anyone know of something like this that exists? my laptop protrudes sd cards, so I was thinking if I got a half sized micro sdhc to sd converter it would work, however I cannot find such a thing, anyone have any ideas? Also I don't have any spare usb ports
I always buy my SD cards micro, as I have a micro to mini converter and the mini sits inside my mini to full converter. That way I can use my card in anything. You can pick them up on Amazon for next to nothing. At least that's what I assume you mean

no i mean my sd card protrudes my laptop, like it only goes in half way, the rest sticks out. That is why I wanted a half sized converter from microsdhc to sd.

I just got an Epic 4G and while the 16GB microsd card is plenty of space for most stuff, once I start putting alot of converted movies on there, it will disappear fast. Now, I had another 16GB microsd card, along with a class 6 8GB card and a 4GB card, all micro-sd. Is there any way at all to plug something into the micro-usb port on the top of the Epic and have a micro-sd reader at the other end and then have the phone be able to mount the extra/2nd micro-sd card so I can then play movies/etc from there rather than having to constantly pull off the back cover and swap cards?

This seems pretty impossible, i looked up some info on the subject and
well... all results were negative
how hard is it really to swap out that little card on the back though! i mean come on, years ago we had to swap out vcr tapes for ONE movie!

Also I have two 32 gb cards on me. One for movies and music. The other for everything else

I've got a 10" SuperPad running 2.2. (Flytouch2) It has 2 regular usb ports and will read thumb drives just fine. (Ud0 and ud1)
Leads me to believe it would be kernal based. If you has a female usb to microusb male and a usb micro reader, as long as the kernal had support I don't see why it couldn't be done.. but the devs would need to confirm or deny.

it could simply be a driver issue. i may try to splice a few cables tomite.
When I go on holiday I'll take my Asus Transformer with me but was wondering is there any way to transfer any photo's I take on my Canon camera to the Asus? I won't have access to a PC, my camera uses a SD card and of course the Asus is Micro SD, any idea's would be much appreciated.
get a micro sd card with a SD card adapter?
yes I do have a micro SD adaptor but this does not help me, the photo's will be on my Canon camera SD card which will not fit into the Asus micro SD socket, normally with access to a pc it isn't a problem to transfer the photo's, so what I need to do is to get them onto the Micro SD card, this can't be done with the adaptor.
then remove the micro sd card from your TF. put it in the adapter and then magically the photos will be on the micro sd card. and on a simpler note
no. either get another micro sd card with an adapter, and use it on your camera. after you are done just unplug it and put it in your TF :/
Yes, instead of using your SD card in your camera, use the MicroSD with adapter card in the camera. Then all you have to do is remove the MicroSD card and adapter from the camera and then remove the MicroSD from the adapter and then place the MicroSD card into the TF.

Logic!, supremely executed
Or, you can buy the Dock/Keyboard which has an SD reader built in.
lol that too. but i doubt the fella is going to do that
It's more logical to get a Keyboard/dock because it will actually help in the resell value of the TF when you eventually get ready to sell it. People are more apt to get the whole package instead of just a partail one.
true. i mean the main point of the TF is the ability to change into a netbook.
kinda reminds me of the old head masters everytime i dock the TF in the back of my head i yell "HEAD ON!!"
Yes that would work but the drawback would be that I would have to keep swapping between the micro SD card and the SD card when I want to record video as my camera takes HD video at 1080 and I don't think my micro SD card would be fast enough.

