[Q] Totally Newbie Please new some help - Samsung Galaxy SL i9003

Hello guys,
I am reading about flashing, rooting, installing cROMS, and so many things in this forum. Frankly speaking i am totally confused!
Currently I am using Stock rom of samsung , I am on 2.3.6 Gingerbread
Code:
PDA:I9003DDKP2
Phone: I9003DDKP4
CSC: I9003ODDKPH
earlier My phone was on Froyo, when I upgraded using KIES to 2.3.6 my phone has became smoother, but I don't know what is issue with battery life.
In 1 hour time span on GPRS+Display ON+surfing it drains like 10% + battery.
I tried battery calibration. I have never factory reset phone yet. I used an app called battery calibrator from market.
I drained my whole battery and recharged it to 100% .. and so on.. but still I am facing same issue.
I have root my galaxy SL i9003 using DoomLord's tool kit.
Actually now I want to try some other cROMs , Firmwares. Wherever I am having a look at any cROM thread I find pre-requisite as some other base ROMs.
Now can anybody tell me how do I install any other cROM compatible with the above build. I am really newbie when it comes to flashing and all. So please can anyone of you help me and let me understand what I should do to install some other ROM, and I am downloading GalaxySL DDKP2 stock rom, so if any problem occurs how do I reflash with original stock rom?
Some guidance is really appreciated.

Try crom poseidon and uc kernel. You have to follow this. Xxkpe-xxkpq-uc kernel-poseidon rom. Battery calibration is a myth. Most mods now are based on xxkpq so I advice you to have an xxkpq based crom.
I am having 2+ days of battery life with uc kernel and poseidon.

Thanks for reply
@earldroid thank you for reply. Another thing i want to ask if I want to go back to original Stock ROM then how do I do it?

[Q] Samsung galaxy s i9000 noob asking

Hello xda forum! I am new and totally NOOB! I recently bought a galaxy s i9000 from a little research in the forum I decided that I have to root it because I am already having a lot of problems.. I am having now the original firmware from samsung(updated via kies) and I am in version 2.3.3 (basebend version I9000XXJVO and kernel version 2.6.35.7-I9000XWJVI-CL210427 [email protected] #2 ...I have no idea what are those things!!! and build number GINGERBREAD.XWJVI) I want to root it on Ice cream sandwich! It look so cool and fast. but I have no idea how and which rom to choose because I saw 3-4 different in the forum.
So...
1. I want to learn how to root and what do I need.
2. I want your opinions on the ics roms (suggest me whats the best)
3. Is everyone have the same problem with the battery!?
4. If I done this and then I want to take the rom out is it possible?
I really thanks you for your time! and sorry if I created a same post..
more info about my phone (found them with a code):
GT-i9000HKDEUR
PDA I9000XWJVI
PHONE I9000 XXJVO
CSC I9000 XXJV9
Thanks again for everything!!!
1)To root your Galaxy S you can use this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682 quick and easy.
2) I personally have not used the ICS roms for SGS but this one seems to be the most stable one around http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1398223
3) Battery issues plagued me when I got my SGS as well, I would suggest getting something like Juice Defender off the market it can greatly help out battery life
4) Yes it is possible to go back to stock firmware all you need to do is flash back the stock firmware which you can find through Google.
1)to root my galaxy I used a modded kernel like cf root or semaphore which give you the root permissions and cwm
2)i never tried a ics rom because i'll try one of them when they will become stable, i don't like beta/alpha roms
3)battery isn't very very good...i can arrive till 8 pm normally, but if i start playing, wifi, music...in 4 hours battery is ko
4)yes if you want to take the rom out, you can flash a stock firmware/rom
hope it helps
then tell me how it has gone
thanks guys for your answers..I will think about doing it..and if I have any other question I will ask you...really thanks from your help
I use and still testing the stock ICS and i have to say that you MUST not install it in my experience so far in a week it have some issues. I am a noob too but learning, and this is a very versatil phone to use and manage. Meanwhile i sugest to upgrade to oldEr versions of GINGERBREAD

