How do I swap the attach button and send button on the text message screen?
Some roms (skyics) have it swapped, and it actually stops me from flashing other roms when I see the attach button on top.
I type in landscape mode and it drives me nuts having to swipe just to get to the send button.
Is it a simple fix?

There is no simple fix for moving changing. Collors or buttons or menus.
Perhaps try a different sms app. From the market. Or decompile it with apktool. And start diggin in
Thanks silver. I like the stock app...I might get around to just digging in and messing around with it.

Sorry if this is an easy fix, but I can't seem to find an answer anywhere. When I get a new text message, the soft button on the left comes up as "reply" (the right is menu) is there a way to change this to "view" as sometimes I don't want to reply to a text, but do want to view the whole message.
Also, is there a way to add a shortcut (or change one of the soft buttons on the today screen) to start a new text message?
Thanks
intresting question got the same problem
I would like this too!

You basically should create a new shortcut as a program that has the command to invoke a new SMS. You can then use something like Schap's Advanced Config Tool to assign that shortcut to one of the soft keys. You can also assign it to one of the hardware buttons if you want.
You should also try searching. If you type "new sms shortcut" you will get many links to the solution.
Thanks, but that doesn't solve the main problem, in that when I get a new sms, the notification window comes up, and the left soft button is "reply" and the right is "menu" (which does not have a view option) so to view the message, I have to get rid of the notification, go into messaging, and then open the message. What I'd like to be able to do is when the new sms notification comes up, I'd like the left soft button to be "view" so I can just hit that and go straight to the message.
If the entire message is visible in the notification window it doesn't give you an option to "View", that's when you get "Reply". If you get a really long text message that doesn't completely show in the notification window, the "Reply" button will be a "View" button that will take you into Messaging to view the entire message. I'm not sure how to always have it be the "View" button.
gringolian, if you find something to change the reply to view, then let me know!
this is hard to word but ill do my best.
on the home screen, i have "clock", "wifi", "device lock", "task", and sms
the colums are too skinny to push with a finger and i was wondering if there was a waty to make them taller or add a button to go straight to the text when it says i have a new one?
also, when im in a program and need to go back a page, the little x in the corner is hard to push with my thumb. is there a way to make this easier? i was thinking making the "clr" button a back key but i dont know if it can be done
any help very appreciated
ps. i have already got the text size as big as it will go through setting menu

2 options, use the directional buttons around the enter key, or install virtual mouse.
The directional buttons don't allow you to navigate to the 'Send' button unfortunately. At least, not that I have been able to do. I can navigate most other places with them though.
I will look into using virutal mouse tonight. Thanks.
I have the UK version - so i may be wrong here. Isnt there a txt key on the slide out keyboard?
Failing that, bind a key using something like AEB (remap button pushes) or gscroll (use the capacative touch on the buttons) - you can google them both!
And if you have trouble mapping to "create new txt" send me a pm and i'll walk you through it!
Was curious if any of you guys were working on, or know of a program that can act as a back button or menu button, on screen. My home row keys are taking a beating, and normally cause to much hand adjustment to use them.
Just a thought.
I was thinking maybe swype like actions for the back button, etc...
I've tried button saviour, but didn't like it too much.
Thanks for reading and replying.
"Softkeys for root users" might be what you're looking for.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
Download Button Savior from the Market. Alot more friendly to the eyes and a heck of a lot easier to use than Softkeys. I use it on my Nook as well.
tried softkeys, wow, that is a difficult program to use, but looks great.
I will have to go back to button savior I guess, and make it work.
Thanks for the replies.
Hope this helps you.

Its not hard to use. Its hard to configure properly.
When you install, hit the home button and choose softkeys as your default home. This will allow softkeys to intercept the home button call.
Then, in softkeys, program it so one push gives softkeys and 2 pushes gives you "home" (<--- specify which home app that you want softkeys to call upon double click)
I also put the back and menu buttons (on my Nook Color) in the notifications area to have easy access to them those as well.
Thanks! I just noticed I had a pm, and this is apparently where all the posts, I followed, made apparently get moved to!
I thought I was crazy.
Not sure if this is where my question is supposed to go, I just joined. I'm having a minor frustration with my keyboard, because it won't go down when I want it to. What prompted me to create a thread for this: posting an Instagram story, pressing the back button so the keyboard will go away so I can select a text color... except, the text color options go away too when I press the back button. There's other instances where this has been annoying, that's just one example. On my browser, it'll go away if I scroll, but obviously not in all apps. :/
Main summary: My Sony Xperia z3 is rooted and I'm wondering if there's a tweak I can do, or a module to install, to make Gboard go away whenever I want it to. Swipe? Pressing the camera button? (It's unmapped, I originally wanted it to take screenshots but I can't seem to get that working with tasker or modules....) Pulling notification shade down? Possible to make any of those options close the keyboard?? I don't want to change keyboards so please don't suggest that, it's a modded version I'm using after installing iOS styled emojis.
Edit. Setting up tasker to switch my input method to null keyboard when I cover proximity sensor before switching back after 5 seconds allows me to do what I need to in Instagram, but this 'solution' is annoying and messy at best. Any better suggestions?
