? I need the stock kernel too...
Or known some custom rom version that have no problems with the slider.
I tried the Revolver 3.9.5 but It can boot on my slider...
Thank you!!!
Does anybody have the stock kernel for the ASUS Slider ICS?
I tried flashing a Transformer Cyangoenmod and then flashing the Slider Comparability ZIP on top of that but there are too many problems. So, I reinstalled the backup I made before this started, but my tablet still says it is on the Cyanogenmod kernel.
Does anybody have the stock kernel for the ASUS Slider for ICS, know where I can download it, or would be willing to compile it for me from the ASUS website?
Thank you!
Chris Williams
I'm going to bump my thread with a little updated info.
I tried to flash the latest Stock ROM from the ASUS website by installing it on the MicroSD card. It installed just fine but it did NOT overwrite/update the Kernel so it's still trying to use the Kernel written by cyanogenMOD for the Asus Transformer.
The source code for the ASUS Slider Kernel is available on the ASUS website. I don't have enough posts to directly link to it yet unfortunately.
I do not have the expertise to take the stock source code for the kernel and compile it into something I can flash onto my tablet through ClockworkMOD. Can I please beg/donate to somebody to compile this for me? It's been asked for a few times throughout different forums so I'm sure it would benefit more than just myself.
Thank you,
Chris Williams
If I have time today I'll dl and compile it, I'm sure its in a thread somewhere though.
Otherwise you can flash Guevor's kernel which works great with stock
Thanks Thing-O-Doom. I'll be happy to be back on the stock kernel since the stock ROM is pretty darn close to vanilla Android and by rooting I've got the few functions I do use that are "advanced."
Do you know if Guevor's kernel works with the ASUS Slider also or is it just for the Transformer?
Thanks,
Chris
Bumping my thread with updated info.
I was experiencing a booting problem where the tablet was booting into ClockworkMOD by default but I didn't think the problems were related... they were. Because upon reboot it was going directly into ClockworkMOD it was not allowing ANY new install process to work. I discovered this when I tried to flash Guevor's latest kernel and it STILL said CyanogenMOD. Imagine my surprise.
So, I got the booting problem corrected and sure enough the new kernel installed just fine and appears to be okay for the moment so I'm back to having a functioning tablet. Yay!
If somebody would still be willing to compile the stock ASUS Slider Kernel for me and post it I will gladly donate to them. While Guevor's kernel does work I would prefer to be back on the Stock Kernel designed specifically for the tablet.
Thank you,
Chris
So I am the proud owner of an ASUS Transformer OG, B70 series, and I have rooted with razorclaw, flashed the ROM with PRIME 2.1.1 and the kernal with netformer 1.6, overclocked to 1.6 GHz, and I'm really wondering what the new OTA .21 update does for the Transformer, what does it include? I've heard bug fixes (which ones??) and HDMI update (to what end?), and I'm wondering also if this is a pre-update for the ICS update expected soon...should I unroot and update to .21 so I can get the ICS update or hope that the devs crack the ICS update for rooted PRIME 2.1.1 users?
Thanks!
As of right now, the OTA of .21 breaks being able to root using razorclaw, so beware if that. There's a downgrade, but it's not 100% right now.
Ok, so just so you guys know what is possible and what I was asking, basically I know that ICS is goind to be running on Yaffs file system, at least for the Epic 4G that I also have, and I was basically wondering if this update was the PRE-ICS update, a pre-requisite to updating to ICS. BUT, just because I wanted to make sure, and didn't have 10 posts/much cred here, I was running-
ROM- PRIME 2.1.1
Kernal- Netformer 1.6
Yet I read that the 8.6.5.21 update also fixed some glitches, HDMI issues, GPS update etc., and I didn't want to go without that. I read over in DEV that they had fixed the .21 updater so that it could be applied without breaking root, but only over the stock ROM. SO, I reverted back to stock and flashed over the WW version 8.6.6.23, after trying the 8.6.5.21 for both US and WW, and both aborting while trying to access system/build.prop. Thus, I updated with the fixed 8.6.6.23 updater, reloaded Razorclaw, regained root, flashed recovery, and installed a new ROM (this time I tried the KRAKD ROM, and I like it alot with the samurai kernal UV/OC), I didn't check the device versions before applying the .23 update, and since I wasn't told whether it was necessary, I figured if nothing else I might as well do it since I presume it fixes/updates the GPS with or without rooting and flashing a new rom..but any clarification from a DEV would be nice. I'm trying to get into it and learn as much as I can.
Thanks!