get the dock
The dock is your best bet at this point. The price has been lowered enough now that it worth it's weight in gold so-to-speak.
You can also buy the ASUS usb adapter. (which is a flimsy piece of c**p), but you can connect an USB cable to your cam and to the adapter which goes in the power connector of the TF.
If you have a Canon DSLR you can even control the cam with your TF https://market.android.com/details?id=eu.chainfire.dslrcontroller
You might have to restart you TF to get it working. But it does work
Get Eye-Fi Pro. In direct mode, it automatically connects to TF and upload all new pictures. I've been using for few months with wife's Canon 300HS and absolutely love it.
Thanks for the idea's, I just have to work out which will suit be best.
Hey there folks, I was wondering if there was a special type of internal adapter to exist that would allow me to use 2, 64 GB micro sd cards in my phone. I'm looking for like a male micro sd card input-to-dual female micro sd card output adapter to connect to the female micro sd card input in the inside of my phone. It would use the same concept of the cable that is used to connect a desktop hard drive to the power source, then from the power source to the motherboard to make the drive primary or slave.... I think cuz I cant remember the name of that kind of cable?
Anyways, it would look kind of like this:
__________ _____
\_PHONE_/ __ \M-SD/
I I / \___/
I_I_______/
I _____
I____/M-SD\

Why not just get a wireless hard drive? I have one and it's awesome.
Interesting - what brand do you have?
I have the SanDisk 64 GB Micro SD Card. It's the Class 10, grey and red-colored one. Iv'e never had any issues with my card, I just want to be able to add another 64 GB card without having to lug around a hard drive. There was a guy who had a similar kind of cable adapter setup but it was a male micro sd card input-to-dual female (reguar-sized) sd card output and his S3 was able to recognize his total memory of 128 GB's. How expensive, how big in physical size, and how big in GB size are wireless HDD's these days??

They had something like that before, can't seem to find it, you can try to contact them.
The price isn't cheap nor expensive.
http://www.redtron.com/
you can also try this place.

The sandisk 128gb sd cards work with the s4, so this might be the easiest solution.
Yes, I realize the 128GB micro SD Card from SanDisk works with the Galaxy devices but I had initially asked the question way before the 128GB mSD came out this year. But still, if such a PCI type of card reader extender exists & it could let your galaxy device read (2) 128GB mSD cards.... WOW!
Sent from my SGH-M919 using xda premium
Ahh ha! I found it... kind of. It's basically this: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/2014...rd-Compact-Flash-CF-Card-Type/1889508912.html but has (2) strips coming off if it to tie into a set of dual micro SD TF adapters. This would allow you to input the male side of this adapter into the back of the phone/tablet, while you could potentially input (2) 128GB micro SD cards into each slot of the TF adapter. If I remember correctly, this guy's version years ago was similar to what I'm looking for but his had 2 TF slots each for 2 separate regular-sized SD cards and was able to read up to 128GB's or so with his. Im saying, take the same technology but add 2 TF adapters to input (2) 128GB micro SD cards instead and put the male end of the adapter into the female micro SD card slot into the back of the tablet/phone.

I bought a female USB to male micro USB adapter and I can plug a thumb drive into my phone. It works great for transferring files. Now I just need a splitter to power an external hard drive to see if my phone can read that too.
It also works with a wireless mouse and keyboard USB dongle.
Similar to this:

The only dual micro sd adapter I have ever seen was for the playstation portable. 2 cards into one memory stick adapter. I have used the full sd to micro sd with a 128gb card. Worked fine when formatted to fat 32.
Now that 128gb micro sdxc cards are availble, no need for that Macguyver stuff.
Now if you could find an microsd to otg cable adapter with multiple microsd slots, that would be a winner.
Yeah, now you're talking... with "the micro usb-to-multiple micro SD card slot!" Imagine if there was an OTG cable just like that with support for dual/triple micro SD cards each at 128GB's and that the OTG cable could read it on all Galaxy tablets & the S4 & S5's?! Ohhhh the insanity!! :what:
The iSheep would have heart-attacks!
I shall buy the first OTG triple micro SD card cable you make if you patent it and build it!
:thumbup::beer:

