“Extensions come to Opera Mobile”
So I decided to do a search today to see if there was a way to enable extensions on Opera Mobile. In a stroke of luck, I just happened to find a post made today in the Opera dev site that has a link to a build of Opera Mobile 12 with support for extensions.
It has been working well on my Motorola Xoom 4G.
Link to apk: http://www.opera.com/download/get.pl?id=34585&sub=true¬hanks=yes&location=360
Link to the article: http://dev.opera.com/articles/view/extensions-opera-mobile-labs/
Tips:
To transfer and back up your Opera bookmarks without the need of Opera Link:
Requirements: Must be rooted!
Transfer Bookmarks from Opera Mobile 12 to Opera Mobile 12 w/Extension:
Use Rootexplorer to copy the “all” file from “/data/data/com.opera.browser/opera/etc/2/” to “/data/data/com.opera.browser.extensions/opera/etc/2/”
Backup Bookmarks from Opera Mobile 12 or Opera Mobile 12 w/Extension:
Use Rootexplorer to copy the “all” file from “/data/data/com.opera.browser/opera/etc/2/” or “/data/data/com.opera.browser.extensions/opera/etc/2/” to a desired location on you Sd Card of eternal storage.
Extra:
Here is a list of extensions that I have installed to improve my browsing experience.
Ghostery: block scripts from companies that you don't trust, delete local shared objects, and even block images and iframes.
WOT: shows you which websites people trust for safe surfing, shopping and searching on the web.
NoAds: Extension blocks external scripts, specific global script functions and variables, elements of a page
ContentBlockHelper (English): block any elements by CSS selector rules and more automatically.
SaveFrom.net helper: Helps you to download files.
Further Customization:

(Ads Blocking section is not needed if you use the ContentBlockHelper Extention)

Fantastic! Installed and i added adblock, and it works perfectly! Thanks :-D

Really easy to add add-ons. Tap the add-on shortcut on the startpage/shortcuts, find an add-on and click install Superb find OP!

Is there any way to hide the extension icons under the URL bar? They tend to show there for me.. kinda annoying haha! thanks for this.

Not without disabling or uninstalling them for now. I am using it on a tablet so the icons appear to the left of the search box. Don't they disappear with the URL when you scroll down a bit on a phone?

Wow.. This almost makes me switch from stock/Dolphin..
I need to have an extension with icon to get me to the startpage with my bookmark quick link list. Anyone knows if there is such an extension?
I know its sort of a luxury problem. But i dont want to hit "menu" "startpage" just to get to my startpage..
Also.. Is there any fiddling besides just installing the adblock noads extension? For me the extension does nothing..
Which adblock did you install? Try to go to "Extensions" --> "Adblock" and check the settings. I use "Opera AdBlock". (This one)

I believe NoAds is better for opera. Ad block is great on fire fox but I believe I read that it didn't port over well to opera or chrome.
4G Xoom + Team EOS ICS nightlies = WIN
That might be, but it works without any problems here. BUT it doesn't hurt to try something new, so i'll take a look at NoAds. You win!
Edit: It works but what the hell is up with the gigantic icon under the adressbar? NO BUENO!
Edit2: Doh! scratch that! I didn't know that the bar under the adressbar is the add-on bar for installed add-ons. Silly me indeed!
Edit3: LOL, Opera is using 200MB RAM with two add-ons installed. Well, i guess this is how it'll be from now on. I have plenty of RAM to waste!

Mine was running over 200mb after the first few hours, but now it seems to be consistently under 100mb and I've got about five add ons.

200 Mb of RAM with only 2 add-ons? It's Firefox or what? My phone have 256 MB of RAM. 70 Mb is for system and such...

LOL yeah, but the more RAM you have available, the more RAM apps will use. Try this build yourself and see how much it uses.

Anyone have an older version that works?
Yep, its not compatible. Give it some time, the dev's will fix it soon I'm sure.
Damn, I'm coming from Desire and I loved the browser on there.
I can not STAND having the status bar visible while browsing websites.