Guys - even if it's an older version of Hneycomb in NVFlash format, it will still help...
Here is what I'd recommend (as it worked perfectly for me) - it 10 easy steps!
1. Download this stock Honeycomb image in NVFlash format. It's not the latest version of Honeycomb, but it really doesn't matter, becuase once you install and root it, you are just going to install CWM recovery and install a custom Honeycom ROM over top of it anyway (which IS based on the latest version of Honeycomb):
http://www.tabletroms.com/forums/tr...stock-3-2-recovery-roms-unbricking-tools.html
2. Download rootkit for above version of Honeycomb:
http://www.4shared.com/rar/-IYDraGZ/Brkroottoolkitv71.html?
3. Download CWM Recovery.
4. NVFlash the image downloaded in step 1.
5. Boot Honeycomb (skip all configurations!) and then root it using the rootkit downloaded in step 2.
6. After Honeycomb is rooted, install CWM Recovery downloaded in step 3.
7. Download Revolver 3.11 and 3.11.1 patch
8. Install Revolver 3.11 via CWM.
9. Install Revolver 3.11.1 patch via CWM.
10. Enjoy Honeycomb stability again!
Or something close to that....
EDIT: Added links to NVFlash'able ROM and root kit.
The problem with HC revolver was that it took to long to boot up. Prime ROM did not have the same problem.

Why is the boot-time such a big deal? I never reboot my device (at least now that I'm not on ICS anymore!), so the boot-time is almost meaningless...
I guess if you turn your device off every time you use it, that would be a pain.
Probably the reason that Revolver takes longer is becuase of what it's doing at boot-time (optimatizations, etc)...

If you are willing to root and flash custom roms, first try a custom ICS rom in combination with a custom kernel instead of going back to honeycomb.
A lot of people got good results by using guevor's latest kernel.
Yeah that's what I'm trying to decide cause I need my pad daily use with not to much reboota and sods

I have already rooted my TF and made ready for a custom rom, but it seems that there is a fix available
[Kernel] ICS test (OC, UV) (test13) V9.2.2.3
Between HC and ICS, I thing ICS is far better (except for the stability issues), so I will give this a shot first before downgrading to HC.
As per my question on this thread HC Revolver sounds as a choice to many XDA members, so plan B should be this one.
some issues
Is revolver more stable now? I could never get the vga adapter to work. or it simply not freezing. This was last november.
If you're willing to go through the trouble to downgrade, you may as well just flash guevors test kernel or the TastyMehIcs kernel (in my sig) to fix the ics problems. I've had no problems on ARHD/Megatron with tastymeh 1.0 at all.
Edit: just looked at my uptime (I don't ever turn off really) 232 hours since last turnoff. That's stable enough for me!
I wanna know what good HC ROMs are out there too.
SoD doesn't happen to me at all, but I'm sick of the graphical glitches that are present throughout the ICS ROMs. People say it's only when you press recents - not true for me. I get it pressing recents, browsing youtube, in the nvidia apps, playing games, sometimes at the home screen, settings menu, etc.
It's very brief, but at the frequency it occurs, it's annoying. I want to know if it's present in HC as well. When I was on HC I never noticed it, but my device was on HC for maybe a total of two hours, so idk. The screen rotation thing is kinda annoying to. You turn the device, screen goes black for like a second, then it does the rotation animation. Things like that bother me cause it's not like that on my phone, even when I run ICS on that and it's not even receiving an ICS update.

Be patient - we're beta testing a beta release now (.24) and it seems that the graphical glitches are fixed (I KNOW the recent-apps "diagonal tearing" is fixed at least) - I've never noticed any other glitches, to be honest...

I wouldn't trust a rootkit , especially one hosted on 4shared. Just saying. A link to the original post would be nice.

I haven't noticed these issues on the ROMs I've tried. And revolver is by far the best HC based ROM.

Actually, that 4shared link is the link from the original post - I just copied the link here... I've personally used it and it's fine...

Turns out a lot of my issues were eliminated by flashing revolver and the androidhd builds,.probably cause they're essentially the stock ICS build.

Thanks for guide.
I just found out I have a b50, and tried NVFLASH of ICS... worked for maybe 2-3 hrs, thought there was hope... and now it just froze playing music.
If this thing cannot even play music without glitching, whats the point really at all?
If this HC downgrade (and stay there) doesn't work, I'm selling this ASAP.
Hello, i recently bought an asus transformer and ive rooted it and installed a custom rom well today i had problems with it bootlooping into recovery well i fixed that now for some reason my wifi wont turn on it just says turning on wifi and doesnt do anything so what im wanting to do is fastory restore and unroot the device so i can start fresh can anyone point me into the right direction to do so? Thanks.

You can Nvflash a stock ROM, but Guevor's kernel will also fix your wifi issues. Don't use ROM manager, it causes bootloops. Also try a different ROM (which did you flash), and you must get the CM9/AOKP based kernel to get wifi to work on an AOSP ROM. (See megatron version in guevor's thread)