...or just get an OTG cable and format an external portable drive to Fat32 and duct tape it all together 2TB in the palm of your hand!
honestly, and thin film OTG ribbon cable with built in USB hub and multiple SD card slots should work it could be thin enough fold over and to be double sided taped to the exterior of your battery cover without being too obvious. this would add maybe 2-3mm overall in thickness. probably wouldn't be to durable though. maybe integrate it into a TPU cover/case to protect the thin cable...
but then we are starting to get ridiculous.
See, now you're getting somewhere with your "usb hub & multiple SD card slots" idea MadMan. I saw an OTG cable with dual female micro SD slots but it was too thick (like an inch thick) and had a super sticky/tacky tape on the back so one could attach it to the back of your phone or phone case. Just too bulky. Although, the Wifi idea is something to look into as well but I'm usually not in areas that have Wifi, thus the desire for more space without carrying around an external HDD.
I was looking for basically a male Micro SD Extension Cable (like you see below) with a ribbon type connection but has dual female Micro SD slots so it could fit between the back of the phone and front of the battery or back of phone and front of phone case... not for the extension cable to be put on the back side of the phone case.

Interesting
the psp adaptors work good but are very flimsy
Just get a dual interface flash drive, micro usb + usb PC storage. The sandisk ones are pretty cheap and go up to 128gb. Theyre really small too, dont stick out much on the phone. Plus the storage speeds are much faster than micro SD and all your files are on one storage. I use mine for screen recording games with no lag or stutter, whereas writing to the micro SD causes a lot of games to pause so the card can catch up. Easier transfer to PC or sharing with other USB readable devices too. Much more worth it than a dual micro SD port (though it sounds pretty awesome)
Ok, so ya'll can keep this post going but I have officially lost interest due to my S5 having caught fire last week! Due to the damages to the phone, being a very long-standing TMobile customer, and misinformation from a few folks.... I have now received a FREE upgrade to a Galaxy S8! So happy now! Now I'll just swap over my *still working, yet undamaged* 64 GB Micro SD Card but maybe get the 256 GB SanDisk Micro SD Card in the future just for the hell of it... cuz I can! :silly:
Here's a pic that I took with my burner phone of my S5 after it caught fire.

And how in the hell did you manage that?
My 9-month-old Transcend 32 GB micro SDHC card has gone tits up.
One day, Android just flashed up in the corner: "SD card is blank or has unsupported filesystem."
I have a micro SD-to-USB converter and when I plug that into my PC and double-click on the drive, Windows tells me no disk is inserted.
If I insert the micro SD card into a micro SD-to-SD card converter and that converter into a laptop's card reader, Windows asks me to reformat the drive. If I choose OK, the top box ("Capacity") shows 30.6 MB, so I haven't formatted it yet.
Any ideas?
From your PC's command prompt, run check disk with the fix switch enabled (chkdsk /f) on the drive assigned to your Micro SD/USB. I get that same issue with my 32gb SD card too sometimes, and check disk has never failed to fix it.

It's a common problem with the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 tablets, corrupting or destroying microSD cards. It's possible the cards are getting hot and self-destructing.
ONLY use a brand new industrial temperature grade card good for -40 to +85°C and it should be more reliable. To avoid getting a repackaged, defective, used, or counterfeit card do not buy from an online 3rd party, only buy from the manufacturer, "Sold by Amazon" (not an Amazon 3rd party seller), or a franchised brick-and-mortar store like Best Buy.
Repackaged, defective, used, and counterfeit microSD cards are everywhere and everywhere. It looks new but it isn't.
I've trying to look for these products although I'm not sure if they exist or not.
1) A MicroSD extension cable which simply uses a ribbon cable to extend the port, ideal is you want to use a case which for a phone which has a removable back.
2) An SD card which can essentially hold 2 MicroSD cards within it. A standard SD card adapter usually holds only 1 MicroSD card although I personally their is enough for 2 cards, I was wondering does it exist ?
If these products are out their, I would be grateful if you could provide details on how I can purchase them. I am a UK resident so would shopping be available. Thank You

Why do you need this cable? If your phone has a slot for 1(!) micro sd card you will never be able to mount 2 sd cards as the device can't handle it!!! If you need more space just go for a bigger micro sd card
