Hi guys,
The rom I use (Endymion) comes with Superuser, but I changed to SuperSU. Everything works fine, but now I'd like to clean up and uninstall the old superuser system app. Titamium Backup is too scared to do so, so I have to do it manually.
I deleted all updates to Superuser (like u uninstall non system apps) and renamed Superuser.apk in /system/app/ to Superuser.apk.old. Now it seems to be gone but are there additional files I shall and can safely remove (rename it first and test) for Superuser clean up purposes (R/W rights, Root Explorer or adb shell are manageable for me)?
Thx,
Kwisatz
you could also delete the app's folder in /data/data, it should be something like com.k(something).superuser

Hello everyone. I have been working with android for a 6 months now and still cannot figure out what im doing wrong to get my permissions to work correctly. I have installed ADB and successfully rooted my MT3G Slide. I have been trying lately to figure out why i cannot manually configure A2SD. I have gone through both ADB Shell and Terminal under Su to try to mkdir /system/apps but it will give me a problem like my system is not allowing me to rewrite or its copy protected. I have tried to remount and it claims its successful. Another symptom i experience is not being able functionally use the rom manager or restart in clockwork recovery after i have flashed a rom. I always have to wipe the devices before i can loop hack back into clockwork mode. I have tried to fix permissions and restart in recovery through rom manager and it just brings up a question mark ontop of an image of a phone. I have been trying most recently to move a file through terminal to another name and replace the old with a new of the same name. It says the directory is not empty when i try to modify this file. So Anyone think they might know a solutions to these issues or hopefully all of them in one simple problem i cant seem to figure out.
download & install 'root explorer' for your phone from the android market (or your Pc, and put it on your phone) , grant it superuser permissions from superuser on your phone, open it up, and there's an option to make the phones memory R/W. (Its R/O as default which may be why your having permission issues)
Saying that Im yet to figure out adb's permissions fully..
Be careful with root explorer though, its a very intrusive programme which can screw up everything
Root explorer cost money... is there another program that allows me the same option. I have been using astro file manager, any way to do it on that one?
Hello,
I uninstalled (inadvertently) the system application DMClient on my ASUS Transformer.
I would like to re-install. How to.
I have a backup of this System Application (com.asus.dm.apk) but it doesn't want to install.
What is the solution ?
Thank you for your responses
(Sorry for my english but i'm french)
adb push it to system/app
Thank's for the reply, but i'm newbie. Can you be a little more... explicit, please.
This thread will show hoe to set up ADB
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1071584
Once done put the file (com.asus.dm.apk) in the platform-tools folder
and run command
Code:
adb push <application_name>.apk /system/app
you could also try manually moving the file with Root explorer or any file management with root access to system/app to see if that work
The file com.asus.dm.apk is already on system/app but the application DMClient doesn't appear ine the Application list
Try this, not sure if it will work or not.
Navigate to where you have the app (system/app in this case)
long press on it to bring up the menu
choose "permission" and set to rw,r,r if not already set to that
now tap on it again to install the app
also when you say it's not showing up in Application list.
Are you refering to the app drawer? Cause it will not show up there.
You can find it in Settings>Applications>Manage application>All (if it's installed correctly)
I'm rooted. I have uninstalled it with UltimateBackup.
DMClient is (was) a ROM application.
I have tried to restaure it with Titanium Backup, then with Ultimate Backup without success (the restore process begin but never end).
I'm very dispointed because without this application, i can't access to OTA Firmware updates.
if anybody have an idea !!!
Thank
Well if you have CWM you could flash the latest OTA update from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1409584
Flashing with a new firmware seems to be an heavy solution for only one file missing.
In system/app, i have DMClient.ODEX and com.asus.dm.apk instead of having DMClient.ODEX and DMClient.apk
I am trying to get rid of lots of bloatware that I don't want in my new unlocked Motorola Atrix hd phone. I have rooted the phone and got terminal emulator and su working. When I read around on the internet, there are posts describing to remount the /system/app for read/write, delete the apk and odex files and the remount again for read only.
My understanding is that root should be able to "rm" those files in "su" mode if you can see them. So why do we have to remount them before deleting and after? What does it do? What happens if I simply "rm" the apk and odex files in /system/app without remounting before or after, I mean if I am able to "rm"?
Thank you.
I believe the logic is that for security reasons the system/app partition is mounted in read-only mode by default. With root privileges, you can mount it as read/write and make changes such as removing apk files. When you're done editing, you should remount the /system/app partition as read-only, restoring it to its default state. If you don't, any process could theoretically make changes to the files in that partition which could damage your OS or apps.
So we remount the partition because we cannot delete them otherwise. That means if we are able to delete them without remounting, it is OK to do so. Correct?
I believe so. But just to be sure, I would strongly advice to make a nandroid backup before you delete any files.

Just use this app free from the Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jumobile.manager.systemapp
No messing around with Terminal and any commands.
I found out. I could not delete even as su and got a msg that it was read only. That's why we need to remount.
Or you can use Titanium Backup. TB has option to backup system app&data and then remove.
It's safer...
You can also freeze apps with TB. If something goes wrong, you can unfreeze it or do factory reset.
It took me a while to figure out that the bast**ds had built in the malware in the firmware, with the launcher. Phone is rooted, and I have changed the launcher. But I can't delete the malware apks inside system/app.
They are named as com.google.hardware.ext0.apk, and another similarly named (android air, and measure too)..
Problem is, I can't delete them, I tried using ES File Explorer (yes, root is enabled. I can delete, change other files in system/app but for this) I am denied permission!!
Then I tried the terminal emulator.. after getting SU.. tried deleting them using RM and then 'busybox rm..' both failed. What to do? How to delete the f****ng malware files??
(If I switch on the WiFi, malware automatically downloads more crap, then I can't even switch off Wifi and Data! Hence I formatted the phone and have not entered any sim or wifi settings... but I can't delete the damn files!! Any suggestions please?? Going crazy here)
regards
If you could install a custom recovery to flash a zip that delete this app...
Try a Root System App Deleter or, boot in recovery mode and remove it via ADB
Hi all, i followed the easyroot system and everything went fine. The flex 2 h955 v15c is properly rooted. Now....tried to use es file explorer to uninstall system apps as i usually do with the other phones but here it is not possible. System apps wont uninstall...so...you are not able to get rid of play books...play games...google+...and other ununwanted apps (at least for me). The question is...if i am rooted why can't i uninstall system apps as i did for years. Does anybody know another way ? Thank you and merry Xmas
After first boot after rooting, open superSU and update it, then reboot and try to use root explorer in ESFile Explorer and you will se popup to alow root acces, grant acces then try to uninstall system apps.
Hi thank you for your suggestion but i did everything you said. Actually the es file explorer is in the list of the superuser app. As a proof of this i can access to the uninstall system apps screen. Now..when i try to uninstall it says that it is imposiible
Did you set r/w permisions on system folder in es file explorer? Select Root Explorer in ES and then Mount R/W, then give RW to /system... If this doesn help, than I don't know
Did everything but nothing changed. Thank aagain for all your help. I cannot even uninstall "normal" apps..not only system apps. I tried with other uninstalling applications but with the same result.
Clear permisions in SuperSu for ES file explorer, clear cache and data for ES, and uninstall, then install again and grant root acces. Dont cost you anything to try