[Q] Galaxy Ace GT-S5830D Koodo "network" problem cyanogen 7.1 kang

Hello... I am a new ( noob ) in THE XDA forum. So if I do a things that I'm not supposed to do, told it to me. ( I speak french so I will do my best I can )
Now the real things:
- I flash my GT-S5830"D" to cyanogen 7,1 ; 9, official, unofficial... What ever, with no * succes. (I dont now if the "D" is important)
The wifi always crash ( need to close and re-open it ), my ACE wont receive SMS or share it "sometimes" and the DEL brightness always change ( the screen become black and after it come like normal )
- I'm with Koodo ( TELUS ). I think that Koodo are the problem, because they make our Android OS and bla bla.
- If you cant help me for CyanogenMod, try to restore of my first OS.
-->I backup it with CWM 5, but it wont install it correctly. ( boot logo stay on the "Galaxy ACE bla bla..." )
Very big thanks.
P.S. if you help me and it work, I will work to help programing Galaxy ACE! I promise.

Yes I've try full or not with Odin and the firmwares install with no problem. It is when I open the phone problem start. I can rarely share a SMS or receive.
So I'm relly thinking that a need a special Koodo firmware or a developper who can create me a special firmware.
Okay,
First thing, CM7 will work with your Ace.
Second thing, you cannot use CWM to restore a backup of a stock ROM.
Third thing, check your APN settings. You are going to need to manually create a Sp.koodo.com APN with all the settings detailed inside.
Did you have any problems flashing?

Yes you cannot flash your stock ROM with CWM, flash it with odin instead.
About installing-uninstalling thing nope it will not break your motherboard and it has nothing to do with it
Just flash a different ROM via CWM 4 or 5. My favorite is the Myth, it's based on stock with a couple of nice performance mods. It works great on the Ace.
PS. Don't listen to Koodo, they don't know what they are talking about...

You may try flasing tj_droid Stocklite v6.. based on the latest firmware DDKQ8, Pure stock bareboned + Scripts - will definitely makes your phone smooth..
Try a new one
Well if u do wanna switch to cyananogen then why are u trying CM7.1??
Go for 7.2 and best try Miracle v4ROM on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1583871
Just follow the simple instructions
Remember to adhere strictly to the instructions otherwise u can get into problem
After installing u will not see your messages..so in that thread some files like <All System Apps> are given..unzip them and put on ur SD..
then using any Root explorer paste those files (like mms.apk for messaging service) in /system/apps
Thats all...u will see a great ROM...extremely fast with ICS layouts..
Don't forget to hit THANKS if i helped..
resolved
Ok my problem seem to be resolved... On the internet I finally found a Koodo 2.3.4 galaxy ace firmware to flash with ODIN. So I flash it, but I reinstall CM 7.2.0 FAT KANG and it seem to work now!! To answer your question or anyone else's, you'll have to change the CSC to Telus/Koodo. But first make sure you're on a full-package DTLKI4 firmware
First, write down your IMEI that you find in About Phone > Status
Then go into your phone dialer and punch in *#272*your imei#
You'll have a list of CSC codes to choose from, and hopefully TLS/KDO will be on there.
Changing your csc WILL do a complete factory reset on your phone, so be prepared to do that.
Great thanks

[Q] KIES on Ultimate N7000 XXLSC JellyBean 4.1.2 v5.1

Hi,
First thanks to Joosh3 for Ultimate N7000 XXLSC JellyBean 4.1.2 v5.1.
I installed this ROM yesterday and have no issues till now.
I need to know if I can get the KIES to work as I need to restore the data from it.
Also, what is the safest method to go back to stock kernel and stock ROM if there is a need to reclaim the warranty as my phone is only a month old. I am new to ROM/kernel flashing and would appreciate if I can get clear and simple instructions.
Thanks.
Can some one help me on this?
Also fb information ticker is not working.

You can download the stock firmwares from the thread below however I did not find the version you mentioned ie I5800XWJG6. It is however safe to flash any of these firmwares.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1063940
There are many custom ROMs available for i5800. Check the thread below for a list of custom ROMs available for your device and choose which one you may want to use.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1234591
I personally endorse using any of these 3.
Kyrillos 9.7.1, Kisadworx 2.5.3 or Purukisadworx.

I agree.
Try PuruKisadHybrid 2.4. it is really smooth and
Kisadworx which has more features than any other Custom ROMs.
