So after doing some the mods from RomTools... all of the sudden my SD card is write protected??
Can can see files but can not add or delete. I've taken it out....try to fix from Win 7...still write protected...then I tried to format from comp.. no go...then I tried right in the phone...nope.
Tried fixing permissions multiple times and it's the same.
Any ideas or suggestions?

look on the card itself most full sized sd cards have a switch of sorts to write protect them on the physical card itself. ive never seen one on a micro-sd card but it cant hurt to look.
if thats not the case then something in your SD Card broke. Micro-SD cards should not have any way to write-protect them from a format.
Yeah..no switch on the micro
I don't even see how it got write protected

then your card is most likely shot. if its fairly new (and you dont mind wasting time) try calling up the manufacturer and requesting a replacement.
Ah crap
What I feared...it's a older card used between different phones I've had.
I appreciate the help

Earlier today my Inspire started throwing "memory card unexpectedly removed" errors. I've removed and reinserted the card, rebooted my phone several times, to no avail. It will detect the card after reboot but couple minutes later it will throw the error again. Any suggestions?

Have u tried putting the card in a pc? Is the memory card the one that came with the phone or a less expensive but has more storage card?

Yes, my laptop recognizes it but it's kinda slow to read. It's not a stock card, I've had this 16GB card for while.

You may want to consider doing a full, not quick, re-format of the card using your computer.
Always be sure to unmount ("safely remove hardware") the card in the OS, whether it's on the phone, or on your computer, before removing it physically. Not doing so corrupts the card.

I wasn't suggesting that you had removed it, just suggesting a good practice to follow that avoids corrupting the card, along with something to try to get it to stop throwing errors: a fresh format.
Why not get/borrow another known working card to test out whether the behavior continues?
That'll tell you right away where the problem is.

That is a sign of an SD card going out in general terms. I had it happen to mine a week ago, but it only did it in camera modern, then eventually migrated to everything. Could put it in my computer and read it but it read extremely slow. Finnaly stopped working all together.

Don't remember the brand but I just saw one on Amazon for $55.00 shipped with Prime. I don't really need 32GB, so I'll just settle for a cheaper 16GB
Hey guys, I just recently saw when I turned my phone on, it says sd unexpectedly removed, when in fact it is in there. If I take it out and re insert it, it doesn't say anything? I would try to use this on my laptop but I know the reader on my laptop is busted (plus I'm at work). Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Not sure, I had a 32gb card myself and it started acting weird on me. Doing th e are thing, acting like it wasn't there, needed formating or some such. I switched to my old 16gb card from my droid X and it worked perfectly. I think not was just a bad card. It's possible as the prices came down and these cards got cheaper the quality control has dropped. . I might add that that was my second 32gb card The first one wouldn't even work in my laptop when i tried to format it and got so hot that it burned my fingers when took it out!
Short Story is you may have a duff card. Try an old sd card just to make sure it's not your phone.

Sounds like a duff card. What brand of card is it?
I'd say as a last ditch attempt when you can try using a laptop and make sure it's not formated to exFAT. When mine went bad my laptop wouldn't even let me format it

I had a generic 32GB card workinf for me perfectly from day one, but recently I bought a SanDisk 64GB and I can't get my phone to recognize it (my computer does), I'm thinking it has to be in the right format, which formats will the phone recognize and which won't it?
Try it in cwm. There is a page that does give info on partition and speed somewhere on the net.
Afterward, fix permissions.

Fat32 if you intend to be a rooted user
Fat32 is the stock format OOB and will work well with all devices.
Ext4 is androids partition for apps.

I got this notification on my SIII saying the SD card is blank? I am not sure what happened but all my photos are gone except for 1. I have downloaded Glary undelete (free undelete file softwre). I then tried to scan the card with the software and it says the card is not formatted, do you want to format? I thought I read here that if i format the card I will lose any ability to recover the deleted photos? Can anyone help me with my problem???

No luck on finding anything in the Lost.dir folder. Thanks for the advice the I really appreciate it!!!
I had it happen right when I got the phone, sucks. I make a habit of backing up to dropbox every few days.
I couldn't get it to mount one day, a quick spray of canned air into where the card goes seemed to fix it. It must get really dusty in there.
Another cool thing about dropbox, esp if you have the hacked 50gb account, you can "favorite" all of your music and it will allow you to listen to it without using data. I keep all my music in the favorite section, it takes time to do the first time but better than being stuck at work without music.
This has happened to me twice before. Turns out the SD cards died. Both 32gb sandiscs. Finally pay the extra for a Samsung 32gb class ten. Haven't looked back

Don't take any chances and get it warranty replaced ASAP. Even if it starts working again it might give you trouble down the line. The bottom line is that it shouldn't be doing what you say it is doing at all. This shows the importance of the warranty because stuff like this will happen no matter which phone you have, especially with early releases.
^+1. You've paid for an expensive phone, that's not acceptable, regardless. Just get it replaced anyways. Unless it's a standard issue everyone's experiencing, which I doubt.
Take a photo screen shot next time it happens as proof. You should be able to walk into ATT and get it replaced.