It's basically the way the pages are rendered. Opera mobile is a full featured mobile web browser, while Mini aint.

It's indeed faster, but as of now, quite hard to use for me as the fonts are too small, even when I double-tap to zoom in. The previous version was ok.
Guess I'll just wait for the one-finger zoom support then.

This is a very good browser.
It's a bit like Safari on the iphone in that when you scroll down too fast you get checkerboards but it saves ram memory so pages scroll super smooth, even smoother than opera mini.
I had issues with every other android browser where some pages would scroll quite jerky but OM has been smooth on every page I've visited.
160% Zoom seems to work for me, very easy to click on links and not too big that it makes browsing pages a chore.
does anyone know what Opera turbo does? I assume it compresses images possibly?
A better solution to Zoom is:
Set Zoom to 100% and set minimum font size to something like 18. Default is 9 - Works brilliant.

How do i get "home" after surfing a bunch of pages?
The only one I know of is on the top right of the Bookmarks screen

Can't you open a new tab, and that is your homepage? Thats what I do.
thank you both for those suggestions, they will work for me.
alternatively, from from the quick menu via the sides, hit the bookmark and it'll be on the upper right of the bookmark screen

yes, enable the quick access menu from the Settings of the stock browser. That will give you buttons like: forward&back&reload, bookmarks, new tab, etc. Basically if you open a new tab that will have your home page.

I just wish there was an ad-blockling plug-in for it.
For all firefox mobile's problems with flash support and appalling image quality the ability to surf without annoying ads everywhere is tempting...

Yea, especially from this site, I guess that is what the xda premium app is for. I have a hell of a time trying to close the ads that pop up on my transformer when browsing this site through the browser.

Just use ICS Browser + from the market. It's free and is exactly like the stock browser but with additional setting like changing the useragent.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.beansoft.browserplus
I believe you can type "about:debug" into the address bar then open settings and change the default user-agent to a desktop system.
Sent from my Inspire 4G
As mentioned above search for ICS browser + on the market, sorry I mean play store. Exactly the same as stock but with added features with one being the ability to change user agent in settings which will keep it that way
There is a free and donate version.
There is also another variant called Quick ICS browser, again its the same as stock but with a few extra features. Personally I prefer ICS browser + over this one but give them both a test drive see which one you prefer

Look for ua string in the next couple days. As for adb wireless, its a maybe. Its sorta popular but meh. I wrote it for our honeycomb builds so its a easy mod. Ill ask solarnz about it. But really, ssh over wifi is far better.
We never use stock launcher so it is somewhat neglected. Ill see if I can hide search. Seems I've heard of that mod before.

Lol, Facebook Home! AP shared the apk in their tweet, so no credits to me. Install the attached Facebook Home apk and download the Facebook app from Play Store. Then if your phone is not officially supported then you will need to edit the build.prop file, which is accessible by path system/build.pro- Reboot, via any good file manager like Root Explorer.
But then again, I strongly recommend you to NOT edit the build.prop file for such a hype like this, you will face several problems later.

In order to use the leak, you need an Android device with a maximum resolution of 1280x768 and the ability to completely uninstall your existing Facebook app. This is important, as the leaked APKs are re-signed and can't just be installed over the top of an existing installation. This will automatically exclude some devices which have Facebook installed in the base ROM. If you're on a Nexus device you're good! Even if you do have Facebook in ROM, provided you are rooted there are workarounds - i'll detail these in the comments. If you have any problems installing post below and i'll help if I can.
In the settings you can find some interesting options such as whether to hide the notification bar by default or not (if it is hidden, sweeping down from the top of the screen reveals it). Let us know your thoughts!

If you have Facebook app already installed:
If you're rooted and want to play on a device with Facebook preinstalled, you need to...
Find the location of Facebook in your system partition (e.g. /system/app/Facebook.apk or perhaps /system/app/Facebook_Client.apk)
Delete said file (after backing it up!)
Reboot device
Install Facebook from the Play Store then uninstall it
