Anyone know of a APP that will put Now Playing controls in my status bar - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

I saw it in a screenshot for the music player was wondering if there was something for grooveshark, pandora, or spotify that does the same?

I know Android Music Player has controls in the status bar pull-down menu and depending on the Android version (like CM7) sometimes is on the lockscreen as well. You really don't need one with Pandora or anything like that because the icon appears in the status bar pull-down menu and if you click it it takes you right to the song playing.
Maybe it could be built into a rom but I don't think there is an app for that!

Power amp does.

It will work with grooveshark?

My pandora also shows up in my pull down... So I guess I'm at a loss for what you are looking for.

I have attached a screenshot of the controls for PowerAmp.
They are not persistent. If you stop music playback the controls disappear from the notification area. You can advance to the next song.

What rom are you on? Those screenshots are from ICS leak (stock). The controls do not show up with gingerbread.

I'd love to know about Spotify, I'd love to have easier to access controls for it.

That's awesome I'm going to try that right now.
The thing I miss most about my Captivate with CM7/9 is that they were getting much better with the lock screen controls working with Grooveshark. The first time I saw it, it would work 50/50 with Grooveshark or starting the stock music player. I think that GS did a fair bit of updates to their mobile app in order to make it work better with media controls now though...
I have spent a fair bit of time corresponding with the kids at GS and all I can say is they are freaking AWESOME!!! Grooveshark is my favorite program on the internet EVER!
They also gave me this lil gem, so I kinda love them. Really impressive devs at GS though, that's for sure.

Notification Music Player

Hey guys, basically I'm looking for a music player app that lets you control your music (previous, play/pause, next) from the notification bar. Are there any music apps out there that have this ability?
Thanks.

Samsung Music Player. IDK how you'll get it though when you don't have a samsung device, since the notification bar music controller is part of the touchwiz UI.
I can't get Widgetsoid to show things in the pull-down menu..
Try CM7
The latest nightly builds of CM7 gives you the power to put widgets in the pull down bar to control your music. If you flash a cm7 rom and you go into cyanogenmod settings, you'll find them under 'widgets' there somewhere. So it would not matter what music player you have. It will control it for you. I hope this helps.
Thanks, but i'm not yet comfortable flashing my device. I'm too dependent on it that if something goes wrong, i'm f*****.
Plus my computer died one hour ago.

It didn't work on my Samsung SGS. Maybe if I start a music player first, it would work. But in that case, the default player is just better (for its controls, not in terms of overall features).
I really don't know why no one has tried to post the SGS default music player. It does not have all those features like PlayerPro, but having controls in the notification area (as well as a nice lock screen widget) really is great. If only it could be made to only play songs by folder...
better music player does this i also found on here if you search for the samsung music widget works pretty nice too!

Honeycomb Music app

Anyone using the Honeycomb music app? Im giving it a try it installed just fine for me. Works good and looks really nice. Give it a try, just google it.
Just got it. it works great and is better looking than the stock music player.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App
where is the apk?
Just Google "honeycomb music player apk". A bunch of links out there.
I like the player but the thing I miss is the ability to use the Inspires Dolby or SRS sound enhancements. They really make a difference.
I'm using it. It's pretty nice

Sometimes a really good pair of IEM's will cure the need for sound enhancers. IE7/8, Westone UM3, Shure 500 series. These top off the rack IEM's are why i love digital music.
i tried a couple of places but it never installs right for me
I just installed it two things bug me though. I there any way I could get it working as a replacement for the stock music player? Like making it work with the lockscreen and work right in the notifications area?
It's much better than stock even though it can be glitchy.

You would have to remove the stock app to make new one default.
I get the pause and play buttons on the lockscreen, is that what your talking about.

It must be because i'm still using sense. I'm going to flash a different lockscreen and see if that fixes it.
I removed the stock apk and sideloaded the honeycomb music player Is there a specific way to replace it instead of that?
where have you guys gotten yours? i want to use it but it never works

Can anyone upload ics miui v4 music .apk?

Can't seem to find it anywhere, please pm me it or post it here , thanks

This one works:
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/57001718/Music.apk
You have to copy it to system/apps and set the usual permissions.
But imo it's not quite ready.

I will continue to use the CM9 music player. This MIUI v4 player has some nice looks and plays music well, it also has some nice features (like the automatic displaying of lyrics, a sleep timer function, an integrated equalizer and ID3 tag editor). But I miss two things: a homescreen widget (don't know why I'm not finding one) and the player controls in the status bar.

Did you still have Google music installed with miui? Maybe that's the cause and I tried it, if fcs a lot ...... but doesn't freeze the phone by eating resources like cm9 does.....

[Q] Lock Screen Music Player Controls

I posted in the original thread of the ROM I'm using but I got no answer: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1602216
Basically, either on the default lock screen or the AOSP lock screen I flashed, none of my music players (which are all supposed to have lock screen controls) have any. Rdio, Spotify, and the default Music Player app - none of them display the controls. Anyone have any ideas what could be wrong?
None of them will work unless you use the sammy lockscreen. poweramp works fine for me with the default

Best Music Player (IMO)

Just a heads up! I found a really sweet music player that plays any file music file type that I throw at it! It's called DeaDBeef Player. Get it here. You'll also have to install the free plugins pack, which is here. I do a lot with music and what not, and this is the only player that I found that will play wavs; including 24 bit wavs! It's a little ugly, but VERY functional--I may try to theme it.
Does it have lockscreen controls?
Does it have a built in equalizer?

I dunno about lockscreen controls--I don't use 'em--but I know it has a 10-band EQ with a preamp control. Also, the free version has no limited functionality, just that it has ads and the pro does not.
Can you defeat the equalizer/tone controls? (Not just "zero" them, but remove them entirely from the path)

I'm not sure I understand what you're asking, but here's what you get in the EQ: 10 bands and 1 preamp (each with their own slider), levels from -20db - +20db, on and off button, presets button, and an "all zero" button. Hopefully that answered your question.
I believe Jeff is asking if you can "bypass" the software EQ and the associated sound degradation that a software EQ introduces. Please correct me if I'm wrong Jeff.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda app-developers app
That's correct. The better your headphones/IEMs get, the more you hear the kind of distortion introduced by most EQ software.
It looks like it has an "on/off" for the EQ which should hopefully pull it out of the signal path.
Sorry guys! For some reason I didn't get any new post notifications by email... but yeah, the on/off button acts as the "defeat" in regards to EQ. I also found out that this is using the same audio engine as the Linux version (link).
Says the Android version is very different but than try for sharing I will try it out
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda premium
I tried it out and it doesn't have the lock screen or a status bar control. Sorry, gotta find something else.
Yeah... it's more for audiophiles than your average mp3 user. It will play anything...
